I find I still have much to learn (as The Looming Tower is teaching me), so here's a question: How much of this jihadist activity stems directly from the point in time (1990) in which the islamists took over Sudan?

What goes through Dhimmi of the Year Internationale-winning Jacque Chirac when he is presented with information like this. Does DOING THE RIGHT THING ever even occur to him, or does appeasing just come like a knee-jerk reaction whenever he hears the "LAAAAA-LAAAAA-LAAAAA-LAAAA..." squeals of a jihadi?

If you think you "have much to learn" then reading Lawrence Wright's "The Looming Tower," which avoids so much of Islam, and all of Islamic history, is not the book that will "teach" you.

As for the question: the Jihad is a permanent duty. It never went away. When the Muslim world was obvioiusly weak, then Jihad against the Infidels was simply not possible. But OPEC trillions, and Muslim-migrant millions, and Muslim exploitation of Western advancements in technology, made it possible for the Jihad to become a living force and inspiration again. Furthermore, the main Jihad is not violent, but uses the "money weapon," "pen, speech" (i.e., propaganda), Da'wa (the Hizb ut Tahrir missionaries and others), and,the most important of all, demographic conquest, which is unchecked because, for the Western world, any limits on a particular population, or expulsion of that population, is deemed beyo9nd the pale for the Western world, though it was always used in the past -- even in the recent past (see the Benes Decree of 1946, by which the government of Czechoslovakia expelled the ethnic Germans who had identified with, and been used by, Hitler and Nazi Germany).

The French government is responsible for the murder and rape of thousands of citizens due to allowing all these muslim terrorists in the nation.
I would like to see the army with the French Foreign Legion throw a military coup and oust the useless government that is slowly destroying the nation.
The Legion would know very well what to do with rioters, rapists, and arsonists.
They would skin them alive and burn them.
This is what the surrender policies of Paris get them is more murder, more threats, and more harrassment from the muslim world.
I dont blame the people...only the alleged leadership.
They need to vote in a group who will cleanse ALL of France from every single muslim and throw them out to the middle east.
France for the REAL French and Europeans.....not immigrants who run to France and claim to be French in name only.

Muslims living in France or born in France do not make them French, it makes them an invader.

PS. It would be very wise of the government to triple at the minimum the current size of the Legion. Those guys walking any street would be the safest street on the planet.

Hugh~ I couldn't begin to touch your level of knowledge re: islam at this point. However this book Has filled in gaps in what I knew of the situation. One thing in particular was the concept of takfir. It seems fairly evident to me that this idea has become prevalent among the various jihadist groups, no matter what their original stance on islam was. When people argue that the islamofascists are just 'a tiny minority of extremists,' it seems to me that one can point out how this pernicious thinking, and all the arguments behind it, is spreading to muslims everywhere. It might have a Long way to go among the general muslim populace... but it does seem to be taking hold.

I think there Are moderates. But I suspect they are more and more becoming the 'tiny minority.'

Still, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat has millions of willing recruits in France - up to 6.5 million of them - or around 11% of the French population. France's chickens are coming home to roost big time. And at the end of the day, there'll be a massive insurgency to crush within France itself, but unfortunately for now at least, the French don't have the cojones to do anything about it. They've passively tolerated the burning of their cars, the raping of their women, the Balkanization of their streets and the terrorising of their public transport and expended their ire, not on the perpetrators of all of these things, but on the US, Israel and their own Jewish population. They'd rather spend half their lives on strike than clear up their own backyard. But they are now reaping what they've sown over the last 45 years or so. And THIS has become the eventuality of what our grandfathers risked all for in 1944/45.
