Car dealer caves to CAIR, drops 'Jihad' radio ad

Hooper.jpg
CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper: would you buy a used car from this man?

I have canceled my trip to Columbus, Ohio, where I had planned to buy a new car. Dennis Mitsubishi is now kowtowing to the good folks over at the Council on American Islamic Relations, no doubt not realizing the record and lingering questions about that organization. An update to this story: "Car Dealer Drops 'Jihad' Radio Ad: Dealership Draws Fire For Ad Declaring Jihad," from NBC4i.com:

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A car dealership's tongue-in-cheek radio advertisement declaring "a jihad on the automotive market," will not be aired, according to a press release issued on Monday from the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Several stations rejected the spot from Dennis Mitsubishi, which boasts that sales representatives wearing "burqas" -- head-to-toe traditional dress for Islamic women -- will sell vehicles that can "comfortably seat 12 jihadists in the back."

An official with Dennis Mitsubishi told CAIR-Ohio that the dealership has issued an apology for any misunderstanding caused by "an attempt at humor that fell short."

In a statement, Dennis Mitsubishi owner Keith Dennis said his company ultimately decided not to air the spots.

"The public reaction to this story has been significant," Dennis said in the statement. "A large number of people have contacted us. Lots of them have seen the humor we were trying to convey, but far too many were clearly bothered by it. This was simply an attempt at humor that fell short.

"I wish to offer my sincere apology to anyone who was offended. We do not wish to alienate anyone in our community -- all of whom are potential customers."

While Dennis on Saturday defended the ad as a harmless attempt to bring levity to a serious situation, the Columbus chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations decried it as disrespectful.

"We appreciate the dealership's constructive reaction to feedback about the proposed advertisements," said Adnan Mirza, director of CAIR-Ohio's Columbus office. "We accept the apology from Mr. Dennis and hope that it and the decision not to air the spots will bring this incident to a close."

I have offered this dealer a discount on my new 1 quart size BaconBlaster Concentrate along with a Super Soaker which he can give away as a promotion. I am in need of marketing ideas. Please advise at http://www.baconblaster.com
Thanks

CAIR and its sinister looking watchdog win again.
Why can't this enemy lobbying agent be shutdown already?

Posted by: ISLAMSFORLOSERS [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 5:47 PM

Violence and threats of violence work every time. Islam has shown it's willing to do anything to get what it wants and nobody has the guts to oppose it. Pitiful really.

Posted by: Beagle [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 5:56 PM

Actually this car dealer didn't exactly lose. He got a lot of free advertising with this. I think he'll be ok. On the other hand, I would have liked to see the muslims with their panties in a BIG wad.

Posted by: freewoman [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 5:57 PM

I won't totally fault them - there ain't much they can do if most stations refuse to run them.

Posted by: Infidel Pride [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 5:58 PM

I suspected this might happen after reading that CAIR had 'offered' sensitivity training to the dealership.

"Jihad" Commercial Upsets US Muslims
http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2006-09/25/03.shtml
"Mirza said CAIR would likely contact the dealer to "offer some kind of cultural or sensitivity awareness training.""

I would like to have seen the facial expressions of the channel 4 reporters covering this story. Were they sympathetic to the dealership? Were they neutral? Or, as is so typical, did they side with the sensitivities of the Muslim community?

Posted by: PRCS [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 6:00 PM

CAIR does not mind folks being called "Pigs and Apes". So I would have all the sales people at Dennis Mitsubishi dress up in Pig costumes and Ape costumes. Have Koran quotes re Pigs and Apes hanging from big signs all over the lot. Have a pig out front waving at passing traffic...."Pigs and Apes Day"....

Posted by: Frank [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 6:04 PM

Perhaps the real reason for the apology was not in the interest of insensitivity, but more likely, they didn't want their business firebombed and their employees shot in the back.

I'm sure CAIR mentioned they wouldn't encourage such action, but if such action DID occur, well, they wouldn't exactly condemn it either.

Great picture of hooper, it would make an excellent laxative commercial. It could be what's really wrong with him.

Posted by: Ronin [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 6:11 PM

I've already written the dealership and commended their effort to air the commercial. Let's show the guy some support everyone.

Let's also hope that he sells a lot of cars to folks who agree with him regarding islam.

I want to pass along this information because I think everyone on this board should hear it.

I was really disappointed when I heard this last night. You MUST give it a listen.

After thinking about this for a bit, remember how after 9/11, Bush and everyone else told us, to go back to our ways, and don't give into fear. Keep shopping, going places etc. Doesn't free speech go along with this? Why should we curtail our free speech because it might make some muslims mad? This is OUR country. This IS our right. Why should we fear CAIR? Should we not go back to using our talents whether for advertising or for whatever we choose? We are allowed to use our brains. We are allowed to use our voices.

Posted by: freewoman [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 6:24 PM

This is really disappointing that Dennis caved in to CAIR, although my friends and family living there have yet to see or hear about the commercial. My mother was going car shopping this weekend and I told her to go there just because of their sense of humor with the jihadi commercial.

And yes, Hooper does look like he needs a laxative. I'm sure he's backed up defending the wrongful actions of Muslims.

Posted by: Bonniea [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 6:37 PM

Fear...giving in....not standing up to Islam.

The Pope caved in, the car dealer caved in.
Opposite ends of the spectrum. And I was really looking forward to going to Dennis Mitsubishi Friday night. I have no problem standing up to Islam. There just aren't many venues here in Central Ohio to do that. Yet. I guess I'll have to wait until the jihadists are running in our streets. It won't be long. An invitation has all but been offered. Sensitivity training??? I didn't think CAIR had those words in its vocabulary. CAIR has become a master at using PC against us. Muslims, go back to the middle east and take your 'religion' with you.

What the hell has our leaders been doing? Not one leader in Washington is standing up for our freedom of expression. Damn! Someone in Washington has got to stop this intimidation non-sense.

Posted by: ssa [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 7:09 PM

I think that "Hooper" or "hoober" translates from Arabic into English thus: "Talking ass of Satan"...

Posted by: jsla [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 7:14 PM

First the Pope backtracks and now this. You know, there has not been a single case of anybody successfully standing up to Islam in the west in the past 10 years.

In every single confrontation where muslims have complained, they have got their way.

If there is an exception to this rule, let me know.

In any case, my point is that nobody is willing to stand up to them - and certainly not in business. Not a single one.

Cowardice reigns supreme. As the saying goes, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing."

Evil, by definition, is aggressive and inflexible. Good, by definition, tends to be passive and flexible. Like the Pope.

It is like steel striking plastic. Most decent people are plastic. Most bad people are steel. Rarely do you find good people made from such metal. Patton was one of them. Churchill another. But those were different times. Today, evil still has its leaders as always, but the forces of good are leaderless. Decent people do not rally, do not chant slogans, do not punch the air with their fists. Decent people have jobs to go to.

In today's sensitive world, men of steel are filtered out of the culling process for high office, whether political or business. They are viewed derisively as dangerous, brash, uncouth, insensitive. Good people don't feel comfortable with such candidates. So we expell them from the system.

The downside is that evil does not do the same. In evil spheres, the hardest, most brutal man gets to the top, simply by virtue of killing his competition. That is why Hitler and Stalin and Pol Pot were bosses. Natural selection works asymetrically well for evil in this battle between good and evil. Good men are not produced in such cauldrons. 'Tis a shame. Their popularity, not their strength or deciviseness, is what carries them through. John Gotti, Gambino crime boss, once boasted on surveillance tape, that he was boss for three reasons: He was "smarter" than the others, more "vicious" than the others, and "more willing to kill" than the others. He was right. That is how evil works. The strong, decisive men get to the top. That is also why they get things done. In the process they become a force multiplier for evil.

This is why evil forces in the world, like islam, or organized crime, tend to do a lot of damage even though they are never in the majority. Their energetic, concerted machinations act as a force multiplier. They get their way. Terrorism by definition, specifically the threat of violence, is an example of a force multiplier. Evil is dominant in the world, not by numerical supremacy, but my using its decisiveness as a force multiplier. Perhaps 100,000 people, demonstrating and chanting at various locations across the globe, over the past week, got the leader of a billion Catholics to pull up his robe and tiptoe out the building. That is a force multiplication of 10,000 to 1. Look what 19 men did on 9/11. With $2 box cutters.

There is no such dynamic with the forces of good, if there is such a thing. One could argue that bad people fight for bad, but good people just go about their business. There is a dearth of decisive forceful men for good. Today, decent people have no tolerance for any man with similar Machivillian characteristics. So the end result is that it is not an even battle.

And there is also a dearth of the rank and file to follow. The Pope got no support whatsoever, not even from his own church. Good people would rather not fight. That is the problem. They would rather acquiesce.

Evil has the tough bastards plugging away like mad, whether it be bin Laden in a cave, or Hooper in an office, while the forces of good have craven politicians and craven businessmen ever ready to strike a deal to avoid hostilities.

The days of the General LeMays, the Pattons, the Churchills, the Trumans, are gone. Those were men who, while fighting for the forces of good, where nonetheless willing to do bad things - bad things to human beings on an industrial scale. For them, the ends did justify the means. We have to come to relearn that basic truth. World War II made a lot of sparks because it was was steel striking steel.

Today, their steel strikes our plastic.

Find out, if you can, who contributes to CAIR, and what goods they sell, what restaurants they own, what other services they may offer. Make sure you stop buying those goods, stop patronizing those restaurants, stop hiring or giving your custom to those who hire, those who support CAIR and similar groups, those who support those who do not wish you well.

Well - what I did was find the web site for Dennis Mitsubishi and I submitted a comment letting them know that they just waived their right to free speech and that every time someone caves to CAIR or any other Muslim support group it puts us all at risk.

If what Dennis Mitsubishi did irritates you then do as I did. Let them know how offended you are that they waived their right to free speech and you resent the long term implications that their action could have on you and your family.

Be nice but be firm.

POI,

The Goobs,
I maintain that President is not a Christian. I think that is is pretending to be one to get the votes of the conservative religious bloc. I base my belief on the fact that President went and worshipped in a Shinto Shrine in Japan several years ago. Japanese and Korean Christians refused to do the worship ceremony that President Bush performed during Japan's military expansion in the first half of the 1900s and were executed for it.

You can google for "Bush Shinto Worship" to find more.

That being said, it's obvious (at least to me) why President Bush thinks that YHWH and allah are the same deity; he wants to avoid offending the Muslims and be politically correct.

Posted by: non-redneck [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 25, 2006 9:05 PM

I personally do not think it appropriate for someone or business to poke that kind of fun. Sure, America has free speech, and I get some of these things on the other end too, and I can certainly peacefully ignore it. However, I still think that one should not unecessarily do that sort of thing.

What Robert has done with his speaking and books, etc, is great. And he has shown himself very well with great civility and respect. And I hope everyone resisting this jihad ought to do the same.

What has emerged from the Pope saga is the great difference in the way the Pope spoke and carried himself, vs those calling for his death. It is clear who won hands-down (morally) in this saga.

August22: great post; sadly, you hit the nail on the head. Parallel's David Selbourne's recent article on ten reasons we will loose to Islam, if we keep on the same track we are on.

You named some great leaders from WWII that were the kind we need now - I would add Chesty Puller, Mathew Ridgeway, Anthony "Nuts" McCauliffe; Monty for the Brits, and on the German side, Erwin Rommel, and the one-eyed Israeli general Moshe Dayan. Many others of course. Can these types be bred in the age of PC? We need a way to find them and prop them up to positions of high responsibility. There is not much time. Our PC beltway government is leading the USA to ruin.

I spent some time in Columbus recently, lovely town, though they are a bit too crazy about their "Buckeyes". Sorry to see that this car dealership caved in, I didn't see many Moslems around in Columbus so I don't know why he felt threatened.

Only saw one "Wuslim" there, loitering around in the Greyhound terminal looking ugly and angry. Reminded me of one observant writer here who described them as "guys who couldn't get a date so they became Muslims".

August22, great post - thanks.

Here's some "sensetivity" training:
1. Make a fist, with either hand, or both simultaneously.
2. Extend the finger next to your index finger.
3. Rotate arm so that the extended middle finger has the nail facing away from you.
4. Shout, "Hey Islam!"
5. Begin to mimic a metronome with your fist and extended middle finger.
6. Repeat as needed.

Funny, anyone hear from Anthony Romero from the ACLU, to protect First Amendment RIGHTS? ...hmm I wonder when "Hate Speech" legislation will be introduced into the Congress...Canada...UK...Italy...France...Hmmm.

Maybe Dennis Mitsubishi will be fire bombed anyway. They've 'asked for it'. I hope they have insurance. You see, once you start it, be prepared to take it all the way. You can't assume you're safe anymore once you pick the free world side, but if you stand for nothing you can't stand against anything.

Make a choice. Decide carefully. Never give up.

The days of the General LeMays, the Pattons, the Churchills, the Trumans, are gone.

I don't think so. Back in the Days of Churchill it took a decade for the body politic to recognize the man. Patton was obscure until he distinguished himself in battle, but it took a war for the conditions to be right for him. Truman was a fortunate accident. The right man at the right time. I think he's one of the best we've had. He set the conditions for this huge run of pax Americana we've had since 1945. That's one hell of a run.

But in all - think about it. We have other people who will excel in similar conditions. The past doesn't have a monopoly on great men and outstanding leaders. We're just not in the proper historical place right now. we don't really want to be there, but the True Believers are going to force the world into a situation like 1939 once again. It won't be the same thing exactly but 'total victory' is needed now as it was in the past. Containment and bankrupcy won't work - the Islam is other worldly so it isn't rational and materially based as the socialist/commie system was. Containment is important as it was, military battles will be important as they were, but we have to address, target and destroy the Islamic belief system to have total victory here. We aren't anywhere near the mindset and conciousness we need, but every day we get close.

When the time is right, the Churchills, the Pattons and the Pope Benedicts will rise to the occassion along with the rest of us.

What is it going to take to reach that point? If you ask me, another Hiroshima, Chernobyl or WWI mustard gas attack. Or something new: a biological attack. They are irrational enough to set something loose on the world and not see that it will be uncontrollable and will eventually claim members of the ummah at a greater rate than the free world. But it all goes back to Allah. It is all the will of allah.... and until we destroy allah and discredit Mohammed they will continue to try and attack us.

Plague, the world has changed to the point where even if such men exist, the mentality to promote their existence does not.

Case in point: When Japan was thrown back from the pacific rim, and their military was reduced to defense of their own island, their threat to the world was over. Yet, America had no compunction about firebombing their civilians just for good measure. Indeed, America determined that occupation, and nothing short of occupation, would suffice. When the prospect of a million US casualties was realized, the president decided to achieve occupation by nuclear fiat.

Today, that would never happen. If faced with a million casualties, the US would never attempt to occupy anything, and would certainly not use nuclear weapons just to achieve that economically. That is why we do not attack Iran, and even if we did, we would never occupy it. We may defeat our enemies with missiles, but we would never firebomb the civilian population just for good measure, nor nuke them to soften them up for occupation. That's too bad. That is why the islamic jihad does not fear the US. They know the great satan will only target the finger that does the poking, not the person who owns that finger. In all the wars of past ages, with the exception of Viet Nam, nations fought with little or no regard for humanity. They gave no quarter. The people of the enemy were the enemy. There was none of this, let's-only-kill-the-guys-actually-holding-the-guns mentality. They killed those guys, and all the other people, and if that meant his wife and kids, so be it.

That kind of strong willed mentality just does not exist today. The fortitude for that does not exist at any political level. Men who may exhibit those leadership characteristics, or espouse those simple ideals could never be successful in climbing the military or political ladder. They would be weeded out.

Yes, the west can resort to its warrior roots, if faced with extinction. But my point was that during WW II, America was not under attack, not a single bomb ever exploded on continental US soil, and yet the US was still able to produce a mentality in its leaders that called for the complete destruction and subjugation of the enemy.

Today, we have been mercilessly attack, right in New York, and yet no one has called for the destruction of the enemy.

So yes, the times have changed, the men have changed. The leaders have changed. Are there any Pattons in the US army today, above the rank of captain? Is there anyone on the political scene to rival Truman? John Let's-Not-Torture-Terrorists McCain? Hilary I-Tried-a-Burqa Clinton? Perhaps Condi Why-Can't-We-All-Get-Along Rice?.

There's Tom Tancredo, but he has as much chance of making it to the Whitehouse as I do. That's the problem.

Posted by: August22 [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 26, 2006 6:44 PM

august22, excellent commentary. I, like you, fear that with the more capitualtion I see on the part of the West, the more emboldened the enemy becomes. The murderous Islamic adherents cannot be defeated, they can only be annihilated. Every last one of them.

We fear for the children of these animals, as we watched the extreme restraint of the Israelis in their recent skirmish with hizbollah. And yet these people are raising their children to hate and kill my children. Well, I for one, am ready to kill every last one of their children before one more of ours is taken from us by them.

Our leaders are anything but, and they refuse to believe the words of our enemies even as they state boldly exactly what their aims are - complete domination and then elimination of the rest of us.

The time is approaching where it will come down to defending ourselves in the streets and killing our enemies with our bare hands. I fully expect to see this in my lifetime. Everyone should be training for this day, I only wish I had started sooner.

When the day comes, we must be quick, ruthless, and deadly. No hesitation. We win, or we die, there will be no middle ground.

My god what would life be like if I had to carry a list of all the "victims" groups in society and everytime I want to speak out I had to refer to this list so I would not offend anyone. Let me tell you about CAIR. I have met and spoken with CAIR executives. In my opinion they are the Three Stooges on steroids. The all walk around in dark suits and act so savy and erudite. They couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag. Every sentence they speak has the word "Palestine" in it. I spoke with a member of CAIR last year and he told me that Israel should be relocated in South America or some other continent and the U.N. had no right to create the state of Israel where it did. CAIR speaks of sensitivity to others but I have heard terrible remarks made by CAIR members about the Jews. CAIR spins diversity and inter-faith when the cameras are on but if your driving with them on the back roads you will hear a different story.
