Iran is now a "nuclear power," its President, Mahmoud Ahamdinejad, declared Wednesday, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency. During a speech delivered in the Western Iranian province of Javanroud, Ahmadinejad said: " The Islamic Republic of Iran is now a nuclear power, thanks to the hard work of the Iranian people and authorities."The announcement of Iran as a "nuclear power" is bound to significantly escalate tensions between the West and Iran, and marks a dramatic stage in the Islamic Republic's nuclear campaign.
In recent days, the US military has begun to build up forces around the Gulf, in what is being seen as as a warning to Iran.

It is a Clear Declaration. Twas a time when talking like that would land a nation in a War. now i guess you have to actually get Nuked first?

The west or Israel will be nuked first.
There is no way a western nation can get it's citizens to support anything unless they have been attacked first . Even then the will wears off in a few months.
We hold on to peace until we are either hit in the wallet or hit in terms of lives.
We have no will.

Lets hope that is true, but as you say ,they are stupid enough to use one...they only want to get to paradise quicker!

that shows a kind of desperation of them. they are not quite there yet, but for them it seems that provocation works best to get some more time to achieve this target and in fact it worked for them so far.

I think Olmert didn't make a mistake when he talked about Israel's having nukes. It was a clear message towards Iran and I think this why Iran's so desperate to declare that they are now a nuclear power, which in fact they're not yet.
Israel will never accept when Iran continues this way.

Correction....WE have the will, unfortunately, our politicians who are being bought and sold by corporate america/world are the ones that lack any real determination to deal with Iran. When you sell your soul to the devil, your forfeit your power.
I'd be willing to bet that our corporations (the unloyal bunch that keep sending our jobs overseas) are already rubbing their hands together thinking of ways to make big money in Iran.....

Well i think we need to take them at their word, and at the same NOT take them at their word.
If they say they have Nuclear Power i believe them. if they say they don't have or are not getting Nuclear weapons , i don't believe them.

I would also bet that Iran does have nukes. After all, they are buddies with North Korea and NK has nukes. They are also buddies with China and it is a known fact that China regularly sells missile technology to the ME.
If there were an attack on Israel, there would also need to be a simultaneous attack on the US...and this is precisely what I expect they are planning.
We DO need a larger military....and we'll have one if they attack our country....we'll have one that forms itself.

Before 911, we did some work in Dubai, UAE. Reading through their local paper 'Gulf News', I came across pages and pages of advertising for a military show where weaponry and technology was being sold.
Don't be surprised by this....
The US was also participating. Once again, big business USA is selling us out and this is happening with many governments in the West. Profit to line the pockets of companies creating and manufacturing military technology.

I'm not suprised. in the cold war the US and Russia were basically fighting a Proxy war. they armed and trained their own interests and let them fight it out. many people don't even know that half the Americans shot down in Vietnam were shot down by Russians flying Migs for Vietnam.

BTW, Iran officially declared war on us 20 years ago (many in the forum innocently seem to keep forgetting that fact...it's ok, most forgot it), so their own mouth opened the door forour presence there if they want to raise a stink about it.

How many of you actually believe a Iranian missile strike on Israel or Europe (Can't hit the US yet) is on the cards?
They won't, they'll leave it to their proxies in Hezbollah to do it. They'll use a Nuke in a car trunk in Tel Aviv or Haifa, it's still obvious who did it but the Iranians have a very thin shield of plausible deniability, they will then rely on their media mouthpieces in the west stopping the US and UN from retaliating. Remember the west can not stand to see a soldier break a nail in combat before pulling them out, it's been a constant issue since Somalia.
Noone can face down US or EU troops on the battlefields but the political will to send in the troops and suffer the consequences is lacking and weakening further all the time.

Israel is currently on an alert the equivalant to the United States DEFCON 2, only one step away from DEFCON 1 in which the keys are turned to unlock the firing triggers.
Since Lebanon, Israel has been beefing up the military, calling up more reserves and increasing training.
Israel will take a few lunatics down when the time comes. The show and tell time is coming soon.

Iran may not be able to hit the US directly, but remember they had engineers at the North Korean missile launch. Although the big missile didn't make it across, the other 6 hit their targets. NK could easily hit Hawaii with their existing missiles and they could also target South Korea and Japan. This could be done at the same time Iran hits Israel - directly or indirectly.
These nutters need to be squashed, but as I said, the 'powers that be' are too busy thinking of how they are going to take over the ME so they can have cheap labor for their corporations they will close up here and send over there. They are not loyal to American workers OR America. They are not nationalists - they are globalists.
