Direct from the jihadists themselves: The truce is only a pause in which to regroup and re-arm. Meanwhile, Olmert hopes this ceasefire is the beginning of a diplomatic breakthrough. "Terrorists: Ceasefire means chance to reload," by Aaron Klein for WorldNetDaily:
The ceasefire to which Israel and major Palestinian factions agreed yesterday will be used by Palestinian groups to smuggle weapons into Gaza, reinforce and train "fighter units," and produce rockets for a future confrontation with the Jewish state, the leaders of the four most significant Palestinian terror groups in Gaza told WND in a series of exclusive interviews.
"The ceasefire offers a period of calm for our fighters to recover and prepare for our final goal of evacuating Palestine," said Abu Abir, spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, a Hamas-allied terror organization in the Gaza Strip responsible for many of the recent rocket attacks against Israeli communities.
"We will keep fighting (Israel), but for the moment we will postpone certain parts of the military struggle," Abu Abir said.
Abu Abir was one of several terror leaders speaking to WND after a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants took effect yesterday morning.
Israel removed its ground forces from Gaza and agreed to not launch anti-terror operations in the Gaza Strip in exchange for Palestinian promises to halt attacks against Israel, including the cessation of rocket fire against Jewish communities near Gaza.
[...]
The recent increase in rocket bombardments prompted calls by the general public here and by many in the Israeli defense establishment for a large-scale Israeli offensive in Gaza.
Israel Defense Forces officials reportedly presented multiple military plans to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to dismantle some of the terror infrastructure in Gaza, minimize rocket attacks and attempt to halt rampant weapons smuggling from neighboring Egypt into Gaza.
IDF military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin and Yuval Diskin, director of Israel's Shin Bet Security Services, both warned in recent speeches to the Knesset if Israel doesn't launch a major offensive in Gaza, Palestinian groups there will soon have military capabilities similar to those of the Hezbollah guerilla organization in Lebanon.
But Olmert yesterday said he had faith the cease-fire would work. He said it could lead to a comprehensive peace deal with the Palestinians.
"All of these things ultimately could lead to one thing – the opening of serious, real, open and direct negotiations between us so that we can move forward towards a comprehensive agreement between us and the Palestinians," Olmert told reporters yesterday, speaking about the ceasefire.
Olmert said he would be willing to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for peace talks in the near future.
[...]
Olmert said Israel would display "patience and restraint" in the face of Palestinian violations of the cease-fire.
[...]
Terror leaders: We need period of calm to recuperate
Meanwhile, terror leaders from every major Palestinian faction in Gaza, speaking to WND, said their groups would for now abide by the cease-fire, which they stated would be used to re-supply their arsenals and prepare for a conflict with Israel.
The Committees' Abu Abir said, "We will reinforce very quickly and rush what we are doing to prepare (for attacks against Israel) in Gaza and in the West Bank."
Abu Abdullah, a senior leader of Hamas' so-called "military wing," told WND Hamas agreed to the cease fire "because we need a period of calm to recuperate. This lull in fighting will not bring us to speak about peace."
Abu Abdullah is considered one of the most important operational members of Hamas' Izzedine al-Qassam Martyrs Brigades, Hamas' declared military wing.
He pointed to Hamas' doctrine, which calls for the destruction of Israel and which refuses to recognize the Jewish state.
"The political leadership (of Hamas) will never compromise on these values," the terror leader said.
Abu Abdullah said Hamas has its own political reasons to respect the truce.
"We wish to show Islam as a ruling party is capable of leading the Palestinian people. Since Hamas was elected, we have been through only chaotic periods. We want a period of calm to prove we are not only a revolutionary movement but to show the Palestinian people our rule is without the corruption of (the rival) Fatah (party)."
But Abu Abdullah said the cease-fire would ultimately end in violence.
They all do.
"All the Palestinian people and all the Muslims will launch a direct confrontation with Israel. This may come soon or it may take some time," Abu Abdullah said.
Abu Luay, a leader of Islamic Jihad in Gaza, told WND Israel's call for a cease-fire "proves our rocket attacks work. The Zionists know there is now remedy for our rockets."
The Islamic Jihad leader said Palestinian rocket attacks against Israel would resume "at a time of our choosing."
Abu Ahmed, the leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip, told WND his terror group would respect the ceasefire.
The Brigades, responsible for scores of suicide bombings, shootings and rocket attacks, is the declared military wing of Abbas' Fatah party.
"We will respect the cease-fire as the president (Abbas) has ordered us to do," said Abu Ahmed. "We keep our right to respond to any Israeli aggression. Our group does not give up any of its ideals, which is a withdrawal of the Israelis."

Famous last words. When are the elections in Israel? my bet is the Palis will try to keep a lid on things till then so they can try to get Olmert re-elected.
Either way, be it Netanyahu or be it Olmert, you will see a barrage of attacks after the Israeli elections.
Let's pray it willl be Benyamin Netanyahu!!

I have heard it from several Israelis now:
Ceasefire means: We cease - they fire.
sad but true.

After watching the documentary " Relentless " about the betrayals of the Oslo Peace Accord, i believe that Palestinians cannot be trusted. After all it is written in Islam that it is ok to enter into any agreement or Treaty with full intention of decievibg and breaking the agreement AS LOND AS IT BENEFITS ISLAM.
and we see it time and time again.
How do you trust a people who's own Religion teaches them to lie and cheat?

Israel knows and the statement was just to pour hot coal on their head.
It's going to come to a final if the palestinians don't act accordingly and that area will be a stronghold to take on Syria and Iran from there.

Dear Jihad watch
it would seem to me that Israel is finally and irrevokably lost and being destroyed
and will not be able to overcome the naiveté and complete dhimmi /jimmy carter attitude of the pathetic government,
I am so sad to see that they just do not get it...land for peace has not worked ever with islamofascists- there never is any peace with islamists
the people of Israel has been betrayed
Zionism is lost
and the state of Israel is being single handedly destroyed
and all because of the pathetic lack of a sense of duty by govt to protect its people, and protect the state of Israel for future generations
if they evicted the Arabs from Israel and sent them back where they came from- Egypt Syria and Jordan then erected massive concrete electric walls and policed them they would have no terrorists enter and destroy within the state.
Trouble is USA is interfering and is allowing this to happen
if the same thing were to happen in USA you bet the government would never tolerate any single terrorist attack or act
I weep for Israel, for the loss of hope for its future under incredibly dumb stupid naive pathetic imbeciles who just have no understanding.
Israelis better wake up before they get their throats cut, or bombed, their government passivity and appeasement has not learned a single thing from history. Bible prophecies are coming true every day as far as Israel.
Their unbelievable dhimmi government is the worst in 60 yrs to affect Israel and destroy its own future and make it uneconomically and Geo politically inviable
the destruction of Israel is now certainty by the gov ts own naiveté
Israel government have lost their vision of Zionism
they have lost their courage
they have lost their sense of duty to the future Israel generations....it is inevitable now
and handing land for peace has never worked
nor is ever there a treaty pal-lies kept
Alas poor Israel fare thee well.....
The government needn't worry about pal-lies baby- IT has become the enemy clearly
Gimme the job please Israelis
A woman needs to be in the job to sort this mess out and teach the govt what they need to do
let me sort this place out
in a year I would have Israel protected, safe, evict all the Arab Muslims,
revoke any Arab citizenship of Israel
make Israeli citizenship conditional upon Jewish ancestry and conversions
and immediate order all Arabs out of Israel within 30 days like they did to the Jews in middle east.
Give me the job and i guarentee i will fix all israels problems and if I dont let them kill me by firing squad, bet ohmert will never agree to such conditions based on whether he does the job eh
the best man for that job is a woman- ME!!!!!
By all that is heavenly i would fix the entire situationw ithin 12 months.I would be ruthless though and ensure that the israelis knew i meant business-never ever negotiate with terrorists....have they not read the koran, do they not get it yet????
I volunteer to meet with Ohmert and his crew and sort them out and teach them how to save their country.I would do it for free!

Olmert yesterday said he had faith the cease-fire would work. He said it could lead to a comprehensive peace deal with the Palestiniansand he is
olmert me to read the Koran and the history of Islam jihad, he would realize that the only time Muslims call a truce is when they do not have the strength overrun their opponent end of the time the force of Islam to rearm , Requip and gain strength for the next attacks. In my opinion the best thing that Israel could do is tell the Palestinians the next rocket attack by Hezbollah or Hamas from Palestinian territory will result in Israel on his own rocketswith atomic warheads in the PLO Hamas and Hezbollah want a war you them one they cannot win. The fact is the so-called Palestinian people were never there historically, and in fact our political invention of the surrounding Arab states after 1947 when when their leaders told the Arabs living in Jewish lands that they should run before the Jews kill them. And when they did run and became refugees their Arab brothers kept them in refugee camps for political reasons the real problem in the Middle East is the Arabs themselves.
at November 29, 2006 3:21 AM
Tell me, Mr. Olmert, which part of the sentence
"All the Palestinian people and all the Muslims will launch a direct confrontation with Israel. This may come soon or it may take some time"
you do not exactly understand?
I despair seeing Israel in his hands.

Olmert is a typical liberal, instead of using facts and logic, he is wishing things that should go his way of thinking. things need to get worse before Benjamin Netanyu come back as leader of Israel. does any one know of upcoming strong leader in Israel?

Re: Palestinian jihadists: Gaza ceasefire means time to reload
The Nut-In-Iran and Palestinian jihadists like to pretend that the issue is the Holocaust and the presence of those Jewish people in Israel who fled Hitler. But the truth is that if every Jew in Israel were only those who fled Muslim oppression in the Mideast (those who fled Iraq, the Gulf States, etc.) the Jewish state would still have to be annihilated because of Muslim dogmas re Dar-al-Islam. The Jewish people must be put in their place in Dar-al-Islam.
All other "issues" are not really the issues. The issue is the belief-system.
at November 29, 2006 7:13 AM
To Reverend_Kelly_Kuffir:
I share your frustration; however, know that Olmert's administration is a lame duck and won't survive much longer. His failure to effectively prosecute the Israeli/Lebanese war was the final failure in a long list of appeasement and concessions which included territorial withdrawals and forced evictions of Jewish settlers.
Take solace knowing the Ben Netanyahu is going to be the next PM of Israel and his right wing party will not tolerate any Islamic aggression from Hamas, Hezbollah or whichever group threatens God's chosen people.

americaningermany-
What you are saying is just common sense. I've found that very often in life if we want things to change we have to change. These believers have to change their attitude and until then they must be given the cold shoulder. Who needs their supremacist-belief-system crap?

Over two months of reading stuff on this site and still I can't come up with a more miserable and worthless lot than the palestinians. People blast Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan and the rest of those cesspoolian places but they are gold compared to this rabble. They're even the dregs by Islamania's standards. Israel must be nuts to do anything with them except pound them into the dust.

To renounce agreements with Jews is one of Allahs requirements for muslims.
Expect them to do it. Expect them to try and drive out Israel, no matter who says what.
The fact that the Hezbollah, Palestinian terrorists welcome a cease fire, to rest and restock for future conflict, proves that they were tired from the last one. Israel should not have stopped. The enemy was wearing out. If Israel is going to continue existing, it has to WIN decisively, not partially.
Isreal launched this attack to retrieve two kidnapped IDF soldiers... so far Olmert seems to have forgotten that. The soldiers have not been returned yet. Olmert needs to get some resolve and a spine...
at November 29, 2006 10:09 AM
One has a few questions for Olmert:
What do you know about Islamic teachings?
How seriously do you think Muslims take those teachings?
Do you have any reason to think that the way Muslims are suffused with the teachings of Islam, a system of Total Regulation and Complete Explanation of the Universe, is different from the way that either Judaism or Christianity impinges on, or organizes the life of, Jews and Christians?
What do you know of Muslim teachings regarding non-Muslims?
Have you ever read the Qur'an and at least a few hundred of the hadith, possibly directed by a scholar of Islam?
Are you acquainted with the life of Muhammad, as written and read by Muslims, and do you realize the role that Muhammad plays as the Perfect Man, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil?
Do you know about the decaptitation of the prisoners of the Banu Qurayza? The attack on the Khaybar Oasis? The murders of Asma bint Marwan and Abu Akaf for mocking Muhammad? The marriage to little Aisha?
Are you familiar with the agreement that Muhammad made with the Meccans in 628 A.D. when, feeling not yet strong enough to attack them directly, he made an agreement for a truce, a period of ten years, and then eighteeen months later, broke that truce on a pretext and, now with stronger forces, attacked the Meccans?
Are you aware that in the entire history of Islam, this behavior by Muhammad is hailed as being exceptionally clever, and has been taken as a model for all agreeements and treaties made between Muslims and non-Muslims?
Are you aware, for example, that all of the Muslim commentators on the law of war and peace in Islam are in universal agreement that no permanent peace treaty can ever be made between Muslims and Infidels, only temporary agreements made necessary when the Muslim side is too weak?
Have you read, for example, or has anyone brought to your busy attention, Majid Khadduri's War and Peace in Islam, with its discussion of the Treaty of Al-Hudaibiyya?
These questions, and your answers to them, will be published in the five leading newspapers of Israel.
Please, Mr. Prime Minister, think carefully before answering.
And come to think of it, why shouldn't this little quiz, which so clearly will elicit for us information about the comprehension of Infidel leaders everywhere, be given, in one form or another, all over the world, beginning with those in Washington, London, Paris, Berlin, and Madrid?
Why shouldn't we all demand that those who presume to protect and instruct us (they go together: protection must be accompanied by instruction on what one is being protected against, and how, and why) take this test?
This is not a multiple-choice examination. It will not be graded by some computer, measuring the little lines who shaded in with a No. 2 pencil.
No, this test requires the ability to put a few sentences together. It does not supply the pre-fabricated answers.
And it will not be graded by a whirring machine in Princeton, New Jersey.
It will be graded, instead, by all of us. And we are in no mood, the publics of the Western world, to indulge or overlook in any way. Too much depends on the understanding of these matters.
Olmert, I'm afraid, has already failed with the surpassing idiocy of his every statement and move. Bush, in his messianic missing-the-point fervor -- he had an idea and now the idea has him -- to create a Light Unto the Musiim Nations instead of exploiting the situation to weaken the Camp of Islam -- has not done much better. Almost all of the known leaders of the Western world have similarly failed.
But there are others, waiting in the wings. They should all be asked to take the test above -- all those hoping to be the next Republican or Democratic candidate. We want to know, more than anything else, what they understand about Islam. We want to know if they are fooled, or foolable, or unwilling to state things, even if not with the full freedom that one has at this website, but slightly more obliquely (that may at first be necessary, and if undertaken only for tactical reasons, may in some cases be understood and forgiven).
But they need to take the test.
We need to see the results before we support them or give them money or cast our votes for them.

Why the free nations of the world insist on being self-destructive and plain stupid baffles me.
I'm not wired in nor do I have access to the halls of power - but I, like the rest of you out there, can easily find quotes from jihadists telling us exactly what they intend to do and why our current approach is futile.
Why can't those in power understand the simple facts and why don't they simply listen to & understand what comes out of the mouths of Hamas, Hizbullah, Iranian mullahs & politicians and so on EVERY DAY.
It's not even a question of 'subtleties'.
Why Condolezza Chamberlain? Why Jim (f da Jooz) Baker? Why all you resurrected Cold-Warriors with your thousand points of light leftovers.
Realpolitik is EXACTLY the WRONG THING we need. We don't need stability for the MO-foes... we need destruction and rebuilding a la Japan.
Realpolitik is all about postponing things and fighting to a stalemate while selling out the things that could make the world better ( albeit after much painful tumult )
We don't need a f@#$% detente with the World Wide Jihad. Detente allows the mo-foes to reload and lie in wait for the next opportunity.
Detente was the wrong thing to do in 1972, it was wrong in 1983 and it's wrong in 2006.
President Bush - what the hell is wrong with you? You give up because of the mealy mouthed press and left leaning elected officials give you a hard time? You disappoint many of us sir and you abandon people who need you to take the fight where it should be taken. You set us up for a catastrophe by vacillating and fighting to a stalement out of some misguided sense of 'disapproval'. By doing this we will pay a price greater than 3,000 on 9/11 and 3,000 since 9/11. We will pay in blood on the order of two or three magnitudes higher because of this vacillation.

Listening to the apemen of hamas and izlamic jizhad with their saber-rattling threats is like reminds me of the schoolyard brat who gets his ass kicked. Then when the asskicker has walked off far enough to be out of hearing range, the beaten brat starts trash talking:
"Yeah, c'mon! You wanna piece of me? Bring it on!"
etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

I really enjoy these stories on Gaza. That way I can see the wonderful progress the palestinians are making in creating their beautiful homeland of Palestine. It's looking real good so far. At the speedy pace they're progressing they may achieve the level of civilization seen in Neanderthal times in possibly two or three decades.
Assuming they don't provoke the evil Zionists to the point of fury first.

From above: President Bush - what the hell is wrong with you?
Bush is a lame duck who owes nothing to the American people. Now that he cant be re-elected, his true colors are showing. As an example look at his secret, not so secret plan to merge the US, Canada and Mexico into a superstate. Did he ask the American people if that was ok with them? Nope, he proceeds to give away our country and asks permission of no one. I am not a liberal/democrat, but I think Bush should be impeached for the attempted theft of this country. He does not own it, and niether do the NWO stooges. His policies about the US borders, and his policies for dealing with terrorism are about the same...lame...
