Daniel Pipes tells the truth, and CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper, true to form, slings ad hominems and misrepresentations of what Pipes said -- note how criticism of CAIR becomes "a hostile view towards the American Muslim community." Note also that Hooper said nothing to refute Pipes' remarks about the "victimization game"; all he did was play it again. "Islamic Group Has Mastered Victimization Game, Critic Says," by Randy Hall for CNSNews.com, with thanks to DFS:
(CNSNews.com) - The Republican lawmaker who sparked a storm with comments about Muslims and the need to tighten immigration laws is the latest target of an Islamic advocacy group's "victimization game," a political analyst said Thursday. It's a game that the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has "mastered," Daniel Pipes, a critic of the group and director of the Middle East Forum, told Cybercast News Service.
CAIR is calling on Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.) to apologize for writing in a letter to constituents that says, "we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt" strict immigration policies.
Pipes said CAIR was "perpetually on the prowl for any incidence of anti-Muslim sentiment, real or imaginary, spontaneous or provoked, major or minor."
The organization's goal, he said, was "to make the United States like so many other countries - a place where Muslims, Islam and Islamism cannot be freely discussed."
"It is imperative for Americans to retain their freedom of speech about Islam -- as it exists in relation to other religions -- and resist these many demands for remorse."
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said Thursday the organization had "a long history of disagreement" with Pipes.
"He's free to have a hostile view towards the American Muslim community," Hooper told Cybercast News Service.
"He's free to say, as he did to the American Jewish Congress on Oct. 21, 2001, that the growth and enfranchisement of American Muslims is a threat to this country. He's free to do all these things, and we're free to defend against defamatory attacks on our faith and community."
In his Oct. 2001 address, Pipes said: "I worry very much, from the Jewish point of view, that the presence, and increased stature, and affluence, and enfranchisement of American Muslims, because they are so much led by an Islamist leadership, that this will present true dangers to American Jews."
Amplifying later, Pipes said: "You must note that this was spoken to a Jewish audience. I make the same point respectively to audiences of women, gays, civil libertarians, Hindus, Evangelical Christians, atheists, and scholars of Islam, among others, all of whom face 'true dangers' as the number of Muslims increases."

What is frightening is that this 'victimization game' seems to be working in the mainstream media and even in some facets of the 'new media' as well. Several days ago, the substitute host on the usually conservative nationally syndicated Glenn Beck radio talk show blasted Goode as a "racist who obviously does not abide by the principles that the U.S. was built on". I was tempted to counter this shallow goon with simple logic, but the show is tape-delayed where I live, so it would not be feasible. All this on a popular national talk show that claims to be rated #3 nationally after Hannity and Limbaugh!!
That's spooky!!

Hopefully Goode will not back down and play this up as Ameri-Phobia as CAIR uses the victimization card because they are so afraid of American criticism.
Pipes has it going on too- good for him- about time we got someone to call the shots exactly like they are. http://sacredscoop.com

I called Virgil Goode's office on the day this story broke, thanked them, and asked them not to apologize to the ingrown toenails over at CAIR. I also advised them that they had more support than they could ever imagine on this issue.
Please feel free to give them a call and show support for someone with guts enough to speak out on what has become a worldwide problem......Out of control Islamists.

Looks like an attack on CAIR is an attack on all of Islam. Boo hoo. Once again Iblis and his band of bullies are thin skinned-it sure is funny how the bullies always play the victims with this bunch.

Dr. Pipes has been invited to debate Mayor Ken Livingstone in London January 20.
(This has got to be better than George Galloway v. Chris Hitchens)
http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=rabinowitz121506%2Ehtm
Known as "Red" Ken for his leftwing extremism, the London Mayor has invited Dr. Daniel Pipes to debate him at a conference billed as - "A World Civilisation or a Clash of Civilisations?"
The event is scheduled to take place on January 20th at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Center. The unusual confrontation is sponsored by the Mayor's office and is taxpayer funded.
According to the event brochure Livingstone envisions London as "a multicultural city...creating a new concept of world civilization that corresponds with a globalised world."
Dr. Pipes views the fault lines of the current conflict "not so much a clash of civilizations as a clash of civilizations v.s. barbarism."
Livingstone, with his track record of ad hominem, anti-Semitic and physical attacks, appears to be engaging in a colossal act of hubris, hoping to best Dr. Pipes' dispassionate intellectualism with his own brand of ideologically bound, vocal excess.

Bishop attacks 'victim' Muslims
Christopher Morgan
THE Church of England’s only Asian bishop, whose father converted from Islam, has criticised many Muslims for their “dual psychology”, in which they desire both “victimhood and domination”.
In the most outspoken critique of Muslims by a church leader, Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester, said that because of this view it would never be possible to satisfy all their demands.
“Their complaint often boils down to the position that it is always right to intervene when Muslims are victims, as in Bosnia or Kosovo, and always wrong when the Muslims are the oppressors or terrorists, as with the Taliban or in Iraq,” said Nazir-Ali.
“Given the world view that has given rise to such grievances, there can never be sufficient appeasement and new demands will continue to be made.”

Sock it to 'em, Rep. Goode! I still insist that Keith Ellison is an Uncle Abid--"slave" in Arabic, and, I understand, that language's usual term for a black person.

verballistic,
Well I say the fool is a filthy rat who would sell out every man, woman and child in the USA. Who is the bigger threat, him or the jihadists he sucks up to? Make him live with his buddies for good, let’s see if he doesn’t change his mind. and then us racists can tell him to blow it out his you know what.

Scumbag and CAIR spokesperson Ibrahim Hooper said of Daniel Pipes
He's free to say, as he did to the American Jewish Congress on Oct. 21, 2001, that the growth and enfranchisement of American Muslims is a threat to this country.
Sigh. If only he had given that speech a couple of months earlier, and if only we had listened.
I don't always agree with Daniel Pipes, as when he predicts that Islam will reform itself, but in this case he was right on.

Robert-
I don't know anything about your relationship with Hooper, but I'll bet he is very nervous with you and runs away from you. I'll bet he fears you since you see through him. I have a hunch his "conversion" is somehow rooted in Jew-hatred. Just a hunch. Hooper is a foul ball.

I just saw the report on this story on CNN. The mind boggles! What a shlock!
An idiot of a reporter in a mad frenzy, (are there any others in our MSM?) running around in Goode’s electorate, asking people whether they discriminate against Muslims and why restaurants don’t have a Mohammedan prayer on their menu along with Christian & Jewish prayers…
The owner of the restaurant of course denied that there is discrimination against Muslims (unlikely that he ever had any of them as guests, but ‘discrimination’ is such a ‘racist’ word) so now he has to find a proper Koran-verse for his menu!
Surely he will have no problem putting ‘kill the unbelievers wherever you find them’ on his menu to appease the Ellison-voting hijabbed/turbaned and bearded crowd.
at December 23, 2006 5:48 PM
sheik yer'mami I just finished watching that segment on CNN what a joke. I just love how they extrapolated that everyone in that restaurant must be racist as there is no muslim prayer on the back of the menu. The left wing propoganda is getting less sophisticated everyday. Signs they are getting frustrated and desperate.
As for Virgil Goode never heard of the guy before. But if he runs for president I will make donations. He is the only guy I am rooting for right now since both sides are fronting some mediocre candidates in the case of the GOP and in the case of the dems just out right traitors and losers.

No surprise here...and when they get done smearing Goode, they'll move on like the locusts they are to the next target, and the next and the next...if you're an infidel, you're on that target list.

Apologies for the long post;I'm not very 'techie' and the only way I know to share this message is to copy and paste the entire email received from the 910 Group. Many JWers ask "what can we do to further the cause?" Here is something really practical and the 910 Group have done all the groundwork for us. I know some here have joined the 910 Group (Hi Foehammer!) and I urge more to do so. Let's really start making our voices heard.
Message from 910 Group:
"We are asking for your help. Please send either the email text provided below, or your rewrite of it, to your Congressman and Senator, and if possible also mail a print copy to them. Below is text for an email and letter campaign protesting the Council on American-Islamic Relation (CAIR) attack against Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA), for his legitimate criticisms of Representative–elect Keith Ellison’s (D-MN) plan to use a Koran for his swearing-in. You can change this text as you see fit, and your letter should be sent from you personally, not from the “910 Group.”
Please send this letter to your Congressional Representatives and Senators by email. Just cut and paste the text into your own email, rewrite it if you want, and then copy the contact information for your Congressman and Senators into the “to” line.
For contact info for your representatives, go here: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/officials/congress and enter your zip code or address.
To send a copy of your email to your local media, as well as national media, go here: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media and enter your zip code.
To send a copy of your email to the Republican National HQ, asking them to stand by Goode, go here: http://www.gop.com/ContactUs/
A warning: Congress now blocks many emails, so to be effective, you should also send your letter by regular postal mail (snailmail). Remember to include in both the email and letter the information that you are a constituent, the city where you live, that you vote, any relevant organizational or interest group affiliations, and whether you are an employer in the state.
Thanks for your help in this urgent matter.
Regards,
The 910 Group Directors
In the last twenty-four hours, U.S Representative Virgil H. Goode Jr. (R-VA) has been subjected to an unfair and biased persecution, orchestrated by the extremist, Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), for positions that he expressed in a recent letter to his constituents. In this letter, Rep. Goode wrote with concern over Muslim immigration into the United States, and criticized the decision of Representative-elect Keith Ellison to use the Koran at his swearing-in ceremony. Rep. Goode has also received several threatening phone calls according to the Franklin County Sheriff - simply for writing a letter to his constituents.
Enough is enough. I am writing to ask for your support for Rep. Goode. The symbolism of using the Koran at a ceremony where Mr. Ellison will swear to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States should raise questions about the obvious conflict of interest that Mr. Ellison must have in fulfilling such an oath. We need to stand firm against pressure from extremist Islamist advocacy groups, and from their appeasers in the media and in our Congress.
Rep. Goode of course supports the right of any American to practice his or her religion, no matter what it is. So do I, and I know you do also. But he doesn’t support the right to practice a dangerous political ideology, in the form of Radical Islam, which is masquerading as a religion.
Radical Islam is a political ideology, like communism or fascism, that threatens most Muslims and all non-Muslims worldwide. People of all other religions, including freedom-loving Muslims and atheists, are in its gunsights. All races are its victims, and people all over the world are being blown up, beheaded, tortured, and intimidated by those who act in the name of this bullying political ideology.
When Rep. Goode and our other elected representatives put their hands on the Bible to swear an oath, they are simply asking God to be their witness. They are not citing Christian or Jewish or other religious authority to justify or require any particular legislative action.
But a Muslim’s holy book requires him to wage jihad and create certain political – not religious – institutions such as sharia law, which are in direct opposition to American values and the American Constitution. The Koran, which to Muslims is the word of God, compels believers to install by any means the legal and political system of sharia in all human societies. It regards the land as belonging only to Allah and commands believers to return it to the community of Islam from the occupying non-believers. The literal application of teachings in the Koran would compel our society to live under these harsh strictures of sharia law, the legal code prescribed by the Koran, which denies basic rights to women, prescribes death to Islam’s apostates, and forbids or subjugates other religions.
This political ideology of Radical Islam is a clear and present danger in this country and throughout the civilized world. America’s traditions of open-handedness and religious tolerance have been used against us. If we do not take a stance against this political ideology, and its apologists like CAIR, someday the tradition of American tolerance will no longer exist.
For this reason we ask you to support Rep. Goode in his concern that the Koran demands loyalties that directly counter our Constitutional liberties. We ask that you call on all Muslims in America to repudiate publicly the Islamic scriptures and traditions which sanction conquest by violence, oppression, and religious intolerance.
We live in a dangerous world, one in which deceit and disinformation are being used against us by an implacable enemy. Self-appointed spokesmen such as CAIR pretend to represent Muslim Americans but in fact represent nothing more than the interests of their fundamentalist millionaire backers. It is no longer enough to take their word that they and their co-religionists mean the rest of us no harm. It is both reasonable and prudent to ask Muslims to demonstrate by both word and deed that they support the United States Constitution and the rule of law, even if it disagrees with their religion’s instructions. Especially if it disagrees with their religion’s instructions.
This is the line we are drawing. We need to know who is standing on our side of the line, and we welcome you, and people of all religions, including Islam, to stand with us."

The BBC reported on the Goode's speaking out about Muslim immigration on their night time radio tonight. The presenter trailed the item by saying we would be finding out what had got up his right wing nose. An American reporter with the surname Shapiro (I didn't catch his first name, I'm afraid) then spoke at length about hoe isolated Goode's constituency was, how it was in a state of economic depression owing to manufacturing jobs going abroad and how it was a case of the local population looking for a scapegoat. He added that Goode was also a campaigner for a fence on the Mexican border (even before the current administration was in favour of one) and objected to Mexican flags being waved on demonstrations in the US - thus showing him to be a xenophobe. Finally the puzzling fact that he was once a democrat was explained for UK listeners: the party was once the white ruling party in the south but many of its members have felt more at home with the republicans since the democrats became more liberal. That Muslim immigration presented any problem at all for the US was a possibility neither party thought even worth discussing.
So now BBC listeners are fully up to speed on what Congressman Goode has been doing.

The muslim danger (to Jews, women, homosexuals, true scholars of Islam, etc.) already exists here in Canada. Muslims outnumber Jews, and certain leaders (of the Islmaist variety) have been throwing their weight around. They're virulent antisemites (along with despising the United States) and make no apologies. So it's routine to find hate-literature distributed at mosques, jihadist videos sold outside of mosques, nazi propaganda repeated (printed from Internet hate sites) in Arab papers, etc., etc. I see the problem growing worse, not better. Especially when no one dares even mention the word "immigration". Not that long ago a political leader from Denmark went on a tour (back home the politician requires 24 hour protection due to death threats from Islamists) of certain areas in Canada -- she said it looked the same as what she saw in Denmark.

Correction -- the political leader, Rita Verdonk, is from Holland (not Denmark). She travelled by train between Ottawa and Toronto and saw similarities. (See "Dutch see similarities with Hofstad Group [the terrorist group that murdered van Gogh]: minister of immigration cites parallels" by Joseph Brean and Mary Vallis, National Post, June 8, 2006).

Yes, thank you Kate. I wrote a letter to Virgil Goode yesterday, and faxed it to his Virginia office, thanking him for his courage. We are at war with these people! Why doesn't anyone get it? Well, I suppose those in Holland, Sweden and Denmark do, they are working on getting the thing turned around, or so you hear from the blogs.
By the way, there is a Republican candidate worth mentioning, pissedoffcanadian, it is Duncan Hunter. He has declared that he is running for the '08 Presidential election. He gets it, and so does Tom Tancredo, another Republican. Pat Buchanan has said he will not run, but everyone is begging him to do so.
