Dallas: FBI agent describes group's jihad plot

Texas Jihad Update. "FBI agent describes group's jihad plot: Photos show a Dallas student and 2 from Houston at weapons-training camps near Willis," by Thomas Korosec in the Houston Chronicle, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:

DALLAS — An FBI agent testified in federal court Friday that at least four aspiring jihadists conducted firearms training and discussed going to war against the United States on two weekend camping trips near Willis earlier this year.

"The group had discussions about traveling to Pakistan to engage (the) United States and coalition forces," Special Agent John McKinley, who is assigned to an international counterterrorism squad in Houston, told a federal judge.

McKinley, testifying during a detention hearing for 19-year-old Syed Maaz Shah, described how the group conducted paramilitary training, fired high-powered guns such as AR-15s, and referred to themselves as mujahedeen, or Muslims involved in a fight or struggle.

The group included two Houston-area men who were arrested and charged earlier this week with conspiracy to aid the Taliban.

During the first weekend gathering, which began Jan. 13, Shah held up his passport, which shows he has traveled to Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Great Britain and asked the group "if they wanted to see the passport of a terrorist," McKinley testified.

Shah, a sophomore electrical engineering student at the University of Texas at Dallas who lists Islam as his religion in several Web postings, lectured the group on jihad and criticized certain Islamic imams for "what he described as weak sermons on jihad," the agent said. A second weekend training session began March 10.

Constantinopolitan Irredentist must have the energy of a thousand research machines --they always seem to find the right article. Thank you JW and Constantinopolitan Irredentist (it will be ours again). //The FBI are starting to see that jihadists are "rational actors" acting out the Qurans commands and that leads them to doing a better job at catching these evildoers.

Okay, maybe it's just early in the morning and I haven't yet had a cup of coffee, but can someone explain to me what this means at the end of the article:

"A second weekend training session began March 10."

Now, does that mean that the article only covered the first training session? So, what was covered in the second training session? How to fly planes into buildings?

If a 2nd training session began, why are we not privy to its details. Or, is this just a dangling sentence stuck onto the end of the story???

Cheers,

Why are we letting these "students" still come here? What are they "studying" here that they can't learn at home? When will this nation wake up already?

Why do I even bother asking these things????

The university of Kansas was getting into some mega deal with Saudi Arabia about sending students here.(thousands of them) I bet some of them want to do some "part-time" work at Boeing.

Just food for thought.

Good point, and FWIW, a little known fact, but Saudi Arabia has been a major sustainer of Boeing..in those periods when demand and the economy had slowed and Boeing was laying off tens of thousands and ready to close it's doors, Boeing kept it afloat with orders for Airliners, just as it keeps our military industrial congressional complex afloat (and Ike originally called it the military industrial congressional complex), with orders to FMC, GM, Raytheon, McDonnell Douglas, Boeing.

So when the Saudis summoned Cheney to their magic kingdom last week to get marching orders, he had no choice but to comply (profits at Haliburton, Exxon Mobil, Haliburton at stake).

"The group had discussions about traveling to Pakistan to engage (the) United States and coalition forces,...

If they want conflict with American soldiers why go to Iraq or Afgahn? Why not just storm the gate, somewhere like the US Marines, Camp Pendelton, Calif.
There are lots of military bases in the US that these brave jihadis could invade. Just think how much money they could save on busfare...

What a bunch of lazy bums. All they want to do is blow people up. Waste of human life if I ever saw it. Probably the only way they draw attention to their miserable selves is to hurt other people.

Islam definitely brainwashes a person.

Electrical engineering student. Hmm, this seems to be the favored major for these bastards. These "students" need to be kept out of the US. Let them study in their own damn countries.

It's about time we stop this "open border" policy.
As far as i'm concerned, Pakistan is a huge part of the problem. We should not even let their planes land here, and not give any "student" visas either.

When are we going to wake up?
