What we need are pundits and pols (especially Rush and Oreilly) to state the obvious, that everytime muslims act out, they prove the truthfulness of the Pope comments and those of other critics.

Speaking only for myself, I have no problem when religious leaders speak of the truth of their beliefs and even the error(s) of other belief systems. After all, by definition there is only one truth and everything else is something less than that. (Please note that this is not an expression of post modern thinking. I do not hold all “truths” to be equally valid.).

Thomas Jefferson is credited as saying “Whether a man has one god or twenty neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket.”

My problem with Islam (other than I think it is less than the truth) is that it seeks to do both. It would oppress me, affording me at best dhimmi status, and it would impose a tax on me specifically for the privilege of this second/third class citizenship.

So that you know that this isn’t entirely OT, I agree that this article demonstrates yet again the tendency that the practitioners the Islam to shamelessly subsume (sincere thanks to APF for the newest word in my vocabulary) and appropriate as they see fit.

If so, then what do we see as the "in your face" changes to Judaism and Christianity . The removal of death, killing, destruction, slavery, etc. Thats what they imply was removed to taint the teachings of Judaism and Christians.

At first glance I thought the headlines read: "Pope should know that had it not been for Islam and its divine book, nothing would have been left BUT Christianity and Judaism." Of course, this wouldn't have been fair to the other religions of the world, but it obviously would be true for these 3 religions. In my understanding, if Abraham had obeyed God, we would not have the Islamic religion. Is this commonly accepted as true or is it just a clever theory? I really don't know, but if the Islamic people are descended from Ishmael, it would seem to be true. Sarai grew impatiant with God to give her a son by Abraham and gave to her husband Hagar, her slave, to have a son by. That son was Ishmael. Years later, Sarah had Isaac by Abraham. This is what the Angel of Yehweh said to Hagar: (Gen.16:11-12) "Now you have conceived, and you will bear a son, and you shall name him Ishmael, for Yahweh has heard your cries of distress. A wild-ass of a man he will be, against every man,and every man against him, setting himself to defy all his brothers." I don't think of this quote as a generalization of all Muslims, by any means. But I am starting to think that it is the Muslims who truly hear and love God that have the true divine book written on their hearts and they are the ones who worship Allah in spirit and in truth.

He deliberately put Islam into the world to spice things up, just as he deliberately put those "best of people", the Arabs on top of all that oil in the Middle East, knowing these days would come and Islam would become resurgent.

None of this should surprise any of you. The islamic world has always controlled its people by churning up anger and rage and directing it away from themselves. They refused the Popes apology and now they need a way to spin up the people and focus all the rage they themselves have churned up. This was tactically a brilliant move, although it will back fire. More important than the day of rage is the fact they are vastly more organized than those we pay to watch them realize. Most religions would be hard pressed to convince all their clerics to teach the same theme to the entire global flock, I have to say I am impressed, who saw this one coming?

This also will work against them. It is hard to hide millions of nut jobs playing a dangerous version of follow the leader. People will notice and long remember this. Attack the head of any religion and the blow back is bound to cause even those who don’t follow that faith to rally for the underdog. Which in this case is the Pope. He is obviously under attack and most thinking people will realize his only “crime” was telling the truth, which is sort of the job of the Pope. People will remember this and similar events and then attempt to remember when muslims responded appropriately to any other event. They will fail as the traditional muslim response is always rage, anger and violence.

More importantly, this will help to make people aware that it does not matter if they are sunni muslim, shia muslim or pick another brand of muslim-they are all muslim. This helps destroy the myth of the “moderate” muslim and once again shows the world we only have a few words to explain muslims and moderate is not one of them. They all use the same playbook. The truth is a powerful weapon and tends to spread.

So what did the muslim world accomplish? Military recruiting for the US Army is the highest in years. The number one county and western song is (Big and Rich’s the 8th of November) and it is a tribute to the fighting spirit of the American serviceman. The popularity of islam is declining. Are these related events? Yeppers, our military has once again raised its popularity and as always islam has declined.

When we need them this nations youth has always risen to the occasion. Having seen these kids work, I can tell you this generation of American Warriors is as good or better than all the previous generations. It is hard to believe that when you see the spiked hair and body art in all its forms but it is the truth. They are motivated, highly trained and extremely lethal.

When I was on active duty we always attempted to consider second and third order effects into our planning process. It appears to me islam has once again failed to do so. Keep up your rage and venting your anger my muslim foes. We will continue to watch and slowly ask the rest of the world to take notice.

I'm not as offended as others at the theological supremacy. He is, after all, a Muslim, and that's what Muslims believe. I have no problem with his assertion of his own beliefs.

On other hand, I would expect that he would respect me when I say, no, the Koran is not a divine document, but either man-made dripping up from Mohammed's subconscious, or else demonic in origin and a satanic perversion of the message of the New Testament.

Muslims, use your minds here. If your book says that our scriptures are correct, that ALL the ancient evidences show that nothing doctinally has changed in Jewish and Christian scriptures for centuries prior to the (unfortunate) advent of Mohammed, and Mohammed's writings are contrary to what our scriptures say, then LOGICALLY one must conclude that the Quran is at fault.

It's going to have to take more than "clerics" SAYING that our Bible is "corrupted." All evidences says otherwise. If they can show us HOW the Bible is "corrupted," basing their argument on ancient texts, then let them do so. However, the facts are not on their side. They do not have a toe to stand on.

I took you up on your challenge, and have preliminary results from perusing the USC online Qur'an for a text search of "Jesus".

I regret to inform you (though I suspect your challenge is rhetorical and that none of this is news), that despite reasonable familiarity with the Christian scriptures, I recognized no quotations of Christ from the New Testament, or paraphrases, or anything substantively reminiscent. There is, of course, the expected statements denying the deity of Christ, the claim he was just a prophet, the denial of the crucifixion, etc.

Has this guy never heard of the Dead Dea scrolls? The Aramaic Targums? The Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible? The Greek, Latin, and Aramaic New Testament manuscripts?

They are by no means preserved perfectly, but to say that the main points are lost is ignoring the abundant evidence. There are indeed textual variations (i.e. copying errors) but that in normal in any ancient text, including the Koran.

This guy should ask himself why one Muslim ruler (I forget his name) had to destroy competing Koran manuscripts. Or what the Koran fragments found in Yemen that differ from today's Koran?

It is actually a wonder that Christianity and Judaism survived Islam.

Tariq Ramadan was in a TV discussion the other night saying that Europe should stop referring to itself as coming from a Judaeo-Christian tradition. Given the amount it had borrowed from Islamic civilisation it should call it n Islamo-Judaeo-Christian tradition. In fact Europeans have been precisely aware of what they have and what they haven't borrowed from the Arabs (almost exclusively in the 12th century) ever since and have still most definitely defined themselves as anti-Islamic. Standing as bulwark against Islam is what Europe is all about -it's virtually the defining purpose of its population - all this Pope rage may help wake people on this continent up and realise their historic duty.

Islam is a perversion of both the Jewish and Christian faiths. The Koran is not made up of good literature. There is nothing poetic in the verses. My copy shows that the Koran is a jumble of nothing or empty verses because Islam is false and it was started by a false prophet.

For good measure Tariq Ramadan is a revisionist historian who knows nothing. He is a liar and he practices deceit at every level.

Nothing to do with islam .When muslim rats conquered the eastern part of former Roman empire under Bizance rules , the inherited all the bizantin civilization .The muslims added to it some parts of chinese culture and science they brought from china through the silk road .Even the Zero number that muslims boast to have invented came in fact from an Indian mathematician .
