Brigitte Gabriel, the courageous and insightful author of Because They Hate, is scheduled to speak at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor this evening.
However, emails have gone out to Muslim students urging "all Muslim brothers and sisters to do what they need to do to disrupt this event." One email said: "Muslims, Arabs, and their friends and allies should give Gabriel a proper welcome."
Congressman Tom Tancredo was attacked, and his speech disrupted, last week at Michigan State University Law School. And of course, there was the notorious disruption of Jim Gilchrist's talk, and the subsequent closing-off of Walid Shoebat's, at Columbia recently. It is all part of the larger pattern of trying to silence and discredit through personal attacks anyone who dares speak up too strongly against the jihad and in defense of Western civilization.
Brigitte Gabriel has asked for special help tonight. If you are in the University of Michigan area, especially if you are in law enforcement, please attend Brigitte's talk and let these thugs know that they can't get away with their strongarm tactics in America.

Yes, these are all examples of the continuing problem with the "tiny minority of extremists" in the Muslim world. Even the "enlightened" Muslims on college campuses seem to be overrun by their "extremist" elements. What are the odds?

I am a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and I am absolutely appalled and ashamed of my one time alma mater. How can a former bastion of light and learning become a haven for hateful and ignorant Islamic goons and sympathizers? The brilliant Ms. Gabriele offers the light of insightful knowledge born of painful experience and is instead confronted by the forces of darkness and utter barbarism. I am sickened by it all!! The very least I can do in meager protest is to buy her book ‘Because They Hate’ which I have just done.

Strategically, does it make good sense for them to speak in Michigan?
While I respect all of these speakers, I would suggest a different strategy and would no more advise such talks in Michigan, any more than I would advise them to go to such "hot spots" as:
-- Columbia University in NYC
-- Berkeley University in CA
-- Falls Church, VA in DC area
-- etc.
Given the millions of Americans in denial across the nation, isn't the best use of their energy to reach some of those people in less confrontational areas first, before going to such "hot spots", like Michigan, Columbia U, etc.?
There is still a very large portion of the nation that is uneducated, in denial, and totally unaware of the threats looming over USA.

I think that along with DhimmiWatch and JihadWatch we should have MultiCulturalismWatch. It is the dogmas of Multiculturalism that labels critical judgement of the supremacist dogmas of Islam as bigotry that enables this storm trooper behavior.

JihadWatch has caused me to give a lot of thought to the nature of belief-systems and to the nature of culture. I have come to the conclusion that all cultures have supremacist assumptions and that we learn from them by critically evaluating the supremacist doctrines (Islam, e.g.) of cultures. Some supremacist doctrines are valid, some are so-so, and some are deadly to critical thinking and the free mind. The "mosaic" nonsense of multiculturalism is madrassa style foot binding for the mind. The doctrine ultimately makes reason meaningless as it tells us not to make judgements re what is good or bad because all that is relative. Truth-fact is not relative.
Nazi Stormtroopers, Muslim Stormtroopers and Multiculturalism is lethal to critical thinking and an examination of the supremacist doctrines of Islamic culture (and any culture). Islam-uber-alles is very similar to Nazi supremacist beliefs. That's bad.

I wish I was closer, I would attend the speech. I'm getting on in years now, not old, just older than fighting form, but I would bust a few "burqa babes" heads if need be. I'm still in better shape than 98% of women at my age.
We cannot allow these fascists to stop freedom of speech. On The Daily Kos(sac), the interruptions and attacks on speakers that do not tow the left's line are called "protecting freedom of speech" and white is black and more Orwellian B.S. The protesters that rushed the stage when Gilchrest tried to speak thought they were great patriots. They not only rushed the stage, they were violent. It really reminded me of the "brown shirts" before WWII. And they say that about Republicans...when do Republicans act like that?

The German writer/poet Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) is rather famous for observing, already in the early to mid 19th century, the inchoate beginnings of just the sociological and philodoxical phenomenon you mention. The German-American philosopher of history Eric Voegelin (1901-1985) probed further back for the roots of the modern disease, paradoxically into the Enlightenment itself (with precursors even further in the past) (though I have been dismayed to note many Voegelinians are infected with PC themselves with regard to the problem of Islam).

Threats and intimidation from Muslim student groups (indeed much like the Hitler youth on assignment)--a theme being played out throughout campuses in the western world. The prophet Muhammad in the Hadith instructed his followers to engage in precisely this sort of activity--go and cause a ruckus, insulting and cursing people of other religions, in order to instigate conflict and generate pretexts for more conflicts.
Brigitte Gabriel, herself a survivor of an Islamic terrorist attack, has courageously faced down these types of fervent and devout Muslim megamouths in previous speaking engagements. I believe she will do so once again.
Anti-jihadist folks who are at U. of Michigan should bring their video cameras with audio and capture all the Islamo-thugs on tape, get their names if possible, get quotes from them and record everything, write it all up in the student paper, send it to media outlets that will show it. If the media outlets won't show it send them to Jihadwatch, *Islam-Watch, etc., or try to get it on YouTube.

In an academic setting, attempting to shout down an opponent must be viewed as an admission of intellecutal bankruptcy. The University should come down very hard indeed on students when this happens. One of the chief rationales for academe has traditionally been the responsibility to provide a forum where ideas can be debated. The tactics of the street have no place there. Lets see if University administrators have the stones to preserve order in their own house, or if (unfortunately much more likely) they cave in to the pressure of the jihadis.

I'm not surprised of that kind of attitude from a typical American who has never been abroad, is not interested in the goings on all over the world, and is only interested in what's happening around his/her little circle and what's on tv.
But to my depair, my children, who are young adults, who should know better, since they've seen how a muslim country treats it's christian minority, have the exact same attitude! They've seen and heard first hand the minorities who were displaced because of attacks by muslims with the acquiescence of the government. Yet, they bury their head in the sand.
Most blame should go to our education system. Since they're young they've been bombarded with these touchy feely things about everything, especially about other cultures. It's ok to criticize ourselves but not ok to do that to other cultures. It's ok to protest companies that bring in cheap goods from other countries, but at the same time they'd jump on all the sales. It's ok to protest our government for not signing on to the Kyoto treaty, yet they all want their own cars, preferably suv, of better yet a hummer. Or to have the a/c on full blast in the summer.
Our school curriculum should have a major overhaul from kindergarten on and teach facts as they are and not glossed over by political correctness.
We need to teach them that 'values' are related, amongs others, to the economic situation.
For instance, we treat our pets as part of our family. In the 3rd world countries, dogs for are kicked around, and in some instances are food.
It's not because we are better then 'they', but it is because we can afford it. That's a fact.
Our kids are not taught about the reason behind all the Islamic terrorists act these past 20 years. Just quote what's said by the terrorists themselves, like what Mr. Spencer and others have been doing. But no .............., of course it's not pc to quote things like, christians are infidels, filthy, dhimmi, etc.
With their 'soft' upbringing due to our good economy, and judeo christian principle of love, they find it hard to believe that there are intentionally 'evil' people in this world. No matter how much they've been told and have seen.
They have all the good intentions, like save the environments, but still want their creature comforts, like cold air in the summer, driving whenever one feels like it, etc.
They have such kind heart. One day a young man who had never been overseas, came with us on vacation to a 3rd world country. My sister's driver drove us around. When he found out how much (little) money he earned, he gave him (the driver) a huge tip every time he had driven us. But ......, when he's pocket money provided him was almost gone, guess where he got additional money to buy all the things he wanted? You guessed it, mom and dad!!!!

I've read Brigitte Gabriell's book. It is so true what she said about the Muslims, I can relate to that based on what has happened to the country I'm originally from.
It used to be secular, and now the islamists/jihadiss are very stong, it permeates every level of society, up to the very top. That's why the authorities are not doing much to prosecute the jihadists because they basically agree with them, it's all because of their religion, Islam.
We have also had id checks by individuals/mobs. In Indonesia it's called 'sweeping'.
Right now, depending on the 'piousness' of the neighborhood you're in, very often they don't want you to have prayer/religious meetings in your house. The more 'pious' the neighborhood, the more threatening they are when you have a prayer/religous meeting.

You are absolutely correct in your assessment. Thankfully, you are no longer where you speak of. You must factor in that many in America have seen through this bologna from the beginning. They have taken steps to inoculate their children from this virus. In many cases it is not even necessary, that is if the child is semi intelligent and capable of reason. So do not despair, we are going to get through this just like we have in the past. We have their number and it is only a matter of time before there is a major backlash. Hang tough and do what you can to fight them w/o exposing yourself until then.

Reminds me of a lecture I went to in NJ 3 yrs ago. I was sick as a dog-flu- but Natan Sharansky was speaking. I was afraid that the idiots would overwhell the sheep, so, I went. I noted how they didn't really check bags and wondered what was coming in. The brilliant Sharansky, set up the two first rows for the 'palestinians' and marxists, in front of everyone else. Just as he began, he got pied by this marxist creep, but he just shook it off, and came back and noted that it likely was not a kosher pie he'd been hit with.
He spoke softly, clearly, and brilliantly. He laid out the events and real facts of the last 50 yrs. By the time he was finished, not one, not even one, of the rats of Islam, the rats of 'palestinian' persuasion was left in the audience. They had been answered clearly, concisely and nothing of their screechings would penetrate the wall of facts and common sense that this former resident of a solitary confinement cell int he gulags of the Soviets, so, they left.
The next day- the ISM site had a lie, on it. The marxist creep who pied Sharansky said he'd been beaten by the guards, and his nose broken in overkill. I was in direct view- they handled the creep fast, deftly, with a single leg takedown and immobilazation which never touched his face, nor broke anything. he was a liar. They are liars of

I also agree that while entering the lions' den is sometimes necessary, a great deal of work needs to be done out in the wilderness. Brigitte calls a spade a spade...that's why they are desperate not to allow her to speak.
Their position comes off as so baseless, so without foundation that it cannot withstand scrutiny.
She is also the one who called political correctness our biggest problem in dealing with them...and she is right.
The fact that the islamofascist brownshirts attack her is of no surprise at all. That's not free speech as they claim...it's called stalking in most US states (a felony act of inciting, inducing and/or enacting harassment of a person or person by implementation of fear and intimidation in intentional format). It is also depriving her of her civil rights (a federal level crime here).
That aside, the vast majority of Americans here can see their actions for what they are...violent desperation of a position that is in danger of exposure of person or persons of dubious value.
Her word gets out no matter what they do...that's what gets to them...they cannot stop it here. The genie of sorts is already out of the bottle...and there isn't a damned thing they can do about it now.

I try to educate them on the truth about muslims and islam, and I think that some of it does come across, but they are so indoctrinated (not from me), but from their liberal dhimmi professors, that it makes me want to go and slap their professors faces.

When Obsession was first available on the net I downloaded it and made several copies to pass it on to people and asking them to please watch and then pass it on to their friends.
My kids refused to even look at them. One of their friends though, seem to be interested to find out more about the jihadis, so I gave her a cd. Again asking her to please pass it on.
A few weeks later, right about the time that Fox News showed Obsession on tv, she apparently saw it and asked if the cd I gave her was about the same thing. I told her it is exactly the same movie. So, because of the fox news program, she said she was going to watch the whole cd, because she only caught part of the fox news program.
Well, I do hope other tv stations will highlight and show programs about the REAL intentions of the islamists. Had it not been for fox news, this very well college educated young lady would never have the desire to see the cd I gave her. :-( Guess I am not a convincing 'sales person'. :-(
Kudos to the cable news and the media that are starting to show the true jihad/islam, hope it's only the beginning and that more Americans and people in the west would be educated about this.

I noticed that once the Fox network showed the film, everyone and their brother came out of the woodwork asking to see my copy. I have no idea who has that darn thing now! I just called the Univ. President's office, got the public safety number, called them, and a woman said that they knew about the protest and that protection would be provided.
Let's see if she's right.
I previously called Al-Awda (linked from Deb Schussel) and when I asked about the possible protest, he hung up on me, so I sent him an email. Not holding my breath.
Boy, do I wish I were closer than 2000 miles away!!

Hello all, reporting from the Ann Arbor front following Ms. Gabriel's lecture. I was prepared for the worst, but the lecture was a resounding success! The auditorium could seat ca. 300, and it was filled to the brim. I counted 3 policemen and around 3 large menacing looking bodyguards, but they were not needed. Not a burqa or hijab or bearded one in sight. Mostly young, student audience, with a sprinkling of middle-eastern looking types, but not possible to tell if they were Christian Arab or not. A noticeable Jewish contingent was present. Ms. Gabryel gave an articulate, powerful, personal lecture, which in one hour covered all the essential points that we at JW are familiar with. The word "islamofascism" was used more than once, and you could hear a pin drop. The audience listened with rapt attention. She received two standing ovations and several round of enthusiastic applause. There is hope!

BTW, there were no metal detectors or security screening of any kind. That made me a little uneasy. But there were more than enough armed policemen and bodyguards to take care of any situation that may have arisen.

I was there too and concur with your report of the event. I have to admit, I also wondered why it seemed so lax on security, but I thought, "this lady is not getting backed down--why should I?"
I was surprised to hear her on WJR, Michigan's most powerful radio staion--and sort of a flagship station for years. Below, listen to the account she gave host Frank Beckmann this morning. In the past Beckmann has been swayed to heavily by the Arab American News--apologists for islamists. Today, his audience finally heard the truth of the jihad. Hopefully, her appearance portends a growing awareness in the PC media.

I plan on sending that link to many people. Beckmann has a pretty big following because he is like a sports pal to many of us who have heard him broadcast U-M Football for years now. He is known for playing a pretty even hand--but so far, this is the first time I have ever heard him have such a powerful spokesperson against jihad on there in Brigitte. He has usually sucked up to the islamists in the past.

we had a lovely light snowfall, just enough to make it slippery on the roads,but beautiful to look at. l am sad l could not make it, had l known more in advance l would of went, l am about an hour from AnnArbor.
It is great it went off so well, and thrilled that she was able to have her talk. with more like these, you will have a much more informed youth and might sink into the older crowd.

What a brave and courageous woman Brigitte Gabrielle is! It looks like the muslim mutants heard that the word was spread and like the cowards they are they stayed away. Each and every time one of our speakers of truth are engaged we should spread the word and attend as protectors for these liberators.
Once muslims know that they will be disrupted and possibly suffer broken noses and the like you will see their protests diminished. It is a sad commentary when muslim thugs try to disrupt speakers who tout the line of reality and danger of Islam in The U.S.A.
America proves its worth yet once again by saying loud and clear, "We ain't going to take it anymore!" Let the muslims shrink into the corners of their own dispair and maybe they'll be encouraged to shake the shackles of slavery that bind them all to this brainwashed ideology.
I and my friends will round up a cadre of protectors for Brigitte should she speak in the NYC or Long Island area. If the muslims try to disrupt and hurt her we will break their heads! They will know that they are the ones in jeoapardy and that they are unwelcome here and that danger lurks for them instead. That they have no power here and that we will indeed profile them.
It is time to ban all books, and teaching of Islam culture in our schools, but a course on the horrors and cruelty by Mohammed must be taught. To each and every muslim I encounter during this Holiday season I will say "Merry Christmas" and if they object I will tell them to "fuck off!"

This page allowed us to mobilize, marshal support, and fire a warning shot across the bow of the academic bureaucrats at the sponsoring institution by informing them that whatever they did would be observed and discussed beyond their own campus. In short - message delivered, speaker protected, right to free speech enforced, and enemy denied the opportunity to exert their will.

Very heartening reports!! I confess that I was expecting much worse even with my generally positive feeling that people are coming around to recognizing the looming threat.
If Ms. Gabriel can get a reception like that in a predominently liberal/left college town like Ann Arbor, then we are making some headway.
