U.S. agencies missing links between illegal immigration and jihad terrorism

Another story highlighting the howling need for immigration reform, and underscoring its status as a national security issue. As the embattled Congressman Goode said, illegal immigration must be stopped, and legal immigration drastically curtailed -- with an eye toward keeping jihadists from entering the country. "Of special interest: U.S. agencies missing links between illegal immigration and terrorism," by Sara A. Carter in the San Bernardino County Sun, with thanks to Doc Washburn:

COLUMBUS, N.M. - On Sept. 5, a man calling himself Miguel Alfonso Salinas was apprehended off a deserted highway near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The tinted windows on Alfonso Salinas' vehicle aroused the suspicion of Border Patrol agents patrolling a dark and desolate stretch of Highway 9, which runs parallel to the border and is the site of large numbers of illegal crossings.

The agents discovered three Mexican migrants in the vehicle with Alfonso Salinas.

But what they discovered several days later made a far greater impression.

Alfonso Salinas was not who he seemed, according to U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security documents. He lied to the agents about who he was, where he came from and what he was doing.

It would take nearly a week of interviews with federal agents before Alfonso Salinas would give his real name: Ayman Sulmane Kamal, a Muslim born in Egypt - a country designated as "special-interest" by the United States for sponsoring terrorism.

Kamal's case is not an isolated one.

Evidence of "special-interest aliens" using the Mexican border to gain entry to the United States has been kept secret from the American public, according to federal law-enforcement agents, terrorism experts and critics of U.S. foreign policy with Mexico.

In 2005, the Border Patrol apprehended approximately 1.2million people illegally in the U.S. Of those, 165,000 were from countries other than Mexico, and roughly 650 were, like Kamal, from special-interest countries, according to the Border Patrol.

Those interviewed by the Sun's sister newspaper, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario, say agencies including the FBI and CIA are not using information from Border Patrol and Drug Enforcement Administration agents to make connections between the drug trade, illegal immigration and terrorist organizations.

"For us to believe that Mexican smugglers will not assist, knowingly or unknowingly, foreign terrorists trying to enter the United States is incomprehensible," said Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, who, along with other representatives, has pushed for stricter border security policies.

Read it all.

we have been hearing stories like this for years, but what makes Carter's excellent article truely chilling is the attitude of the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
what does it take to make those in authority wake up ? what pressures or incentives are being applied to maintain their state of denial?
this also reminds me that of pre-911 complaints from Saudi students that Americans regularly mistook them for Mexicans....

The aclu, the liberals the illegal aliens and the dhimmicrats wont permit anything be done about illegals crossing the border until there is another attack and thousands of innocent unarmed american men women and children are slaughtered!
They come here seeking the rights the constitution permits them. the right to pursue what ever makes them happy. so what if what makes them happy is to attack and slaughter innocent unarmed american men women and children , isnt that what the constitution promises them!
Its like the final bowl football game, the liberals, illegal aliens, aclu, cair, and the dhimmicrats have the ball. its 4th quarter 4th down, the ball is on the 10 yards from attacking and slaughtering innocent unarmed american men women and children line. We cant do squat until the ball is hiked or there will be a hugh penalty!
law suits filed by aclu, cair demanding appologys, the liberals and dhimmicrats screaming islamophobes and the msm showing america for the racist, bigots and islamophobes we americans truely are!
hut 1, hut 2, hut, hut, hike! BOOOOOM

OT, but 7 bombs have exploded in Bangkok, Thailand, wounding 12 people.

Our friends have been busy again, it seems.

Posted by: Voltaire [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 7:35 AM

This is because our politicians are craven, timid cowards.

When something does happen - and it probably will - they will scurry around seeking dark places to hide.

We need to remember these cowards and hold them accountable.

Posted by: infidel! [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 7:49 AM

Infidel!

Our politicians are bought by corporate america who WANTS illegals to stream into this country - for cheap labor. You, me and everyone born here can rot as far as they are concerned. They are not at all interested in protecting our borders. They would love to eliminate them - for all the cheap labor and factory opportunities in Mexico.

Greed is why our country is no longer protected. Our politicians should be tried for treason.

These 'powers that be' also think our soldiers are expendable......as long as they end up with the cheap labor and cheap oil in Iraq. How many will they send to die so that they can enrich their pocketbooks?

I watched President Ford's funeral and watched the military during the funeral and I thought back to the days when this country was 'for the people'. When our military were here to protect our nation. Now it seems that politics are to bring about the interests of corporations and our soldiers are expendable tools to get what they want. Sort of like the old days when Kings sent their armies out to take over other nations for their resources.

It's been done here through the back door. By stealth.

Do not expect our politicians to stop what is happening. They have sold their souls and are merely puppets.

The anger of a "Palestinian" doctor who belongs to the religion of tolerance.

Woman turned away by doctor - for being American.

An American woman has been refused treatment by a doctor in Blekinge in southern Sweden because of her nationality. The woman's husband has now reported the incident to the Medical Responsibility Board.

Valery Johansson, who lives in a small town just outside Nashville, Tennessee, was in Sweden to celebrate Christmas with her husband's family.

On Christmas Day, worried that she may have contracted strep throat, she sought medical help. Her husband and niece made an appointment for her at a clinic in the town of Karlshamn.

"We went up there and the nurses were really nice. They did some swab tests, which they then passed on to a doctor," Johansson told The Local.

But when the American woman, accompanied by her husband and niece, went to meet the doctor in his treatment room, he declined to examine her.

Rather than introduce himself, the doctor waved the patient's papers and shouted "she doesn't have strep throat, she doesn't have strep throat". He then added that he would not treat her.

"He said he didn't like Americans," said Johansson.

He also disliked hearing English spoken in his treatment room and soon walked out.

"We just couldn't believe it. We were left standing there with our mouths hanging open," said Johansson.

According to Johansson, the doctor was a Palestinian who objected to American foreign policy in the Middle East.

Her niece followed the doctor into the office to confront him but was told: "I don't deal with people like that".

When Johansson returned to the clinic the following day she was met by a manager, who apologised and encouraged her to report the matter to the Medical Responsibility Board.

The nurses were also embarrassed by the doctor's behaviour and repaid the 820 kronor that Johansson had handed over in advance for her treatment. They too advised her to report the doctor.

In the report Johansson has claimed that she was discriminated against on ethnic grounds.

Before returning to the United States at the beginning of January she also intends reporting the incident to the American Embassy in Stockholm.

That doctor should lose his right to practice in Sweden, but don't hold your breath. Europe has become very anti-American and horribly PC via their one-sided, anti-American, anti-Israel, pro-muslim, media.

Posted by: The Goobs [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 8:49 AM

US agencies are not 'missing' this link, they are willfuly ignoring it. Both Dems and Repubs are dying to get the Mexican vote, and they'll do NOTHING that would upset them. You can kiss the border fence goodbye now that Dems control Congress.

Unless a nationalist party comes to power, nothing will ever be done to stop illegal immigration and secure our borders.

Posted by: george_rem [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 9:08 AM

george_rem - I agree completely, but I cannot see any way that this will happen.

Even if 'we the people' were able to organize and pull together enough citizens to get a few folks elected if corporate america does not like the message, they will not allow the media (owned by corporate America) to give you airtime. That would mean suicide for them.

Even if people managed to get a few folks elected to Washington, the majority would squash any change they were trying to make. It would be a very long, hard road.

Short of a total cleanout of Washington politicians or more radically a real revolution of the people demanding more patriotism/nationalism, nothing will ever change.

They are selling our country, our jobs, our traditions, our morals and our national identity out from under us. They overwork us, underpay us, give us a feeling of powerlessness so that the average American is just getting by.....and so they shop at the great wall of china mart for cheap goods - made in China.....by corporate American companies.....and they continue to put more American workers out of work....but they use the excuse...."I can't buy American made goods" or they simply have become so self-focused on their own needs that they blow off the fact that they are helping to kill off our country.

The dollar is worthless and our country is in horrible debt. Compare that with Europe. It's only a matter of time before we unite with Canada and Mexico as a North American trading block - so that we can compete.

Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln would be rolling in their graves if they saw how our country has been taken over by 'greedy powers that be'.

Posted by: The Goobs [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 9:33 AM

P.S......WHY do we keep getting PC garbage shoved down our throats? For the same reasons Europe has.

Consider this. IF you want to turn the US into a North American trading block, then you have to kill patriotism/nationalism. You cannot afford for Americans to have borders or traditions or an 'American way'. You cannot afford 'integration'. What you want is a watering down of American traditions, society, and everything else.

In Europe, the EU (supposedly put together to help with trade and to eliminate war issues) was REALLY put together to create a European Superstate. Any attempt by a nation member to hold to its national identity was eventually labelled as bigotry. It's bigotry to fly the Union Jack, but its patriotic to fly the EU flag. Go figure. It's not about being British or French or Spanish...It's about being EUROPEAN.

It's only a matter of time until the 'powers that be' start to make us feel that we are biggots if we speak up and say that we want America to remain the same. That's the REAL reason for the term 'islamaphobia'. Anyone who speaks out is a biggot. They want to change who we are - from Americans to North Americans.

To them we are units of work........expendable units of work.

You heard it here first.

Europe would be going ahead of America in leaps and bounds if they hadn't been so stupid as to bring muslims into their country.

De Gaulle was so jealous of America, that he sabotaged his own country as well as Europe, in a desperate bid to bring about an Arab/ Europe alliance, when all they had to do was to create a united Europe, and stay out of stupid meaningless wars.

Europe, how could you be so stupid as to screw up?

But "they're good-hearted, hard working people", our Amigos to the South, no?

Mexico is a highly, highly corrupt, near dysfunctional country and it has been for decades, if not over a century. Why? Lack of rule of law, lack of standards, rules, procedures, just like many places in the world, family connections is what's it all about.

And the 20 million or so illegal Latinos in the USA bring their 6th grade education and their lack of respect for our laws and rules into our states and cities everyday. Where are our political leaders? Where are our opinion makers? Where is the media's responsiblity to investigate these issues in a balanced way?

No where to be found because political correctness has so infected most people in this country (and the West) that people don't have a spine to face difficult issues anymore. They make silly comparisons of the illegals to the Pilgrams from the early 1600's - what a joke. I don't think the Pilgrams commited social security card fraud, visa fraud, income tax evasion, drove cars without a license or insurance and got paid under the table by law-breaking restaurants and lawn-care companies!

Posted by: Nessus [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 10:00 AM

Where are our political leaders? Bought out by lobbyists (corporate America)

Where are our opinion makers? Not getting airtime because corporate America doesn't like their message. Even Rush Limbaugh is sticking up for the great wall of china mart.

Where is the media's responsiblity to investigate these issues in a balanced way?

The media is owned by 5 corporations in the US and other countries. Don't expect them to say anything that will in any way cost them money.

Hate to say it...but these illegals are making SOME folks big money but are putting our young people out of work and depressing our wages....which of course is attractive to Corporate America.

In Europe, Brussels makes the laws and these laws override each nation members laws. EU Standards.....must be met by EU members. Wonder who will come up with the standards for NAU?

Posted by: The Goobs [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 10:06 AM

Our voice is only heard on the internet and it's only a matter of time (Corporations are buying up the internet services) before the NET is monitored and sites that work in any way against the goals of 'the powers that be' are shut down. That's all from me today folks.

Happy New Year.

Below from the bottom last few paragraphs of the complete article I find of particular interest. Apparently this "Saint of Death" is being seen everywhere along the border. I'm trying to find an image of what this symbol looks like since it can also be found tatooed on drug dealers and be found on vehicles as well.

"Statues of La Santa Muerte - The Saint of Death."

Like Hezbollah,Hamas, and Al-Qaida, which promise martyrs that their family members will be provided for after suicide bombings, Mexican drug-trafficking organizations promise high-level members that if they die in the name of the cartel, their families will be provided for. Other similarities include the growing number of beheadings of Mexican police officials by the cartels to instill terror".

Also of concern is the attitude of Texas Congressman Silvester Reyes who was appointed by House Majority leader Nancy Pelosi to be the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. When confronted with video evidence of Mexican military incursions across US borders by top border agents, Reyes stated to them in a hearing that they where either "lying or mistaken." This is the same Reyes who couldn't answer basic questions regarding things you need to understand about terrorism and its sources.

Capitalism creates wealth. Socialism just redistributes it.

Company's unable to adjust pay scales with relation to the relative value of the work has forced many companies to seek lower labor costs. As well as some measure of tax relief.

The American worker expected benefits well in excess of what their work could possibly expect to maintain.

The notion that someone could work only 20 years with the expectation of living the good life at the expense of others for the next 30 or more years is pure economic madness.

Even today, the Trade union loyalists are selling out their fellow workers by signing contracts that maintain the good life for the long term Employees while selling out the new arrivals.

Socialism. the Utopia for all mankind.

It will be a hoot to see the effect of the Demoncrats policy of "Economic Fairness" will lead us to.

The nice thing about Capitalism is, it isn't pretentious enough to view itself as a "fair" system. Let alone Utopian in nature.

It did manage to make the United States the power it is today. Simply because it rewarded hard work, ambition ingenuity, etc.

You find it is the Socialists who decry Capitalism the most. Usually because they are not receiving the good life they expect is their right to receive For doing nothing.

I;m not aware of any Socialist Country that is doing well economically that isn't heavily funded by Capitolist endeavors or by some outside income stream generated by the sale of national resources to others.

Wealth, as generated by purely Socialist economic policy is non existent.

Even National Defence of Western Socialists Countries is heavily dependent upon Western Capitalists Countries. I think that pretty much leaves the United States.

We defeated Fascism in Europe, Defended them against Communism at great cost in National treasure. Only to suffer their apparent desire to settle for the next worst thing.

Now Europe doesn't like us because they have no money, no Jobs, An Imported work force that doesn't like them and they are dependent upon the Middle East and Russia for their energy needs.

Just looking at NATO efforts in Afghanistan is enough to tell any sane person how bankrupted NATO has become. Out of all the NATO Countries with troops stationed there. Only 3 have the wherewithal to shoot at the Enemy. Let alone even get near where they are.

I think Europe doesn't like us, as a bottom line issue. Because America will force them to defend themselves. Weather they want to or not.

Illegal immigration will never be addressed. The Democrats are already talking again about a "path to citizenship". Ted Kennedy wants to bring to America Iraqis who have been displaced by the war.
If weren't so sad it would be funny. They're destroying the American tax base. Americans who can't earn a living can't pay taxes and they can't buy any but the cheapest imports. We're exporting cotton and importing textiles. We're exporting jobs and importing workers. It should be the other way around. A new car? Fuhgeddaboutit!!! Not in my lifetime anyway.
The American consumer mitigated 9/11's impact on the American economy. Can Bill Gates and his cronies do it all by themselves if we're attacked again? Let's hope so. The only jobs left for educated Americans are paid for by taxes: Government, police, teachers, health care (Medicare, Medicaid), etc.
Maybe it's all part of the plan. We destroy America in order to save it. Make it more of a third world country and soon no one will want to come. Move the work to Asia and there's no need for more labor. Americans aren't having enough children to replace the current population, so it will shrink and the US will become a wildlife refuge. Hey, that's great for tourism!!

Posted by: PMK [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 12:23 PM

there are some politicians interested in protecting america and american jobs and values.
The problem is there are more politicians interested in getting their bank accounts filled than protecting americans.
So those politicains who desire to protect america and stop or slow down immigration and stop illegals from coming into america to destroy our constitution and the american way of life cant do squat unless or until there is an attack on the scale of 9/11 that forces the other politicians to act. thus we have illegal immigrants arrested and set free to roam americas streets.
The articel said the egyptian was arrested but then set free now they have no clue where he is!
This is what im talking about, until this egyptian and his muslim coreligionist attack and kill thousands of americans nothing will be done to stop them!

This is exactly why we need to build a big wall with punji stakes, moats, booby traps, concertina wire which is regularly patrolled by unmanned aircraft and by well armed, equipped and trained border patrol agents which are allowed to fulfull the duties of protecting american sovereignty.

At the same time we should continue to allow legal immigration to continue and screen all illegals currently residing here for criminal records and background interviews in order to consider allowing a system to potentially become US citizens.

Posted by: chep [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 8:17 PM

For the life of me, I don't understand why our government (especially one that is Republican and "conservative) open the doors of immigration to muslims, unlike Europe we do not have a labor shortage..

But more horrifying is the fact that this conservative Republican government, has given permits in the thousands to Jihadis (and all muslims, especially the youth are potential Jihadis) from Saudi Arabia and elsewheres.

One would expect bleeding hearts in the Dhimmicratic party to roll over for Islam.. but the Repugnicans? Et tu brutus.

And now the unfortunate aftermath of the disastrous decision to lie to America so he could earn some macho points and invade Iraq (as well as well heel his friends at Baker Botts, the Carlyle Group, and Haliburton and Exxon Mobil), is that we will be flooded with more muslims from Iraq "fleeing" the persecution.. and I wonder how many Iraqi's have already been permitted into the U.S., we haven't learned our lesson not even after letting in that criminal and liar Chalibi.. whose lies and obfuscations and contacts with Iran were used to cook the intelligence that was used to b.s. the U.N. and America into supporting the invasion.

And by the way, there is nothing to win, and no way to win In Iraq..but we are suffering and will continue to suffer the adverse unintended consequences of blowback.

Socialism ultimately does not work because it eliminates competition or even reason to achieve.

This country WAS based on capitalism and that once WAS a good thing....but you are talking about a time BEFORE our jobs were being sent to China. A time BEFORE globalization.

American workers had a sense of value and took pride in their work. Now, they do not know from one day to the next if they will lose their job to a cheaper labor market overseas. Job security is out the window. Cheap labor (illegal immigrants and outsourcing) is killing our economy.

Most corporations view their workers as mere units of work and it's ONLY about profit for them. Gone are the days when employers believed that if they were good to their workers, their workers would be loyal to them.

So, capitalism is great WHEN IT IS SEPERATE FROM GOVERNMENT.

Government needs to be FOR THE PEOPLE. Protecting the rights of its citizens NOT protecting the rights of Corporations. Making sure that corporations have some independent monitoring rather than giving them freedom to treat the workforce however they wish.

Yes, Capitalism creates wealth....but anymore it only creates it for the few by overworking or turning their backs on American workers.

By the way, Europe is very socialist in its approach and the Euro is doing a hell of a lot better than the Dollar. They have a national health plan and they are no longer dependent on the US like you might think. They have combined forces and are now a much larger population of workers with greater wealth, industry and plenty of resources. They are also very much in demand by China. Also, you will note that the UAE and Iran and some other countries are switching their dollars for Euros. It's only a matter of time.

Corporate greed is selling our country out from under us.
