Former Janjaweed militiaman describes depth of Sudan gov't involvement

"The Janjaweed don’t make decisions. The orders always come from the government." From AFP: "Sudan training, arming and supporting Janjaweed militia"

LONDON - The Sudanese government is supporting the feared Janjaweed militia, which the United States accuses of genocide against non-Arab ethnic groups in Darfur, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
Citing an interview with a man identified only as ‘Ali’, a former member of the militia who admitted to killing innocent villagers in Darfur, the BBC said that Sudanese soldiers trained Janjaweed militiamen, and that the country’s air force bombed a village before the militia went in to kill villagers.
‘Ali’ served in the militia for two years, and is currently seeking asylum in Britain. The BBC consulted other Darfuri exiles in Britain and presented the interview to a psychologist who studied his interview, all of whom believed him.
‘The people who trained us came from the north, from the government. They gave us orders, and they say that after we are trained, they will give us guns and ammunition. We will be split into two groups -- one on horses, one on camels,’ the man told the broadcaster’s evening current affairs programme.
Asked how he knew the men training him were from the government, ‘Ali’ said: ‘They were wearing the uniforms of the military.’
When asked to name the members of the government who were ordering his forces, the man said that one ‘very well known and regular visitor’ was Sudan’s interior minister -- Abdul Rahim Hussein.
‘I tell you one fact. The Janjaweed don’t make decisions. The orders always come from the government,’ the man added.
‘Ali’ said he was involved in more than 50 attacks on villages, and recalls a specific attack on the village of Janga: ‘The (Sudanese government’s) aircraft went ahead of the janjaweed. We saw the smoke, we saw the fire, then we went in.’
The man also admitted that others in his unit raped women in villages that were attacked: ‘Yes, there are many rapes. But they don’t do it in front of others. They take the victim away and rape her.’

Of course they do. Without four witnesses, the victim has no standing under Sharia law.

Presented with the interview, Britain’s International Development Secretary Hilary Benn, who had himself just returned from Sudan, told the BBC: ‘It’s clearly very serious evidence and what I would urge is ... that that information is passed to the International Criminal Court investigators’.
Sudan on Monday announced a plan to disarm the militia, on the same day a human rights report charged that the huge death toll in the region could have been avoided if the world had learned the lessons of Rwanda.

I really hope the Ethiopians get ready for a major defense of their homeland. Those maniacal beasts from Somalia will be upon them in due time and will behave the same as these "weeds". Rather than waste resources on Palestinian terrorists the West should at least arm these people to mount a defense against this nightmare.

And where is the OAU regarding Sudan anyway? They should kick out any African country that supports these "weeds" and then uproot them before the whole continent returns to those thrilling days of yesteryear when slavery was more the norm than the exception.

Presented with the interview, Britain’s International Development Secretary Hilary Benn, who had himself just returned from Sudan, told the BBC: ‘It’s clearly very serious evidence and what I would urge is ...

drum roll please...
could it be immediate UN military action to stop the genocide...
could it be urging China et al to live up to the expectations and obligations placed on it as a permanent member of the Security Council...
could it be unilateral British intervention... (stifled guffaws since Benn Sr helped dismantle the Empire, and Benn Jr helped dismantle the armed services)
could it merely be some plain old official recognition of the what the problem really is...

here comes the answer:
that that information is passed to the International Criminal Court investigators’.

The word that comes to mind is Decisive. I hope George Clooney is satisfied, or who knows what Pop Concert they'll organise next.

How dare you waste time on trivial side issues like this supposed genocide in Sudan while Israel's apartheid-wall disrupts the daily routine of dozens of Palestinian families. Have you no sense of proportion?

Governments of the West, I beg you, PLEASE turn us loose. Take the leash off the generous kind hearted people of the West so that we may once again bring about 1000 yrs of peace. You have kept the top on the hornets nest long enough. Please don't let us just wait for them to come for us.

"First why must these animals rape anything that has two legs and is breathing?"

That should read "has legs". I am pretty sure there is no "breathing" requirement.

TheBushmen need to talk to the Sudanese Gov about this. When they get done talking, they can talk some more. Talk all night, talk all day, the problem does not go away. How many people die during and in between these talks? How long have we been hearing about Darfur? How many people did you say have been murdered, while the talkers talked? While we are at it, lets talk to Beasty Boy in Iran, Kim and a few others. Maybe we can 'reason' with Mahdi when he comes, or talk him back into the well. Talk is cheap but direct action is more direct...

A problem of equal magnitude regarding Sudan: China is purchasing large amounts of petroleum from Sudan with full knowledge of the situation there. And what exactly does Beijing and the world at large think Sudan is going to DO with that petroleum money??? If they answer that they don't care, that would still not be a straight answer.

Thanks to the Communist, anti-democratic regime in Beijing, the Sudanese government (and military)is now more equipped than ever to exterminate the Sudanese non-Muslim peoples on their own soil. The violence is likely to escalate in the near future.

And by the way, the Muslims conquered Sudan by dint of jihad centuries ago--Sudan was never of course a part of the Middle East. The fate that has befallen the people of Sudan could happen anywhere that Muslims settle. Yes, America, the handwriting is on the wall. Read it (John Kerry, that includes YOU).

I wonder who is going to clean up this mess? It certainly won't be the Chinese that's for sure. Oh, and it's not going to be the PU (oops, EU) either. But that will depend on how many Sudanese (if any) come out of this alive.

Shame on China for this. If this is China's idea of world leadership, they need to go back to the rice paddies.
