While the first report of a jihadist training camp emphasized the presence of foreign fighters, these are more domestically oriented, focusing on indoctrinating Somali youth. From AP: "Islamic militia to open 'holy war' camps in Somalia"
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- The hard-line Islamic militia that controls much of southern Somalia said Tuesday it will open training camps in schools to prepare students for holy war, an ominous development amid fears that a Taliban-style regime is emerging in eastern Africa.
[...]
Tuesday's announcement of holy war training camps was the militants' latest attempt to discourage foreign interference in the country. Last month, seven African countries, known by the acronym IGAD, endorsed a plan to send 3,500 Ugandan and Sudanese soldiers here.
"Our policy is to fight against countries in IGAD who are our foes," said Fuad Mohammed Kalaf, the Islamic group's education official. He said the training camps in high schools will be established soon but officials were still working out the details.
"There is nothing wrong with our plan to train students," he said. "There are a lot of countries in the world that carry out such exercises."

We need to let the enemy know that any jihad camps no matter where in the world in what country they are located are fair game for obliteration. Regardless of what human shields and "reporters" happen to be hanging out there at the opportune time for bombing.
Sorry but this is a harsh world. I didn't make it that way nor do I want it to be like this. But them be the facts...

Agreed totally. I have harped on the same point, using SF or whatever resource is best for the mission. Sovereignty be damned. If it's going to be them or us, it is going to be them. There are plenty of men in uniform ready to do it, too. Too many of them are spinning their wheels in Iraq.
I realize DEBKA is not a consistently reliable source, but this is a related topic closer to home. Jihadists are all over South America if you believe Paul Williams, but this strikes me as just as believable. Iranian operatives based in Venezuela and later Cuba:

Lets add Somalia to the big list of countries that are against us!
Iran
North Korea
Syria
Lebanon(Hezbollah)
Gaza(Hamas)
Pakistan
China
Venezuela
Cuba
SOMALIA
WOOOOO! It seems like all of these are preparing for war with us and it seems we are not preparing for with with anybody! Can someone please tell me what is going on here?!

Ahmadinejad's support is growing so much, we should be starting a military plan to oust him. He is described by moslems on the street as "the speaker of the moslem world, and 'one of us'" He makes Bush look like a blubbering idiot, he totally confuses everybody about what he is really up to. I have a bad feeling Ahmadinejad will be sitting in Jerusalem :-\

Geez... I must have missed the Jihadist military training camps experience when I was a foreign exchange student.
Here in the States we have ROTC, but that is a course mainly in discipline and defending the U.S.A, not killing others because they are not of the same religion.
Book recommendation time:
Check out Dr. Seuss goes to War. It's a GREAT collection of World War II cartoons that he wrote. Now substitute Islamic militants for Nazi's; George Bush for FDR and Blair for Churchhill. The U.N. for the League of Nations. It's REALLY scary how fitting the cartoons are for the age we are in. I'd really recommend the book. Maybe I should send a copy to our congress persons! LOL! (Only laughing because of the state I am in - Our congress persons are Democrats and very blinded when it comes to reality)

Somebody really needs to invent some sort of spray to kill these Islamaniacs in their jihad training camps. Just like Black Flag for cockroaches since Islamaniacs breed like them and are found practically everywhere in the world.

This might be OT, but it shows how the muslim mind works.
"Bodies found in the Baghdad morgue "often bear signs of severe torture including acid-induced injuries and burns caused by chemical substances, missing skin, broken bones - back, hands and legs - missing eyes, missing teeth and wound caused by power drill or nails," the report said.
"You have terrorist groups, you have the military, you have police, you have these militias. There are so many people who are actually abducted, seriously tortured and finally killed," Mr Nowak said.
"It’s not just torture by the government. There are much more brutal methods of torture you’ll find by private militias," he added."

Isn't it time we took both hands from behind our backs and fought these people on their own terms?
The way that they fight us is acceptable to them so why don't we fight them in exactly the same way?
We didn't make the rules, we abide by the rules and as far as I can see we are not exactly winning are we.
It is now time to throw away the rule book, if we lose we lose everything, lowering ourselves to their standards is not a good thing but it's better than losing .

Ugandan students training for terror tactics?
HMMMMM, let's see, In Uganda ----to the North you have the Sudan, any strife or atrocities being committed there?
To the south , you find Rwanda-----just above Rwanda you find Buganda---let's see if there is any recent atrocities being committed between these two localities.
To the west you find Zhaire----let's see if you can find atrocities being committed here.
In the Sudan:
The Sudanese government and its Janjaweed militias—many of which have recently been incorporated into the army, police and other government forces—are responsible for a scorched-earth campaign of “ethnic cleansing,” which since early 2003 has turned the previously self-sufficient agrarian and pastoral region into the site of one of the world’s most serious humanitarian disasters.
Despite a ceasefire agreement in April between the Sudanese government and two rebel groups in Darfur, the past few months have seen a new surge in fighting. Continued attacks on civilians and aid workers have hampered relief operations to the more than 1.6 million people who have fled government and militia attacks on their villages since early 2003.
Several hundred thousand people were cut off from aid in late 2004 because of these new attacks. Recent fighting has also caused thousands more civilians to flee their homes. Most of the displaced people are farmers, and the region’s annual harvest has fallen to less than 20% of the usual food production as a result.
“This is a critical moment for Darfur,” Takirambudde said. “The government’s failure to prosecute those responsible for war crimes has meant continued insecurity for civilians
In Rwanda:
In the spring of 1994, more than one million
people were murdered in the Rwandan genocide.
In Zaire (aka the Republic of the Congo)
By 1996, tensions from the neighboring Rwanda war and genocide had spilled over to Zaire (see History of Rwanda). Rwandan Hutu militia forces (Interahamwe), who had fled Rwanda following the ascension of a Tutsi-led government, had been using Hutu refugees camps in eastern Zaire as a basis for incursion against Rwanda. These Hutu militia forces soon allied with the Zairian armed forces (FAZ) to launch a campaign against Congolese ethnic Tutsis in eastern Zaire. In turn, these Tutsis formed a militia to defend themselves against attacks. When the Zairian government began to escalate its massacres in November 1996, the Tutsi militias erupted in rebellion against Mobutu.
It would appear to me that Muslims are training to form a force to create terror in already strife torn areas and place Muslim control in effect. The terror trainees will not go to these places to try to instill peace in the people.
Do not forget the strife in Uganda:
Matters could be even worse elsewhere in Ituri province, where Lendu and Hema are struggling for supremacy following the withdrawal of Ugandan troops from the region two weeks ago.
Ituri has suffered some of the worst atrocities in Congo's five-year war, the deadliest conflict since the Second World War. Aid agencies estimate that more than a million people have lost their lives.
At least 50,000 civilians have been killed in the province in ethnic violence fanned by Uganda which, with Rwanda, invaded Congo in 1998 in an attempt to topple dictator Laurent Kabila.
Uganda has exploited tribal differences between Hema and Lendu, successively arming both tribes. The subsequent instability provided "justification" for the continued presence of its troops in the mineral-rich province.
Muslims with terror training going into these areas is not a good sign.
