Pope again asked to convert to Islam

Some Muslims will not be satisfied until the Pope actually becomes a Muslim. The Pope's first "invitation" to Islam came from Gaza. Now another comes from Qaddafi's son -- who challenges Benedict on the faith-and-reason grounds of the pontiff's original speech. "Pope asked to convert to Islam," from AFP, with thanks to Ray:

Tripoli - The elder son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has called on Pope Benedict XVI to convert to Islam immediately, dismissing last week's apology from the pontiff for offending Muslims.

"If this person were really someone reasonable, he would not agree to remain at his post one minute, but would convert to Islam immediately," Mohammed Gaddafi told an awards ceremony on Monday evening for an international competition to memorise the Qur'an.

"We say to the pope - whether you apologise or not is irrelevant, as apologies make no difference to us."

Gaddafi junior also hit out at "those Muslims who look for comfort in the words of a non-Muslim".

He said Muslims "should not look for charity from the infidel... but should fight Islam's enemies who attack the faith and the Prophet Muhammad".

Where on earth did Mohammed Gaddafi get that idea? I expect he will soon be receiving a strongly-worded letter from Ibrahim Hooper.

All those asking the Pope to convert to islam, they should hold their breath. For as long as it takes.

How about this...we "convert" the lands of Islam into places like Hiroshima.

Islam is a mental disorder.

"
Mohammed Gaddafi told an awards ceremony on Monday evening for an international competition to memorise the Qur'an."

What kind of international competition is this for?

to memorise the Qur'an??--It is required of all Muslims. As I understand, failure to not memorise the Evil Text can have dire conquences.

I suspect all contestants were Muslims who have been politically indoctrinated.

What were the judging requirements and exactly what was the competition format?

Memorising the evil text does little to benefit the Muslim people.

Growing food, creating jobs, engaging in the world market, improving the standard of life and lowering infant deaths seem to be better goals the being able to recite some old perverts tales of mahem.

This makes perfect sense on part of the ummah. If he doesn't endorse the Shehada, then in Islam-speak, he isn't being truthful, and if he isn't being truthful, his apology isn't genuine, and if his apology isn't genuine, it means that he still believes that Islam is violent, in which the ummah's definition varies from everyone else's.

The normal meaning

American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source
vi·o·lence (v-lns)n.

1. Physical force exerted for the purpose of violating, damaging, or abusing: crimes of violence.
2. The act or an instance of violent action or behavior.
3. Intensity or severity, as in natural phenomena; untamed force: the violence of a tornado.
4. Abusive or unjust exercise of power.
5. Abuse or injury to meaning, content, or intent: do violence to a text.
6. Vehemence of feeling or expression; fervor.
The Islamic meaning:

vi·o·lence (v-lns)n.

1. Physical force exerted for the purpose of violating, damaging, or abusing Islam's right to conquer the world: crimes of violence against the unchecked spread of Islam
2. The act or an instance of violent action or behavior aimed at preventing Islam from taking over the world;
3. Intensity or severity, as in natural phenomena; untamed force: the violence of a tornado, such as Pvt Katrina, which waged a Jihad on New Orleans.
4. Abusive or unjust exercise of power, unjust implying the denial of the Allah/Mohammed monopoly on divinity
5. Abuse or injury to meaning, content, or intent: do violence to a text, such as imply that the Quran promotes hatred, intolerance, cruelty, etc.
6. Vehemence of feeling or expression; fervor, such as the Crusades, but not the various jihads.
If one looks at the Islamic definition of violence, of course Islam is non-violent. After all, none of the wars waged by the Mohammedans were done for the sake of preventing Islam from spreading, rather they were done to spread Islam. (Yes, this is what the Pope was citing Emperor Manuel II as saying, but that wasn't the meaning of violence that Muslims attach to the word).

To us, it may look ironic that Muslims were trying to disprove the Byzantine emperor's contention that they are spreading their religion through violence by resorting to violence and demanding that the Pope embrace their religion, or else they'll continue to react with... violence. But look at their twisted interpretation of the word, and one will see that if they are spreading their 'religion', then it's by definition not violent.

Take a minute to let this sink in. They use Orwellian terminology that we might as well get used to.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=49&chapter=4&version=31
5And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The nerve of these muslims!

Go and get your own Caliph, the Pope's already taken by the Catholic Church.

Posted by: GreatShaitan [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 19, 2006 12:45 PM

If there was even one Muslim out there with an ounce of intelligence who was able to put forth reasonable and intelligent reasons of why Islam is the 'true' faith then maybe at best we could expect an interesting and intelligent theological discussion on the differences and similarities between Islam and Catholic Christianity.

However all I've seen is violence and utter stupidy from the Muslim side. Pope Benedict will die first before becoming a Muslim. As much respect as he may have for other religions, even Islam, anyone who has read his works both as Cardinal and now his one Encyclical as Pope realizes that he knows why he is Catholic and what exactly the type of G-d he believes in and I can surely tell you it isn't the Islamic conception of G-d either.

Re: Maxinfidal assertion that if Pope Benedict is killed the Catholic world will do nothing; I would not be so sure. I would say that superficially at first nothing would happen, but I imagine that pockets of more conservative Catholics would start to become more active. Right now, due to the 60s blech, a lot of liberal lay-people and priest are in charge and cannot distingish between being a peace-maker and being a pacifist. Even Augustine argued the 'just war' scenerio.

I personally am ready for a fight, but would prefer a peaceful solution. However.. and this important. In order to have Peace.. BOTH side must want it. Guess what... Muslims... radical Muslims.. Don't. They have told us that. They continue to tell us that. They continue to blow up persons and things. We better get a darn good grip on reality fast.

I know that nobody, especially those that survived World War II, want to imagine another World War, or another Hitler-isque or Nazi like society, but its here and it has declared war on the West. Yes, you heard me the West.. it might now be PC, but the West is being threatened with complete destruction so shove PC and get with it. Either we win or they win. There is no peace in our time with this enemy. Fine.

Infidel Pride, your summary of Islam Logic 101 as it relates to the term 'violence' is brilliant. A similar logic (or illogic) can be applied to the Islamic definitions of 'peace' and 'freedom'. Maybe its time someone wrote a book so that us non-muslims could better understand what muslims mean when they use such terms. I even have a readily available title for such a book: "The Idiots Guide to Islamic terms and logic"!

It's under construction as we speak. Archimedes, Caroline, Television and I have been working on the template of a handbook for Infidels that would rebut some 90 apologist points made for Islam, and the above would be a part of the glossary. We haven't completed laying out the template as yet (which is why we haven't yet thrown it open to the rest of the public here), but once we do, we were planning to come back here and invite other contributors to pitch in and tackle these topics.

You, and anyone else who's interested, can have a sneak preview on what we have so far by visiting the site below. A few sample rebuttals have already been posted which readers can read.

http://islam-watch.org/CommunityServer/forums/19/ShowForum.aspx

We'll be back here soliciting contributions in terms of people's time and effort, once we are ready.

In Mark it says:

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you prostrate yourself and worship me."

Doesn't the "prostration" thing kind of ring a bell? Watch how the Moslems pray.

In Judaism prostration is strictly "verboten." It's more the devil's style.

Pope Benedict has gotten the invite? Anybody know when he'll be murdered? I mean, this is all according to the holy scriptures of Islam, you know.

If anybody would like to hear what I have to say about this piece of anal detrius and his goat fornicating father, come to the village where I was born and brought up and I will tell you, because if I said how I really felt about them I would be banned, in fact I will show you, I will take you to a quiet corner of the old church yard and show you a grave, its getting a bit shabby now. There is a young local couple buried there, they had just got married and were flying to America for there honeymoon. There plane blew up over Lockerbie.

Infidel Pride, Razdan,

Add to it also the Islamic concept of

"religion" -- means only Islam
"din" -- same as religion
"justice" -- only Islamic justice
"peace" -- only under Islam.

These are important as it pertains to Islamic concept of eschatology ... the events of the Last Days. Islam expects al-Mahdi to come and lead the Muslims in jihad against the rest of the world so as to usher in a time of peace and justice.

"The elder son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has called on Pope"

This one was interviewed in the documentary "Nuclear Jihad". He cackled mischievously at the prospect of Libya having nuclear weapons, and tried to leave the audience guessing as to the extent of Libya's relations with A.Q. Khan, how much technology was shared, etc.

We're used to it, but try explaining it to Condi and GWB. They'll never get it. Bush becomes more enamored and defensive of islam every day; he might even love muslims more than Mexicans. The more heinous atrocities they commit, the more blood-curdling threats they scream, the more apologies they demand, the more GWB insists that islam is a religion of peace and that we're not at war with islam.

Maybe he's not at war with islam, but I am.

the muslilm world keeps on proving how murderous their relgion of peace really is. they will be sorry for their actions, as we in the west will have the last words.

The Pope ought to demand that those Muslims who have invited him to convert should apologise to him for their insolence. Just for fun, he might add, diplomatically, that, for a culture that has achieved so little, he finds their overweening sense of self-regard as incomprehensible as it is insufferable.

Posted by: wallyUK [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 20, 2006 12:17 AM

Islamic hubris at its most typical.

What about asking Osama Bin Laden, Ayman al Zawahiry and Mullah Omar to convert to Judaism?

Posted by: rocky [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 20, 2006 7:38 AM

Daniel Pipes recently wrote an article on Pope Benedict's remarks at U Regensburg in which he cites the opinion of the head of the Benedictine Order, Abbot Wolf, that Benedict was "a blatant allusion to Ahmadinejad" and Vatican "insiders" told the Sunday Times (of Lonodn) that Benedict was attempting to pre-empt an aggressive letter from Ahmadenajad aimed at the papacy, noting that the Muslim being debated by Manuael II Paleoglogus was a Persian.

Gotta hand it to Benedict for his scholarliness and his not so-subtle subtlety.

Meanwhile, over at MEMRI, there's an interesting op-ed from a Kuwaiti daily cautioning Ahamdinejad against his arrogance that notes that Iran has actually opened wars on three fronts, Iraq, Lebanon and Kuwait (via Kuwait's border with Iraq), raising and lowering the heat depending on where things lie with Tehran's nuclear projects and the threat of sanctions:

Funny thing about this here Islam thing-people are either to convert to it or be killed. I guess this cult spawns hypocrisy since many people will "convert" on pain of death even though they really don't buy all of its nonsense. At least there's some democracy in Islam- the convert who really doesn't believe is equal to a Muslim born into this foolishness, right? He will get all of the benefits that the true believer gets. Hmm, sign me up right after the Pope converts because I wouldn't mind getting 72 virgins just like Khomeini did when he finally dropped dead.

How laughable.
