David Hicks is yet another convert to Islam who misunderstood his new religion as teaching violence against the unbelievers, and joined the jihad. "Hicks 'took orders from bin Laden,'" from AAP, with thanks to Fjordman:
DAVID Hicks, who has today spent five years in detention at Guantanamo Bay, was a fully fledged al-Qaeda operative who took orders from Osama bin Laden, US prosecutors say.Colonel Morris Davis, chief prosecutor for the US Office of Military Commissions, has dismissed any notion of Hicks as a young and naive adventurer.
“David Hicks attended basic training, the al-Qaeda basic training, (and) went back for repeated advance courses in terrorism,” Colonel Davis told Fairfax.
“He knew and associated with a number of al-Qaeda senior leadership. He conducted surveillance on the US embassy and other embassies.
“He eventually left Afghanistan and it's my understanding was heading back to Australia when 9/11 happened.
“When he heard about 9/11, he said it was a good thing (and) he went back to the battlefield, back to Afghanistan, and reported in to the senior leadership of al-Qaeda and basically said, 'I'm David Hicks and I'm reporting for duty'.”

That act or "reporting for duty" is enough to earn him a rope, IMHO, but please let no one humiliate him or violate his "constitutional rights" in prison, oh no!

Hicks, or 'Mohammed Daoud', the name he chose after his conversion- is a traitor to his country and his people, he is an insult to our culture & civilization, a PoS in human form and the only choice he should ever have is between a rope and a bullet.

How about David Hicks taking a side order from Saddam Hussein's hanging as his next duty assignment. These psychotics will never be changed no more than pedophiles will as Muhammed was in marrying a 6 year old girl.

My only fear is that if he is ever freed he will sue the OZ and US governments, get a book and movie deal, and appear on Oprah who will no doubt fawn all over him, like she did with a would-be pally female suicide bomber that the Israelis intercepted and thus saved her life!

It remains, I suspect, a real struggle for many Australians to accept that someone who looks like them, speaks like them and (presumably) thinks like them could end up wasting away in a US military prison on charges amounting to full-blooded treason. I would have been amongst the naive majority, even to this day, had I not learned that we must never judge a book by its cover... especially in times of war, especially if the title of that cover spells Qu'ran.
I have no doubt about Hicks' full knowledge of and complicity with the 'philosophy' of al Quaeda and its practical applications in the real world. He would have been seen as a real asset in Australian-ising the Muslim assault on this big brown land of ours. The alternative to Hicks is Hilali, or Hicks' dear old dad, who either did not know his son at all or follows in Hilali's footsteps by lying through his teeth.
Australians are waking up, but more clarification is needed, that shows clearly the true nature of taquiya, the real intent of Islam wherever it might be found and the true character of those who choose to follow the orders of men who, like bin Laden and Arafat and Husseini and Nasrallah and Ellison, would see the crescent moon ride proudly over the great symbols of freedom wherever they may be found.
