Belgian Police Hold Iranian Who Claimed Bomb Plot

Was there really a plot, or is this an attempt to tie up investigators in a wild goose chase? Or perhaps there is something else going on. From Reuters, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian police are holding an Iranian who claimed to be involved in a plot to bomb a passenger plane in Belgium but have found no evidence to corroborate his story, the federal prosecutor's office said on Thursday....

Pellens said the man alleged he had been involved in a plot to bomb a flight that evening from Charleroi to Dublin after he was denied boarding because his visa had expired.

``I must stress no explosives were found,'' she said, adding that police had so far found no element to substantiate the existence of a plot....

The man, aged about 40, describes himself as a businessman. He was charged on September 28 with participating in terrorist activities and attempting to blow up an airplane.

The suspect told police he was approached by a man who had asked him to carry out an attack. Police are searching for the alleged mastermind.

How about cutting back on Iranians coming into the West? Oops- I guess that's profiling. So sorry.

I don't get that either.. aren't we de Facto at war with Iran? Do we not assume they are preparing attacks and sabotage behind our lines right now?! Part of sanctions ought to be travel restrictions. Travel to the "good countries" is a PRIVILEGE, folks! Y'all need to behave accordingly.

Forget what the PC crowd has told ya.
Two more years till Giuliani Time!

Too bad I don't see anyone at all on the horizon for any country in Europe. Poland still seems best to me.. Those brothers with the hard-to-pronounce name are holding the line! Good for them! Don't let the EU browbeat you! You may well be the hope for all of Europe at this time.

"alleged mastermind"

Am I the only one is sick and tired of the media describing every terrorist who can pull the pin out of a grenade, a "Mastermind" ?

And if two grenades go off at around the same time then it's deemed to reflect a 'high degree of coordination'.

And if someone then points a camcorder in the direction of the gangleader taking responsibility for the grenade attacks then the video is said to exhibit a 'high level of sophistication not yet seen before'.

what a bunch of crap!
