It says here that the call for Sharia is an "unexpected initiative," but it doesn't seem to have been at all unexpected among Jihad Watch readers here, and Charles Johnson called it also. "Thai PM apologizes for ex-govt's tactics," by Rungrawee C. Pinyorat for Associated Press, with thanks to LGF:
PATTANI, Thailand - Thailand's interim prime minister publicly apologized Thursday for the former government's hard-line policies against an Islamic insurgency, promising an investigation into allegations of human rights abuses by the administration deposed in a recent coup.In an unexpected initiative, Chulanont Surayud also said he would urge the limited use of Islamic law in Thailand's Muslim-majority south to settle some disputes, especially over inheritance and family affairs, he said.
Surayud was accompanied by army chief Gen. Sondhi Boonyaratkalin, a practicing Muslim who led the Sept. 19 coup. Previous governments have shown little acceptance of Muslim culture.

We witness the usurpation of another culture by the enemy (islam and the muslims that spread it).
Sad. So sad.

My impression when I read this story this morning... the guy is Muslim himself and is so appeasing the Muslims there.
Another major impression I had was that the story I read (maybe this one, too) played out the old "poor me, I am a Muslim" bit again.
I am sick of these lying devils. Everywhere they go they preach this whole "we are poor, prosecuted Muslim" bit. They have gotten this from our leftists, Western leftists, especially Communists, whom have so inspired these guys. (Yet, how hypocritical they are in pretending to be against them! The Soviet Union funded them all along and Communists continue to work with them and for them, as well as every other manner of leftist.)
COnsider Afghanistan. The Soviet Union fought for ten years to instill atheistic totalitarianism there... and they killed a some odd 2 million Afghan people. Did the Afghan-Arabs care? No, they were just waiting to kill Americans all along. In fact, these guys killed the main Afghan leader right around the time they did 9/11. And, they have been known to frequently kill Afghan Muslims... during that war and since then.
Here is how Muslims do it: They play up the whole "the West is evil" bit. They already believe that, but they hate the West because of Christianity firstly, Judaism, secondly. Who is the friend of the Islamist? The hedonist, the athiest, the godless. The very people who give Muslims most of their cause against us are the very people giving Muslims justifications to kill us in another way -- they give them money, they give them guns, they give them methods of "revolution", they tell them how to play the "poor old me" story. They tell them how to blame their own, awful, terribly God forsaken circumstances on the West.
Truth be told... Muslims conquered, by force, much of the known world. Their imperialism dwarfs our dalliance with imperialism. They still have slaves to this very day. They don't even have missionaries. It is all compulsion.
You go to India... you don't find a lot of Indian-white mixes. Because the British didn't mass rape Indians when they were there. You do, however, find a ton of Indian-Arab mixes because the Arabs did do that. They also did that in Spain, Africa, all through the Middle East... everywhere they go.
There has never been a religion more uncivil, more barbaric, more hostile, more chaotic, more evil... never. Then these people cry, "oppression".
Oppression is not when you jail murderers. Oppression is when you jail innocents. Leftists and Muslims need to get this. They are the bad guys. They deserve to die.

Well, add Thailand's interim prime minister to the list of sub-humans in my crosshairs!
I hope Wall*Mart has a sale on ammo soon cause the list is growing out of hand.

I do worry that if the king starts to come to the conclusion that he has been given bad advice and seeks to put Boonyaratglin out of the picture and reverse course, some terrible "illness" will befall him and he will die. That's how it will go down.

"Surayud was accompanied by army chief Gen. Sondhi Boonyaratkalin, a practicing Muslim who led the Sept. 19 coup. Previous governments have shown little acceptance of Muslim culture."
I see. So, according to this correspondent from AP, if a 'host' nation refuses to change its laws to accommodate the requirements of Islam, it is guilty of showing "little acceptance of Muslim culture"?
Sorry: I didn't know that 'Muslim culture' does in fact mean 'special laws for Muslims'.

The Thais had better move quickly before they are all living under the cold hand of sharia. On the bright side, Naseem will now have another option for a sea-side vacation where she can wet her burka on a beach uncluttered with bikini-clad wild slutty womens. Will the last kaffir tourist please turn out the lights and lock the door behind them.

A Buddhist nation has never withstood islam.
Oh Thailand, oh Siam, listen to me.
The mohammedans will try to crush
your love and compassion,
in a slow but timely fashion,
any wisdom left will be ground down into ashes,
and blown away by the wailing winds of jihad.
You must act now.
Your hour is here and now.
Bring forth your Boddhisatvas,
your ancestors' spirits,
your army of the Clear Mind,
and fight for the right of all sentient beings
to follow the way, the Dharma,
living the unity of the Golden Rule.
Please don't play the fool, Thailand.
Only because of the British,
can Buddhists go to their holy sites today,
only because of the Hindus can Buddhists
visit the sacred sites of Gautama,
for the mohammedans had spit on them,
ravaged them, built mosques no one used
over them, and showed no respect
for the true religion of peace.
The mohammedans believe the Buddhists
are lower than human,
that they are idol worshipers
and must convert to islam or die.
This, Thailand Buddhists, is your fate,
to convert, die, or walk through
the gateless gate and fight
through the dark night for the Dharma.

Centre adds fuel to fatwa fire, defends Shariat courts
Satya Prakash
New Delhi, November 2, 2006
Amidst raging debate over ‘fatwas’ issued by Shariat courts, the Centre has defended the Muslims’ right to have such courts saying it was part of their fundamental right to freedom of religion guaranteed under the Constitution.
“The functioning of Dar-ul-Qaza would be protected under the fundamental rights enshrined in Article 25 and 26(b) of the Constitution,” the Centre said in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court in response to a PIL seeking ban on Shariat courts.
Article 25 guarantees freedom of conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religion while under Article 26(b) every religious denomination enjoys freedom to manage its own affairs in matters of religion.
The petition filed by one Vishwa Lohan Madan last year sought direction to the Centre and other authorities to ban ‘Shariat Courts’ for running a “parallel judicial system” in the country.
But the Centre said, “Freedom guaranteed by Article 26 to every religious denomination or every section thereof to establish and maintain institutions for religious and charitable purposes and to manage its own affairs in the matters of religion would include the freedom to establish Darul-Qaza/Nizam-ul-Qaza to settle disputes between two persons professing Islam, according to Sharia.”
The Government emphasized that “it is not a parallel judicial system” as the Qazis or Darul-Qaza/Nizam-e-Qaza did not prevent Muslims to report matters to the Judicial Machinery set up under the law of the land.
“Those who do not resort to Darul-Qaza/Nizam-e-Qaza are at liberty and fully entitled to resort to the court of law.
There is no question of compelling anyone not to report matters to the judicial machinery,” the affidavit filed by the Ministry of Law and Justice said. It also sought to dispel the impression that it created confusion in the minds of “uneducated multitude of Indian Muslim citizenry”.
On the controversial issue of ‘fatwa’ issued by the ‘Shariat Courts’, the Centre said ‘fatwa’ meant “opinion” and even the seeker of opinion was not bound to follow it.
It submitted that “the Mufti has no authority or powers to impose his opinion and enforce his ‘fatwa’ on anyone either by imposing any penalty as a fine or send him to jail.”
Howver, it termed as “few bad examples” the ‘fatwas’ issued in cases relating to Imraana, Jyotsna Ara and Asoobi.
Justifying their role of ‘Shariat Courts’ in the Muslim society, the Centre said they “are conciliatory and/or mediatory for a, which strive to settle disputes outside the courts expeditiously in an amicable and inexpensive manner and have no real power or authority to enforce its orders.”
Terming the system of Islamic courts as a form of Alternative Disputes Redressal Forum, the Government said, “it mainly performs conciliatory role without any enforcement powers.”
The Centre said that in a number of cases Courts of Law have accepted the decision of Darul-Qaza and made them rule of the Court and passed decrees accordingly.
“It is also in vogue in many non-Islamic countries, for example, in England,, which has a population of about 15 lakh Muslims, unofficial Sharia Panchayat are functioning.”

"A Buddhist nation has never withstood islam."
..Or easily falls prey to Islam. Note that all countries and regions in South Asia that are now Muslim were Buddhist before:
Bengal, Gandhara (now N Pakistan), Afghanistan, Swat valley (N. Pakistan), The Maldive Islands, Kashmir...
But there is a good side to it. The Saudis will be deprived of a place to sneak to for their dirty holidays, when they are tired of so much piety.

Allah should really be proud. His minions have the longest running tyranny, have the biggest cult of personality, have destroyed numerous civilizations and have devised by far and away the most ruthless form of imperialism ever unleashed, swallowing nation after nation. As a cult Islam is by far the biggest ever, topping all other cults combined since the beginning of mankind. And now Islam is working on one thing that will top them all-when his minions get enough nuclear weapons Allah will take his greatest pride when they finally exterminate the entire human race.

No surprise here. I suspect if Sharia law is introduced in the south, it will be used as a stepping stone to bring sharia to the rest of Thailand. Maybe the PM will also allow Muslims to pratice sharia law in all of Thailand to encourage immigration from the south.
Part of me wonders if the PM will just sell the southern portion of Thailand to Malaysia. A bit of a stretch, maybe. But if Muslims will riot over cartoons, who knows what they are capable of.

I saw, many years ago, a documentary filmed by some Germans in Tibet shortly before or during the war which, to my surprise, showed a procession of Tibetans wearing what looked like 13th century saracen armour and carrying scimitars. The commentay said that these had been taken from the bodies of the soldiers of an Islamic army that had tried to invade Tibet in the middle ages but perished in a blizzard. They had an annual procession, bearing the dead men's arms, to commemorate their deliverance. Has anyone else seen this film - it would be interestng to find out any background.

OK! For those of us who were in denial when Gen. Sondhi executed a coup to take command of Thailand (capitalizing on the general public enmity for ousted PM Thaksin) ... I will shamessly hawk my blog Global Vent.
There I have two articles analyzing the changes in Thailand and I hope those of you who don't believe that this is the official beginning of a gradual takeover of Thailand by Muslims will read the articles there. I'm therefore referring my own link rather than tediously reposting the material found there.
Remember: "denial" is not a river in Egypt.

As a man who finds the virgin birth and the resurrection challenge enough, I have never spent much time studying other faiths. Islam poses a direct challenge to my freedom, so they have my attention. What aspect of Buddhism prevents them from practicing self-defense? In Christianity, we are taught to turn the other cheek, but I have never been able to do this on a systematic basis. Most Christians I know are willing to fight back. I assumed that Buddhists do as well. If not, how have they avoided getting a major ass-kicking prior to today's date?

As someone has said in the earlier comments, Allah should really be proud. Not only because of his Muslim minions, but more because of the useful idiots who are accommodating towards Islam.
The Hindus are (sigh..) the most useful idiots and the most beloved of Allah, as they have helped make India the largest Muslim populated country on earth.
Wake up Thailand, before it is too late ! Read about the Hindu / Indian follies and save yourself.
