Trying to show who's boss. From AFP, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
TEHRAN, Jan 13, 2007 (AFP) - Iran called on Iraq to work to release five Iranian officials arrested by US forces in Iraq and stop American “adventurism” in the war-ravaged country, the IRNA agency reported Saturday.“America’s illegal and adventurist acts should stop in Iraq,” Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucheher Mottaki told his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari in a telephone conversation, the agency said.
“These acts contradict the Vienna Convention (on diplomatic relations) and they are an obvious intervention in the brotherly relations between the two countries,” he added.
“Considering the Iraqi government’s responsibilty in this matter, we demand that (they) seriously seek to release the Iranian consulate members in Arbil.”
Six Iranians were arrested in a night-time swoop by US forces on an office in the northern Iraq city of Arbil Thursday, one of whom has since been released.

I believe that changing the rules of engagement for our military should very well cover extraction of covert agents on the battlefield. On the other hand, if we continue to fight this war in a politically correct manner, we are abusing our soldiers trust in our political leadership.

This all happened in the Kurd controlled region. Aren't the Kurds the ones who really really really like Americans?

Funny that the Iranian regime should lecture USA on the Vienna convention. We have yet to pay back these savages for what they did to our diplomats. It's been too long already.

You know, in the old days, America would have never tolerated the crap we get from creeps like Hugo Chavez and the Iranian midgit. If we still had MEN (not the walking, empty suits we have now) like Teddy Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson in charge, we would have bulldozed their countries to the ground for the insults to our honor alone.

OOOOOH! We so sorry you bunch of insipid roaches, the US didn't mean to catch your spies. Here take them back in little persian pieces.
The US needs to wake up and smell the coffe their heir to the throne in Bahgdad (Al Maliki) has already been co-opted by the iranians and the syrians. Afterall, he is a Shia and they have no allegiance but to the Mahdi on whose return they wait with baited breath. The US needs to start knocking out some teeth and fast or else the whole thing is going to explode literally. The only way to deal with muslims, and it has been proven so for 1400 years, is to rule with an iron fist up their asses...cuz they only understand strength...dialogue is weakness...democracy is weakness..moderation is a utopic ideal that does not exist in islam. C'mon, take out the bad guys with EXTREME PREJUDICE and read the riot act to the survivors you either behave or we will come back and if we do...Iraq will become the next state to the join the union. End of story...take off the gloves and they become sheep.
By the way the last time I heard the word "brotherly relations" Syrian secret service agents were carting off dozens of young lebanese university students to immediate and undeterminable periods of detention in rat infested jails in Syria. Get off it sickos...your time is nigh and all the rubles you spent on those fancy russian built waepons will not protect you against the comming vengeance. Go hob nob with the generalisimo in Venezuela it wont last long.
CAN ANYONE SAY CRUISE MISSLE!!! One for the midgit in Iran and one for the goose necked cunt in Damascus.

What in the world is Iran doing, claiming wrongs done to it's 6 arrested "diplomats", by citing the Vienna Convention (on diplomatic relations)?
Isn't that a document composed by the Infidels? So why cite it? Wouldn't it be more in keeping with their Koran, referring to it, instead? Can you smell the duality and the hypocracy? Not surprising, however. But I agree with so many posters above that America would be so wise to remind the Iranian leadership of the 53 American diplomats held for 444 days, back in 1979-81.
Unreported in the AFP story though, was Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucheher Mottaki's probable closing remarks to his Iraqi counterpart, specifically, "Hurry and get the release of our Revolutionary Guard diplomats, before they rat on the locales and the strength of their other Iranian fighters there in your country...."

We wonder WHO is going to stop Iran and ITS 'adventurism' around the globe???? And when???
Here once again we can see the Islamic double standard in all its lunacy. War is just dandy when spreading Islam across the globe (remember Islam divides the world into two halves--the House of allah and the House of War). But as far as protecting human lives and liberty goes--you can forget it (and, apparently, stay home)!!
And this has been going on for almost two tbousand years.
I just love a good adventure!!!!!!

Since when are the iranians so worried about the vienna convention. They had no problem ignoring that convention when they held the us embassy staffers for 400+days 1979-1980.

I hope the United States has noticed the Iranians are very disturbed by having Iranian agents arrested.
So arrest most of the UN "diplomats" from Iran and wherever else you can find them. Lure out some of Ahmadinejad's wacko family members and arrest them too and then tell Iran you get your criminals back when United States, British Saudi and Turkish nuclear inspectors take home your nuclear material, when Israel stops getting bombed and you have an acceptable government not run by Turban heads or the criminals sit it out in Gitmo till Jesus returns.

I guess I would have replied to Iran: "WHAT spies? They must have been kidknapped, a lot of that going on these days....." Does this mean Iraq isn't big enough for US AND Iranian forces? Hmmmmmm I wonder what we can do about that? On the other hand Hillary is on the way to rescue the Iranians, maybe to really foul things up they could bring Jimmy Carter along too?

What are the Iranians getting so upset about. President Bush told them they weren't welcome in Iraq. What part of not welcome did they not understand?
