Ruth Dudley Edwards in the Telegraph (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist) calls upon the U.K. to wake up. I don't think this "fringe," unfortunately, is all that fringy, but at least "fringe" is better than "hijacking."
'UK you will pay, Islam is on its way," is the chilling slogan favoured by Muslim radical Abdul Saleem, who was convicted this week of stirring up racial hatred at a rally in London last year. Addressing the crowd in Belgravia Square, near the Spanish and German embassies, Saleem was filmed saying: "There will come a time when we will stand inside these embassies. There will come a time when we will remove that flag. There will come a time when we will raise the flag of Islam – whether you like it or not, Islam is superior and cannot be surpassed."His defence should have pointed out that he was merely stating the obvious. He and his kind believe that through intimidation, conversion and out-breeding, the United Kingdom – and the world over – can be brought under Sharia law.
I take Islam – a religion which, at its best, greatly improves the lives of its adherents – and Islamism – its pernicious fringe – very seriously. The Qur'an is beside my bed, along with Bruce Lawrence's The Qur'an: A Biography; I've just finished Karen Armstrong's hagiographical Muhammad and its antithesis, Robert Spencer's The Truth About Muhammad; I try vainly to persuade visitors to watch my DVD of Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West; Michael Gove should pay me commission for having persuaded so many people to buy his Celsius 7/7; I've just ordered Nick Cohen's What's Left?: How Liberals Lost Their Way to join the pile of Islam-related books on my to-read pile, which I have little time to address because, in addition to working for a living, I spend at least two or three hours a day reading about Islamic matters or talking to similarly obsessed friends and colleagues at speeches and seminars.
There is much in my personal and working life that, early on, put me in the camp of those who believe Islamism is a totalitarian threat that could destroy our civilisation within a few decades with the help of the West-loathing Left, the wimpish Right, the political and diplomatic wishful thinkers, the massed ranks of risk-averse politically correct bien-pensants and the cowards who want to avoid confrontation at all costs – not to speak of the innumerable peaceable British Muslims who allow bullies and bigots to represent them in the media and who buy into the comfort blanket of victimhood.
Thank you, Ms. Edwards. I'm glad to see someone see my book as an antidote to the Armstrong farrago. And in honour of your bringing the book to the attention of British readers, for the duration of this day, every time I used the words "humour," "colour," or "favour," I'll be adding a "u." (Credit for the quip goes to Bob Dylan on his delightful Theme Time Radio Hour program on XM Radio.)

Re: Abdul Saleem
I think it was in John Toland's 1976 biography of Hitler where it was related that there was an official in the German government of the 1920's who advocated placing Hitler in a mental hospital after the coup attempt in Bavaria in 1923. Hitler expressed a good deal of concern to his inner circle re that fellow who advocated putting Hitler in a mental hospital. Hitler knew that the stigma of being placed in a mental hospital would not easily wear off and that placing him in a mental hospital would be very harmful to the Nazi "movement", more harmful than any prison terms for those involved in the attempt to impose Nazi rule in Germany.
I think the authorities in Britain and elsewhere should give serious thought to placing people such as Abdul Saleem in mental institutions. If a similar policy had been followed with Hitler and several of the Nazi leaders in the Germany of the 1920's the world might have been spared what Abdul Saleem and Hitler types intend to bring to reality. People such as Abdul Saleem and Hitler are genocidal psychotics who should be placed (for many years) in mental hospitals.

This just coming across Fox and CNN--- A suicide truck bomber blew up in a Bagdad market at about sundown, its busy time, and the death total is over 120 with 225 injured.
The thread is "UK you will pay, Islam is on its way". Add your countries name to this and realise that same DESIRE to do acts of that magnitude is in all our countries whether they have the capacity or not.

A false prophet that cons you
Into thinking you're the one
That can do what's never been done
That can win what's never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you.
While preachers preach of evil fates
Imams teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the Ummah
Sometimes must have
To stand naked.

Well said Lame Cherry
More than once God chastised Israel for its going astray and worshiping the Golden Calf. One way of punishment, waking up the Jews, is to send them mortal enemy. This challenge and warfare brings the Jews closer to God. There are no atheists in the foxholes
Obviously the secular people of the West find it impossible to acknowledge a religious war. Religion doesn't motivate them so they lazily deny it can motivate others so powerfully as to lead others to make war, make Jihad, to conquer and subjugate the infidel. To take Europe for their own. For their Ummah.
Ummah always demands more lebensraum

Even Ruth Dudley Edwards feels compelled to offer the sop that Islam is “a religion which, at its best, greatly improves the lives of its adherents”. Yeah? What kind of Islam greatly improves lives? It only could be an Islam that ignores all the Allah and Muhammad commands to despise the non-Muslims as the lowest of creatures doomed to subjugation and hellfire, and one that demands intolerance (if possible) life under any government of the filthy kufaar but only under the woman oppressing, head & hand lopping Sharia. But how can that be Islam?
One might sometimes pretend otherwise but the only rational conclusion is that Islam, true Islam, has to go in total.

"Even Ruth Dudley Edwards feels compelled to offer the sop that Islam is “a religion which, at its best, greatly improves the lives of its adherents”."
She hasn't had the simple epiphany which we Jihad Watchers (or most of us, at any rate) have had: that Islam itself is the fecund source of the problem -- a source that, for all its many-splendored and many-splintered diversity, is psychologically, sociologically and ideologically powerful for millions of Muslims whether in the Muslim world or in the Muslim diaspora in the West. Ms. Edwards is still inching along on the Learning Curve, and she seems to show signs of progressive locomotion thereon, rather than of having become stuck in a holding pattern asymptotically short of the final graduation, like so many others. Only time will tell if she is able to matriculate.
There are powerful inhibitions in our Western societies to taking that final step:
1) The anxious concern not to seem "racist" and "bigoted" against that gigantic and exclusive target of all alleged racism and bigotry -- Third World cultures & peoples.
2) Closely related to #1, the inability of the mind to grasp the notion that an entity as large and historically old and endowed with the halo of a "major world Religion" as Islam could itself be the major source of the problems coming out of the Muslim world.
Because of these two powerful inhibitions, the PC paradigm becomes very useful for allowing a person to feel like they are addressing the problems coming out of the Muslim world, and yet, at the same time, avoiding the blanket (and "bigoted") condemnation of Islam itself (and, by implication, most, or all, Muslims). As such, Ms. Edwards is still hanging onto the PC security blanket, and probably experiences that semi-conscious dread of letting go and getting swept by the inexorable tide that leads one to "bigotry", "racism", and "genocide".

I came across an audio version of Armstrongs' fawning, puke inducing and in some parts, hilarious. Like the suggestion that all the negative aspects of Islam were actually imported from other religions, ie misogyny and anti-semitism was copied from Christianity and were not natural elements of Islam.
I also enjoyed her 'excuse' for Mohammads genocidel rage against Jews, she said that it was perfectly normal [at that time] to kill all the living males [after a battle], so they wouldn't run off and join up with another [Jewsish] tribe and make Mohammad's life hard. Actually she is right, however when you transfer [by muslims following the prophets example] that behaviour into the 21st Century you do indeed get terrorism.

No- it’s just that in Britain you MUST always include some favourable reference to anything you are criticising, regardless of what it is. If you do not you are simply dismissed as a bigot.
In the case of Islam, failure to do this means you are a racist and could cost you your job - or put you in court if not in jail.

do we see immigration from the West to these islamist countries? how many Pakis try to move to the West as compared how many Americans move to Pakistan, aka cesspoolstan? this man should be given a sentence in a mental hospital for uttering such
nutty words, better yet, send the sicko aka pious muslim back to his cesspoolstan.

That is not news to us here at JW but Muslims openly admitting this in the UK, is.

Can you please tell me under what law you will be put in court for not including a favourable reference to Islam?

In the interests of fair-mindedness it is standard British practice to present a “balanced picture” therefore you have to present the other side of any story. You might have seen the two documentaries on Genghis Khan last year? These informed us that even though he devastated three civilisations’, India, China and Arabia and came within a hair's breadth of ravaging Europe, he was still a jolly clever fellow. A balanced picture you understand.
If you do not include a favourable reference in a piece criticising Islam you are obviously making an entirely negative statement. This is likely to incite racial hatred, which is contrary to the Race Relations Act. If you make a favourable reference to Islam in the same article you cannot be accused of racism or “Islamophobia” because you have written a “balanced piece”. You have therefore covered your back in case the prosecution and the favourable statements can be used in your defence.
It's blindingly obvious.
BTW - You might be able to find a posting over on and Up Pompeii this week. It claimed that new guidelines had been issued to the press advising that any report that “damaged community cohesion” was probably illegal. If true this means you do not have to be racist to get into trouble you only need to publish something likely to “damage community cohesion”.

There is no perfect religions, and certainly, they've all gone astray from the principals of peace. It's all about spirituality, if you're living in the past, you'll suffer. If you live in the present, you'll learn pain, and if you live in the future, you'll accept the Lord's grace. I see this faith in seniors, they all accept the Lord's grace, one day at a time.

Caroyn2, I watched a documentary on the middle east and the interviewer asked a politician, why there used to be advanced farming techniques and a good economy in his country 100s of years ago but no longer.
The politician explained that when the mongols reached the middle east they destroyed the farms, irrigation etc and that they have yet to fully recover.
The interviewer was stunned into silence.
I mean what do you say to that lol.
Q:Why is your country shit?
A:Because of those bloody mongols!
Truly amazing.

When our leaders no longer refer to this struggle as a conflict of ideologies, but rather acknowledge a competition of theologies; when the deafening silence of "moderate muslims" finally sinks in, then, and only then, will the choice between subjugation and extermination be obvious. maybe even in time.
eventually, the choice will be between guns OR butter, but surely not both.

How can comments about Islam be construed to, at any time, be "racist". Islam is a RELIGION not a race. Islamists can be any color or race or nationality, and are so! As we know, its far to easy to use or play the "race" card. When you want to accuse someone with almost the worst thing possible you loudly shout "bigot" or "racist" or "nazi". Liberals routinely tag conservatives and especially Christians in this manner. Imaminijihad in Iran routinely calls Jews "nazis". What a hoot! Calling Jews "nazis" wins him the nut job of the year award.
I think Hollywood liberalism or any liberalism for that matter BECOMES their "religion". Case in point--otherwise intellegent liberal Jews hate Zionism and any Jews living in Israel. Being agnostics They refuse to acknowledge the Bible that speaks of all the Diaspora Jews returning to their homeland, Israel, back to their God given covenant land. Liberalism IS their religion.
Thats why Creationism is never taught in our schools. Their could hardly be anybody MORE religious than a Darwinist on a crusade to keep Creation Science out of the schools. Faced with a ever increasing weight of scientific evidence against evolution by some of the worlds top scientists, liberals blindly continue to believe this "folly" called evolution. And they will fight you for it! The same is true of abortion.
O.T.--No--Look at the start of the article back at the top. He was convicted of stirring up RACIAL hatred. It should be religious hatred; England being a western, so called, "Christian" nation. Why does this matter???? If you say or write anything about Islam it is a characterization of a religion NOT a race! If someone says "bigot" or "racist", what do you say? You say of course not!! Im not a racist!! Actually they have just won the debate because you are now on the defensive and stammer out protestations and the focus is now on "bigoted you" instead of your critique of Islams beliefs.
Ask Robert. He's had lots of experience in this area.

"I think the authorities in Britain and elsewhere should give serious thought to placing people such as Abdul Saleem in mental institutions."
That is what the Soviets did to dissidents, so it would not be a good example to follow. It is rumored that the Cubans gave free lobotomies to dissidents in their country.
Islamic hate-mongering in the West must be stopped, but not with tactics used by Communists. I'm sure Western creativity will find an answer, and I hope soon! How about stopping Islamic immigration to Western countries?

"I take Islam – a religion which, at its best, greatly improves the lives of its adherents –"
I do believe ms Edwards is now confused - methinks she has been reading too much of the koran.
------
"Muhammad commands to despise the non-Muslims as the lowest of creatures doomed to subjugation ..."
I understand, that ole mo' taught that moslems should believe that about themselves, as well.

I would somehow describe the above sentences as avery disturbing caveat. If this is an example of the drivel churned out by British journalists, then God help us. It's another head-wrapped-in-bacofoil moment.
