Two Iraqis and a Lebanese national -- all permanent residents of the US. Why the suspicious behavior, then? By Kelli Kennedy for AP:
MIAMI - Three men were caught trying to slip past a checkpoint in a cargo truck Sunday at the Port of Miami, said authorities, who increased security at the busy trade hub.
A port security officer became suspicious when the truck driver could not produce proper paperwork to enter the port about 8 a.m., Miami-Dade Police Detective Richard Williams said. The driver also indicated he was alone in the truck.
Officers searched the truck and found two men in the cab trying to hide, Williams said.
The three men — two Iraqis and one Lebanese national who are legal permanent U.S. residents — were taken into custody for questioning. They had not been arrested or charged by Sunday afternoon.
The men do not appear on any terrorist watch list, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Barbara Gonzalez.
A preliminary check of the truck showed its contents did not match the manifest, Gonzalez said. She declined to say what was in the truck, citing the investigation.
The Miami-Dade bomb squad moved the truck away from public areas of the port and X-rayed it.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security were also on scene. The port's cargo area was shut down all day Sunday.
"Of course we're on a heightened sense of security out here," Williams said.

Glad to know someone is actually checking, but what about all the inland waterways, which coincidentally, touch on all the areas like the Lake States where there seems to be the highest concentration of muslim population? Every bottleneck, every canal, needs to have the best scanners we have for detecting biological or radiation hazards, the same as every turnstile, airport, bridge or tunnel in the country, one which discreetly alerts authorities and photogrpahs the vehicle and occupants. At least with a nuclear device there is no question of threat assessment, but biological threats won't be detected until dispersed and people start getting ill/dying. Maybe this truck they apprehended was a "dry run" or a "diversion" and they need to figure out where the manifested payload they did have came from?

I do not believe the driver was legal. They said he was 20 years old and to drive on the a commercial vehicle on the interstate you have to be 21. hmmmm. Something sounds fishy to me.

Even if it's not fishy, it's fishy.

Looks like Miami is safe, just a false alarm. Nothing to worry about, no need to worry about truck drivers hiding people in the cab or who can not produce required paperwork. Look for Muslim outrage statements from Cair, Ellison and our beloved Nancy. They should all have something out in time for tomorrow’s morning news. Not one of them will say “Good Job Miami” the system worked and protected the port. They will not mention that small detail. They will demand reviews and accountability warn against profiling and never once mention this could have been a test of security or worse an actual attack. Nope, that will not even come up.

Great job at the port of Miami. They should be commended for doing their job well. I also wonder, though, how many more minutes it will be before CAIR files suit for discrimination. Oh, and once again, play the role of victims.

If it was a test of security (dry run) the port passed. We are going to be sick of profiling claims but the same thing would have happened if the driver looked like Larry the cable guy.

My two pence-worth:
They weren't doing a dummy run to drop something off (e.g. a bomb): they were doing a dummy (or maybe even actual) run to pick something up.
What?

I had not considered the possibility of them picking something up. Why not wait until it was delivered and not risk getting caught? I still go with dry run. The key to this entire mystery is the identities of the other two passengers. I don’t know any driver who carries friends along. If they were there legitimately, like to help unload, their story would be easy to checkout. The other mystery is the timing. If the driver was making a legitimate delivery why didn’t the company make a few calls when this story broke? Add this together with all the suspicious activity at our airports (active surveillance, theft of vehicles etc) and it stinks of organized probes of security.

LOL at you idiots. I live in Miami and the local channels here confirmed that it was a misunderstanding and that NOTHING suspicious has been found on the Iraqis. It was also reported that they're legal citizens BTW. Don't believe me? Read Here: (Miami Port Scare 'Comedy Of Errors') http://cbs11tv.com/national/topstories_story_007134850.html
This is sad because while this type of story is getting national coverage, there was a huge terror plot 3 and a half years ago which BARELY got any attention outside of Florida, the would-be terrorist's name was Dr. Robert Goldstein. He was caught with a staggering arsenal of weapons (nearly 40), including revolvers, a 50-caliber sniper rifle, and semi-automatic assault weapons, enough to outfit a platoon of commandos. There were armor-piercing rockets, 25,000 rounds of ammunition and homemade napalm. There was a stash of sizable library of how-to manuals and bomb making recipes, explosives, hand grenades, a five-gallon "gasoline bomb" with a timer attached, and a significant amount of homemade C4, a powerful plastic explosive. In all, there were more than two-dozen bombs. Authorities discovered a list of 50 local mosques and Islamic centers, along with what would come to be known as Goldstein's "mission template," an 11-point, three-page plan detailing the plans for his attack.

Wat_123,
Nice work. Even if you are right and this was all a misunderstanding that doesn’t explain the last 1400 years of Islamic history. Nor does it explain why this story upset you so much that you took time out of your busy day to attempt to discredit it and us. Your this driver was not a terrorist so no Muslim is a terrorist and this should have been on tv because this time there was no attack but one time at band camp this other guy was a terrorist so all of you are terrorists and he had ammo and he went to prison but he was going to attack 50 mosques in a row and not get caught and people would still be unaware and in the other mosques and it is ok because it was a hate crime but not terrorism and you people should all stop worrying about muslims. Wow, you sure convinced me with that argument. I think I will go out and hug an Imam.

U.S. urged to boost efforts to aid Iraqi refugees
By Alexandra Olson
The Associated Press
Article Last Updated: 12/07/2006 12:21:23 AM MST
New York - A refugee advocacy group called on the United States to take the lead in helping the estimated 100,000 Iraqis who flee their country's violence each month, warning Wednesday it was the fastest- growing refugee crisis in the world.
Is Sowdi Arabia financing the "refugee advocacy group"? How does one investigate the funding sources of such groups?

Wat_123,stupidity of the leftist liberals absolutely knows no ends........
Dr. Goldstein was doing what he thought was right in protecting his country from the cult of islam that wants to destroy you, America and Western Civilization.
the cult of islam intends on conquering the world and either converting you or murdering you and if you are homosexual you will just be murdered.
Wat_123, wake up and realize that your life is in utter peril..............
The US government will not wake up to this threat until nukes go off in Washington, DC.......
God bless America, Israel,England,Australia, Canada, Ethiopia, Darfur and keep us free.
The Texican.
God, Family, America and Freedom, the only choice at any cost.

Gee, I hope the guard who busted these "Brothers" doesn't get fired by his Emirate bosses at the port authority.
The story just says that the contents of the truck didn't match the manifest. Does the manifest say it's dried milk, but actually it was a nuclear device? Don't know. But the three "Brothers" were all legal residents, so it really doesn't matter.

Don't let go until you have patted him down a little! He might blow up on you. And I am not just making a bad pun!
However, Wat is right that they arrested that horrible Jew who wanted to terrorize Islamist. The Religion of Peace. Who gather weekly and preach love of their fellow man. And rape the women. But it is the love that counts! They love to see people blown up. They love to cut off their heads. They love to rape the young boys who bring them food and ammunition (but then stone the gays who would like to do this). They love to blow themselves up.
May the Peace of Allah fall on them.

No the manifest said Nuclear Bomb but instead they had powdered milk on board.. oh.. and what a *relief* these guys are all legal residents.
There are hundreds of thousands of Iraqis waiting to become "legal residents". Wow-wie!
Things are gonna get even more multi-cultural :-)

Wat 123,
One could care less if you were pitching snake oil or a cure for cancer, but to introduce yourself by initially calling all on the thread idiots, such a lost opportunity, tisk, tisk, see Emily Post's propaganda 101, sir/mam, please!

I think you're right on the $ with the trial run theory. Regrettably, when something does finally go off, it will probably be located in a container on a vessel just entering port.

I bet the driver who claimed to be alone and the two guys hiding in the back of the truck were saying their Muslim prayers, and that is the reason the racist guard stopped them, which was an insult to Islam and an offense to their dignity. [cue the uulations]. Illegal Manifest and Hiding Guys Jihad!

I'm with Duh'Swami on this, something is fishy. I'm betting the truck originated in the Miami area, and is a dry run for something, or a ploy for CAIR to grandstand.
Why is that, some may ask? Simple. If this truck came from outside the Miami area, it would have had to pass through a scalehouse. Anyone familliar with over the road knows the implications.
A 20 year old with no ID or legal CDL has NO business in an 80,000 pound vehicle with any passenger.

Something fishy going on here!!. It could be that they have something to bring out but were caught before they could pick it up.
Also, several of the largest cruise ships were in the port at the time. Could it be these two stowaways on the truck were to stowaway on one of the cruise ships,,, you recall there have been several incidents of mysterious illnesses on cruise ships lately.
I feel there are more questions than answers at this time.
Whenever Muslims are caught doing something out of the ordinary, something is amiss.
Infiltration, breaches of security, surveillance, dry runs, ... all parts of putting a plan together.
Lets be vigilant and pray we catch it in time, whatever "it" may be.

With today's "trace' of C4 I defintely think they need to inspect that truck and those individuals and their movements, but as others state, the government won't tell us if there is more to this. C4 does not come into natural contact with fire sprinklers, I don't care what anyone says.
The two Iraqis, even if with legal documents, may still have been sneaking in/out of the country so as not to raise suspicion, it would be a long ride to/from Dearborn in the back of a truck. They were up to no good I have no doubt.
Is there a special CAIR exemption for muslim drivers to be underage CDL holders? How do we end up with non-English speaking truck drivers in the first place?
