Taliban Leader Is Hiding and Being Protected in Pakistan, Says Spokesman

Wouldn't be surprising, if true. By Maddy Sauer and Gretchen Peters at ABC's The Blotter (thanks to James):

Fugitive Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar is alive and well and living in Pakistan under the protection of the Pakistan intelligence agency, according to the captured spokesman for the Taliban, Mohammad Hanif.

Hanif was captured in Afghanistan yesterday, and today the Afghan government released video footage of him in which he claims to know the location of Omar.

"He is living in Quetta," says Hanif, "and the ISI [Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Agency] is protecting him."

While Pakistani officials dismiss this statement, the information coincides with secret U.S. military documents obtained by ABC News earlier this year. The documents were part of a U.S. targeting assessment produced in January 2005 and, incredibly, were bought at an Afghanistan street bazaar, just a few hundred feet from the front gate of the U.S. air base in Bagram.

I'm sure glad Pakistan's on our side-NOT!

Amazing what passes for news these days. Anyone on Jihadwatch could have told you so. Osama is there too in all likelyhood. If the old bugger hasn't kicked it yet due to natural causes.

You mean Pakistan's ISI - the primary sponsor of state terrorism in the region - is hand in ankle with the jihadis?

*phew* who would have thought it .. you learn something new everyday ...

SECRET US MILITARY DOCUMENTs bought by reporters at a bazaar!!!! Now just who in the possession of such documents sold or gave them to street merchants!!..

....No wonder the taliban and others slip away so easily (like magic),...they have the secret attack plans before the US troops get them!!!!

..OK , from now on, only American military personnell can see SECRET US MILITARY DOCUMENTS. Just tell our Pakistani "allies" to stand on the sidelines.....WE can attack the terrorists much more easily if they don't know we are coming......

AND THEY WON'T SLIP AWAY....

Hey,
What do you all want, everywhere I go they are talking about the latest episode of 24. I personally get enough of that in real life so I will not be watching that sort of thing for entertainment. Its all old news here, yet they believe this is just another Bush scare tactic. When the bomb goes off the cleanup will begin. In the meantime hunker down, post your thoughts… and wait.

The 2 sided coin of Pak Intel. One side helps and the other side murders. What needs to be examined is why is this crank making it public?
Make a public split between Pakistan and America? Even monkeys bark for a reason.

The worse part is this is hotel al Qaeda and brothel Taliban from China to Pakistan to Afghanistan.

The worst part is our special ops sniper corp has not been tuning these terrorists up with a lead symphony and just melting back like the ghosts they are into the night.

The script is so familiar when it comes to pakistan.

Every muslim terrorist in world is ususally in sanctuary in Pakistan.

And every statement from pakistan says we are fighting terorism and we have no terroist holed up here. Even they very well know every terorist is there but wont turn jim to the world and help in peace.

But surprisingly Indian authorities have said for years most of its criminals find safe haven in Pakistan with ISI. No one seemde to belive it.

Now atleast world will take notice of double standards of pakistan and ISI.

I'm sure we'll get Mullah Omar in due time like we got Ramzi Bin Alshibh and Khalid Sheik Mohammed. Last night we captured a major Taliban figure, and that will be hitting the news.

the main question is, who is in control, is Pakistan keeping him, or is he keeping Pakistan?

Posted by: Catawhumpus [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 17, 2007 4:18 PM

At least we (the US) are keeping our enemies* closer to us than our friends**.

I began to believe it when I heard more than a few British cursing the Pakis under their breath.. a little more openly after a few pints.. but never heard any complaints about Indians.

So I figured they're not at all racist. It's that the Paks behave in England the way the Turks behave in Germany.

Brits have every right to complain about the Paks.

What the Paks and Turks have in common is islam. What the Indians have in common with Brits and Germans and most other normal people is that they are NOT of islam. They -like us - are its victims.

I wonder if our American cousins would be kind enough to lend us some heavy bombers. I feel a Dresden moment coming on.

To win this " War on Terror " thing, at some point we will have to take out Pakistan. For there will never be peace in Afghanistan with those nuts acting as double agents for the global jihad.

The same is true in Iraq in relation to Iran. Playing to win means taking out Pakistan & Iran with democratic , secular state regime changes.

The democratic revolution of the Secular State is what will roll up and defeat the terrorist states, not the democratic revolution of the Islamic State ( an oxymoron being carried out to absurd extents of futility by the White House at a cost of billions of dollars, thousands of American deaths and tens of thousands of crippling injuries. )

No matter how much you put into it a " just, modern, democratic Islamic State will never be perfected and manifest it's self. The Islamic States , hot beds of terrorism, will only falter, fall and hopefully evolve into Secular States formed by rational minds rising from the ruble of the Islamic culture of hatred, bigotry and terrorism.

The human spirit will always aspire to something higher.
