An update on this story from Alexis Debat at ABC's Blotter (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
Ayman al Zawahiri was the target of a Predator missile attack this morning on a religious school in Pakistan, according to Pakistani intelligence sources.ABC News has learned the raid was launched after U.S. intelligence received tips and examined Predator reconnaissance indicating that al Qaeda's No. 2 man may have been staying at the school, which is located in the Bajaur region near the village that is thought to be al Qaeda's winter headquarters.
Despite earlier reports that the missiles had been launched by Pakistani military helicopters, Pakistani intelligence sources now tell ABC News that the missiles were fired from a U.S. Predator drone plane.
Between two and five senior al Qaeda militants were killed in the attack, including the mastermind of the airliners plot in the U.K., according to Pakistani intelligence sources.
No word yet on whether or not Zawahiri was killed in the raid, but one Pakistani intelligence source did express doubt that Zawahiri would have been staying in a madrassa, which is an obvious target for strikes against militants. That source, however, did express confidence that Pakistani intelligence is closing in on Zawahiri's location.

I hope we got him, but it's funny how these guys always get a warning before we can hit them.

Well, at least some scumbags were wiped out in this hit. It's about time we get some good news in this struggle. It's also nice to see a madrassa being targeted-wipe out as many of these "holy" terrors as possible right at the source. The world needs less mule-ahs spreading their satanic drivel throughout the world.

You can say that again. Mighty slippery.
The report was not that he was ever there, just his number two. Missed him too.
This was soooo close to the election, no doubt this would have been a nice October suprise. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
On the other hand it does get Z moving. That's when he can get got.

That was just ONE madrassah.
There are thousands of them where millions of potential Zawahiris are being trained.
What exactly is being achieved by pinpricking the monster?

"...did express confidence that Pakistani intelligence is closing in on Zawahiri's location..."
Isn't it interesting how they always seem to get close but never close the deal?
ISI is letting him and UBL get away. Gosh, darn we almost had him this time...aw shucks...
ISI is almost as credible as the Iraqi police who fire over the heads of their buddies in the militias instead of at their heads. It's one big umma and we aren't invited!
The joke is on us if we take them at their word!
Taqiyaa masters...ALL OF THEM!!!

I hate to be so cynical but it is important that we kill frick and frack to prove to the Muslims that they are not divinely protected.
Oh yeah, and for the 3,000 people they killed on 9/11.
I prefer a slow death but a predator drone strike will do or the bayonet of NATO soldiers' rifle or an artillery shell or....

Yes, I just saw this item on CNN. Surprise, surprise--they quoted neighbors as saying that it was just a simple religious school, a place full of innocent teachers and children, targeted for no reason.

"Alexis Debat..."
-- from the article above
Alexis Debat is "an ABC news consultant." This is the same Alexis Debat who in an appearance at a recent New York University conference demonstrated that his grasp of Islam is insufficient. What exactly he is an "ABC news consultant" about? And who recommended him to ABC? Noah Feldman?

Super, super super. I like the tactic. These madrassas are nothing more than factories of hate. If they didn't get Chief Blowhard #2, it is worth it to have done away with a couple of dozen would be murderers and may have saved hundreds or even thousands of innocent lives.
I also like the fact that this is INSIDE so-called "sovereign" Pakistan. Let that message sink in on the other side as well.

We killed a few, now rearm that bird. There are more, many, many more. They respect strength, give it to them. I admit asking the pakistanis to find him and not sell us out is so far past stupid it can not be messaged. It is ok, we killed a bunch of future jihadis. They were not in a madrassa to learn science, music and western civilization.

Well, that explains why Mushy Raff didn't make the hit himself if the Crappy News Network story is indeed true. Now the evil Americans can take the blame and we will get some "school rage"
out of this.

sorry for the OT:
I just got home after meeting with a friend from Spain. He says a French woman was burned a live on a bus that was set ablaze by moslem yootes. He says he saw this on TV Espaņa, which they get on cable.
Can anyone confirm. NOTHING on CNN nor on TV news here in NYC. I'll check Germany next. But not holding my breath.
the jihad is NOT being televised.

A guy on CNN complained there were 30 children killed. Good riddance.. 30 less suicide bombers.
Check out Youtube for the movie "teaching hatred". They show araFAT spewing jehad jehad jehad and little kids all excited about killing Jews.. they don't learn anything and then we have to feed them too!

Funny hw the dhimmi media first mentions a "young woman" in a Paris suburb receiving eye damage from a police flare gun BEFORE they get into the real deal. The attackers are described as "jeunes voyous" which means young rascals.
OUTRAGEOUS!!! The media knows no shame!

YES...!! Good also this may scuttle the signing of their little "peace agreement". I think some smart Pentagon person fed the Paks some erroneous information designed to piss off the locals. Our side needs to get the locals in a clash with Mushy Raff where he can't play both ends against the middle anymore. Once he NEEDS us to survive he'll be "hooked", so to speak. Meaning we can get more out of him. At the same time his position will be more precarious.. all becoming a race against time.

It's starting to get real embarassing for the Pacastani government. They don't want the U.S. gov. running raids in Pakistan teritory. First they say that they (the Pakistanies) were the ones who attacked with two helocopters. And then they have to come out and change their statement,
"Ayman al Zawahiri was the target of a Predator missile attack this morning on a religious school in Pakistan, according to Pakistani intelligence sources."
I believe this is the second time this sort of thing has happened, Pakistan claiming an attack on terror only to have to come out later and admit it was the US.
And yes I personally believe it had a LOT to do with the elections.
Just imagine:
Wow! just one week before the elections Zawahiri is dead ! Great job Bush & (R)'s ect.
Similar to, 10 days before the election Bush wants to put up a 700 mile fence (Mex).
Six years of nothing.......then....... 10 days before the vote.

Hate to tell you, but AOL news already has a story about how the U.S. is being blamed for the attack on "innocent school children."
Personal Note:
The school children were probably innocent, but that doesn't mean that Jihadists were not using the building for military operations. Part of the hard part of this war is that the Jihadists have no honor and have no problems with staging military operations amidst innocent civilians. It's not like we can bomb Jihad HQ and avoid civilian causualities, but of the course the MSM is too STUPID to realize that!

I was reading a local reporter chatting it up the local Al Qaeda representative...this is crazy! It seems the press has no trouble finding all sorts of these killers, but the military, the CIA, the special forces...no luck!
I guess I'm just a simpleton; but why don't WE (the American people, who were attacked on 9/11) organize a million man march on this dirt ball part of the world, and not come back until we have UBL etc in hell? We can easily get the people; we've got the guns; it will be a great trip. Who wants to go?

Thank you for the link.
This poor woman! I was worried that it was only a matter of time with these bus burnings before they killed someone.
My French is pretty bad (I haven't used it much in years). It seems they are describing the perpetrators as "young men with grievances". The victim was a Senegalese woman, just 26. Despite the frequent descriptions of France as a country so racist that no minority (read Muslim) has a chance at a decent life and so has to riot, this woman was a medical student.
So we have a future doctor brutally murdered by these vile thugs.
I hope the French authorities will finally take things seriously now, but I can't help but be pretty pessimistic.

"Between two and five senior al Qaeda militants were killed in the attack, including the mastermind of the airliners plot in the U.K., according to Pakistani intelligence sources."
Hard to know what's true or not in the mix of reports but if just a few hardcore jihadists were waxed then it's better than nothing. I do doubt that 30 children were killed because that's always the first claim made by the enemy after ANY strike.
at October 31, 2006 12:44 AM
"Mars Attacks" is on TBS right now.
Reminds me of our situation now. "Ack ack don't run, we come in peace."

There's a good possibility that this was a Predator strike but not from the U.S. military. The CIA also has armed Predators and it is quite possible that they fly them out of Pakistan (don't forget that Mohammed Atef was killed by a CIA Predator). If Zawahiri was at the target location I'm sure his ISI pals gave him a heads-up.

'Pakistani intelligence is closing in on Zawahiri's location.'
--Expect to reach there on 6.6.6000. But Stone Age will arrive sooner!
--Then again, Zawahiri is Second-in-Command of Pakistani intelligence. That leaves Musharraf clueless.
--Pakistani intelligence! What's that?

Timing is all. Prince Charles cancels visit to the Peshawar flea market to barter for tribal rocket launchers to take back home. Wonder if they can strike the same site twice, as the Al Qaida leadership in the area swarms over for the burials. The noises emanating from the Pakistani madrassas sound like they are ready to overthrow Musharraf at last. Unless the military got there first.

Why has the West been so slow to come forth with financial and military aid to Islam's newest nation, the Islamic Emirate of Northern Waziristan?
It's unfair to expect the Saudis or Persians to set forth the funds. Zawahiri himself forced to hide in mosques, grade schools, and hospitals.
The dudes down at the ISI offices must really be pissed about this affront.

Good thing the madrassa was not situated in a grave yard, or the Predator would never have fired it's missle.

Re: Zawahiri Was Target in U.S. Attack on Religious School in Pakistan
Matthew 26:52: "Put back your sword again," said Jesus, "for all who draw the sword shall perish by the sword".-Jesus
It appears to be simple truth. Jesus knew that violence is part of human nature, and had no problem with the state, which at its core, to a greater or lesser degree, is based on force ("Render unto Cesar that which is Cesar's, and unto God that which is God's"). However, he clearly warned against the use of force against unbelievers.
Ultimately the mind of people like Zawahiri is a den of violence based on alleged dictation from God (word for word) in the Koran that mandates force against unbelievers. Ultimately the sword will be Zawahiri's doom and will doom the Islamic belief-system.
