Thailand fears Buddhist exodus from Muslim insurgency in south

Thailand Jihad Update. By Rungrawee C. Pinyorat for Associated Press:

YALA, Thailand – Thailand's Muslim insurgency has prompted hundreds of Buddhists to flee their homes in the restive south, creating refugee-like communities of Thais in their own country.
So far, the migration is limited to a handful of villages, but it has alarmed Thai authorities who fear the daily violence of the three-year-old rebellion could provoke a larger Buddhist exodus and leave the three southern provinces exclusively Muslim.
Buddhist monks have been beheaded, Buddhist teachers slain, and leaflets distributed around Buddhist villages warning that raising dogs and drinking alcohol are offensive to Muslims.
Buddhist monks in one province have halted their alms-seeking rituals after coming under fire, and some Buddhist temples have become military barracks and heavily guarded fortresses.
Suspicions are growing that some of the shadowy groups behind the violence see Buddhists as “infidels” and want them gone. A leaflet which the military says was distributed among Muslim villages called for a separate Islamic state and compared the south to “Palestine and Afghanistan.”
“Increasingly, insurgent violence is being used to scare away Buddhists and keep Muslims under control,” said a recent statement by the Asia division of Human Rights Watch.
High-level officials have paid morale-boosting visits to the displaced Buddhists and Queen Sirikit has funded construction of a dozen heavily guarded Buddhist safe havens in the three provinces for villagers fleeing Muslim-dominated villages.
Authorities have pledged to guarantee the safety of Buddhists and are encouraging them to learn to use firearms, but have issued no detailed plan of action.
Buddhists are 90 percent of Thailand's 65 million people but are a minority of 360,000 among 1.3 million Muslims in the provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani. Here, insurgencies have waxed and waned over various Muslim grievances since the once independent Malay sultanate was annexed by Thailand about a century ago.
The latest round began in January 2004 and has claimed more than 1,800 lives. They include soldiers, civil servants and innocent bystanders. Unofficial statistics show that more than 900 of the dead were Muslims, most of them killed as alleged government collaborators. There are no official figures on how many have left their homes, though at least some of them are Muslims.
The Buddhists feel targeted simply for being Buddhists.
“Buddhists don't feel safe anymore because they know insurgents want them out,” said Srisompop Chitphiromsri, a professor at the Prince of Songkhla University in Pattani who researches the insurgency. “If people are being killed in their homes and in their communities they have one choice: That's to move away.”
The leaflet obtained from security forces was signed by the “Islamic Warriors of Pattani State” and said the south should be Muslim-only.
“This land must be liberated and ruled by Islamic Law. This land does not belong to Thailand,” it said. “This is a land of war that is no different from Palestine and Afghanistan ... Muslims and nonbelievers have to live separately.”
Many are too poor to move, and there have been no mass migrations, Srisompop said.
The nation is closely watching Niwej Sankharam, a Buddhist temple in Yala city, now a safe house for some 230 Buddhists, with teachers being brought in to teach the children in monks' residence halls.
The Buddhists fled here beginning Nov. 9 after attacks on their two remote mountainous villages, which are now empty.
[...]
On Oct. 22 five monks in Narathiwat province were wounded during their morning alms walk when a bomb killed two of their military escorts. Shortly afterward, all 300 monks living at the province's 78 temples decided to forgo the traditional morning ritual until their safety could be guaranteed.
One of the injured, Phra Khru Sangkarak Somchaichotiwaro, said that monks were staying put for now, but noted that if they change their mind it could herald a wider evacuation.
“If temples are abandoned,” he said, “Buddhists will be demoralized and they will leave.”

This is an AP story. Let's see if at long last The New Duranty Times, The Bandar Beacon, and other papers, and NPR, and the television news, will pay attention to this long-running and long-ignored story, and make sense of it for their audience. And the only way to make sense of it is to understand the nature of the belief-system of Islam, and the division of the world between Believer and Infidel, Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. That is the only way.

I agree with the last sentence. All the Muslims should become refugees in cesspoolia-kick THEM out of Thailand. The appeasing prime minister should join them since he's one of them. Once these cockroaches establish themselves somewhere they really think it's their Illah given right to stay forever and expand until all others are gone.
Islamania is the most virulent strain of imperialism ever-not even Nazism or Communism come close.

The media is controlled by do nothing liberals and they will ignore this again. maybe if the military from Thailand have the collective will to engage with the enemy kick them out of Thailand the media might report this incident. you will hear the bleats of muslim outcry at the UN. then perhaps the media will show another wave biased against the muslims. those poor suffering muslims, cant we just get along..

Michiganistan!

Americanistan!

When is america going to wake the hell up?

When will america stop calling this satanic cult of islam a religion and treating it as such?

Since when are rape ,murder and pedophilia considered to be a religious right?

The clinton administration sent americas military to attack david koresh and the branch davadians in waco texas because the government considered it a cult!

The satanic cult of islam has already murdered americans on american soil and threatened to do more of the same. When will we see the american military attack this satanic cult on americas soil?

If thailand is ready to become thailandistan i dont care.

It is time the american government takes a good read of the satanic qu'ran and bans it for the satanic filth it is!

I see only two alternatives. Either go in with military force and kill any armed Muslim whenever or wherever you find him or pull the remaining Buddhists out and set up new borders. Grant them independence and treat them like a hostile country on Thai borders. Pull the plug on all utilities and leave no private property behind.

I suspect that what they really want is a combination of government aid and autonomy. Let them get that from their Muslim brethern in Malaysia.

Did you say there has been a recent coup in Thailand, and a muslim general has been put in charge ?

Only in Thailand ?

Pity.

Did you say say that American foreign policy has canvassed a commission headed by a lawyer in the pocket of the Saudis (Baker) and his commission counsels appeasement ?

Only in America ?

Pity.

Extremists murder two more in South - this morning

Southern insurgents killed a police officer in an ambush in the southern province of Yala Monday morning.

Pol Snr Sgt Maj Somprasong Vongruaydi, 55, was attacked by four men on two motorcycles just before 8 a.m. in Yala town, police said. Somprasong was riding his motorcycle home after a night shift on duty at the Muang district station.

One of the insurgents shot the policeman in the head and took away his pistol.

In a second murder, two gunmen shot and killed a man in Sungai Kolok town, near the Malaysian border of Narathiwat province. Late Duelamae, a local resident, was shot with a .357-calibre handgun.

Violence in Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, where insurgent violence has claimed more than 1,800 lives since its re-eruption in January 2004.

“This land must be liberated and ruled by Islamic Law. This land does not belong to Thailand,” it said.

Of course not. Just like Britain isn't for the British or America for the Americans. ALL belongs to Illah, god of bloodshed, greed, mayhem and thievery. So says the master race mentality of his minions. That's why until Islam is finally wiped out there will always be strife with it.

The three southern provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani were once part of the Kingdom of Pattani which was conquered by Siam centuries ago. The Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909 fixed the border between Malaysia and Thailand and these three provinces ended up on the Thai side.

It may be time for Thailand to let go and accept a new national border that would cut off these three renegade provinces once and for all. After partition, any attacks on Thailand can be interpreted under UN Charter article 51 to be unprovoked belligerence and Thailand would have the right under the Charter to use whatever force it deems necessary to secure its sovereign territory, including the utter destruction of the economic infrastructure of the belligerent state.

This is another example of a jihad that must be somehow squeezed into the nationalistic box. The community of nations is well equipped to deal with belligerent states, a process that has even led to the actual use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, with ipunity for the United States being provided by the International Law of War. The more we can associate jihad with nation-states, even the fake Arab despotisms that are really no more than families with flags, the better we are going to be able to employ the kind of force that will be necessary to ultimately contain it to the desolate regions from which it escaped.

Hulegu Khan,

That would be nothing else than a base to arm themselves there and to proceed north to the capital as we have learned.
Furthermore if everyone gives in to terrorists they will be encouraged to go further, try more, slaughter more ...

How many countries would have reasons to get back territories they had before?

Posted by: Arnie [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 11, 2006 10:13 AM

Not only a base to arm themselve, but yet another islamic state.

No more theocracies can be allowed to form anywhere in the world.

The world has to wake up to this. Freedom of religion of any kind must be allowed, everywhere. When basic human rights are prohibited because of the existamce of a theocratic state, sanctions should be applied to that state until it conforms to some kind of Human Rights charter.

Sharia itself is in violation of basic human rights, and for that there should be litigation against it by world courts as was done with the Nurenburg trials.

its not surprisingthat followers of Islam are killing Buddhist they been doing it for centuries was almost impunity Buddhist the most part are pacifists, where are the Buddhist of Afghanistan that Built the giant standing Buddha that the taliban he destroyed they left were killed or forced to convert to Islam .

Just once I'd like to see a story where there's a Muslim exodus because someone is REALLY oppressing THEM for a change. That would be rather refreshing instead of reading about the daily depradations caused by the peaceful ones.

Posted by: ISLAMSFORLOSERS [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 11, 2006 11:24 AM

When is america going to wake the hell up?

I would estimate that only a fraction of 1% of Americans are aware of what's happening in Thailand, or the Phillipines, or Ossetia, or other bloody edges of Dar al Islam.

And, in the unlikely event that a significant percentage of Americans do become aware of any one of these, the media presentation then will be spun so as to muddle who's doing what.

The classic example of such muddling is that the of the 50% or so of Americans who are aware of the "sectarian strife" in India, perhpas nearly 100% of them have been convinced to think that the temple burnings vs mosque burnings are due to an equal amount of religious tolerance on both sides.

The cesspoolism of Islam evicts another set of rightful owners from their property. Another miserable Dar ul Islam squatter's camp is established. The Muslims, unchecked, see no reason to stop their slow motion stampede of the rest of the world.

We must make them DEEPLY regret attacking the non-Muslim world like this.

EVERY Muslim must be made to feel the pain of how wrong and unjust Islam is for the rest of us. Their psychotic religion severs their connection with the heinousness of their own belief system -- permits them to heave unto us the ugliness of their own minds and souls. This must stop.

We must make Muslims suffer and pay for their predatory and greedy Islamic advances. And we must exact unprecedented suffering among them until they re-connect with the pain and horrors they unleash wherever they go -- Right now, they benefit from a psychotic disassociation from the pain they cause the rest of humanity -- their collective victims. We help enable this disconnection by accommodating them IN ANY WAY, and by not confronting EVERY Muslim for the heinousness of their collective horrific rapes, thefts, and destruction of better cultures and the innocents which inhabit them...

We anti-Jihadists are often excoriated by various individual Muslims for attempting to blame the entire Ummah for the supposed misdeeds of a few among their rabble -- but don't the Muslims themselves worship the idea that the Dar ul Islam - the Ummah -- the Islamic collective is the highest good -- the highest goal? Don't they, even the most outwardly 'peaceful' among them, embrace the notion of Islamic collectivism, and promote it as the greatest benefit and goal for all mankind?

If so, then surely WE should be able to hold their own Islamic collectively, their so called "Ummah" responsible for the actions of any part of the Islamic Amoeba which serves their goal of implementing global Islam, and which is engulfing the planet in strife, misery, bloodshed, revenge, murder, and complete nightmarish chaos!

I just asked in the previous thread if we're goign to fight for our right to be a Christian nation, or just let it slip out from under us- seems like Thailand has decided to not fight- http://sacredscoop.com

It is clear that whereas conventional, traditional imperialist powers were organized around a territorial sovereign government, and were spearheaded by a uniformed and organized army with a single mission -- modern mohammedan imperialism depends instead on large crowds, very loosely organized if at all, acting independently toward related similar goals.

The rest of the world is fighting mobs, a situation for which they are unprepared militarily, intellectually and ethically.

They have neither:
- The military methods to successfully encounter and defeat loosely organized, easily dispersed mobs and crowds.

- The intellectual tools and inclinations to perceive the problem globally for what it is, by objectively analysing seemingly disconnected events around the world. (I.e. this weeks mob scene in Beirut and the amorphous ongoing attack on the Thai people).

- The moral strength and certainty to conceive and execute the hostilities necessary for defeating a hostile mob, with the conviction that they are in the right, that they are good people doing the right thing.

I make no forecast at this moment as to the permanence of these disabilities, but unless they are recognized they cannot be corrected.

-----------

The world needs to recognize that a crowd is not:
- An individual,
- A nation
- An army
- a gang of criminals
- A band of guerillas
- Nor, properly speaking, simply a collection of independent actors, as the members of a crowd have acquired a crowd mentality. Their commonly held outlook is different from that of a truly independent actor, self-conciously making private decisions.

Ergo the methods for defeating a crowd, that is to say crippling its ability to act, and breaking its will to fight, are different from those used to defeat those other types of entity listed above.

(Those others being long recognized and fairly well studied from military, intellectual and moral points of view).

------------

With every passing day I become more convinced that unless these issues are addressed in a methodical and energetic way we will lose.

***
PS (I beliieve the phenomenon of mohammedanism as a means of military inscription was expored best by Sir John Keegan, although to be honest I forget which book, perhaps "A History of Warfare" or "The Book of War".

His idea being that unlike other religions of the world, the development of mohammedanism was inextricably bound up with the need to raise large armies of fearless foot-soldiers.

All his books are excellent. But I don't remember him addressing the problem of crowds vs armies as such.)

“If people are being killed in their homes and in their communities they have one choice: That's to move away.”
Hmmm - how about some of that non-PC "standing and fighting" instead of the PC-corect "apologize and appease"?!

“This land must be liberated and ruled by Islamic Law. This land does not belong to Thailand,” it said. “This is a land of war that is no different from Palestine and Afghanistan ... Muslims and nonbelievers have to live separately.”
Blah, blah, blah - more of the same indignation and self-righteousness from the eternally offended Religion of Peace, Tolerence and Understanding.

I wonder how the Thai's "new" PM/presient will handle this - it's easy to be pesimistic about southern Thailand's non-musliom outlook. If he does nothing to stop this revolt, will the remaining millions upon millions of Thai Buddists and Christians seize his power the same way that he recently did?

Should we not enable these non-Mo victims of the biggest and the most violent Gang in the world to defend themselves? Maybe even send troops to clean up the mess? No silly PC ROE either.

Be there - or be nowhere.

Once conceivable scenario is that King Bhumibol Adulyadej finally decides he's had enough of this crap, whereupon the mahometans decide to deal with him in the usual mahometan manner, following which you would not want to be a mahometan anywhere in or near Thailand. (The imams might just be stupid and arrogant enough to try it.)

Posted by: Infidel33 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 11, 2006 5:14 PM

Why do the muslims need a separate state?
Can they not live under the rule of law under a non-muslim government?
Under the same rationale, Christians, animists, Buddhists and Hindus living in Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, etc. should be granted a separate state.
Tit for tat.

And by the way, Thailand didn't tolerate the communists in the recent past. It will not tolerate the Muslims either if they behave in the same arrogant and murderous way.
