Virginia Paintball Jihad Update: "Man once acquitted of aiding the Taliban on trial," from AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
A man who was acquitted three years ago of providing services to the Taliban went on trial again Monday, this time accused of lying to a US grand jury about his training as a jihadist.The lawyer for Sabri Benkahla, 31, told a jury that prosecutors essentially laid a perjury trap for Benkahla after his acquittal. The defense has also accused the US government of pursuing a vindictive prosecution after its legal defeat.
Benkahla was one of only two defendants who were acquitted in the government's prosecution of a dozen Muslim men who participated in what the government called a "jihad network" that used paintball games in the Virginia woods in 2000 and 2001 as a means to train for holy war around the globe.
The government called it a "jihad network." That's AP for you. That they gained ten convictions on that basis might suggest that there was something accurate in this designation, but you wouldn't get that impression from this story.

Federal government and the FBI are a joke ! Take away guns from legal american's but allow the idiots to pillage and plunder our country. From Beltway snipers to Mexico, from the Taliban to the Columbian drug runners. If you're American you're a suspect, anything else is racial profiling.

It's too bad this creep was busted in Virginia. I wish he had been busted in Chicago. Chicago PD would have taken him apart before he got to the courtroom.

Lying to a Grand Jury, I heard about a guy who lied to one of those, and he was given a pass.
That guy used the same kind of arguments in his defense.

I find it fascinating that the AP stories often don't carry the name of the writer. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it's the ultimate indication of conspiracy where you see "anonymous postings" posing as news articles that wind up in almost every local paper across the country.
The only thing better would be to quote a handful of unidentified government employees or nameless eye witnesses.

Steamroller, there is another fmaous line about the Cdn Mouties, "They allways get their man". dont know if that still exists, but it always sounded good to me.

Hell, I guess you can plan terrorist attacks with the game of Monopoly, if you wanted too. I don't see how we can lock-up people for what they're thinking, only in what they are doing ? I can see society now: "If you think it; you did it !" Boy, would I be in trouble.

Zena, that is a good saying by try this one. I think it still sounds better than the Canadian slogan. Here is another great scene from "the Untouchables" where Chicago cop Jimmy Malone is speaking to Treasury agent Elliot Ness:
Malone: "You want to get Capone, here's how you get him: He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way!"
This is good, age-old Chicago advice that would be just as effective with the muslims as it was with Al Capone. Just substitute Osama for Capone in the wording above.
