Omar Shahin is one of the imams removed from a flight in Minneapolis. He was involved with Kind Hearts, which has been closed down for its connections to Hamas. He also acknowledged a connection to Osama bin Laden in the 1990s in a September 28, 2001 story in the Arizona Republic (thanks to Austin): "Arizona Was Home to bin Laden 'Sleeper Cell,'" by Dennis Wagner and Tom Zoellner. From that story:
Arizona appears to have been the home of a "sleeper cell" of Osama bin Laden's worldwide terrorist organization, with a select group of operatives living quietly in bland apartment complexes and obtaining flight training in preparation for the Sept. 11 attacks.The organization's known history in the state goes back nine years and scholars say the activities of at least three part-time Arizona residents fits the pattern of the al-Qaeda terrorist group.
"We can only speculate at this point, but I'm convinced the FBI is operating under the assumption that Arizona was host to an al-Qaeda cell," said Jack Williams, a professor of law at Georgia State University who has studied the group's financing methods.

Omar Shahin of the Tucson Islamic Center said members of the Tucson mosque may have helped bin Laden in the early 1990s, when he was fighting against the Russians. But that was during the Cold War when U.S. intelligence agencies were encouraging support for bin Laden.
"They (the CIA) called him a 'freedom fighter,'" Sahin said. "Then they tell us he is involved in terrorist acts, and they stopped supporting him, and we stopped."
Shahin and Saadeddin expressed doubt that Muslims were responsible for the Sept. 11 attack. They also said they don't trust much of what the FBI has divulged - including the hijackers' identities.

Shahin of the Tucson Islamic Center said more than 1,200 Muslims died in the World Trade Center catastrophe, and no genuine member of Islam would do such a thing. Nor, he added, would Muslims have gone to strip joints prior to the attack, as several of the terrorists in Florida reportedly did. As for Al-Qaeda nests in America, Shahin said, "All of these, they make it up."

The misunderstanders, (or is the Tucson Islamic Center one of the understanders of Islam -- it's hard to keep track these days...) sure exaggerate alot.
This goes along with their consistent exaggerations of the population of Muslims in America -- and "the world's fastest growing religion". Numbers coming from CAIR spokesment for Muslims in America have ranged from 5 million at the bottom to 11 million at the top before they decided to pull it back and stick with 6 to 7 million these days. That number seems to be right on the edge of credibility, and their method of pushing everything to the bring of credibility remains.
If these are the species of spokesmen the Muslim community consistently throws up -- then NO MUSLIM should be trusted in our dominions. They ALL seem to be engaged in various degrees of exaggeration, prevarication, obfuscation, and downright lies. All of it designed to harm, degrade, and subvert our system and parasitically impose their own.
Muslims must be purged from the Western domains if we are to survive their latest onslaught against the World. And we are the last bastion holding their floodwaters back -- but not for long... Our current stance regarding Muslims in the West will not remain static.

Valley Muslim leaders met Tuesday with FBI officials for a bridge-building meeting, but members of the Middle Eastern community remain frustrated over what they perceive as ethnic and religious profiling by counter-intelligence agents.
"There's a lack of trust," said Omar Shahin, imam at the Islamic Community Center of the East Valley. "We have to start building the trust - building the bridges.
"We would like to know what the FBI wants, and we will give it to them . . . We live in this country, and we are concerned about the security of this country."
Shahin and other Muslims who attended the closed-door meeting at Arizona State University's downtown Phoenix campus said they were encouraged by FBI overtures, but not entirely satisfied. Since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, they said, they have been upset about interrogation methods employed by some federal agents, and about suspicious delays with immigration paperwork for Muslims.
"We came to this country like others, to enjoy freedom," said Shahin. "We are not feeling secure anymore. So we shared our concerns with the FBI."
The meeting was convened just weeks after FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., confirmed the launch of a new round of intelligence-gathering interviews - primarily directed at Middle Easterners.

I think what we have here is a clear case of "controlled discrimination", knowwhatimean? See, these imams, they STAGED this whole US Airways airport thing, getting themselves "kicked off" and "questioned" by other Muslims posing as "nervous passengers", "wary airline employees", and "paranoid security personnel"....all to make the USA look bad and fuel "Americanophobia" within the ummah. I doubt Americans were behind all this 6-imams incident, 'cause as we all know, no genuine member of the PC-USA would do such a thing. Don't they know America is the land of peace? This 6-imams incident, it's all a Muslim conspiracy, dontyougetit, to get US Muslims angry at America, gain sympathy from their Islamic brethren abroad, fluff up the CAIR bears, and use it all as a pretext to demand more sharia rights as an "oppressed minority" and eventually establish Islam as the official-religion-of-the-USA. As I've been calling for since 9/11, all mosques in the U.S. must be closed. Let the ACLU go hang! Until the "madrassas of the U.S."--the mosques--are closed and all illegal aliens are deported or self-deport, we are living at our own peril. Freedom of religion? Not if that religion's bible and "preachers" indoctrinate their parrishes with anti-Western, anti-American vitrole and threats of harm. We are sowing the seeds of our own demise if we continue to allow mosques in the U.S.
