Eurabia Alert From the Jerusalem Post: "Al-Qaida cell targeted Oslo synagogue"
An al-Qaida-linked Algerian terror cell that was broken up by Italian police last fall was planning to carry out attacks on targets in Oslo, Norway, including the city's main synagogue.
Anne Sender, president of Norway's Jewish community, told The Jerusalem Post during a telephone interview from Oslo that local authorities had informed her shortly after the suspects were arrested in November that there existed a credible terrorist threat against the synagogue.
The plot came to light only this week in the wake of a report on Monday in the Norwegian Verdens Gang (VG) newspaper.
"At the time, we were informed by the government that some people had been caught in Italy and that police had found plans indicating that they were targeting the synagogue in Oslo," Sender said.
She added that the threat was considered sufficiently serious that, in its wake, Norwegian police decided to adopt additional, unspecified measures to boost security at the synagogue.
The terrorists, who resided in Italy but were allegedly plotting attacks against sites in Oslo, belonged to an Algerian-based group known as the GSPC, a French acronym which stands for the Salafist Group for Call and Combat.
The GSPC, which has links to al-Qaida, is a splinter faction that broke away from Algeria's Armed Islamic Group in 1996.
The GSPC is not only "has links" to al-Qaeda, but very recently pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

In the past few months, Oslo has been the scene of a number of anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist incidents, including an attack on the synagogue last month, where an unknown perpetrator smashed glass windows and scrawled graffiti on the site after defecating near the entrance.
"99 percent of the time it is fine, it is safe, and there is no problem at all, but we do have these incidents," added Sender. "Maybe we are a little naive, but we always seem to think that Norway is separate, that it is different and that it is unaffected by what goes on in the rest of the world."

99% of the time and people are OK in Norway. Lets see, if 1% of the people are violent Jihadists, and there were 10 million people in the country, Then are are only about 100,000 violent jihadists plotting for death and destruction. Sounds like 1% could still be a big problem!?

When does Norway get an apology? I demand an apology. I think I may start a riot in Oslo and attack the mosques. Rauss!

Defacated near the entrance? Sounds about right. Was this by an 'Asian' or a 'youth' or perhaps by some 'foreigner'? In PC Norway, we wouldn't want to use the "I" word, or heavens forbid the "M" word, would we? Al-Qaida is about as close to the truth as we are allowed to get... Sounds about right, pee and pooh on temple steps, but don't say anything else. Shhh! Don't talk.

-- from the article above
Oriana Fallaci wrote about the Muslims who squatted in Florence and deliberately urinated on the walls and "gates of Paradise" done by Ghiberti at the Baptistery (Battistero). In a column critical of Oriana Fallaci (and others) one Cathy Young made fun of Fallaci's mention of these pissing-on-Christ Somalis, as if it were merely a question of bladders that had to be emptied. Young, who still knows nothing of Islam, was answered here. It was pointed out that even if there were not bathrooms -- and there were, provided by the Italian state -- there was no need to urinate deliberately on and in churches (nor was there any need for the "Palestinians" who took over the Church of the Nativity to defecate all over, as they did). It's an expression of hatred, of contempt. Oslo, Florence, Bethlehem, all over the place -- not merely a case of not making it to a bathroom on time. When the Cathy Youngs and Ralph Peters of this world begin to get a glimmer of understanding of this, then possibly they will begin, as well, to understand the attitudes and atmospherics that arise naturally from the teachings of Islam, and stop substituting their personal, anecdotal evidence (this or that nice Muslim officer whom Peters has met, this or that nice Muslim colleague or friend whom Young may have, or thinks ought to remain a theoretical possibility).
Eventually the truth will be understood by a sufficient number of people.
But when? Next year? Or twenty years from now?
