I think he inherits that Jewish surname from his
(paternal, obviously) grandfather and that does
not make him Jewish, according to Jewish law. If
you wish to determine Jewishness according to
Rabbi Hitler, then I think 1/16 or 1/32 is
enough to do the trick.

Lindh, who in a sane world would have been hung
for treason years ago, is from a lapsed Catholic

What does Adam Gadahn believe that other Believers, that ordinary Muslims, do not believe? What passages in Qur'an, and what stories in the Hadith, does he take as his guide, that hundreds of millions of other Muslims do not? List those passages and stories here, please.

And if he is guilty of treason, is it only because he chooses not to hide those beliefs, but to utter them in a distant land, and with his speech videotaped, on the same tape with Ayman al-Zawihiri? Is that what makes him guilty of committing treason while others, already here, or still being let in to this country, hold identical views but do not utter them on a tape then distributed by Al-Qaeda?

Yeah, I saw a news update on the subject right before switching over to watch the playoff game between my team, the Oakland As, and the Detroit Tigers. My husband was (lucky guy) at the game watching live.

I hoped that the crash wasn't an act of terrorism. It seemed unlikely--light plane, fancy but not famous Upper East Side condo. Not impossible, though--anyone remember the crash of a light plane Into a well-known local downtown building in St. Petersburg, Florida, shortly after 9/11?

Anyway, here is why I included the very OT reference to the baseball game--turns out the plane in NYC was piloted by Pitcher Cory Lidle, now with the NY Yankees (formerly starting pitcher with the As).

He was apparently quite an accomplished student pilot, who was flying with his instructor. While it is not entirely clear yet what happened, I think it is completely safe to say that this was *an accident*. The only lucky thing is that no one was home in the apartments at the time of the crash.

Very sad.

This is an extremely critical issue to review as many of those in this country DO utter these views AND on tape. Actually, you don't need the tape. "[I]n order to win a conviction, the Constitution requires testimony from 'two witnesses to the same overt act,' or a confession."

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty "said he believes that Gadahn has been involved in issuing propaganda but not in carrying out any terrorist attacks."

If the treason charge is in fact "based primarily on the statements Gadahn has made in his video presentations", then we need a whole lot more indictments.

I can't wait to see the NDT print what a "chilling effect" this will have on "free speech".

OT, but I gotta say it. There is a tenuous Islamic connection to the accident - the craft he was piloting is manufactured by Cirrus Design Corp., which is owned by Arcapita. They are the same investment firm who owns Caribou Coffee, and has a Shari'a advisory board.

Here is Oz we have replaced treason with "Religious and Racial Hate Laws".

And here is the fine print: These laws only apply to Christians (and right wing pollies in smaller parties) who critque Islam.

I wish we still had treason laws (that are enforced). I'm sure when the RofP is in majority here they will re-introduce it though (and do away with the "hate" laws).

The indictment for treason is based upon the utterances against the state. In this case the state is the USA. As an American, this man is acting against his own country to the point that he is inciting others to do acts of terrorism, and he has declared war against the USA. Yes, from that point of view he can be charged with treason because it is a crime against the state.

People are charged with treason when they steal and sell documents to enemy nations. One has to wonder why they would sell their nation's secrets to the enemy. Well Perlman is acting in the same way by giving his assistance to the scum in Al Qaeda, and making overt threats against the USA.

I hope that he is hunted down and brought to justice. I just wish that there was a death penalty for this scum for what he has done against his own country.

One of the posters speaking to Maher's liberal bent said: " You can lead a liberal to Truth, But you can't make him think".
