Let them above all "be a thorn in the side" of the Muslims of Algeria, who in fighting them will not behave the way the French or Americans behave. No, they will behave the way the militias in Iraq, both Shi'a and Sunni, behave in dealing with each other. Quite different from the rules of Western, non-Muslim armies. Very different from the rules of the scrupulous, far too scrupulous, Israelis. Let them fight. Try to keep as much of it intra-Arab or intra-Muslim as possible. Let them descend, further, into what Islma naturally brings, when Muslim peoples unhinged by their encounter with the modern world, and still unable to leave the cage of inshallah-fatalism and the Complete Regulation of Life, and Total Explanation of the Universe, that Islam supplies, and who are bewildered and full of hate for anything else, fight other Muslim peoples who are only slightly less bewildered, and only slightly less animated by hate, or at least are willing for now to concede that the Infidels exist and remain powerful, so that the Slow Jihad, rather than the Fast Jihad, is more prudent and sensible.

Let the exponents of Fast Jihad and Slow Jihad go at it, or the Sunnis kill the Shi'a, and vice-versa. That is the kind of "civil war within Islam" that means something. Not the phony "civil war" that is posited between wonderful "reformers" and the "minority of extremists" holding Muslims back.

Algerian links to Al-Qaeda are not new:

In 1992,the GIA(Group Islamique arme) marginalized the FIS (front for islamic salvation) and became the Algerian government’s main enemy, engaging it in a civil war that has claimed, according to conservative estimates, around 100,000 lives. The GIA, made up mostly of unemployed and uneducated young men, made it its official policy to kill anybody it identified with the Algerian government and civil society: intellectuals, doctors, civil servants, journalists and teachers. The entire population of villages, including women and children, deemed sympathetic to the government were exterminated overnight by GIA members.

By 1995 the GIA controlled large parts of the country. Police officers were expelled from villages and entire neighborhoods were declared “liberated Islamic zones.” A harsh interpretation of Islamic law was enforced in GIA-controlled parts of the country, with women forced to wear the veil and men prohibited from listening to radio or TV programs considered un-Islamic.

The Islamists were not alone in their violent struggle against the secular government. Throughout the 1990’s they received financial and logistical support from al Qaeda, as hundreds of Algerian militants trained in al Qaeda training camps in Sudan and Afghanistan. And while battling the secular government at home, the GIA established a strong presence in Europe, where its cells interacted with other Islamist groups and provided the militants fighting in Algeria with money, weapons and false documents.

In 1994 the GIA, while continuing its brutal campaign against the Algerian government, began attacking French targets inside Algeria. In December of 1994 the GIA brought its jihad to Europe, as GIA operatives hijacked an Air France airplane at the Algiers airport. The terrorists planned to crash the plane into the Eiffel Tower. French Special Forces stormed the plane in Marseille, killing the terrorists and preventing what could have been a gruesome predecessor to 9/11. Proving the GIA’s link to al Qaeda’s global jihad, one of the hijackers’ demands was the release of Omar Abdel Rahman, the infamous blind sheik imprisoned in the United States for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Further proof of GIA’s ties to al Qaeda’s global jihad is supplied by the history of its official newsletter, al Ansar. Al Ansar’s top editors were not Algerians, but rather two of the most important al Qaeda leaders of the last decade. One of them, the Palestinian cleric Abu Qatada, has been dubbed “Al Qaeda’s ideologue” in Europe by Spanish authorities. The other, Syrian national Abu Musab al Suri, is believed to have been one of the masterminds of the March 11 train bombings in Madrid and to be closely linked to Abu Musab al Zarqawi, the current leader of the Iraqi insurgency. Al Ansar is just an example of how GIA’s battle was closely connected to al Qaeda’s global jihad.

As you can see (as often is the case), these constant new terror groups arising often have much deeper roots with terror. Several posters have noted that the terror of Islam is 1400 years old. Only now the world is taking note. Slowing the world is beginning to take action against the terrorists, The world needs to step up the pace to eliminate Islam. And if Muslims want to kill Muslims , so be it. Muslims want to kill you, make no doubt about it. Muslims want your money, your land and your freedom. Islam is an evil doctrine with deep roots indeed.

oh my, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was the leader of the Iraqi insurgency. He was killed by US forces who received word of his location by--unofficially--his own people. What a group, these Muslims are. They hold many surprises.

And yet the mulim Brotherhood was to host the "Great mulim Adventure Day" at Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey today with Sh. Yasir Qadhi leading prayers. Thank goodness it's raining here in the east. Just another example of political correctness, I guess.

The new game of hide & seek--called find me in southern Lebanon? Goat rides with a new twist? Pet the slobbering camel? target shooting with real bullets? Screaming and ranting / raving contests? Just what would we see on a great Muslim Adventure day???

Didn't see any of those events you wrote, but would have been a hoot to see. I was thinking of going there, when I emailed six flags to ask if this was for muslims only, they kindly replyed " This is a private event and any questions should be directed to the mulsim organization."
