It's good news that Boxer didn't give in to pressure from CAIR. It would be even better news if she continued to pursue what she has begun to learn about the group. "Boxer, Muslim group say skirmish resolved," from Associated Press:
WASHINGTON - Sen. Barbara Boxer and officials from a Muslim advocacy group said Wednesday they have resolved to move forward on improving interfaith relations after smoothing over a skirmish about an honor rescinded by her office.
“I’m putting it all behind me, and we’re moving ahead to work with the civil rights community to better relations among people of all faiths,” Boxer said in an interview.
But a spokeswoman for the California Democrat said she does not intend to give back the certificate honoring Basim Elkarra, executive director of the Sacramento chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The senator also said the concerns prompting her to rescind his service award this month haven’t changed.
At the time, Boxer and her staff cited concerns about CAIR’s positions on terrorist groups, contending that CAIR had refused to label Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. Boxer had been criticized on conservative Web sites for giving the award to Elkarra; she said she did not know her office had done so.
CAIR officials met with Boxer and her staff Tuesday.
“We have addressed the issues related to this unfortunate and unnecessary incident, and have agreed with Senator Boxer that we should all move forward to build a nation in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance,” CAIR said in a statement.
CAIR-Los Angeles Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said the group condemns all acts of terrorism.
But apparently not terrorist -- more accurately, jihadist -- groups like Hizballah and Hamas, which is why the award was rescinded.

Yes indeed, CAIR being presented with any type of civic award for "outstanding service" is no doubt an unfortunate and unnecessary incident.
The CAIR clowns should stop flattering themselves.....Our nation, a democratic republic, has already been built...and they can claim no credit for its success.

I've never been a fan of Barbara Boxer but I must say I admire her stand against CAIR.Pres Bush and others in government could learn a lesson from Sen. Boxer. I'm sure CAIR applied pressure to Sen Boxer with their "action alerts" yet she did not give in and will not give a member of CAIR an undeserved award.Bravo Sen Boxer. CAIRs refusal to condemn Hezbollah and Hamas while condemning the fictional terrorists on the television show 24 shows their hypocrisy.Real terrorists are killing people in the real world while CAIR worries about TV terrorists.

"to build a nation in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance,”
This nation has already been built. We've been doing fine without Islam, thank you very much. Go back to your nation and "build a nation in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance,". Like Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Jordan, Iran, Turkey...

“We have addressed the issues related to this unfortunate and unnecessary incident, and have agreed with Senator Boxer that we should all move forward to build a nation in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance"
-- from a statement by a CAIR official quoted above
There is exactly one faith that inculcates in its adherents a strict division of the world between Believer and Infidel, and teaches that an endless state of war exists between Believer and Infidel, a war that does not necessarily erupt into fighting, but that nonetheless goes on, as Believers must work, using whatever instruments of Jihad are at hand and prove to be effective at a particular time and place, to spread Islam throughout the Bilad al-kufr, or Lands of the Infidels, until any "barriers to Islam" (and those, for Muslims, include the political and legal institutions of the Infidel nation-state) are removed, so that Islam can everywhere dominate ("Islam is to dominate and not to be dominated" insisted Muhammad) and Muslims rule, everywhere.
What needs to be done is an end to taqiyya-and-tu-quoque by Muslim spokesmen and other apologists, because any continuing of this kind of behavior simply arouses suspciions, that grow, and grow, quite reasonably, and force Infidels to find out more and more about Islam, its teachings, its attitudes, its atmospherics, and about the 1350-year history of Jihad-conquest and subjugation, under Muslim rule, of non-Muslims in the lands conquered by Islam. And more knowledge about these matters -- real knowledge, not the esposito-sells-ernst-armstrong pap, is the last thing Muslims want to see being acquired, and then disseminated, among the Infidels among whom they have been allowed, without any critical scrutiny or understanding of Islam on the part of those whose duty it is to both instruct and protect us, our rulers, who have everywhere in North America but still more dangerously in Western Europe, have permitted criminally negligent policies to remain in force, without -- until recently -- even a glimmer of some coming to their senses in time.
Now it is happening, despite the best efforts of CAIR -- or perhaps, it should be said, in reaction to the best efforts of sinister CAIR.

I didn't know they had "action alerts." Maybe we jihad watchers should sign up for them. I can just imagine the posibilities...

Barbara Boxer is one tough who won't be giving back that award anytime soon. Not in this lifetime at least. CAIR's crybabies will have to deal with that

"to build a nation in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance,”
Since when has Islam ever worked together with other faiths to promote respect and tolerane?
A muslim is forbidden to even be friends with Infidels, except to deceive them until the day the've grown strong enough to subjugate them to the Islamic ideology.
Working together with other faiths to promote respect and tolerance is anathema to Muslims. Respect and tolerance are not part of Allah's program for his brave new world.
We don't need the assistance of Muslims to build our nation. We've already done that on Judeo-Christian principles. There's nothing Muslims can contribute to our civilization except the strife and intolerance they built their own civilizations on, and would like to import into our nation.

Re: Boxer, CAIR say dispute resolved, but Boxer won't return rescinded award
She's a good politician. She has her cake and eats it too. But the bottom line is that she's not conned. She knows something, she's been given a heads-up by somebody in law enforcement. Eventually, CAIR will be exposed big-time. With the CAIR-Pharisees what has been hidden will be shouted from the roof tops.
When these deceivers talk about condemning terrorism they don't really apply that rule to unbelievers-and certainly not to Jews (aka known as uppity Dhimmis) in Dar-al-Islam. They are of the Clinton school on the matter, and think that with regard to terrorism, it all depends on the meaning of "is" when defining a terrorist. But we must never forget that these morally superior people have Nazi family values, and that nonbelievers are unclean compared to them, as we gaze upon their "Whitened Sepulchre smiles".

Frank:
Please stop comparing CAIR to the Pharisees. What role the Pharisees actually played in the trial and Crucifiction of Christ vs the Roman governor is a little more debatable than what role CAIR plays as a PR firm for global jihad.

You're right. It's unfair to the Pharisees. At least those hypocrites did not support terrorists. They were just PR guys-and full of poop.

"...in which people of all faiths work together to promote respect and tolerance,” CAIR said in a statement".
In other words, all religions must bow to the one true one (the one with Illah at its head). All religions must tolerate and respect Islam-Islam is exempt from this, being superior to all faiths.

How can CAIR not be lying here?
How can they work to promote respect and tolerance from among their own toward non-Muslims when their god of their Koran reminds them repeatedly that infidels are their enemy not to be made friends of, are all going to hell and should be regarded as the “vilest of creatures” (98:6) to be eventually killed or subjugated under a protection tax (9:29)? How? People need to see that, after the Muhammad's early Mecca period, the Koran was concoted basically as mind numbing hate-indoctrination for conquest, plunder and all the sex toys a warrior could want.

CAIR's pointed refusal to condemn Hizbollah and Hamas is very telling indeed. It is simply more Taqiyyah - they condemn all terrorism but they cannot condemn Hizbollah and Hamas because they do not regard them as terrorist organisations. Rather they see them as freedom fighters / holy warriors / pick-your-euhphism.

"CAIR-Los Angeles Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said the group condemns all acts of terrorism."
This is the standard Islamist talking-point they use to evade the issue whenever anyone mentions a specific act of Islamic terrorism to them, whether it's 9-11 or a suicide attack in Israel. They "condemn all forms of terrorism" because they the retaliatory actions taken by the West against Islamic terrorism to be terrorism too. They consider Israel's actions in Lebanon and the West Bank to be terrorism, and America's actions in Afghanistan (never mind Iraq) to be terrorism.
Of course, this dovetails very neatly with the corruption of the term "terrorism" by the Western Left. Howard Zinn's "War Is Terrorism" is his way of indicting all of American history, all the wars we fought going back to 1776, as terrorism.
at January 26, 2007 9:33 AM
True, Steven.
But at the same time one has to admit that the West gifted Islam the concept of 'moral relativism'. There are t-shirts with pictures of bush and the byline 'World's number 1 terrorist' after all.
Islam is absolutist and not above exploiting the weakness that is moral relativism in the West.

Exactly, (and you beat me to it.) People have to learn they can't let pretty sounding words wash over them like a warm summer breeze.
Ask: respect FOR WHAT and tolerance OF WHAT?

Nuff said.. but it needs to be shouted from the rooftops until we rid ourselves of these evil clowns somehow. I want our politicians to know how we the people feel. I wish to see logic and common sense return to our civic life!
The only way that can be accomplished is to make a lot of noise!
I am glad you and DC caught that sly little cut via which they tried to insert themselves inbto the fabric of the Nation.
They are and will always remain OUTSIDERS. Bloodsuckers. Interlopers.

Islam says from hours 6 to 10,
you must be killing people again.
Here's Omar, he came from afar!
just to kill some people again.
And uncle Ali, from bombing Bali!
loves to kill people again.
And Osama Bin Laden, scraggy and sodden!
fatwa'd to kill people again !
gotta kill,gotta kill,
gotta kill,gotta kill,
That's what Islam says,
from hours 6 to 10 !
