Thai Buddhist teacher dies after nearly 8 months in coma from Muslim mob attack

The Thai Jihad claims another killing. From The Associated Press, with thanks to Twostellas:

BANGKOK, Thailand: A Buddhist teacher who was savagely beaten by a mob of Muslim villagers in restive southern Thailand last year died Monday after spending almost eight months in a coma, her doctor said.

Juling Kamphongmoon, an elementary school art teacher, was clubbed May 19 by a village mob until her skull shattered after being taken hostage in her classroom in Narathiwat province.

The brutal beating shocked Thailand and became a glaring example of tensions between Buddhists and Muslims in the country's three restive southern provinces where more than 1,900 people have been killed since an Islamic separatist movement flared in January 2004....

Juling, along with another Buddhist teacher, was attacked and taken hostage by about 200 villagers angered by the arrest of two suspected Muslim rebels. The other teacher suffered injuries but survived the attack.

I am waiting for some muslim spokeman to say that these moderate muslims only meant to beat the teacher lightly but it was obvious that the teacher had provoked such a beating to her self.
sort of like their casual treatment of their own wayward women.

Koranimals for sure. What a savage bunch!!! I bet the beating accompanied by Allahu Akbars and Alhumdu Allahs. I have heard thousands of stories like this and it still shocks me everytime.

Yet another victim of US foreign policy (right?).

Being a teacher in a land of savages is about the most dangerous profession in the world. We need to make being a Muslim "holy" man just as dangerous-for they spout the insanity that causes things like this to happen.

Muslim thugs are an affront to all humanity.

Although my knowledge of Thai culture is limited to visits to restraunts. I have always found the people to be courteous, warm hearted and friendly.

The opposite is true of followers of the RoP.

Under normal circumstances, one would find this unbelievable; sadly, in areas with restive muslim populations, it is believable.

This is also instructive in showing the superiority of the West (to islamic societies). Can you imagine a group of thugs attacking a female elementary school teacher with clubs in the West? It is unimaginable. In islam, though, such thugs are given hearty approval by their community and they will even back up their behavior with the koran.

Jaling was beaten near to death after she has been held as hostage by female muslims, before the men were coming in.

I love the way the article refers to "tensions between Muslims and Buddhists.." - Isn't it amazing that whereever there are Muslims, there are "tensions" (read - attacks by the Muslims on the local non-Muslims, no matter who are what the non-Muslms are)??

I was recently at feel-good, "get to know our neighbors" charade where a Muslin spoke about how misunderstood Muslims were. Isn't it funny that there is no need to ever talk about how Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Christians, Pagans, Atheists, etc are "misunderstood" - only Muslims!

It is amazing how many people bury their heads in the sand over the obvious where Muslim oppression and aggresion are concerned...

What would happen if a mob of Christians or Jews Beat a Muslim to death, or set them on fire? would we have worldwide outrage and condemnation?

You bet, but when it's Muslims , these thousands of " Incidences " are just isolated and unrelated.

What Hypocrites we can be.

s_sgt7,

If you remember me and my story the other day, just look at this: eve_anne_gelical said,”…..It is unimaginable…”

I don’t blame eve_anne_gelical, but it is this kind of oblivion in America that rankles my heart.

I was barely 7 years old, when I saw a Muslim mob shattering an infidel’s head on the street, when I was on the way home from school, which only a week after that I ended in a Christian orphanage; it was from then on I drifted from one country to another until I turned 33. I still have recurring nightmare of the killing scenes when I sleep today; that’s one thing I hate the most about going to sleep at night.

Most Americans cannot imagine what it’s like, not having a country. “No country, no rights, no future, no hope.” --- Had Christ not live in me, I would not have bothered to hope at all; however, I am grateful He brought me here to America and gave me home.

Think: If Barbara Boxer as a leader had no clue, what hope is there for the rest?

Like sheep, we march to a slaughtering house.

Christ said that He is the shepherd, and we, His sheep, and warned: Beware of the wolf in the sheep clothing.

Why sheep?

Sheep are stupid.
Sheep are food for the wolf.

Yes, I have heard many of you said that I tell gloom and doom.

It’s free country; you have the right to bury you head in sand.

“Or the right to go to hell,” if you prefer.

Thai Buddhist like the British are very passive peaceloving people but once roused to action they are relentless as the Burmese discovered many times in the case of the Thais, and the Germans twice and the French forever plus the Dutch,Spanish and who ever else you want to name for the British. So God (and I use that name specifically excluding the arabic moon god allah, capitals deliberately excluded) help the Muslims in the south of Thailand even though the coup leader is a Thai Muslim General if the King turns against the Muslims all hell will let loose.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Realist, but the relentless Brits are a thing of the past. They used to be relentless, but that was over 60 years ago. Today, they oppose doing anything that might save our civilization. The letters I saw in the newspaper today about the execution of Saddam Hussein were almost enough to make me weep. Saddam came out as the hero whilst Bush and Blair were maligned. This is not the act of a virile civilization that wants to survive, but the last rites of one immersed in self guilt, which no longer gives a fig about its own future survival.

In another show of Allah's power, the brave Thai Muslim "freedom fighters" have successfully beaten an unarmed woman teacher to death. Allah is the Greatest!

And, in a "small minority of extremists" footnote, it was a mob that beat her to death, while no-one stood up and simply said "Stop".

s_sgt7, have a read of this link which reinforces my pessimism:

pessimism is not enough!

If I have you language ability, I would have gethered the masses to shake up Washington.

I am small in stature, and isn't convincing enough for big tall whites.

You, Robert Spencer and Hugh, you in particular.

Talk, talk, talk,

If I were you I would muster up a rebellion against the left.

The left in the past were considered the communists---Yes, the day they are socialists, and athiests minority who run you over.

All help will break lose, only if you lead a rebelion.

Speaking of Thailand, looks like a travel advisory has been issued following the New Years bombings in Bangkok. Funnily enough, it blames former PM Sinawatra for it - the idea of a Jihad here is not even considered.

Buddhists are fair game as is every other non/un-beleiver. Quran 8:39 Fight them untill all opposition ends and all submit to Allah...Who's next? Anyone not worshipping Allah is at risk...

s_sgt7, with respect, your comments about Thailand are ignorant and ill-informed. Thailand is a middle-income country and povery is not-rampant as you claim. In fact, Thailand is far wealthier than almost all of its South East Asian neighbours. People here enjoy a relatively high standard of living, especially compared to most Asian, African and South American countries. Furthermore, Thailand is not awash with Aids, as you claim; the country has made great strides in the last decade in dealing with this problem. Thais are naturally gracious, hospitable and warm people. As for the poppycock you spouted about parents selling their children, as if this was some widespread practice, I am at a loss at how to rebut such arrant nonsense. Of course Thai society is not perfect, but name me one society that is or ever will be.

But we all know that Thailand does have a serious problem with Islamist thugs committing atrocities on an almost daily basis in its southernmost provinces. And as someone who has lived in Thailand for years, it is mystifying to me why the BBC and other news organsisations are loathe to report this matter.

Posted by: The Northumbrian [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2007 9:49 PM

To The Northumbrian

Thank you for your clear statement about Thailand; despite their good intentions it is amazing sometimes how poorly informed posters and the editor is about what is going on here.

About BBC, if you do a search on their website for Juling Pongkunmul the teacher who was beaten to death by Muslim terrorists and who received extensive local and international coverage including Reuters, you will find nothing. Any article they do write about terrorism in the south always ends with a claim that Thailand is condemned by (unnamed) human rights groups for its “brutal” response to the violence. Basically, blamed for the terrorism. Never any condemnation of the terrorists, however.

You can almost never find anything on BBC that is negative to the propagation of Islam but incredible amounts of disparagement to other religions. BBC is truly an Islamic front group now.
