"The Middle East is the center of graft and corruption in the universe." Financial Jihad Update from Rowan Scarborough in the Washington Times, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
The U.S. military is not only trying to stop terrorists and arms from leaking into Iraq from Syria and Iran but also another just as dangerous commodity -- cash. It's the lifeblood of the enemy -- whether they be al Qaeda terrorists, death squads or Sunnis trying to evict American forces and bring back dictator Saddam Hussein -- and U.S. raiders have seized millions of dollars in cash during the conflict.
Military officials point to Syria and its secretive banking system as the main source of Sunni walking-around money, while Iran's Revolutionary Guard funnels money to Shi'ite militias, such as cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army.
The enemy's money began flowing into Iraq with the start of the insurgency in the summer of 2003, and the shipments are still coming in.
"There are billions coming in," said Daniel Gallington, a former aide to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. "The Middle East is the center of graft and corruption in the universe. It really always has been. The fight in Iraq is about who controls what area is really all about who controls the money."
Read it all.

Start by cutting off the flow of aid to the palestinians!

Well this should strike fear into the hearts of the Muslims. They will no doubt run in panic from our fierce armies of metrosexual accountants.
Might I make a simplistic observation? Money is of no use to dead Jihadis.

How about shutting down all branches of the Bank of Jihad (i.e. Muslim "charities") wherever they're found?

Good point. Stopping the terrorist cells does not put an end to Muslim Insurgency. To stop the real flow we must shut down the charities and schools. Then and only then we will begin to show signs of stopping this ideaology.

Go U.S. Government :)!!!
They use the idea of "follow the money and find the truth" for a good and noble purpose.
This is very good. I hope they can keep the fifth columnists and quislings off their backs while they are trying to protect us and plugging the holes. Hopefully they will have some agents specifically tasked to find and stop the jizya.
The crime unit doing this needs a flag/patch/logo similar to the don't tread on me flag (Gadsden flag) except it shows a rattler partway consuming a rat instead.

I have always thought that we need to choke all of the money off. Islam will only work with an outside revenue source. Choke off that source and it will die. Economically speaking it is socialistic. Therefore it is not capitalistic and cannot generate internal wealth. Thus it will run out of money on its own.
God willing, of course.

The U.S gov't must go after the terrorist backing Saudis. They get all of the oil money then spend it on terrorism in schools and mosques. We even let them put their students in U.S colleges. This has to end sometime. Mark Steyn has opened my eyes to this growing problem.

I am curious as to what percentage of the smuggled cash is in US dollars. All over the world, there are countries whose citizens prefer our currency to that issued by their own government.
In the former Soviet Union (and in current day Russia) $US is worth more than rubles.
No doubt the same holds true in countries where we are decried as "The Great Satan." They hate us, but they love our currency.

O.T.
Regarding the quislings in our own government that would hamper the stamping out of the jizya, here's another sellout brought to you by CFIUS.

As the US tries to cut off terrorist cash flow, the dictators of the un try to silence the Internet. Our invention, we thought it up, we also invented the PC but I guess they overlook that too. They are attempting to seize control and tell us how to run it and what information will be allowed. The Internet has them running scared, they cannot survive the light.

U.S. tries to cut off terrorists' cash flow
Tries ? What an apposite choice of words - a conversational term used to describe a weak effort.
If the U.S. were dead serious about drying up the terrorists
"war wealth" they'd have enacted an Energy Bill designed
to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
When each of us pulls up to the corner station and pays $2.40 a gallon or so for gas, the reality is that a portion of that money is then turned over to foreign governments that “backdoor” it over to Islamist extremists, who use that money to perpetuate terrorism.
Of the 20 million barrels of oil Americans consume each day, almost 12 million barrels of it is imported. That percentage, now nearly 60 percent, is growing. It was only about 33 percent years ago at the time of the Arab oil embargo. Our addiction has nearly doubled since then.
What I'd like to see is a government report on the flow of money paid by Americans at the gas pump to foreign governments that ends up in the hands of jihadis that are targeting Americans with acts of terror?
Well it's not going to happen - that would expose the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as something other than a "staunch ally" and we couldn't have that. Could we?

"The Middle East is the center of graft and corruption in the universe. It really always has been."
So then Islam produces corruption and horrible behaviour. Why on earth do Muslims think anyone would ever wish to give up their morals and their decent law-abiding lifestyle to adopt an evil, corrupt animalistic lifestyle?
Makes no sense to me.

Another critical place to look is the hawala system in use in the Middle East and other Islamic areas. Monies traveling through this system are usually unchecked and often quite likely tainted.
There's another avenue of Islamic terrorist dollars that is presently wide open and not helping us win the war against Islamic militants--illicit drug smuggling. I suspect that the War on Drugs has made and still is making the terrorists richer than the CIA would let us believe and has almost certainly outlived its usefulness (if it ever had any--I don't know whose, maybe the Southern Baptists?). Maybe the time has come to decriminalize dope. I doubt the US government is keeping it out of the hands of the junkie sector of the population anyway. Prohibition failed, and so too, it seems, has the southern Baptists' War on Drugs.

The problem is that the US only TRIES.
To achieve anything one has to do more than trying.
