Malaysia's highest Islamic authority issues fatwa against...Botox

Against Botox. Not, mind you, against Osama bin Laden. Not against the targeting of civilians by jihadists. Not against terrorism in the name of Islam, or suicide bombing, or honor killing. Against Botox. "Malaysia: Botox Fatwa," from AFP, with thanks to Twostellas:

Malaysia's highest Islamic authority, the National Fatwa Council, has decided that Botox injections are not permissible for Muslims for cosmetic purposes, The New Straits Times, Malaysia's largest newspaper, reported. The council decided that substances used in Botox, a trade name for botulinum toxin A, could not be deemed "halal," or permissible, under Islamic law. The council chairman, Shukor Husin, said that since the introduction of the cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, there have been "many fake products in the market and that is another reason why it is 'haram,' " or forbidden.

If it's mainly for women, muslim males are going to be against it. Why put up with an older wife who's trying to look younger when he can go get a nine year old for a new bride?

Like Botox would help...

What do expect from a religion that considers it a victory whey their children die? A religion that has honor killings, you know, kill the daughter for being raped. A religion that considers suicide bombers heroes. Islam-The Religion of Peace--BAH

Islam = Anti Life.

A well-known side-effect of Botox (even in successful cases) is the immobilization of facial muscles, especially ones involved in frowning, furrowing the brow, and other negatively charged expressions.

Imagine all those angry demonstrations that pop up all the time after Friday prayers. Now imagine a bunch of angry demonstrators with Botox-induced poker faces.

An interesting picture, but bad PR for the impassioned indignation bandwagon.

...........

See, its really just an innocent form of consumer protection--not!

To be perfectly honest, I'm not a big fan of Botox--unless it's used for medical reasons, I find it a bit creepy. But not nearly as creepy as Fatwas against authors excersizing free speech and people being able to freely practice their religions and women being able to wear what they want.

This is just one more attack on modernity and free expression.

How can they tell if a mohammden woman has had Botox since the female of the species should be dressed in what appears to be a tent with slits for her nostrils and eyes?
Even uncovered,their moustaches will cover their lips.
