I think Being Holy is right that 9/11/01 was picked for a particular reason, but not that one.

Osama picked 9/11/01 due a particlar verse in the Qur'an, I'll wager big bucks. If you remove the zero (which is nothing anyway) it leads you to 9/11/1. That is easily converted to 9.111 with the addition of a period and removal of two slashes. If you know anything about the Qur'an, Sura Nine is viewed as authoratative due to the doctrine of naskh, abrogation.

The best way to heaven in Islam, perhaps extra virgins, boys, or wine, whatever, is "martyrdom" (ugh) fighting in the way of "Allah" (not God that's for sure).

YUSUFALI: Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

There is no stronger language in the Qur'an. Kill and be killed. How... spiritual.

Forget the cartoons. That's a side show and a distraction from Alqaeda history. Remember the failed bomb plot in Manila? First, the main reason it failed is that amatuers were doing the chemistry. After the apartment fire, the Philippine Constabulary raided the place, picked up a laptop and other evidence and a "perp" who came back to try to recover the laptop. That was Operation Bojinka. Remember, they tried to topple the World Trade Center in 1993 with ANFO but failed. "Try, try, again until it works." If my hunch is right, they still want a shot at the Big Bang (Bojinka). Also, this "liquid explosive" thing may have been a ruse and I'm not totally convinced that those "common household substances" were the real deal. It's not over.

Don't even attempt to use reason to figure out these whackos. Anyone who believes it's his duty to kill innocent people in response to the creation and publication of cartoons is wholly irrational. Take the time you might spend trying to puzzle it all out and devise ways to prevent them from acting on their insanity.

A good first step would be to elect people who will immediately stop allowing any young Muslim males into the country. Then assign FBI and/or Homeland Security personnel to keep close tabs on all young Muslim males already in the country.

Think that's a horrible idea? FDR issued Executive Order 9066 during WWII. It led to the rounding up of over 100,000 Japanese-Americans (US citizens, almost all of them), the placement of them in 'internment' camps, and the blanket removal of all Constitutional rights for an indefinite amount of time. Families were split up for years. What threat did babies and elderly people pose? Yet an American president did that in an effort to protect America from attack from within.

That's exponentially more egregious than simply stopping all entry of male Muslims between the ages of, say, 16-40, and close surveillance of young Muslim males already here.

The second step shouldn't even be an issue five years after 9/11/01. Plug the porous borders. So what if it takes billions of dollars and massive new manpower? We have an economy measured in the trillions and about 300 million citizens. It can be done. It hasn't been done only because we haven't rattled enough cages. When will we? After the Muslim whackos sneak in some backpack nukes and take out a few hundred thousand of us in large, densely packed cities? Priorities matter.

Islam is such a shaky religion that they need to kill innocent people to feed their god with blood just because of a cartoon? I say we keep on, we know their weak spot, the whole facade is crumbling and we need to keep on attacking the weakest points.

We know one of the weakest points of Islam is it's prophet, a sexual monster with a penchant for toddlers and a highwayman who robbed travellers in the desert.

Another weak point is the origin of the religion, it's pagan foundations which are protected by threat of violence. We mustn't be intimidated by violence nor the threat of violence, indeed the opposite, because we know that means we have them on the run!

As for the worries about loss of life, should we keep appeasing them kowtowing to them the loss of life will be far greater as history has illustrated many times.

Do an image search on "Danish Flag" in google - it's quite amazing what they did to an image of the holy cross (upon the flag). I don't remember the Buddhists burning the Koran when the statues in Afghanistan got blown up! This is a true insight into the Muslim mind - they can insult, but they must never be insulted. That a group such as this could somehow answer a cartoon in Denmark with blowing up a train full of innocents in Germany is probably as good an indication as any, of the deeply psychotic nature of Islam.
