Iran website heralding 'Mahdi' by springtime

And then the fun will begin. From WorldNetDaily.com, with thanks to Davida:

An official state media website in Iran has posted a message heralding the coming of the Shiite messianic figure, Imam Mahdi, noting he could arrive by the spring equinox.

"Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca," the message says.

The Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasting website said in a program called "The World toward Illumination," that the Mahdi will form an army to defeat the enemies of Islam in a series of apocalyptic battles, in which the Mahdi will overcome his archvillain in Jerusalem.

The Mahdi's far sightedness and firmness in the face of mischievous elements will strike awe. After his uprising from Mecca all of Arabia will be submit to him and then other parts of the world as he marches upon Iraq and established his seat of global government in the city of Kufa.

Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors. At this time God will facilitate things for him and lands will come under his control one after the other. ...

After his appearance the Imam would remain in Mecca for some time, and then go to Medina. ... a descendant of the Prophet's archenemy Abu Sofyan will seize Syria and attack Iraq and the Hejaz with the ferocity of a beast ... finally Imam Mahdi sends troops who kill the Sofyani in Beit ol-Moqaddas (Jerusalem), the Islamic holy city in Palestine that is currently under occupation of the Zionists.

The Iranian series also claims the Mahdi will reappear on Earth with Jesus: "We read in the book Tazkarat ol-Olia, 'the Mahdi will come with Jesus son of Mary accompanying him.' ... Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant in the struggle against oppression and establishment of justice in the world. Jesus had himself given the tidings of the coming of God's last messenger and will see Mohammad's ideals materialize in the time of the Mahdi."

The Mahdi WILL return. He will take the form of a Nuclear Bomb and his first stop will be Israel followed by Visits to America England, and every other country that has allegedly " Humiliated "
the peaceful and Tolerant Muslim people.

and then the Wests answer to said Mahdi will make appearances above all the cities of the middle east and we will be rid of the Pestilence known as Islam forever!

Sound far fetched?

Posted by: Concerned Canadian [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 6:40 PM

Ironically the time they predict that the Mahdi will return is suspiciously about the same Time Iran plans to have national celebrations to commemorate it's rise to a Full nuclear power.

curious.

Posted by: Concerned Canadian [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 6:41 PM

WONDERFUL!!!! This is wonderful in let this be just like Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal. Islam has now stated the mahdi will return this spring, so the challenge is he better come or all of Islam must switch to Christian Peace as their religion will be proven a lie or all Christians will switch to Islam if he does come.
Come on Pope Ben, Franklin Graham and company let us make Islam put the mahdi where their mouth is.

Remember, these are the people we're going to apply sanctions on to prevent them from getting nuclear weapons.

'the Mahdi will come with Jesus son of Mary accompanying him.' ... Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant

This fairy tale conveniently puts a Jew (Jesus) in a position (lieutenant) to carry out the Mahdi's commands. If World Islamic domination goes poorly, the Mahdi can still (and forever) "blame it on the Jews".

This hidden Imam hokum is as real as the world ending in December 2012 according to the Mayan calendar. 2012 has taken a serious debunking among people who are interested in the Mayan calendar. I recommend Apocalypto. The full blown pagan savagery has parallels with today's Islam

If the Mahdi isn't back by the spring equinox, I suggest a couple sticks of dynamite down that well he's hiding in. Blast em out!!!

Or to make things more interesting, a truck load of concrete, so his deluded followers can watch him burrow his way out.

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 7:41 PM

What is troubling though is that some analysts are worried that Ahmadinejad actually sees himself as the trigger that will set the stage for the end of the world.

Posted by: Joseph [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 7:41 PM

Unbelievably precise timing. The Iranians are so sophisticated with their calculations. If the Mahdi comes, will I no longer have to pay taxes?

Posted by: Mere Dhimmi [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2006 7:45 PM

As Saddam was being hung, the voices of several of those present in the room were heard crying out. They didn't cry out "a bicameral legislature!" They didn't cry out "checks and balances, for god's sake let us have checks and balances." They didn't cry out "we want a government of limited powers." No, they cried out "Moqtada al-Sadr, Moqtada al-Sadr."

Amurath an Amurath succeeds.

And will, until it is realized that people suffused with the tenets and attitudes of Islam are not interested in Western parliamentary democracy, guarantess of the rights of minorities and especially of the individual, and the Spirit of Liberty defiined by Learned Hand as the spirit that is "not quite sure that it is right." Try to imagine a Muslim Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Madison, James Wilson, Clay or Webster or Calhoun or John Randolph of Roanoke, Lincoln, or for that matter a Muslim John Marshall, a Muslim Oliver Wendell Holmes, a Muslim Louis Brandeis, a Muslim Oliver Wendell Holmes. You can't. And you know why.

And unless, and until, the Camp of Infidels understands that it must not only understand, but make its constant theme, the connection between those assorted amuraths and the politico-religio-legal system of Islam, that refuses to locate legitimacy in the will of mere mortals, all of them rightfully slaves of Allah, and that urges submission to the ruler, no matter how despotic, as long as he is declared to be a Muslim, and the connection between the inshallah-fatalism of Islam and the economic backwardness, despite the OPEC trillions, of Muslim lands, where the only real economies are found, in some form, in those countries where Islam has been constrained (as in Turkey, or Tunisia). And the connection between the social failures, the moral failures, the intellectual failures, of Muslim societies must be connected to the doctrines, the teachings, the attitudes, the atmospherics of Islam. The case for such a connection is overwhelming. It will not be easy to deny it, and at the very least, the world's Infidels will see that connection, and so will the most advanced people born into Islam. It will put Islam permanently on the defensive, among its own adherents, who will indeed begin to wonder why their countries have a series of despots succeeded by other despots, why their countries are so naturally violent in their politics, why they are, despite such oil revenues, unable or unwilling to create advanced economies, why their societies, so hostile to non-Muslims and to women, will remain estranged from the rest of the world, as that world passes them by, and why the habit of mental submission encouraged by Islam will always prevent them from the enterprise of science, or from all else that requires the encouragement, and not the punishment, of free and skeptical inquiry.

Mahdi this, and Mahdi that. The re-primitivization of the world proceeds, proceeds because the advanced peoples do not appreciate their own achieved advancement. The uncivilized are inheriting, because the civilized are ungrateful and ignorant, civilization -- and they will undo it. They already are.

The twelfth imam sounds to me to be the anti-Christ...after all, we ARE dealing with a false religion. I mean, if Jesus were to come after this mahdi, it would prolly be to defeat him and usher in the new Kingdom. So I say bring him on! Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!!

Coverage of and comment on apocalyptic prophesies originating with the Iranian leader invariably falls in two categories, either "he's a raving loony," or attempting to fit such prophesy within a Christian eschatological framework.

While all this is certainly entertaining, I admit to feeling a little frustrated with the lack of analysis (at least I haven't seen any, it may well exist) of the political reasoning - I think we can exclude clinical sanity as the sole driving force of an aspiring nuclear power - that motivates this endless stream of bizarre statements.

So what is this all about?

An attempt to have the Muslim world rally behind Iran in a final battle including nuclear weapons (and shedding old Shia/Sunni divisions)?

Or possibly this scenario, but with a genuine belief that it will precipitate fulfilment of prophesy?

An attempt to wage psychological warfare against the West by having it puzzle over Iran's intentions?

What real-world political game is being played by the Iranians? Anybody?

Then the real Jesus comes in power and glory and the curtain falls.

"And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand"

Thank God, the Mahdi is coming, finally. I was worried that Islam would be discovered as a blood cult. Its practitioners would abandon it, world peace would break out and Robert would have no material for anymore books. Thankfully now we can continue our clash of civilizations, Robert can write more bestsellers. Hugh and his arch nemesis (I will not mention names) can trade barbs that I need a dictionary to help keep score and translate. Our beloved blogs will never run out of Muslim acting bad stories. The business of global Jihad will continue and all our defense industries will continue to both make money and discover even more technological wonders to crush Islam’s seventh century warriors. @007 is going to be a great year. Happy New Year everyone.

What real-world political game is being played by the Iranians? Anybody?

Anti-uffe:

The best I can come up with is distraction. These predictions are made and the West laughs them and their makers off. It allows us to feel intellectually superior and to believe that these nuts pose no great threat to us or our way of life. It also encourages the believers of this nonsense to keep up the fight so as to be worthy of the mahdi's favors. Notice it came right after Saddam was hung, when there might be a glimmer of hope for peace within Iraq.

The game is working all over the world. We ignore it at our own peril. We make a mistake by deriding Islam and its believers. They'll kill us if they have to, to make their words come true. Ahmadinejad himself said he was willing to have a nuclear fire ball over Tehran if it meant the Mahdi would come that much sooner. He'll do it.

One of the benefits of age is looking back at all the things that was supposed to kill me. War, Commies, Y2K (My all time favorite) A new Ice age followed quickly by Global warming, a giant meteor, Rampaging Muslims and last but not least a Mahdi. That one is new so let me break it down for you all.

The problem with little man syndrome is simple. You can flex your skinny arms and talk smack and be ignored. Once you start to inflict pain of the tolerant and extremely patient bigger man he will eventually get mad. At that point your delusions of supremacy meet reality. Iran’s Prophet president has started to inflict pain, at least on our nerves. 2007 might bring global peace but Iran might not be around to notice it.

Was this latest first published in Farsi or Arabic? If it was first published in English, it is probably propaganda.

"Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors." This will be easy, ten thousand is hardly a modern division. 1300 years ago that many men made up a huge army. When we must find a substitute energy source for oil the jihad’s will have run out of fuel (petrol dollars) and ultimately display their imagined superiorities in the dull dim unimaginativeness created by an ideology which can only produce intellectual, moral, cultural, and spiritual poverty, as all poverty spawns from hate. Perhaps Imam Mahdi would then join Wovoka in a ghost dance.

OK, here's the scenario: the Mahdi is already here on earth; his name is Sun Myung Moon, the Korean "Christian" cult leader. In March he will announce that islam and his teachings are really the same thing, and that he is the Mahdi. Note the name, Moon, is fitting for a prophet of the moon-god Allah. Also he already seems to regard Jesus as his lieutenant, which fits. And he has already begun a campaign to "tear down" the Cross, as a symbol that divides people, while in islam, the returned Jesus is supposed to "break" the Cross. "Tear down" seems more or less equivalent to "break". Also, his church is the "unification church." So let's hear it for Mahdi Moon. Maybe no quite what Prexy Ahminneedofajob is expecting, but beggars can't be choosers.
Then there's a related thread in several posts above: that an army of 10000 for the Mahdi doesn't seem like much. Ah, but they will be 10000 angels or jinn, each of which is worth a great many men. They already fought alongside Mohammed's forces, and helped them win a battle against great odds.

I once e-mailed a story I got from WorldNetDaily and the news was wrong. Now I have lost credibility with many contacts. I wrote to WND and explained the problem. They never replied. I wouldn't repeat anything from WorldNetDaily without due caution: i.e. two other sources.

Posted by: AbuNudnik [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 11:37 AM

Sure enough, I found that WND's only source for this tripe is the website of a lunatic who uses Marxist social critique mixed with Muslim supercessionism. This doesn't mean that Iran is not a serious threat (certainly more serious than much of the impotent heckling and sarcasm above deserves: they laughed at other tyrannies too), but it means that WND should only be quoted with extreme caution: they are sensationalists.

From the website where WND got its stuff, here's the first paragraph:

to procure the facilities needed in his life, is as old as history. In today's world, science and technology have helped human societies to achieve many of the amenities. But mankind has not yet been able to eliminate poverty and remove the unequal distribution of income in the society, because of the unjust world order imposed by the so-called big powers, which by monopolizing science and technology terrorize weaker nations and plunder their wealth and natural resources. The cold and calculating domineering powers impose on the weaker nations, the methods of production, consumption and technology that are to the benefit of capitalists. In the weird system of today’s powerful counties, moral and spiritual values have no place and are seen as undesirable liabilities that prevent these powers from reaching economic welfare and what they call true prosperity. However, the exploitation of the weak, the unjust system of distribution and denial of the rights of nations, will end with the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AS). In the government of the Imam man will witness real economic welfare throughout the world without any discrimination. The main issue in his global government is carrying out social justice and one of the main products of social justice is a highly developed economy that leads to the blossoming of moral and spiritual values as emphasized by the dynamic teachings of Islam. According to narrations, justice revives the dynamics of the shari’a or religious rulings. The Prophet’s 6th infallible successor, Imam Ja’far Sadeq (PBUH) says people will be needless when justice governs their life.

I've emphasized two areas: the first shows the author has no idea what science is, the second should be read and re-read as it contradicts all the phony Marxist concepts above and reveals the dark totalitarianism beneath. "The people will be needless" has a wonderful double meaning.

But what can we do about it?

Posted by: AbuNudnik [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2007 12:15 PM

From The World toward Illumination, which WND quoted:

There are various versions of the exact day of his [the Mahdi's] reappearance. Some say it would be Friday and the date will be Ashura or the 10th of Moharram, the heart-rending martyrdom anniversary of his illustrious ancestor, Imam Husain (AS). Others say the date will be the 25th of the month of Zil-Qa’dah and may coincide with the Spring Equinox or Nowrooz as the Iranians call.

So, as you can see, the website quoted (and who knows who the author is?) a couple of different opinions on the coming of the Mahdi and WND ignored that and chose the one.

Look, I'm not against trumping up a causus belli. All fighters do so. I agree with the Machiavellian point of view: if you don't invent a causus belli that puts your people in an advantageous position, you are immoral because you've betrayed your own. But WND isn't good enough: they are far too crude. There are real and really serious goings on. WND only muddies the water. Please avoid them.

"Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant in the struggle against oppression and establishment of justice in the world."

Now there's a situation that calls for fragging if I ever saw one, Lieutenant.

Fragging most often involved the killing of a commanding officer or a senior noncommissioned officer perceived as unpopular, harsh, or inept. If a C.O. was incompetent, fragging the officer was considered a means to the end of self preservation for the men serving under him.

Happy New Year to the folks at JW/DW

Here is the link to a very well written, free and downloadable book on this subject...

Here are a couple of thoughts regarding the mahdi.
The moslems aren't the only ones with folktales about a hidden avenger, waiting for the right moment to return and rescue his people. The British have Arthur, who is supposed to be sleeping under enchantment in the western hills, to return in Britain's hour of greatest need. Many have wondered why he didn't return during WWII. Now we know; Britain is now facing a much greater danger from the islamofascists than it ever did from the germanofascists. So I guess that Arthur and the Mahdi will return at about the same time, and duke it out.
Next, is this well of his the same as the Flimflam well near Mecca, that all the hadjis are supposed to stop and get a drink from during their pilgrimage? Don't know if I'd care to drink from a well that a mahdi has been hibernating in for 600 years.
