Jihad Watch reader Cindy has alerted me to this story in the Bandar Beacon, aka the Washington Post, and comments: "Mind you, the article is not about how Muslims are increasingly harrassing us -- this is CAIR complaining that there has been a sharp rise in anti-Muslim attacks both on the street and on the Internet. Not that they named names...Too bad I'm not a statistician, otherwise I might be tempted to believe that reported incidents of harrassment would increase in direct proportion to the attacks upon the West by Muslims. Call me a cynic."

"Anti-Muslim Harassment Complaints Jump 30 Percent," from the Post:
Complaints of anti-Muslim harassment, violence and discriminatory treatment registered with a national Muslim civil rights group jumped 30 percent in 2005 from the previous year, the group said today in releasing its annual report.The 1,972 complaints made to the Council on American-Islamic Relations are the most the group has received since it began the annual reports following anti-Muslim incidents after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. The group said it actually received 2,300 reports but deemed some of them illegitimate.
The number of complaints has continually risen since 1995, but began spiking significantly in 2003, the report said. CAIR officials said the jump between 2004 and 2005 seems to be due to "a rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric fed by the Internet and also on talk radio," group spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said at a news conference. "You can't turn on the radio without hearing negative, bigoted comments about Islam."...The highest number of complaints fall into the "due process" category, said CAIR Legal Director Arsalan Iftikhar; those include complaints such as racial profiling and unreasonable arrest or interrogation. Second are complaints of religious accommodation being denied and third are complaints of employment discrimination, according to the report.
CAIR officials pushed at the conference for law enforcement authorities to investigate complaints thoroughly. Federal officials "do a very good job," at investigating whether crimes such as arson or assault have a religious bias, but "you get more resistance at the local level."
However, the group said some post-Sept. 11 policy initiatives -- including the "infamous" Patriot Act, as the group described the law in announcing the report on its Web site -- have unfairly focused on Muslims. "Muslims take the brunt of it," Hooper said.
Unfortunately, Ibrahim, Al-Qaeda and other groups have also unfairly focused on Muslims in their recruitment efforts. Oddly enough, Al-Qaeda doesn't have too many Presbyterian members.
In an effort to combat ignorance about the faith, CAIR began offering free copies of the Koran and copies of a PBS documentary about the prophet Muhammad earlier this year after deadly rioting about the Danish cartoon controversy. The group said that 30,000 copies of the Koran and 14,500 copies of the documentary have been requested.
Of course, it's always all because of ignorance. If only we were enlightened, we wouldn't notice all the jihad violence all over the world every day.

What exactly does this denial of religious accomodation refer to? To what extent are non-Muslims required to conform to Sharia? Are we failing to accomodate by drinking alcohol, or by the presence of it at workplace events? Is open criticism of the Jihad ideology non-accomodation? Is the presence of a cross, or a too-tall Church or Synogogue, near a Mosque a failure to accomodate? What is the boundary between reasonable accomodation and creeping tyranny? This question is germane, because as we know, in every outright Islamic nation, the accomodations that required of non-Muslims are beyond onerous.

CAIR complains about hate crimes against Muslims yet is the ultimate hypocrite as they refuse to condemn hate crimes perpetrated by Muslims against Jews, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists. Little attention should be given to them except by the FBI, CIA, etc.

I am not a victim.
But if I were wired to be a victim everything that happens could be blamed on someone else by personalizing every event that happens.
For instance some one cuts me off on the road, some one does not hold the door open for me, some one glances at me longer then normal, I don't hear please or thank you, the list could go on. Things happen to all of us, it is called life.
Islam is a ideology that has a belief system and worship built on conspiracy theories. Name enough events and occasionally one might be right. And of course even a broken watch is correct two times a day.
I agree with Robert S. If you attack me or my country, I am not going to like you and you are certainly going to know it.

I was born a Christian, or at least baptised methodist. I grew up to dislike their messages, then the Presbyterians and the episcopalians. I had two theologian parents. We argued religeon over sunday lunch after services. We drew no punches. I can argue in Religeon. And as a result I decided it was not for me. I didn't become a Buddist, Mormon, or Jain. I just withdrew consent from Christianity. It doesn't mean I'm a mass murderer. I still live a decent life, help my fellow humans, do my bit.
We can all leave the clubs we no longer approve of.
Ok you Moderate Muslims, if you don't approve, leave the club. We're not trying to make you Christian. Just leave the religeon you don't approve of. It has surely abandonned you? We won't despise you for leaving a society you can no longer support.
Or do you, secretly, approve of beheading the pope, burning the infidels, bombing our cities, putting us to the sword?

I'm a mite confused: since when has "religious accommodation being denied" the equivalent of harassment"?
And how many of these "complaints" were actually found to have reasonable grounds? The fact that there are complaints does not automatically prove that all this so-called discrimination is going on. An unfortunately large segment of our society are all too ready to embrace victimhood and scream "discrimination" at the drop of a hat. Feeling discriminated against does not ipso facto make you discriminated against. Witness the group of Muslim students who recently lauched a dsicrimination case at McGill Universtiy in Montreal, about there being Chrstian chapels on campus (McGill having been founded in the 19th century, when nearly 100 percent of Canada's population was either Catholic or Protestant) but no designated "prayer rooms" on campus for them to use.
CAIR is a about as reliable as a source of truth as, well, a bunch of laywers.

We are supposed to believe that CAIR rejected more than 300 complaints because they were illegitimate? If anything, I'd believe that they received 1,972 complaints to begin with, and added another 328 to arrive at the 2,300 number.
When will CAIR be outlawed like the CPUSA, or ELF? After a mushroom cloud over LA, Chicago, NY by one of their constituents?

There are a lot of things I don't like Lord knows but at the top of my list are crybabies who can dish it out but can't take it. These people(muslims) are world class whiners. I do not however,wish to have a reputation as a heartless American so...when the going becomes just too much to take for you muslims..you know..like when someone in the supermarket gives you one of THOSE looks! After listening to all the lemmings on talk radio this morning about this subject of peaceful islam, and the fact that most of these people can't see what's going on three feet in front of their faces, we cannot do this soon enough.

I believe I've seen the PBS special they refer to; a Muslim co-worker who'd been trying to convert me suggested I watch it. The special shows families in Dearborn, MI, and talks about Mighty Mo's escapades. I don't remember anything said about his nubile prepubescent bride, but the explanation for the Jews being slaughtered was that he'd allowed them to stay in his town (Medina?) as long as they would fight with him. When the town was attacked, not only did those wiley Jews not fight with him, they joined the other army and fought against him. In the end, Mo's army won and he asked a mortally wounded Mo-soldier what to do with the losing army. Mortally wounded told Mo to kill all the men, take the women and children to be slaves, then split up the wives of the dead Mo-army & make them new wives. It was interesting enough, but not enough for me to go waving a blade around hysterically, screaming, "Allahu akbar!!!"
Maybe CAIR is including any negative blogs as harassment. If I threatened to kill Ibrahim Hooper, would I get arrested?

The reason the "Muslim race" gets harassed is because it worships the perverted teachings of its perverted prophet. We see what Islam is and always has been, and we don't accept it here. Americans who understand the values of freedom and liberty for all people are getting sick of turning on their televisions and seeing the daily chaos being caused in the world by followers of Islam. Tired of being threatened by scuzzy men wrapped up in bed linens, tired of the taqiyya and tu quoque, tired of so-called 'moderate' Muslims not speaking out against the violence being perpetrated in the name of their religion, tired of the fanaticism, tired of the faked victimization, tired of everything Islam. Expect more harassment as more truth is revealed.

I have never known Irshad Manji to coo about the beauties of Islam without addressing it to intolerant Islamists who would narrow Islamic thought to the single Wahabbi sect's literalism that spawns all the terrorism we (and she) despises. I have never heard of or read of Manji urging the conversion of anyone to Islam and I've watched her for some time. On the contrary, she states flatly that if Islam won't reform itself, she's out of there. I've seen her stand up to Muslim "leaders" in her community and tell them, yes, she's a lesbian, but do Al-Qaeda blow up buildings and butcher people because she's a lesbian? She supports the state of Israel and understands that most anti-Israeli feeling and policy is based on lies and anti-Semitism and she says so. I've seen her interrupt one of her community's "leaders" and say "That's not what you said off-stage. You didn't say 'the Israelis' You said 'the Jews!'" I simply don't believe she recommended conversion for the pope or anyone else.
That woman has more courage in her little toe than you have in your whole body and she faces threats daily that wouldn't have the guts to do. I am as dedicated an opponent of Jihad as anyone (and so is she: she publicly supports the Iraq War—more dangerous for her than you and I) and your kind of talk will make you a nice little place in an armchair clique but it won't win us any converts and it won't win us any wars.

WELL LET'S JUST SEE Wasn't in July of 2006 or was it August that a mulsums pushed his way into a Jewish center and killed a woman and shot 5 other unarmed women??
Wasn't it just last year or less that a mulsum ran over a bunch of people at a school in NC??
And of course that is just 2 are these the harsassment they are talken about??
OR maybe it was the Jewish School fire bomed by mulsums in Baltimore Yea that must be it?
