Fitzgerald: Islamophobia? Not so fast

"Analysts both in the Muslim and the Western world by and large agree that “fear” and lack of objective dialogue are the root cause of Islamophobia and Anti-Americanism." – a statement by Abukar Arman in this article

Not so fast, buster. The word "Islamophobia" is not an acceptable term for intelligent apprehensions over Islam. For Islam is for its adherents a total belief-system whose central and moving idea is that of a complete division between Believer and Infidel. It asks of Believers that they offer their sole loyalty to Islam as a Total System, and to the Jihad, furthered through many conceivable instruments, to spread the dominance of Islam to lands that for now may still be under Infidel rule. Believers are also to ensure that dominance of Islam by removing "all obstacles" to its spread. They are to ensure that Muslims rule, and not just here or there, not just in the lands now part of Dar al-Islam or once part of Dar al-Islam, but everywhere.

The large-scale presence of Muslims in the Lands of the Infidels has brought about a situation, for those indigenous Infidels (and also for other non-indigenous arrivals, non-Muslim immigrants), that is unpleasant, expensive (the costs of monitoring, the costs of security, spiralling ever upward), and physically dangerous. Ask a Frenchman who dares to enter the "quartiers chauds" which are all over France. Or ask English residents of Birmingham and Bradford and Leeds and Manchester and parts of London, or ask Swedes in Malmo, or Dutch in Rotterdam and parts of Amsterdam.

"Islamophobia" is a word concocted to intimidate those who are rightly troubled, and more than troubled, by what they have learned of Islam largely through the observable behavior of Muslims not only in the West, but around the world -- and also through more and deeper study of the canonical texts and of the history of Jihad-conquest over the past 1350 years, from Spain to the East Indies, and of the subsequent subjugation of many different non-Muslim peoples: Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists, and others. The similarities in their treatment, and the similarities in the impulses and attitudes exhibited by Muslims over a wide area, are simply too great to ignore.

Likewise impossible to ignore are the problems of Muslims in Australia and England, in France and Germany, in Spain and Italy, in Belgium and the Netherlands, in Sweden and Denmark and Norway, or even, in far fewer numbers, in the United States and Canada. Everywhere they manifest the same kinds of hostility, the same kinds of wearing-away demands, the same false or real outrage, the same refusal to truly collaborate with the security services. They engage in constant attempts to undermine the most commonsensical of measures. They conduct sustained and cynical campaigns of Da'wa, often based on hiding the reality of Islam and offering the most superficial aspects of it (the rituals) to a vulnerable targeted audience of the economically and psychically marginal. And they do so many other things -- including the astonishing campaigns to shut down free speech everywhere, not only in Denmark (at Jyllands-Posten, which resulted in death threats directed at Danes from all over the Dar al-Islam) but also in The Netherlands (the murders of Pym Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh). Death threats have driven some out their jobs (Robert Redeker in France) and forced others to cease the expression of their views (Will Cummins in Great Britain). This is Islam On the March, completely determined to keep and hold and expand what it sees as its beachhead, and more than a beachhead, all over the Dar al-Harb.

The inability or willful refusal by many in the West to understand this is a product of many things. Among those things is sentimentalism about How All People Are the Same the Whole World Over and Everyone Wants the Same Thing, with its obvious variant, All Religions Are Equally Dangerous. Just look at a few of those blood-curdling lines about the Canaanites or some such in old Hebrew texts -- why, that makes Judaism just as dangerous, maybe more so, than Islam with whatever it is said to inculcate. Doesn't it?

What this transparent attempt at symmetry offers is not one falsehood but many. "Islamophobia" is a word used by apologists for Islam to avoid answering specific, detailed, and knowledgeable questions about Islam. These questions that cannot be answered, in truth, because if the truth were offered as an answer it would force Muslims themselves to indict Islam, to admit that what is in the texts is in the texts, and is taken seriously by a billion people -- and that those who do not take the texts seriously are not "moderate" Muslims but essentially bad Muslims, unobservant Muslims, Muslims who do not really believe. And there are far fewer of these than most non-Muslims assume. They are always open to the possibility of relapse, and certainly their progeny are, so that Infidels cannot base their own security and that of their institutions on the "hope" that those "moderate" -- i.e., bad -- Muslims will never change their minds, and that their children will continue in the same vein.

That is a wager that Infidels should not be asked to make: to bet their physical safety and that of their children and grandchildren, and that of their societies on those moderates. For those Infidel societies are already in various states of confusion and disarray, and are facing all kinds of problems. Such a bet could allow them to be done in by this Total Belief-System that originated 1350 years ago as an ideology, compounded of bits and pieces, distorted or misremembered, of both Judaism and Christianity, and with an admixture of pre-Islamic Arab paganism.

No. That should not be expected of us, the Infidels. We are not ready to concede or commit suicide.

"Islamophobia" is a term meant to appeal to emotion and not to the logical analysis of the issues. It's bullshit. Anyone who uses the term is a CAIR-Pharisee.

That is a great song. I'm sure Fitzgerald will sing it every time he sees the term "Islamophobia". He and Boxer can now do a duet re "Smiling Faces" and "Islamophobia" .

Lets put the correct meaning to the word "Islamophobia" = "Enlightenment"

Posted by: sounder [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2007 9:07 AM

Islamophobia is possibly the only rational phobia out there.

Funny, I tried looking up Islamophile on Dictionary.com and discovered that this word doesn't exist. Could it be that nobody really loves Islam, Muslims included?

"Islamophobia:

A fake word often used by Spanky Hooper and Alfalfa Awad over at the CAIR He Man Woman Haters Club.

It is nothing better than a bogus tool being used to obtain unwarranted sympathy for those who adhere to 7th century backwardness and refuse to get with the times.

Phobia means: an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation (from Websters Dictionary)

And by calling us names such as that - they are demeaning our very, real concerns about their teachings and the ones who carry out those teachings around this world.

Too hard for you to ignore, maybe. But easy to ignore for the opinion celebrities, idiot reporters, permanent governors, and teachers.

For they suffer a phobia of phobia claims, and at the first sight of a phobia charge knee buckle and immediately assume that it's a lack of knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity at work.

There's work, income, and conceit in that. For them.

How ironic that the ignorers arrogantly assume the role of uninvited informers, for all they can do, and have done, is gird and spread a very dangerous ignorance.

Ahistoricism, and fake History Departments, bathe in this stinking witch's brew.

s_sgt7-

I'm afraid we will have to fear Islam for as long as this monstrosity exists-it's the first line of defense against it.

As for those mythical moderate Muslims I think the only place we will ever find them will be in graveyards-only after they are dead are they rendered totally harmless. Maybe only a few living ones actually engage in violence but the silence of that "vast majority" is so deafening that it serves as an endorsement for the actions of that "tiny minority".

I really don’t know what the big deal is, everyone has islamophobia.
I don’t want to beat my wife for the heck of it. I don’t want to stick a knife in the chest of my sister for living her life her way. I don’t want to hate Jews Christians or any others if I don’t have to. I don’t want to take things from others just because I think I’m better than them. They demand all of these things so yes I have islamophobia. But the muslims have it also, why do you think they all strictly follow the rules? Islamophobia. Why do they kill family members? Islamophobia again. Why are they afraid to leave their ideology, islamophobia what else? They are so frightened that they will inadvertently insult islam and you know what they do about that, that they have developed islamophobia as well. So we all have it, the question should be what causes it or how do we get rid of it once we have it?

Posted by: tgusa [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2007 10:04 AM

Islamophobia is actually quite rational.

If you use the definition that fundamentalist Christians or Baptists (there are distinctions here, consult a Baptist minister) use of the word "FEAR". Their use of the word fear is to mean knowledge. As in fearing God.

Islamophobia will keep you alive.

Looks like Toronto, the San Francisco Bay and the Caliphate of Minnesota (might as well throw in Michigan for that matter) are the new "Axis of Evil"
right here in North America. But of course all our wonderful politicians let more and more of the peaceful ones come in and act like they still live in the ummah. Now why would anyone be Islamophobic given these facts?

"Allah the news Allah the time"-that's a good one!
Sounds like the Toronto Star is just like the Red Star (oops-I mean the Star Tribune) here in the Caliphate-wouldn't surprise me if the same company owned both of these rags.

Hugh can sometimes dominate these conversations so perhaps I should address this question to him.

You obviously seem to believe that Condoleezza Rice is simply not up to the job.
She simply does not have the knowledge.
So I have a suggestion.
Why not go into politics?

You seem to have an encyclopaedic
Knowledge of Islam and what it will take to defeat the radicals.

So why not run for high office?

Also while your at it why not write a book on the subject?
Hugh Fitzgerald has a totally different writing style to Robert Spencer.
He lacks the humour and warmth of Robert Spencer , a Belloc to Robert Spencer’s Chesterton.

You may be from a academic background but seem mercifully free from the leftist illusions so prevalent among that sort.

So please go into politics.
Even if you are of an advanced age remember Reagan was in his seventies when he became president.

"Analysts both in the Muslim and the Western world by and large agree that “fear” and lack of objective dialogue are the root cause of Islamophobia and Anti-Americanism. And while the debate on which one of the two ignited the other is still ongoing, one fact remains irrefutable: more people were victimized as a result of Islamophobia than the other way around."

Two million Christians murdered in Southern Sudan over the last ten years, 300 children murdered in a Russian school house, over 50 people blown to bits on the London subway, 3000 people murdered in the World Trade Center, 200 innocents murdered on a Spanish train, thousands of innocent travelers blasted out the skies, Millions of non-Muslims living in fear and teror for their lives everyday in Islamic countries.

All in the name of Islam.
All coutesy of Muslim "Martyrs" and terrorists.

Is that "objective dialogue" enough?

Now where is your "irrefutable" evidence that "more people were victimized as a result of Islamophobia than the other way around."?

tgusa,

It does not suprise me that even the Chinesse have fallen prey to the Islamofacist monsters. They have to protect a major sports gathering that is coming up next summer in Bejjing, the Olympics and a new major office tower going up in Shanghi, called the World Financial Center.

tgusa: that's perceptive and funny. You're right they have Islamophobia too! I'd not thought of it that way. Islam keeps everyone in their place through fear. The muslims actually have islamophobia too - that's hilarious.

This would be a great rebuttal to anyone making the charge of islamophobia.

"Analysts both in the Muslim and the Western world by and large agree that “fear” and lack of objective dialogue are the root cause of Islamophobia AND ANTI-AMERICANISM." – a statement by Abukar Arman

In this discussion so far, it's been entirely overlooked how "Islamophobia" (an inherently meaningless, but superficially provocative term - hence the difficulty in defining it...) has been coupled with "Anti-Americanism" (a term describing an unfortunately very real phenomenon)to give the former the suggestion of legitimacy by association with the latter. This is the same tactic which is used when Muslims link their self-proclaimed "victimization" with the experience of Jews in the Holocaust. This is another "weapon" (along with the use of confrontational questions, as reported in "Why did you shoot your grandmother?" - as posted on January 25th) in the Islamic fight for supremacy, which ultimately will be won or lost in the battlefield of (mis-informed) public opinion.

Posted by: Liberty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2007 11:09 AM

Reading the entire article, you will see that "anti-americanism" is brought up only in the beginning as an attempt at making it and Islamophobia seem equal.(see, you're getting picked on, too, fellow victim) Then it is never mentioned again.

Apparently there is a new bugbear to replace the "military-industrial complex" now it's "the terrorism industry"

BTW: The root cause of anti-Americanism is - envy.

Looks a lot like Nazi propaganda of the 30s that was designed to portray Jews in a bad light. Did Hitler actually survive, immigrate to Canada, and get a job at the cbc? From what I hear it would not be that difficult. All Hitler need do is claim persecution and change his name to something like Abu Hitler, he could have slipped right in. What you need to do is tell the cbc, I have deleted your channel from my lineup. Tell them not to worry you will still occasionally monitor their broadcasts, for the purpose of determining who advertises with them, so as to never buy from or do business with any of their advertisers. That is where the power is, they may be a state run company but these days they are all counting on ad dollars to stay on the air. Companies are very money conscious and they don’t like seeing their products linked with bad publicity. The networks may think the tiny minority of islamists are important but the companies know exactly who does and doesn’t buy their goods.

First up, boycott the Chinese Olympics and their advertisers, if we do I bet they change their tune real quick.

I wouldn’t recommend walking the fence of a pigpen anywhere near breakfast, lunch, dinner and don’t forget snacktime.

Here is that review by Michael Coren of "Little Mosque on the Prairie" in the Toronto Sun:

Show is visual drudgery
By MICHAEL COREN

When sane people read about a comedy show called Little Mosque on the Prairie made by a notoriously liberal public broadcaster they assumed it was a clever self-parody.

The CBC had at last found a sense of humour, they assumed, and was making fun of its own reputation for political correctness and plodding leftism.

A spoof, they thought. A clever ploy to fool us into believing our national broadcaster would not be so predictable and crass as to actually run with such a weak and cringing idea. But then they realized this is Canada and this is the CBC.

Then they saw it. The usual visual drudgery. Awful Canadian actors mouthing lamentable dialogue packed with cliches and telegraphed attempts at humour. The bland leading the bland. And all paid for by your tax dollars -- including the huge advertising campaign for the project. Public money that could otherwise have been spent on something trivial like a nurse in an intensive care ward.

The obvious first. It goes without saying that no such comedy will be made in this country where Christians are portrayed as a misunderstood community and all of the non-Christians around them as buffoons and extremists. Also goes without saying that we'll never see an episode of Little Church in the Desert on Saudi TV.

From beginning to end the show thumps us over our non-hijab wearing heads with a clumsy hammer. Any fears about Islam, we are told, are based on our own ignorance and bigotry.

Everyone is a caricature in Little Mosque, but some caricatures are more obnoxious than others.

The Muslim characters are nice and kind and ordinary in that quintessentially Canadian way. Some of them may be silly and old-fashioned but they'd never hurt a fly, let alone kill an infidel.

The non-Muslim caricatures, however, are repugnant. Especially if they're cops.

You know cops. The poor fools who have to put their lives on the line during a terrorist attack. A terrorist attack which, naturally, could never have anything to do with Islam.

By the way, in the month of December alone there were 249 jihadist incidents around the world, resulting in 1,794 deaths and 1,589 people being critically injured.

About the only compassionate and apparently informed non-Muslim anywhere to be seen in the program is an Anglican priest. The usual witless literary device who makes us feel good because we're obliged to identify with his good sense and humanism.

Does he, one wonders, ask his Muslim friends if they follow one interpretation of the Koran's teaching that apostates from their religion should be killed?

He might also want to ask them if the Koran allows a husband to beat his wife. Something which is not denied even by those Muslims who are uncomfortable with the passage.

Or he might want to monitor the sermons in the Little Mosque to make sure that, unlike many of those in Gaza, Cairo, Jerusalem, Damascus, Islamabad and even a few in Canada, they're not applauding the Sept. 11 massacres, calling Jews monkeys and pigs who should be slaughtered, demanding that Christians be killed in a holy war or that homosexuals should be put to the sword.

Genuine understanding might be possible.

But only after genuine truth, genuine criticism and, well, genuine comedy.

Tgusa,

I am a pig and this is MY year beginnning on February 18.

I will be sending Lunar New Year emails to all my friends in Asia. Rest assured that I will have many references to pigs along with my best wishes for happy and prosperous "Year of the Pig."

I believe that for CCTV to ban pig ads sends a dangerous message. Although I saw Halal restaurants in Shanghai during my trips last fall, there are very few Muslims in the eastern 90% of China.

The Chinese zodiac predates Islam by thousands of years. Why should the vast majority of the Chinese change their ways for one small minority which is concentrated in one province? If the pig is banned, what's next? The current year, the year of the dog? What about the years of the rat, rabbit and monkey?

Posted by: FirePig [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2007 11:30 AM

Now what about that Terrorism Industry?

This plays on the conventional wisdom of: Smart people "follow the money." Look at who is profiting from something and you see who probably started it, or is at least whipping it up.

Sure, war profiteering exists, and should be considered as a motivation for some.

You may not need that candy bar you saw a commercial for, but you do need to eat.

National security (like eating) is a necessity due to the nature of humanity, if nothing else. And in the face of specific threats, only a fool wouldn't invest in defense.

In the eyes of his contemporaries he certainly was. They preferred to live in blissful ignorance of the threat that was amassing and would soon endanger their very existence.
"Peace in our time" was their mantra.
(Sound like anyone we all know?)

His was a lonely voice but Churchill persevered and eventually (after they were bombed) his people realized he was right. Fortunately for them (and us), they were able to regroup and defeat this menace (like the Communists, the Nazis were atheists) before it overwhelmed them.

Let us pray that the lonely voices of people like Robert and Hugh are also heeded before our country and many others are consigned to the dustbin of history.

"The rationale for all this, of course, is that ‘we live in age of terror’– a notion that Professor Mueller outright rejects as “hyperbolic." He said, “The probability of an American being killed by an act of terrorism is one in 80,000, which is more or less the same probability as being hit by an asteroid.” But, no one is frightening people with the latter."

It seems pointless to argue with people who make such arguments. They cannot understand that an asteroid isn't setting out to kill us, unlike the person who straps a bomb to himself or who sets a bomb on a plane, road, etc.
In addition, barring the development of satellite or space-based weapons that can divert it, there is nothing we can do about the asteroid that is hurtling toward earth. However we CAN do something about the humans among us who believe it is their religious duty to kill others. We have the power to act. We should use it. It is our duty to civilization.

I’m seeing/hearing a lot more of Robert these days as well. You can tell by the reaction of our so called friends, they probably don’t have any time to do anything but appear on this show or that in an attempt to fix that giant crack in the dam that is developing right before their eyes. When the dam breaks, lookout, anyone down stream the wall of water will take you out as well. Just keep pushing, JW staff and visitors, the little pigs straw hut will eventually come crashing down. s_sgt7,

I read the article linked here and I pulled out my virtual violin and played it for the Muslims who don't understand why they bear the burden of 9/11.

I would say that Germans bore the burden of the Nazis, even though there might have been a sizable number who opposed Hitler.
One of the prices they paid was de-nazification. The entire belief system (of German purity and rightful superiority) was discredited and their nation still bears the stain.
Muslims seem unwilling to have any of their own belief system discredited. They are unwilling even to admit that their philosophy is what motivates these killers. The path they are on can lead to one of two places: elimination of Islam or elimination of everyone else.
We face long odds, but I'd still bet on the elimination of Islam (at least its tenets of superiority and legitimacy as a philosophy of government).

Alarmed Pig Farmer - do pigs eat muslims?

Properly trained and managed, yes. But the training regimen takes time and is quite expensive.

The process to develop an Alarmed Pig from your everyday slop-hog is intense, so intense that it has been compared to the Navy Seals program.

Step 1) The first step is to test a young hog for potential. This phase entails showing the hog a constant stream of photo collages and videos of angry Moslem rioters denouncing Infidels, especially Jews, as pigs, and also a steady diet of videos of pious Imams invoking passages from the Koran and Hadiths that proscribe pork as haram (impure).

Step 2) After a few weeks of such fare, the trainer appears at the hog’s pen, attired in dishdash and kufi and mumbles something in Arabic, Turkish, or Urdu (doesn’t matter which). If the young hog snarls and snaps and charges his pen’s cyclone fence with his teeth bared, you have a candidate for Alarmed Pig School. If the hog fails the test, you sell him into the nearest pork slaughterhouse to rid the hog farm of bad influences.

Step 3) Then onto the conditioning phase, which takes place in a solitary pen inside the big barn. This phase is highly confidential, but I can share some details. The first day, pipe into the pen fragrances of human male infidels while showing videos of Porky Pig cartoons (young hogs love that stuff). Feed the young hog sirloin and lobster all day long and let him wash it down with Evian.

Step 4) The next day, while showing videos of Murrah and 9/11 and 7/7 and UN Security Council hearings and the aftermaths of any of hundreds of other Moslem disasters, then a steady feed of Hoop and angry Palestinians and so on, all the while piping in the scent of Moslem men.

Step 5) On to state police dog training school. Don’t answer questions like “how come a pig and not a dog?” cuz you could get busted by the ASPCA or agents from the pro-Jihad CIA or MI5.

Step 6) Then A&E School (so named for Attack and Explosives).

Step 7) If the hog graduates from A&E, all hail the Alarmed Pig. Then a field trial to execute a toothy bloody attack in Dearborn or Birmingham (the former if you’re an American patriot; the latter if you’re one of the few Brits who still salute the Union Jack).

Step 8) Into the target selection phase. It’s all very hush hush. Then steal articles of clothing from the subject for scent recognition. Finally, execute the operation. The handler will videotape the attack, and the leisurely meal, for the training of other young hog prospect.

2:216 * 4:74 * 9:111 * 8:12 * 4:96 * 56:22 * 38:51 * 55:56 * 55:76 * 56:22 * 8:74 * 9:2 *

Hogs are quite sensitive, you know. Political too.

If "Islamophobia" is interpreted in its original etymological sense (Greek phobos = 'fear'), then all non-Muslims SHOULD be Islamophobes. But there is the nasty parallel with medical terms such as arachnophobia and claustrophobia, as though it were some kind of pathological condition that should be cured. And it is usually interpreted by those ignorant of etymology as "hatred of Muslims" which is quite a different thing -- a hater of Muslims should really be a Misislamist (or perhaps Mislamist for euphony). Of course fearing something (for good reasons) can also lead to hatred of that thing (also for good reasons, unless we are truly pious Christians who love our enemies and turn the other cheek).

Hugh Fitzgerald writes:
"The large-scale presence of Muslims in the Lands of the Infidels has brought about a situation, for those indigenous Infidels (and also for other non-indigenous arrivals, non-Muslim immigrants), that is unpleasant, expensive (the costs of monitoring, the costs of security, spiralling ever upward), and physically dangerous."

You must have written this, or posed a query
meant to lead one to it, dozens of times over
the past several years. So trenchant an
observation it is that I've lifted it verbatim
numerous times to start enlightening
conversations. Thanks!

-- from a posting above

I decided long ago that for pedagogic purposes I would deliberately repeat fixed phrases. This may annoy some who keep seeing them, and they think that I am merely too dull to be able to vary them, but I could vary them in a thousand ways, if I wished. In the same way, I allow myself to phrase things using words and expressions that would never do in a different context, for different purposes. But here a deliberate goal is being worked towards. And therefore, please excuse the repetition as a matter of calculation. Cold, subzero calculation.

Just invented a new word

Dhimmi-PHOBIA, sources Dhimmi-britanica:

Meaning: fear of people who do not accept Islam or have their own individual right to their own path in life which is a fear to Islam not holding it's claws on people. For example non Muslims are feared that Jew's will turn into monkeys like the people found in Turkey recently, it could hold some truth as their is now new evidence but not sure if the build up of this Infidel-phobia has taken over 1300 years to sprout.

The fear today has some sympathy now but it is argued that maybe the monkey ape people found were a missing link rather than Jews turning to Monkeys but there is more evidence that because it is in an Islamic were they Muslims turned into monkeys? what controversy what does this mean for the human race?.

(Any hackers please don't shoot free expression in the west get used to it we did).

Pig ads, a big no no during, you guessed it, the Year of the Pig.
Islamophobia strikes again!
Posted by: tgusa

I am beginning to wonder if the islamos have some kind of a "wicked potion" that they admix to anyone in power inside the remaining free lands.

Now the *chinese" who have no problem cracking down on Christians and on Falun Gong [ regardless of how one may feel about the latter] are pre-caving to he "tiny minority".

What the F*** is going on?!

Evreyone is caving to the World's Worst Cult!! Scientologists would be better if there were abillion of them.

Let me just say that if China disrespects the Pig - say goodbye to prosperity, China!

Our varies traditions worldwide serve also the purpose of measuring internal freedom and security.

At times like these when we are under assault we are beholden to rally around our traditional festivals and traditions - adn NOT trhe reverse.

I've also been dismayed to see India react cavenly in the face of pigslam. And even Russia. I mean c'mon Putin.. you were a KGB once. Do you really bow to a horde of inferiors? WHY??

Let us not forget. They ARE our inferiors. They produce absolutely nothing of lasting value. We don't need to list all our inventions and so on and so forth. We all know what i am talking about.

I gotta tell ya.. If China goes down the slippery slope of appeasement.. time to look for property on the moon!

Yesterday, I read about the pig advertisement prohibition in the Wall Street Journal. Before that, I thought the Chinese were at least rational when it came to dealing with muslims - guess I was wrong.

I don't believe everyone is caving in to islam. I think we are seeing a separation of the wheat from the chaff. Right now, the chaff gets most of the media attention. Just this past week, I learned that another co-worker has some very strong anti-muslim opinions. That makes several co-workers I now know have strong anti-muslim feelings. And, these anti-muslim feelings are based on specific articulable facts, not irrational fears.

Every time the muslims have a "victory" like the pig advertisements being banned in China or they make some fallacious claim of discrimination, more infidels take the time to learn what islam is really about. Every day, more infidels learn about the fruits of islam, and it gets harder and harder to swallow the "Religion of Peace" lie.

Educate your fellow infidels, and keep your powder dry.

The term Islamophobia was coined in an attempt to give a name for what Moslems perceived as an antipathy towards their ideology. Observing that the term antisemitism used to describe an unreasonable hatred for Jews, Moslems wanted to come up with a similar catch-phrase to embody the dislike for their actions and ideology rising in the non-Moslem world.

The most natural designation for the antipathy they perceived would have been anti-Islamism or anti-Moslemism, but that did not contain what Msolems wanted to get across. It made them into victims, which was okay with them for their purposes, but it also made them appear as weak victims. And this they did not want. They did not want to appear as the beaten-down Islamic equivalent of the spat-upon Jews that were the target of antisemitism.

Whether this was done consciously or unconsciously does not matter, Moslems came up with the word Islamophobia.

This served their purpose well. A phobia is a fear: Acrophobia--fear of heights, Arachnophobia-fear of spiders, Claustrophobia--fear of enclosed spaces, etc. Ergo: Islamophobia--fear of Islam.

They threw this at us as if shouting, "You are afraid of Islam!" this serves a dual purpose, it makes us ponder whether we are or not (weakness) and it makes us feel guity that we are anti-Moslem, a religion, the Arab race, the whole package.

Do we have Islamophobia? No. Because we are not afraid of Islam. We are disgusted by it.

"its obvious variant, All Religions Are Equally Dangerous." -- from Hugh's essay.

With everything PC, however, one must apply the "Animal Farm Twist":

All Religions Are Equally Dangerous -- but Judaeo-Christianity is More Equally Dangerous Than Others.

It's true the dictionary refers to irrational fear (usually) when defining phobia. However, no such irrational taint is applied to definitions of Francophobe or Anglophobe. So be comfortable as an Islamophobe.

"Let us not forget. They ARE our inferiors. They produce absolutely nothing of lasting value. We don't need to list all our inventions and so on and so forth. We all know what i am talking about."

MeanieMo,
A possible explanation for why this will always be true:

"How can it be otherwise? No permanent foundation can be built on a house of sand; what permanent civilization and progress then can be expected from a people professing a religion founded on fatalism, polygamy and slavery? Their blind belief in inevitable fate and their antagonism to liberty of thought and action have rendered reform next to impossible; and the professors of this religion seem never to realize their obligations and duty toward the people under their rule, of spreading true civilization, good government and the cultivation of the peaceful arts. The natural consequences of this ignorance and blindness has been despotism, mal-administration, bigoted persecution and oppression of their co-religionists.
.......
They are generally illiterate and at the same time self-conceited, and the vainglory in their religion and the nothingness of their own acquirements makes the scorn every other religion. The meager education which they generally receive when young makes them believe that there is not much more left for them to learn in the world.
.......
Such is the boon conferred on human society by Islam, and what a benefactor Muhammad has been to his country! nay, the whole world who was pleased to give to his country, nay the whole world, a religion which, claiming a divine origin as the final and irrevocable standard of morality, has kept its followers sunk in ignorance and barbarism, and has become an insuperable barrier to the regeneration, civilization and progress of the Eastern world."

These words were written in 1911 and they still ring true today. Where would any of these countries be without their oil deposits? They hate Europeans as colonialists, but the Europeans were the ones who gave them their industry and all of their modern accoutrements. Who runs the universities in these countries? Where did they train? Where would they be without western educators? Imagine if we actually DID find a substitute for petroleum, rendering it worthless, except maybe as vaseline. What would they do?

China is not cowering in dhimmitude just yet--in fact, China NEVER cowers--it is the same as losing face. What arouses, and then informs, a visceral as well as a rational Islamonausea, are pools (or rather oceans) of data from four sources:

1) The news

2) Testimonies of personal experience of those who have lived among Muslims, or who have encountered Muslims

3) History

4) The central texts defining Islam for all Muslims (along with peripherally plateresque -- more "isnadically" compromised but still revealing of Muslim mentality and mores -- texts embellishing the cast, characters and contexts of the central texts).

What PC Multiculturalism (PC MC) does with these is roughly the following:

a) First and most solemnly of all, PC MC forbids the concatenation of 1-2-3-4. We must treat each of these separately, the better to thwart any attempts to put a whole Islam on the table for discussion and criticism. PC MC often has recourse to an apodictically dismissive disdain for any attempts at even proposing the fact of a coherent Islam at all that could be the proper object for criticism: for, you see, Islam is too wonderfully varied and many-splendored to be "reduced" to an entity that has systemic, comprehensive, intrinsic, inherent problems which are, in turn, causing grave problems for non-Muslims.

b) The news: PC MC can either accept the mountain of disturbing data coming out of the Muslim world -- in which case PC MC still detaches that data from Islam itself, by dissolving that data into a welter of political, economic, and "cultural" explanations --, or PC MC may sometimes choose either to ignore the prodigiousness of the data, or will try to engage in the Ego Quoque argument to defuse it ("we have wife-beating, rape, violence too; we have been invading countries and killing people too; the CIA funded bin Laden and Saddam; in fact, in most cases, our reckless, or even evil at times, geopolitical behaviors have been causing the grievances of Muslims around the world; etc.").

c) Personal Testimonies: usually simply ignored by PC MC, or when they are noticed, are denigrated as "anecdotal" or as "Islamophobic" or as simply illuminating aforementioned political, economic and "cultural" factors unrelated to Islam itself.

d) History: Here, PC MC may take three tacks:

i) Andalusian Revisionism -- basically saying that Islamic history was, on the whole, actually good and in many ways better than the "Dark Ages" of the West at the time

ii) Ego Quoque -- to the extent that PC MC concedes to notice offensive aspects of Islamic history, they then whip out the Ego Quoque argument: "Well, the West had the Crusades, the Inquisition, Witch-Burnings, Oppression of Galileo, Religious Wars, Black Slavery, Genocide of American Indians, Evil Colonialism, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, etc., so who are we to cast blame? Anyway, that's just the way everybody acted back then -- and when the West did bad things, the West was, of course worse than when those lovely brown cool ethnic sexy exotic oriental Third World Muslims did the same bad things, you see..."

iii) "Islam Needs a Reformation" -- to the extent that PC MC (or some minority factions of it) actually does concede that Islam was irredeemably bad in history, or at least in certain periods of its history, it will then have recourse to the fact that Islam has to develop and reform, Islam never had a Reformation, give Islam time, it will evolve just like we did. And when we try to point out our #1 point (the News) to demonstrate that Islam doesn't seem to be progressing now but rather regressing, PC MC will simply fend that off with the political, economic and "cultural" factors that are forever extraneous to Islam itself.

e) The Central Texts: Here, PC MC has recourse to the following tacks:

i) Ego Quoque -- "Our Bible is just as bad"

ii) Context -- "You are taking those passages out of context"

iii) Scriptural Interpretation -- "The vast majority of Muslims don't interpret those passages like you are doing -- only a minority of "extremists" are doing that, and you sound just like bin Laden when you insist that the Koran and Hadiths must be interpreted so dangerously and violently."

iv) "You don't know Arabic, so how can you correctly read those texts?"

v) "Islam is wonderfully complex and variegated, and you are reducing such a many-splendored panoply of different cultures from Morocco to Indonesia to a couple of books..."

Bottom Line: the main tactic of our dominant and mainstream PC MC by which to defuse any legitimacy to Islamonausea is to simply say that there is no "there there": the Islam which arouses our nausea is either off-limits (and the nausea -- if even conceded to be legitimate at all -- explained by factors other than Islam itself), or doesn't exist at all as a coherent unified object that can be subjected to analysis and criticism, nor which could be a major source for the problems surrounding the behaviors of certain Muslims.

A piercing taxonomy of the problem faced by those attempting, however imperfectly, to present the evidence about the contents of Islam as a belief-system, about the history of Islamic conquest, and about the present-day treatment of non-Muslims in Muslim lands, as recounted by them, and the strategies used to prevent such evidence from being presented, or allowing a partial and distorted presentation, and with a list of the ways in which that overwhelming evidence is undercut, is offered in a posting by "remote_control" above.

You might want to read and study it and print out several copies: one for the refrigerator, so that you can commit most of it to memory, another for your desk, and third in your wallet for ready reference, possibly to be given to some interlocutor before he begins, with his own apologetics, to demonstrate the accuracy of "remote_control's" taxonomy.

He likes to identify the problem as based in "PC MC" and I prefer to identify the problem as "ignorance and stupidity" and you may have yet another way to designate those who make every effort to avoid seeing, much less understanding, what is staring them in the face, but that does not matter as much as the keenness of his classifications.

I appreciate Hugh's comments.

Another thing I'd like to add is that "PC MC" (or however one wants to designate this synthesis of axioms that seem to dominate Western discourse now about the problem of Islam) usually manifests an incoherent contradiction about the entity of Islam:

1) Negatively, they tend to deny Islam coherent status as an entity, in order to protect it from criticism

2) Positively, they tend to grant Islam coherent status as an entity, in order to praise its admirable cultural qualities and also in order to ensure that its lovely moderate and well-mannered millions of followers (and what could they be following if "Islam" doesn't really exist in any coherent way?) from "Islamophobic" prejudice and "hate crimes".

Proponents of PC MC can maintain this contradiction effortlessly and indefinitely, by simply refusing to sit still for the rational thinking (and learning) that is necessary for any serious debate on the issue, opting instead to dance and distract -- and oftentimes, their dance is not necessarily sinister, but just the result of the centrifugal euphoria of the dancing itself; sort of like the whirling dervishes.

Islam says from hours 6 to 10,
you must be killing people again.

Here's Omar, he came from afar!
just to kill some people again.

And uncle Ali, from bombing Bali!
loves to kill people again.

And Osama Bin Laden, scraggy and sodden!
fatwa'd to kill people again !

gotta kill,gotta kill,
gotta kill,gotta kill,

This is a truely great article; it hits the nail on the head.

"Moderate" Muslims are not moderate at all - they're bad Muslims, inobservant Muslims, unbelieving Muslims.

Moderate Muslims are those who fail to take the Qur'an literally. So "moderate" Muslims are, in fact, cherry-picking.

This article is great because it slices the truth away from the myths Muslims want us to buy. Thanks, Mr. Fitzgerald you're article deserves to be widely read.

Sorry my English is not very good, I am a small Argentina worried by the Islamist invasion that's why I would like commenting on something that I saw in a Spanish forum http://noticiasdeeurabia.wordpress.com. A person was suggesting that to throw blood of pig in the reservoirs and preys that way we would manage to attack one of the vital targets to be able to live, the water. This would force them not to be able to drink, nor to be able to wash, nor to use the washer, also the "contaminated" water is used also to water the fruits and vegetables and in the factories of handling and tinned of meal. With what we would be leaving them without meal and without water.

Hello Claudia,
We are all concerned about the islamists and their plans. It’s completely normal, but remember, they like to scare people, terrorize people. They laugh about it at their get togethers. The pig frightens them, they don’t want anything to do with pigs. So even the thought or rumor of pig blood in the water or food will scare them away. They have for years said that Americans/Westerners put Aids or some other nasty disease into the goods we send them. Lies, and more lies, for what? To terrorize their own people into hating us. The best thing to do, in my opinion is spread the word to everyone you know, don’t get too worried, after all there are millions of ways we can get killed in this world. They aren’t winning anything, but they want you to think they are. Our soldiers hold any ground they want in the ME for as long as they feel like holding it. When they are ready they leave, but not until they are ready. They tell us that there are billions of them but we all know that is a lie as well. Truth and knowledge are their greatest enemies, real justice they cannot stand. If they can scare you into believing what they say they have won half the battle. What is worse, living as a slave or dying fighting as a free man/woman? You see there are worse things than death, and fear is one of them so be not afraid be vigilant. The people you save by your actions may be your own friends or family members.

Remote_control's list of ways PCMC undermines
serious inquiry put me in mind of this observation made by Ayn Rand:

"The old-line Marxists used to claim that a single modern factory could produce enough shoes to provide for the whole population of the world and that nothing but capitalism prevented it. When they discovered the facts of reality involved, they declared that going barefoot is superior to wearing shoes."
_____________________________________________________________

As a potter, who uses both centrifugal and centripetal force, I'd say the term "centrifugal" in your context is accurate. The centrifugal euphoria induced by the dodging and dancing creates misshapened thoughts, useless thoughts. PCMC types literally fling themselves "out of their minds".

Malinois,

The reason I second-guessed myself about the euphoric dancing was that the PCMC dancing seems to be calculated to hold the naturally or logically centrifugal parts of their contradiction together -- hence, the opposite intention which motivates the dancing.

Islamamosity - (noun) - 1) A state of white hot anger directed at the followers of a seventh century thief, rapist, murderer, and pedophile who enter a country, live on the dole, pretent to be friends with the natives while planning the murder of the men, the enslavement of the youths, and turning the captured wives and daughters into tilth.
2) A state of outrage at the endless "good cop/bad cop", "moderate muslim/radical muslim" dialogue that paralyzes target populations until it is too late to defend themselves from the enshrouding darkness.
