First he invited President Bush to convert to Islam; now Ahmadinejad is extending that invitation to Westerners in general, with the threat that "those who do not respond to the invitation (to follow God's will), as we said, will have no good fate."
From Reuters: "Iran president urges West to follow God's path"
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a devout Shi'ite Muslim, urged the West on Wednesday to turn to God's path and said failure to do would ensure they faced "no good fate."
Ahmadinejad, whose speeches are often peppered with religious and anti-Western remarks, also repeated a call for a live television debate with George W. Bush and said Iran was not a threat, rebuffing Tuesday's comments by the U.S. president.
[...]
"We requested a face-to-face debate (with Bush) to assess the problems of the world ... We will let humanity choose between us," he told a meeting on the 12th Muslim Shi'ite imam, who disappeared in the 10th century AD but who Shi'ites believe will return to implement Islamic justice.
"We oppose the fact that America and Britain intend to impose themselves on every other nation," he said.
"Those who do not respond to the invitation (to follow God's will), as we said, will have no good fate," said Ahmadinejad, the second non-cleric to be president of the Islamic Republic.
"I do not threaten anybody, but the whole universe threatens you. The current of life in the universe opposes you, as it opposes tyranny," he added.
A presidential official told Reuters that Ahmadinejad's remarks were partly to rebut Bush's speech on Tuesday in which he said Shi'ite "extremists" were subjecting Iran to "a regime of tyranny," backed terrorists, sought atomic bombs and threatened the United States.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said Bush was trying to cover up his failures. "We don't know why Mr Bush insists so much on using this odd language in international relations," he said in a statement.
In letters Ahmadinejad wrote this year to Bush and to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he blamed many of the world's problems on leaders who failed to follow divine teachings.
"The time has passed for the use of force ... All of the discrimination, wars and problems have a root in such an arrogant spirit, the idea of 'Mahdaviat' opposes that school of thought," Ahmadinejad said.
Mahdaviat refers to the concept of belief in the Mahdi.
Ahmadinejad has often referred to the return of the 12th Imam, also known as the Mahdi, in his speeches since taking office last year, including a speech to the United Nations last September that perplexed many diplomats in the audience.
Ahmadinejad's fervent belief in the Mahdi has unnerved some observers, because they say one school of thought, based around the secretive Hojjatieh Society, believes the 12th Imam's return will be hastened by the creation of chaos on earth.

How many times do they have to ask? OBL asked..Azzaman the dork asked...now little old short bastard is asking. Does it say in the Qur'an that they have to ask us repeatedly to convert first before the jiyza? Your days are numbered Jerkmedijahd. Invitation declined again and again and again. So quit asking us! And no, I am not paying you a jiyza either so don't even ask that one!

A new Pentagon report warns that Iraq could soon face a civil war. In one of its most dire reports yet, the Pentagon revealed that the number of Iraqi casualties soared by more than 50 percent in recent months. And civilians are increasingly becoming the targets of the attacks. The Los Angeles Times reports that at least 334 people died last week in Baghdad. Another 400 people were killed elsewhere in Iraq. On Monday 33 bodies were found in Baghdad. The men were mutilated, handcuffed and blindfolded. On Friday, a well-known Iraqi soccer player was kidnapped from his home in Baghdad. The athlete, Ghanim Khudayer, was about to sign a contract with a Syrian soccer team in an attempt to escape the violence in Iraq. Despite the Pentagon report on the potential for a civil war, President Bush is attempting to paint a rosier picture of the situation. He spoke about Iraq during his weekly radio address.* President Bush: “Our commanders and diplomats on the ground believe that Iraq has not descended into a civil war. They report that only a small number of Iraqis are engaged in sectarian violence." (LOL, talk of spin, Tony Snow must be writing his scripts).

I imagine that Ahmadinejad invited us to follow "allah's path", not "God's path". The pc police contribute to this situation by pretending we all share commonality in a single diety, and thus allow for a theologically based hesitation when it is time to take decisive action. Take a quick look at "eurabia" and at the US's concerns over using racial profiling at airports to see what pc-ers can both achieve and perpetuate.
Send the feeble-minded, apologetic pc-ers straight to hell's 9th level with the rest of the muslims.

I predict no monkey magic for the primate in a short suit with this speech. Even if he blows hard through his fingers the pink flying cloud of Allah won’t carry him above the crap he is creating.
Allah is losing Africa to the dratted Christians, America is on the offensive and when the oil runs out the Middle East will have to become a tourist resort or revert to the sand.
As for Europe, that is the real battleground. Germany is not famous for its pacifism. Britain is on security level ‘Tea is running out’ and the French… Yeah, they are here too.
In the meantime 3 Para Battle Group is fighting the Taleban in Afghanistan for the kind of loss ratio Montgomery dreamt about before El Alamein. You know the Taleban got pasted if they are threatening journalists.

and the Jordan jihadist is portrayed as crazed lone gunmen.
***********************************************
Jordanian officials initially branded the attack a "terrorist act", however Joudeh was later quoted by Jordan's state-run Petra news agency as saying that the gunman had acted alone and had no ties to any "armed or suspicious group".
"The result of the primary investigation is that this was a lone act. He does not have any connections with terrorist organisations," he said.
The gunman has been identified as Nabil Ahmad, a Jordanian in his late thirties and a resident of the industrial town of Zarqa, on the eastern outskirts of the capital, Jordanian officials said.

Someone needs to inform this Cro-Magnon anthropoid that al-lah is NOT God!!!!!
Therefore the Islamic "way" can NOT possibly be "God's way" and is no way for anyone to be going!
No one cares what Ahmadinejad "opposes" much less has to say...remember NOTHING a Muslim ever has to say is worth listening to (especially when it comes from HIM).
And by the way, we oppose Muslims' claims that al-lah is 'God'. Anyone oozing such vile garbage, we claim, deserves to be eliminated!

"I do not threaten anybody, but the whole universe threatens you. The current of life in the universe opposes you, as it opposes tyranny," the self-appointed spokesperson for God said.
This Ahmadinejad is the tyranny he references. Who has freedom of conscience in Iran, who can freely express ideas and opinions that are contrary to Ahmadinejad re God? Who is not in danger from this dwarf, this small scale Iranian version of Jim Jones?
The key to ending this danger is in making a good deal with V. Putin of Russia, who seems "for now" to be using Ahmadinejad as bargaining chip. It's a dangerous game to do that. It's not in Russia's interests to have a nuclear armed Iran.

I have just finished some readings on the Mahdi. It is interesting to see the Pres Ahmadinejad is following the path of the Mahdi. He is in preparation of his arrival.
Although there are many interpretations as to what the Mahdi will be, i.e. teacher, punisher, torturer, our now day islamic extremist believes him to be torturer. He is suppose to have lived amongst us for the last 1,000 years with a secret birth, he will appear or be made public by a sudden 'enlightenment' and will declare himself. He will be of the approximate observed age of 40 with a black spot on his face.
Blah, blah, blah. It goes on and on. It is strange reading.
I found it interesting that the book "Dune" was written about this specific return of the Mahdi (although in the book it was Muad'Dib). The writer was counseled by an unknown Arab that laid out the whole story. When you go back and read Dune or watch the movie it is strange to see that it really is an Arab prophecy movie.

Frank, the point I was trying to make with my post above is that if you mock your enemy with humour, I admit a terrible attempt at humour. But that is the day you can mock him and disarm his threats.
In the big picture he has no way of blowing the West into a corner ready to be subjugated. There are too many things we like doing, like going to rock concerts and kissing the girl you have fancied for years and hoping to get a bit more. Black widows abseiling down buildings and comedy frogmen are not going to make us give up centuries of enlightenment.
They do not have the military might to take us down in a straight fight. So the day we treat them with the pity you might show an aggressive puppy that knows no better is the day that we treat them with the respect they deserve.
My great, great uncle, I think. Samuel White died fighting the Germans in the hell of the trenches. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has no grave for him on the fields of Flanders where our family can lay flowers. He didn’t just die; his body was evaporated, turned to red mist or blown apart enough to get scooped up with the rest who couldn’t be identified.
Monkey magic thinks we have no history or pride to match Islam. He is misguided.
at September 6, 2006 4:36 PM
Frank: Don't hold your breath waiting for Mr. Putin to have a change of heart. He's too ruthless and cold-blooded by far.
Russia is presently waging an undeclared war on the United States and the western democracies, with Iran the present enemy-state by proxy. As such, Putin is acting in bad faith. It is not in his ideological interest to compromise with the west at this point--he wants to win. All this man really cares about, at bottom, is forcing Communist ideology upon the world community. Putin would appear to be resigned to whatever the total cost of Russia's war on the west will be (he appears to betting that it will cost Russia a lot LESS than what it will cost the United States and the western democracies). It is therefore unlikely that he is overly concerned about the impact of Islamic terror on Russia either.

Huh, are you in the sixth grade? Are you semi literate, semi intelligent?
Reuters has it right. Ahmadinejad IS a devout Shi'te Muslim, and what he espouses is orthodox Islamic ideology.
What part of Islam do you not understand? And Death to Israel, as an Islamic war chant is quite orthodox and totally in keeping with the Qur'an and Sunnah. On the contrary, any mention or notion of fraternity and peace with Israel would render said muslim an apostate and his life and head would be at the disposal of any and all in the ummah.
at September 6, 2006 4:57 PM
And you can prove that Putin is prepared to back Iran with the armaments and men on the ground that would be needed to take America in another proxy war like Vietnam.
Taking into account that Putin is fighting the same enemy only to a more destructive extent than the West as had to endure.
As for Putin not being concerned about Islamic terror. I think Beslan taught him a few lessons.

Ahmadinejad pretends to speak for the whole universe. What modesty.
Islam claims it admits no one as the equal of Allah. How ironic that tens or even hundreds of millions of the world's Muslims pretend to know the mind of "the whole universe" well enough to be able to threaten death to everyone who does not submit to "the universe," that is, to Allah as revealed by Islam. The Muslims who in effect claim divine knowledge that justifies them in compelling non-Muslims with theocracy, terror and deception, i.e., the Muslims who read and follow the Quran, Hadith and Sira, are semi-unconsciously self-aggrandizing and making themselves partners with "Allah." How ironic, but unsurprising, that Islam, by basing itself on theocracy and jihad, would turn out to be a mirror image of the Luciferic hubris Islam pretends to oppose so fiercely in human beings. In that sense, Islam is a self-contradiction, a huge historical lie. Too bad Islam is both much stronger and much less guarded against than communism was. Because it is a self-contradiction, Islam can't win in the long run, but it might prevent anyone from winning if we don't work enough to stop it.

Mert: Beslan should have taught Putin a lesson, but I think you are forgetting that Russia is not a place where human life is generally accorded much value--certainly not as much value as in most western democracies. Beslan would have taught westerners 'a lesson'. But I don't think Putin is making many policy adjustments as a consequence of the Beslan carnage, because human life just doesn't matter enough to him for that.
