A second security scare in as many days. "Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Material at Port of Miami," from Fox News:
MIAMI — A suspicious device was found Monday at the Port of Miami, and later detonated, according to officials.
A bomb squad was on the scene; officers were seen donning explosive suits before the detonation occurred.
A spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police said the bomb squad located some sort of instrument that tested positive for C-4 — a type of plastic explosive, reported local FOX affiliate WSVN-TV.
[...]
WSVN is also reporting that flight restrictions have been placed over Port of Miami.
Update: Fox News reports the package appeared to contain sprinkler parts. Interestingly, however, it did test positive six times for C4. Six false positives would indicate a problem with the test; otherwise, we're left to wonder how much C4 was there, and where it is now.

The question is, will repeated scares and plots be sufficient for people to awaken to the ideological basis of the trouble, a pattern of thought and a guide to behavior that is part of Islam itself?
The actions are not mindless "terrorism" but have a purpose, as described in historic and respected texts.

This problem isn't going to 'go' away.Enormous cost of monitoring Mosques,Muslims & Security is bound to affect even the most booming Western Economy. Can America and the West afford Muslims?
Are they worth all the trouble they cause??
Would be so much easier & makes financial sense to replace Muslims with persecuted Christians and Non Muslims who really want to integrate and live peacefully in the West.

Auhhh....but who are the real terrorists here.
Those three guys yesturday, as it turns out, were not terrorists.
And again today, "Fox News reports the package appeared to contain sprinkler parts."
"Interestingly, however, it did test positive six times for C4."
uhh huhhh....sure it did.
Question: Who's doing the terrorism here, Al Quida or our own officials ?
Terror is terror......
"WSVN is also reporting that flight restrictions have been placed over Port of Miami."
Well yeah they don't want 150 news choppers crowding the skys.

Seems kind of odd that there would be two "false alarms" at the same port on consecutive days.
Another security probe by the ROP perhaps?
Nothing to see here folks, just move along.....

Well what did ya'll think? Elect dems, negotiate with Iran/Syria, give them Palestine and the Golan heights and they would magically start to behave?

......hmmmmmm, could the three Muslims in the truck have gone to the port of Miami terminal to pick up something???? I, and others, mentioned this previously.......
C4 is plastic and can be formed by hand to fit anything... exploding sprinkler heads would shread people to pieces.... the packages would simply be in the back of a van or pickup truck and driven in a crowded train station or tunnel or sporting event....One cell phone call and BOOOM! (Then the crybabies blame the government for not doing enough or for covering up ). The same crybabie who abhor wiretapping , surveillance, and profiling.

Very interesting, same location as yesterday's little "event". I would be very concerned as to how much surveillance was concentrated in other Port areas during TODAY'S little "event"? This sounds too coincidental to me... perhaps a little diversion, knowing that all eyes would be in this ONE area?

You can do the same thing, not as powerful but just as deadly with black powder and lead pipes.
Don’t take my word for it I learned it from former af guys. We have moved forward since then, http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/explosives.htm

Phone call from major stock holder of "fair and balanced Fox and friends" news" Saudi prince to Rupert Murdoch: "This has nothing to do with the 3 mid-east men found at the same place on Sunday. Got it! RM: But of course your highness. You can count on your most loyal and useful dhimmi.

Yes, Fox News, but did the package contain any C4? The two statements are not mutually exclusive. It can contain both. Saying it contains sprinkler parts is fascinating, but irrelevant.

Gramfan... from what I've read on this and other blogs, the push for an islamic state in Oz would be met immediately, and with much force. That dog won't hunt Down Under.

I spent a career in special ops Robert, and was certified in demolitions (amongst other things).
Very simply, if they detected c-4, when they exploded the package (and reports are that they exploded the package) that destroyed the C-4 that was in the package.. as regards sprinkler parts, probably the derived that information from the remains of the demolition. I would like to know how big the package was, (dimensions and weight), I wouldn't be surprised that C-4 was packed in sprinkler parts, I've seen it packed in to many things including bicycle frames (in Viet Nam), and I hear occassionally that bicycles and motorcycles are used as bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq.. all they are are giant pipe bombs.. load them up with c-4, you can even weld together pipes packed with C-4 (you can burn C-4, it burns fast, you can throw it at the wall, but don't step on burning C-4 or throw Burning C-4 at the wall, it takes heat AND shock to set it off, heat alone, shock alone won't do it.
Also packing innocuous material with the C-4 is an excellent way to disguise it if it is discovered or detonated...
I doubt if there were any false positives.

I suppose the answer is simply that Iraqis prefer to ride in the back of trucks instead of the cab? they need to know what port of calls those cruise ships had, Al Q cells are known to operate in central America, in fact any place a boat touches the shore seems to have Al Q activity. Those C4 traces came from somewhere, and if there is any advantage to not hold people hiding in teh back of trucks with no ID, it would simply be (I pray) to track their movements and associations from then on, such as planting a tracking device on the vehicle. But you see these vans and box trucks with out of state plates and no descriptive markings on the road everyday and you wonder if anyone does inspect non-CDL vehicle cargos? The other day I met a U-haul rental van and noticed a green oxygen cylinder strapped to the stretched metal guard behind the driver, a BIG haz mat violation. But it made me wonder if I called the company if they would have any way of knowing where their fleet is at any given time? In fifteen minutes their truck could have a new paint job and plates and be back on the road.

Nariz,
Since we are on the subject, the subject of pretenders in our midst, her ya go, take notice and try to conform.
No real American Military personnel would come out and state that they were in anything or based anywhere, period. We are trained to keep our mouths shut. So I know you are full of bull, as is ssa.

I'm just say'n, here we go again. The president is about to give (Wed.) his new plan for Iraq (terrorism) and is likley to tell us he's sending another 20,000 troops. The Dems. don't like that and are likely to give trouble. So here we go again with all the 'posible' terrorist event in our country, right in front of the presidents speech.
Port of Miami (I)
Port of Miami (II)
Poison gas (New Jersy)
There were a few others but I already forgot......

"The Dems. don't like that and are likely to give trouble"
I was watching the dolt Murtha give his speech, basically declaring defeat. I think he was trying to say "Please Mr Ayatollah, I am ready to convert." Mr Murtha stated we are doomed no matter how many troops are sent.
Mr Murtha (a former Marine, no less)has no faith in the military capabilites or his country. He fails to see that Islam is being set up.
Iraq is but a battlefield in world war...Much like Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Pelieu and other battlefields where Americans faces suicidal maniacs who killed tens of thousands of Marines. And much like the Japanese, the Iraqi terrorists will be overcome. US losses in five years are around 3000 which is remarkable considering the US forces are greatly restricted in returning fire.
The Islamic terrorists much like the Japanese intend to attack and conquer at all cost. The Japanese were insanely loyal to their Emperor, The Islamic terrorists are insanely loyal to Islam, Mo, Allah, Ayatollah, Mullah, Mufti, or whatever terrorist group they belong.
The outcome of the battle will be the same, the coalition forces will win.
The next battlefield appears to be Iran, Already Iran is surrounded. Israel appears ready to attack from the north. The US is already on the ground to the west in Iraq. There are carrier battle groups from the US, Germany, France, and Great Britain in the waters all around Iran. Carrier battle groups are always accompanied by submarines. Submarines are awesome weapons platforms. Turkey is on alert to the northeast.
To the east, Iran can expect no help from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, or Pakistan.
The little man in Iran is having a great deal of internal dissent and he may have little support from his own people once hostilities hit home. And hostilities in Iran are just around the corner.
The Dems have a tiger by the tail and have not a clue on what to do.

On Monday Mr. Shepard Smith; FOX News (the screaming on the interstate Katrina guy)
"I'm getting all kinds of e-mail from conspiracy theorists who are seeing a connection between Sunday's incident and todays. The truck incident was simply a mis-communication. Very likely in a multi-language community like Miami."
Then not five minutes later he says that the smell in NY was not answered sufficently by the authorities. We are New Yorkers, we saw the towers go down. If THEY can make a smell go all over NYC what else can THEY make go all over NYC?
Mr. Smith who are THEY?
Do I smell a little conspiracy theory here? (pun intended)

IN NYC they said the smell had the smell of gas. NYC residents remember the man who turned on the gas in his building , lit a match, and blew up the building --- just so he wife could not have it.
I would be concerned of an odor resembling gas.
I find it improbable that there is a smell in NYC that they cannot identify.

EricInTexas, there was a marked increase in bomb-sniffing dogs, their handlers, and cops armed to the teeth around here (NYC) yesterday.
Of course, half the day we had an intense smell of gas permeating most of Manhattan & some parts of Jersey yesterday, too. Nothing like having a little post-9/ll event with building PA messages urging folks to "not worry", and stay in their buildings. Still no source found; likely to be blamed on Meadowlands swamp gas. [Some say it was from the Giants & the Jets cleaning out their lockers at the Meadowlands.] Perhaps also a dry-run, checking to see how far something would disseminate?
