What are 1,500 supporters of Islamic jihad and Sharia law doing in Minneapolis? What are the implications of this for our own national security? Why is no one with any power or influence even asking these questions?
"Area Somalis want peace for homeland: Many of the 1,500 protesters in Minneapolis were angered that the U.S. gave tacit support for ousting of Islamists," by Liz Fedor in the Star Tribune, with thanks to CGW:
More than a thousand Somalis gathered in Minneapolis on Saturday to call for Ethiopian troops to withdraw immediately from Somalia.Their protest capped a week in which transitional government troops retook Mogadishu, Somalia's capital, with the backing of Ethiopian infantrymen.
The U.S. government "gave the green light" to Ethiopia to work in concert with the transitional federal government in Somalia, and that action was "totally wrong," said Hassan Mohamud.
He is the president of the Somali Institute for Peace and Justice in Minneapolis, which organized Saturday's rally.
"We ask the president of the United States, Mr. Bush, and his administration to stop supporting the terrorists. Ethiopian troops are terrorists," Mohamud said to a cheering crowd.
Somali men, women and children gathered Saturday morning in Peavey Park in Minneapolis, and they carried an array of signs. Some said "No more war" and "Islam is the solution."
Lt. Rick Thomas of the Minneapolis Police Department estimated the crowd at about 1,500 people for a rally that ran for more than two hours.
Mohamud said he and other Somalis want the United States to support talks that can yield "peace and reconciliation."
Somalia has not had a stable government in 15 years, but many attendees at the rally said that the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) had brought some peace to the country during the past six months.
When that Islamic group took over the capital in June, many people were optimistic about the future, said Omar Jamal, executive director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in Minneapolis.
"They brought back security," Jamal said in a telephone interview. "We were all hoping that the moderates would be able to take the lead in the organization of the UIC. But unfortunately, the radicals hijacked the process."
Don't they always.
Jamal said the large Somali community in Minnesota "is divided," adding that many local Somalis supported the overthrow of the Islamists over the past few days.Jamal said he attended the rally as an observer....
Sadia Egal, 23, said she had been planning to visit her parents in Somalia in January. But the recent military actions prompted her to postpone the trip. She is fearful that her teenage brothers in Somalia could be killed in revenge slayings. "My dad asked them to stop going to school," she said, so they could stay home and avoid being targets for violence.
Egal, who lives in north Minneapolis, has not returned to Somalia since she left the country with her aunt when she was 12 years old. She works as a parking attendant and interpreter and has been saving her money for six months to pay for her plane ticket.
Abdullahi Hassan, a small-business owner from Eden Prairie, said, "What brought me here [to the rally] is our country is under occupation by foreign forces." He said the United States should support a process that would allow highly educated Somalis to find solutions to stabilize the country and build hospitals and schools that will serve the people.
Tacit U.S. approval
A member of the Somali Institute for Peace and Justice, Abdul Mohamed of Minneapolis, said the military advances last week by Ethiopian troops created "one of the worst moments in Somali history."
Mohamed disagrees with U.S. policy in Somalia, which he said is driven by "Islamophobia."
If anyone in the American government had any courage, they would tackle this head-on, explaining that they opposed the Somali jihadists not only because they had ties to Al-Qaeda, but because Sharia government institutionalizes discrimination against women and religious minorities and denies freedom of conscience, and is in general an outrage to the dignity of the human person. In other words, they would engage the ideological challenge posed by the global jihad by asserting the superiority of the values of the modern West, and of the civilization built on Judeo-Christian values. But they don't dare.

If the local population is divided, where is the counter demonstration? Could it be that they live in fear of retribution from their ever so tolerant countrymen? 'Tis a sad state of affairs that such a demonstration supporting anti-western jihadists draws any support on this soil, much less that a massive counter-demonstration doesn't shout them down.
"Our country is under occupation by foreign forces"? Why are you here? What is this country to you? The melting pot doesn't melt rocks into the mixture. Wake up America!

Islam is the final solution. People who treat beliefs as if they are absolute-truth-fact are not capable of being appealed to through reason. Such smugness, such arrogance (always a cover for doubts and insecurities) will one day require a response to this belief-system by Israel and others just for survival purposes.
Islam is the only major belief-system that condones deception. Being a belief-system adherent means saying one thing in public and another in private. It's the face of trickery. All of us here generally agree on these topics but to what end? Until immigration is at least reduced if not halted for a period of time, our talk is just that, talk.
The elites who hold political office and also the media, who stifle any real discussion of these topics, are the ones who control the dynamics.
Until immigration of all but especially muslims is reduced, it's just talk; just you-know-what into the wind.

I happened to see on the television news a huge group of Iraqi Shiites celebrating the death of Saddam. I thought I was seeing pictures from Iraq -- but, no, it was from Dearborn, Michigan. I could not believe it. Nor do I believe these were Americans -- sorry, but these people (cheering and throwing candies, celebrating a death) are NOT Americans. Along with the Somalis, they should head back to the Middle East -- where they'll be much happier, I'm sure.

JS - I live in Dearborn (all my life) and what has happened to my hometown is what is going to happen to much of our country. Whether it's the chronic law-breaking illegals from south of the border to the spread of muslims throughout our nation, it's happening faster and faster.
Again I say, nothing will change until we reduce the numbers of immigrants. These people are quite often NEVER going to assimilate into US society. They eat, sleep and drink sharia law and work daily to push that sharia is accepted in our schools, city services and laws.
Is there any difference to the illegal Mexicans who took down the US flag and raised the Mexican flag at a few schools and post offices back in the spring?
Some "immigrants" are not suitable to assimilate and it's also our govt.'s fault for not gently insisting that immigrants learn English and adopt to American values, customs, etc. Clinging to your culture, when it's a primitive, tribal one, is only going to create big problems in the near future. I see our nation breaking apart.

Unbelievable. Islamophobia has such an effect on brain that a country accused of severe human rights violations can pass for a defender of freedom against Islamic terrorism! This is the only thing I can deduce after seeing people say "go Ethiopia" like this country had a genuine intention of fighting terror and help the Somali people. An ethiopian official even said that "their boys were fighting international terrorists" or something like that. Man, this guy relly believes he is a black George Bush or something.
And we have the Islamophobe winguts saying how the ousting of the ICU was necessary because they imposed a mild form of sharia law and are accused of having ties with Al-Qaeda, the accusation coming from the same country who claimed Iraq had WMD! Of course, I don't believe the terrorists should be concerned a lot about Somalia: they are already based in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and, thanks to the US' incapacity, in Iraq.
The same wingnuts who are so scandalized by the ICU sharia law forget, or don't care, about how the situation was before the courts took over, with warloord troops fighting, looting, extorting, and raping completely unmolested; But for the Islamophobe wingnuts, all of this pales in comparison to the horrible opression that represents inciting women to veil, and prohibiting drugs and soccer matches!

First, a little note to CGW:
You, sir, are an Islamophobic Christofacist and are in serious need of an attitude adjustment. Luckily for you, Minnesota taxpayers provide manditory treatment for all offenders like yourself. Report immediately to your nearest mosque for therapy.
Now for other matters. Firstly, several people have asked how our Somali brothers and sisters ended up in Minnesota. The answer is that they were sponsored by the Catholic and Lutheran churches, who even sent representatives to Africa to recruit immigrants. As an aside, we might note that HIV-positive individuals were explicitly encouraged to come here and the usual health regulations were suspended by the State Department.
Secondly, large parts of South Minneapolis have officially been declared no-go areas for infidels. Said infidels are openly accosted, beaten and robbed, most often right after evening prayers. Other parts of Minneapolis are also infested, as are the suburbs of Eden Prarie and Eagan and the city of Mankato.
Thirdly, Sheik Elison was elected primarily by white Christians and Jews. In fact, although Elisons Republican opponent was Jewish, most Jews voted for Sheik Elison.
Strange as it may seem, I think that our only hope is more Mexican immigration into Minneapolis. Mexicans won't bow down to the Muslim savages and said savages have learned not to mess with Mexican women. Those women's male kin are willing to defend them.

I'm living in Canada (Alberta). I've also seen Somali immigrants brought into rural Alberta to work in the meat-packing plants -- the Mennonites and other groups did this (I suspect some of these groups are basically antisemitic -- that's what I suspect -- France did the same thing -- allowed in loads and loads of Muslim immigrants). Certain areas of Toronto and other major Canadian cities also tend to look like downtown Cairo. I think we've been invaded.
Canada also needs to curtail its open-door immigration policies. Britain is also facing huge problems (there's an interesting, non partisan, website www.migrationwatchuk.org which monitors the immigration situation in Britain -- apparently, 800 immigrants arrive each day -- that's not including the illegals. This problem seems to be affecting many, many countries. I prefer the non-partisan sites -- whenever immigration policy talk is mentioned, invariably, the die-hard fascists or ultra right-wing neo nazis come crawling out of their holes...this is extremely unfortunate. But, I guess the ultra right just have to be ignored and the less radical opponents of laissez-faire immigration policy need to speak up!

JS - sorry I assumed you were an American but since I live close to Canada and have a knowledge of it, I'm aware of the immigration invasion going on in your country too. And I'm aware that England, France and a few other European countries may be gone in a decade or so. Europe may become an Islamic base of operations against the US and Canada. Sound crazy? It does even to me on the one hand but on the other....
No one, least of all me, is against all immigration but I think most of us simply want a reduction in the numbers of legal immigrants; a concerted effort to combat the illegal variety and a stressing that immigrants need to be willing to adapt to their "host country's" language, customs, culture, etc. If they're not willing, they shouldn't come. That's not mean, that's fair and common sensed.
Muslim immigrants are increasingly fundamentalist and that IS scary since that means they also tend to like Sharia law and they push for it through legal means in the school system and in townhall meetings.
And while it's true that there are some bigots on the far right, there are also a huge number of spineless "diversity obsessed" nuts on the far left who don't have the sense or backbone to have any respect for their own nation, culture, language, etc.
Where are our political leaders? Where is the media to promote an honest debate of these issues? They're both scared into silence.

It's my understanding that your relaxed immigration policy is the product of the French Quebecois in Parliament and that the western provinces have little to no say over federal policies since the power center is in Quebec and Ontario. Can you shed some light?
The view from south of the border is that many Canadians feel morally superior to violent and Islamophobic Americans and so relish their open door policy, regardless of (or is it because of?) the danger it poses to people of both countries.

This is insane. Somali Muslims are the worst immigrants we get. Their immigration must stop. They are by and large welfare bums and will never fit in here. European nations have also allowed these people to immigrate. So has Canada where I don't know how they take the cold. Their heating bills (paid by welfare properly) must be sky high.
In the USA they come as refugees thus immediately qualify for lots of welfare programs. I think the Congressional Black Caucus is behind their immigration. They pushed for it

The Federal government in Ottawa sets the overall immigration policies (there's a point system in place -- at one time any "visitor" to Canada was able to apply for status as an immigrant, that has changed -- now a person needs to apply for immigration from his or her home country.) Quebec has been allowed special arrangements (they want Francophones, not anglos, to immigrate to Quebec.)
Anyway Quebec received many Lebanese and Vietnamese, for example -- more so than the rest of Canada, since they speak French. Provinces can petition the Federal government for certain immigration policies (Alberta did this so as to have Somalis allowed to work in Alberta.)
But, yes, I do think Canadians (to generalize) do feel superior and pretty smug to the "islamophobic" Americans. I think it comes from a Canadian inferiority complex. The media (CBC) constantly proseltyzes on behalf of Islam and constantly condemns (demonizes) the United States. I don't know what it'll take to wake-up Canadians.

The Minneapolis area is the scarey secret of America's heartland. People talk of Detroit or Berkley, but no one seems to equate the 9 11 hijackers were in MINNESOTA.
You want the truth. Minneapolis is the liberal anti American sponge of the midwest. It is not just Muslims (which area elected an Islamic jihadist to Congress but Minneapolis), but if you talk to Minnesotans they will tell you about Mong moving in by hordes and buying up entire areas and forcing out white people. All of these protestors have just clearly marked themselves as enemies of the United States. If they want Sharia government in faraway Somalia, it is logically obvious that they also want it here for themselves and us as well. Their slogans of "Islam is the Solution" back this up. They should be immediately arrested, tried for conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States, and imprisoned as terrorist sympathizers or forcibly deported. Those who resist or try to return should be immediately shot without trial. Our country is now under siege. At this point, I would even be willing to follow Abraham Lincoln's example and accept suspension of Habeus Corpus in order to remove the muslims from our society. As to the fools of Minnesota who elected Keith Ellison, damn you all to hell you traitorous swine! I'd adives you to remember the fate of the American south the last time states betrayed the Union. Clitorodectomy is de facto legal in Minnesota, for Moslems. So is bigamy. And it's up to you, CGW, Norseman, and other Minnesotans to pay for all of this via MedicAID, AFDC, HUD Section 8, and so on.
There has not been a single bigamy or clitorodectomy prosectuion on Minnesota. Is that because it doesn't happen here, or because it's de facto legal here?
And, when bemoaning the Islamicization of Eden Prarie, don't forget Eagan. Both cities were blackmailed by the Feds with their own DOT money for road improvements into taking thousands of Somalis. Neither suburb has been the same since, albeit Eden Prarie does a better job of keeping them hidden.

All of those "people" should either be detained, interrogated and questioned and/or placed on a watch list as they certainly do not agree with the laws of the land they reside in.
I call it OUR COUNTRY because it is obviously not THEIR COUNTRY if they are protest everything the US stands for as a beacon of hope, peace and equality for all human beings.

The proclivity for violence always has an external impetus in the minds of the apologists. Though the methods and motivations of jihad are universal, regardless of the locality of the conflict, the search for "root causes" is never to extend to theological imperatives.

Senator Anderson drafted legislation for MN statute 609.2245 http://www.ndaa.org/pdf/ncpca_statute_female_genital_mutilation_06.pdf that classifies FGM as abuse, and provides for "health education" of proper medical supervision to new residents. I called her office to ask if this could be expanded to include manditory reporting by health care providers as with any other physical abuse.

I called her office to ask if this could be expanded to include manditory reporting by health care providers as with any other physical abuse.
After the flap inside the Mpls FD and Mpls PD, of course entirely unreported by the Red Star and local TV stations, clitorodectomies are now performed by medical doctors inside the medical arts buildings alongside Hennepin County Medical Center, North Hospital, and Abbott Northwestern in Mpls, and Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
In other words, the docs would be turning themselves in for a felony crime. That's what distinguishes this form of physical abuse, brought to our shores by our culturally diverse Moslem welfare recipients, and renders it undetectable.

Anotehr note, from Canada, I suspect that there is a huge number of illegal Muslims in Canada -- I also suspect that they migrate freely to the U.S.
I just read that the large number of Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan are also suspected Hezbollah supporters, and, "One of Hezbollah's largest headquarters is located in Toronto, Canada." (I have read that another one of the primary recruiters of Muslims into the U.S. was from Ford Motor Corp. -- due to Henry Ford's antisemitism.)
Anyway, I think if immigration policies are to be looked into, it needs to be done in a joint manner (that is, it cannot be just the U.S. restricting immigration -- this has to be a coordinated effort, otherwise the whole project fails.)

The people living here protesting are cowards that fled their own homeland because they could not stand up for their own rights and fight for what they wanted.
Now they enter a society in america where there are weaknesses in our system which allows them to take advantage of and impose their own customs and beliefs upon a seemingly willing america.
The way to counter this is with your votes and making a voice to be heard. Quit electing garbage politicians whom cater to these non citizens and instead look for candidates that share your true beliefs.

Yes, it makes the blood boil to see those miserable, treasonous jihad Somalis clumping together in Minneapolis to protest the defeat of America's enemies. Truly revolting.
However, don't let it ruin for you the fact that the Big Bad Jihadists in Somalia have had their Ollah-Lovin' butts kicked all this past week.
Of course nothing is completely finished and solved, it never is. The Islamists may yet recover in Somalia and make a comeback of sorts.

To Norseman - FINALLY - someone has said what I have been thinking for a long time! We should stop trying to prevent the Mexican invasion and let these people come! They are for the most part Christians, are freedom loving, hard working and tolerent. There is strength in numbers and we need more of this type here. If we leave them in Mexico, it is only a matter of time before the Inslamics go in on a large scale (my friend Mauricio from Matamoris tells me that they are already there) with lots of money and start improving their lives and demanding that they convert. There is nothing like a full belly to make someone a believer in anything,.

The current transition government is the same government who was unable to extend its authority over all of Somalia in the warlords rule. There are doubts as to whether it will keep its present authority when the Ethiopians are gone. Time will tell.

No, it began earlier than Reagan. Thru the 50's and most of the 60's, American immigration policy was pretty restrictive; total numbers were kept low, and quotas were in place for each country, based on the numbers from that country already in the U.S. That is, more immigrants were allowed from countries that had already contributed higher numbers of immigrants. For example, because there were large numbers of Americans of Italian descent, and few of Gabonese descent, more immigrants were allowed from Italy than from Gabon. This meant that immigration was overwhelmingly white European.
In the "civil rights" hysteria of the 60's, it was felt by the PC's of the time that this was racist, that it was one more part of Jim Crow bigotry, and that it presented a bad image of the U.S. to the "3rd World", at a time when we were competing with the Soviets to "win hearts and minds". So the laws were changed to equalize matters. "People of color" would have just as much opportunity to immigrate as white Euros. One of the major sponsors of the legislation was the wonderful Teddy Kennedy, who over the years has done so much for (or do I mean "to") this country. There were those who argued against the changes at the time, but critics were assured that the total numbers of immigrants would remain low, that it was simply a matter of a different mix of people.
For some years, the numbers did grow only slowly. But gradually, the loopholes allowing for preferential, and non-quota, immigration of immediate families, and then sponsored relatives were taken advantage of. You can see how this mushrooms: X arrives from Backwardistan to start a new life. He opens a store. After a couple of years, he brings over his wife and kids. A couple of years more, and they sponsor his brother and brother-in-law to come and help. Two years more, and they bring their families. Before long there is a whole clan of uncles, cousins, and in-laws in the country.
By the late-70's (still pre-Reagan) large numbers of 3rd-world immigrants were already here. During the Iranian embassy seizure, there were already enough Iranians here that they could provide demonstrators numbering in the thousands to protest whenever the gov't suggested getting tough with Iran.
Since then, matters have only gotten worse.
As a side note, I remember, in the 50's and 60's, every January there were public-service notices in the newspapers and on TV that all aliens had to report their current addresses to the immigration authorities. So not only did we let fewer in, but we kept better tabs on them once they were here. It's been mamy,many years since I've seen those January notices, but whether they got rid of them as part of the immigration-law changes, or separately, I don't know. A bad move, either way.
