Pig races and terror attack count websites are expressions of frustration. The official line is that non-Muslims need not be concerned about mosques in their midst, and indeed, they must not be concerned, because such concern is a manifestation of "ignorance" and "bigotry."
But for many American citizens that just doesn't compute. They have seen terror attacks being plotted in mosques. They have seen American Muslims arrested for terrorism-related offenses. They have seen American Muslim leaders concentrate more on blocking anti-terror efforts than on aiding them.
And they know that the organizers of this Houston-area mosque, like all others in the United States, have never even been asked any questions by any official about where their money is coming from, what they will teach in this mosque, and so on -- despite clear evidence that hatred of Jews and Christians and Islamic supremacism is being taught in all too many American mosques.
The cognitive dissonance is growing. No wonder people are holding pig races.
From AP, with thanks to all who sent this in:
KATY, Texas - A plan to build a mosque in this Houston suburb has triggered a neighborhood dispute, with community members warning the place will become a terrorist hotbed and one man threatening to hold pig races on Fridays just to offend the Muslims. Many neighborhood residents claim they have nothing against Muslims and are more concerned about property values, drainage and traffic.
But one resident has set up an anti-Islamic Web site with an odometer-like counter that keeps track of terrorist attacks since Sept. 11. A committee has formed to buy another property and offer to trade it for the Muslims’ land. And next-door neighbor Craig Baker has threatened to race pigs on the edge of the property on the Muslim holy day. Muslims consider pigs unclean and do not eat pork.
“The neighbors have created havoc for us and we didn’t expect that,” said engineer Kamel Fotouh, president of the 500-member Katy Islamic Association.
Fotouh vowed to press ahead with plans for a mosque on the 11-acre site, as well as a community center that would offer after-school activities, housing for senior citizens, a fitness center and an Islamic school.
“We just bought it,” Fotouh said. “And we are going to use it. We have the right like any one of them.”
Katy, population 13,000, is a mix of middle-class bedroom-community neighborhoods and small farms on Houston’s western edge and boasts of being the hometown of Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger. It is 70 percent white and 24 percent Hispanic.
The Houston metropolitan area has about 170,000 Muslims, according to the Islamic Society of Greater Houston, and among their many mosques is one built in Houston by former NBA star Hakeem Olajuwon.
The Islamic association bought the land in Katy in September for $1.1 million. It said the overall cost of the project has not been determined.
Dispute started with cattle
The dispute began when the group asked Baker to remove his cattle from their newly bought land. Baker agreed but mistakenly thought the Muslims also wanted him off the land his family has lived on for more than 100 years. The rumor spread.
Baker, who makes marble and granite fixtures for kitchens and bathrooms and also owns livestock, said he got so mad he put up a sign announcing the pig races.
Baker’s attempt to offend missed its mark, according to Fotouh. Muslims do not hate pigs, he said; they just don’t eat them.
As for the Web site, the address is virtually identical to that of the Katy Islamic Association. The site claims the neighbors will have to hear the Muslim call to prayer from the mosque’s minaret five times a day — the Islamic group denies that — and offers an audio sample.
Besides keeping track of the running total of post-Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Web site provides home addresses of some association members and advises people who see anything suspicious to contact the FBI. Many people have sent anti-Islamic e-mails to the site.

What about this? - a new trend in the making
Muslim Cop Sues New York Over Anti-Muslim E-Mail
“Burning the hate-filled Koran should be viewed as a public service at the least.” Hundreds of such e-mails were sent to police by a former CIA agent advising the NYPD on counterterrorism issues. Now a Muslim undercover agent is filing a lawsuit.

The only reason why we have this islamic issue in the first place is because of certain people running this government from both parties.
We LOST victory in Iraq because of them; you have these terrorist cells building "cultural centers" in YOUR neighborhood because of them; YOUR ports in YOUR country was nearly given to YOUR enemy because of them; now this:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Dubai Ports World, the Arab-owned firm whose purchase of American port facilities caused a U.S. political uproar, will join a program aimed at stopping nuclear weapons being smuggled into the United States, sources familiar with the agreement said on Thursday.

Arnie,
Yes, I saw an article about that NYPD CyberUnit cop suing the city. It seems to have gone without comment in the press hereabouts (NYC).
Funny, reading the article one can see many of the comments could have come straight off of these pages (JW commentaries). And this:
'But it’s not the first time that Bruce Tefft, the former CIA agent who is said to have spent years working for the agency in African countries, is being criticized for his views on Islam.
He already attracted public attention in October of 2004, when he participated in a panel discussion at the University of Toronto on jihad and global terrorism. “Islamic terrorism is based on Islam as revealed through the Qu’ran,” he said then, according to the paper Canadian Jewish News. During the discussion, Tefft admitted there might be moderate Muslims but insisted that Islam itself is immoderate.'
My God! Those could be Robert Spencer's words. So, if they silence Bruce Tefft, will Spencer be next?

Please think about the roles of the so called "moderates" in the jihad.
Of course they(jihadists) need them and are the puppets of the jihad. As soon as they have gained some ground then you can see , exactly in the same time, the rise of moderates in that area to hold positions for the next steps.

Radical Muslims throw bombs, shoot people in the head and want to take over the world.
Moderate Muslims don't do these things. They merely deny that radical Muslims exist at all.
Posted by: ISLAMSFORLOSERS

A moderate muslim is one who is forced to exist among a largely non muslim and not very sympathetic society.
A radical muslim is one who finds power and succor from a large and growing larger, muslim population. The higher the percentage of muslims, the more radical they reveal themslves to be.
There appear to be no exceptions to the above.
at December 8, 2006 11:27 AM
I don't understand all this fuss about this mosque. Who wouldn't want one in their neighborhood? You get a free wake up call each and every morning. Plus, you're less likely to be attacked by a "dirty" bomb because the peaceful ones wouldn't want THEIR wives and kids to die horribly. And of course, you get to celebrate Halloween all year long with the faithful running around in their shrouds and turbans. What's not to like about this?

Religions are exempt from all taxes, including property taxes..which incidentally means that they are those agents of the state. Since it is from the state that they get special treatment (tax exemption) then the only way they can maintain those privilges is by being faithful and obedient and loyal servants of the state.. (fealty a remnant of the feudal relationship between King and subject).
Solution is not palatable to believing Americans, because the real solution is to remove the tax exempt status of ALL religions, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jain whatever.
As regards funding of mosques, we all know where that money comes from. The patrons of Cheney, Bush, and James Baker.. The Saudis'.

Here's a thought, though.....
You know the saying "keep your friends closer, keep your enemies closer"?
At least the residents of Katy will be accutely aware of anything going on in that mosque. Trust me...the reality is that most of the population going to that mosque have never read the whole Koran and hadith and can't be bothered with global jihad (which is why they don't know what the hell they're asking for when they ask for Sharia law). However, the majority of Muslims don't have to be terrorists to wage global Jihad. How many people can one bomb, planted by one person kill? I don't even want to count.
Whether they build Mosques or not, they congregate and meet. At least now, we'll know where to start looking.
Just an idea.

Witness sez: "One PM is literally in a comma . . ."
Reminds me of a really funny tape I heard years ago by a Canadian group called the Canadian Air Farce: It was a telegram being dictated by a doctor: "Have operated on colon semi-colon patient now has semi-colon colon is in semi-coma comma and patient's heart may stop STOP"
Katy, Texas is not too far away from where this Texan lives.
There is no zoning in Houston, Texas, but many commnities throughout the state have deed restrictions which can be enforced by the city in which the property lies.
I defended a homeowner in Katy, Texas years ago on a charge of violating the deed restrictions, and won after a two or three day trial.
If one is doing an investigation of this incident, one would be well advised to start with the deed to the property and see if any covenants are being violated. If they are, Texas law provides for recovery of attorney fees to a winning plaintiff, but not to a winning defendant. This little wrinkle gives an edge to the plaintiff.

The thing that leaped out from the article for me was the assertion there is 170,000 muslims in the Houston area. If the population was that large, there would be mosques everywhere in Houston, and the idea of building a new mosque in the outskirts of town would be nothing new. That number represents something like 3% of the entire population of the greater Houston area, which according to Wikipedia, has a population of 5.3 million, of which 2 million live in the city itself.
So I went to the Census bureau's statistical abstracts on religion at http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/population/religion/
According to table 69, of all adults in the United States (which appear to represent 2/3rds of the total population of the United States), only 1/2 of 1% of all adults self-identify as Muslim or Islamic. If we assume that number is constant across the nation (rather than concentrated in areas such as Dearborn), that means the number in Houston would be more like 28,000 muslims.
My guess would be that number would be roughly half that--because large numbers of the 1.1 million self-identified muslims would probably live in areas such as Dearborn--which would make the number more like 14,000.
A far cry from the 170,000 that the Islamic Society of Greater Houston is claiming.

slightly of topic I admit but I wonder if this could be the underlying cause of Muslim hatred, vindictivness and resentment.
The article mentions "Indians" but I think we can all safely assume this refers to Moslems; and not our Sikh, Hindu, Jain and Budhist allies who along with Christians and Jews are enormous!

We always hear of the Saudis funding all those new mosques. I wonder if their archrivals the Iranians are in this dirty business as well. If so, will we see rival gangs of Islamaniacs gunning each other down in the streets of America ala the Bloods and the Crips? All this mosque building needs to stop-there are more than enough already. Zoning laws should be passed to prevent or at least slow the growth of this trend. Katy, Texas is a suburb of Houston, but it is not really part of the "city" of Houston.
Katy is a separate, independent city. It has its own mayor and city council, its own police force and fire department, and an independent pubic school district. Laws and zoning regulations passed by the city of Houston have no effect there.
