The ugliest of tactics in the jihad against a hydroelectric dam. By Terry Friel for Reuters:
KABUL (Reuters) - Taliban fighters used children as human shields to flee heavy fighting this week during an operation by foreign and Afghan forces to clear rebels from around a key hydro-electric dam, NATO said on Wednesday.
The Taliban have used human shields before, but never children, local residents say.
The fighting occurred during Operation Kryptonite on Monday, an offensive to clear insurgents from the Kajaki Dam area in southern Helmand province to allow repairs to its power plants and the installation of extra capacity.
"During this action ... Taliban extremists resorted to the use of human shields. Specifically, using local Afghan children to cover as they escaped out of the area," Colonel Tom Collins, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), told reporters in Kabul.
The Kajaki Dam fighting was in an area where 700 mainly foreign fighters, including Chechens, Pakistanis and Uzbeks, arrived from Pakistan this week to reinforce Taliban guerrillas.

The Kajaki dam has seen major fighting in recent weeks between the Taliban and NATO forces, mainly British and Dutch.
NATO-led forces have been conducting operations in the area for several months to allow reconstruction on the dam and the power transmission lines to boost output, after fighting halted repair and development work last year.
The Taliban cannot destroy the dam, which would also flood a large area of the Helmand Valley, but its tactics are aimed at making it too unsafe for work to go ahead.
The dam was first built on the Helmand river in the 1950s.
Its hydroelectric plants, with a generating capacity of 33 megawatts, were installed in 1975. Once fully operational, the dam will bring electricity to 1.8 million people, NATO says.

Coalition forces should try as hard to avoid killing human shields, until it is impossible and then end the battle with more dead than one would want in a civilized world..

What's new about that? These are the followers of the same religion that set up rocket sites in residential areas in Lebanon last year.
Every time they got whacked they brought out the press to show the dummies here that the Israeli's were attacking residential houses.
Same old bullshit ploy from same old bullshit people.
Let's not forget that during the Iran/Iraq war the Iranians blessed (damned) legions of children and sent them out to clear mine fields with their bodies.

They were doing this sort of thing during the Lebanon Civil war - would launch rockets from Lebanese Christian areas knowing that Israel would strike back - a 2-fer in their book.
Any bets on this appearing in the MSM? How about on We hate --er-- Good Morning America?
Now, as then they will ignore it.

They are cowards, just as their "prophet" was. They use this tactic because, against a moral enemy, it works. That moral enemy must develop a much more realistic, if seemingly colder, mindset. We must not allow the mahometan's use of women and children to protect him. If we demonstrate to the coward that he will be bombed and strafed regardless of whether he hides among the children or whether he fights like a man, perhaps he will eventually leave the children alone.

Oh, they're so braaave, I shiver over their courage. This is one of the reasons I say to use nuclear, it'll wipe-out the cowards because there's no way to protect the innocent. I see all the innocent that lost their lives because of the hyjacking's and destruction of airliners.
There has to be a devision set between the generations of Islamics. When the age group between 10 and 40 are wiped out, this devision will bring up a new generation into the world with respect and peace.

Actually this is good news, because only a loosing faction would resort to such methods. It means NATO is successful.
It also means according to American doctrine established in the 1776 campaign in that the locals must be kept neutral or non atagonistic in order to win the war is playing out in Afghanistan. The locals there now have the Taliban stealing their children which makes the local population turn on the Taliban.
Repulsive yes, but this is a great blunder by the Taliban which will harm their efforts all through the area.
Afghanie people are very jingoistic and they will not forget.

It's time to cross over into the Northwest Frontier Province and kill a whole mess of lawless savages.
We have to demonstrate that regardless of whatever agreement that Pakistan has made with the lawless savages in the NWFP, the United States has made no such agreement.
Moreover, it's important to demonstrate to the Pakistanis that their nuclear arsenal doesn't deter us, nor is it going to prevent us crossing into the NWFP and going after satanic savages.
Once the other people in Pakistan know that the lawlessness that is allowed to continue in the NWFP involves punitive sanctions upon them, their country and economy. It will be they who finally move on the lawlessness of the NWFP.
It's a different world up there, in the Northwest Frontier.
Utterly lawless. Only tribal writ runs, only harsh custom obtains, only the word of some worthless tribal chieftain is hearkened to.
Time to crush them.

At the risk of sounding evil and cold, I have absolutely no care in the world if these women and children are killed. After all, the children are only future amunition for the muzzies, and the women are just breeders. We have to be as brutal as they are forcing us to be. It is disgusting to western values which is all the more reason to wipe this vile cancer called islam from the face of the earth. The sad reality is that people are going to have to die and their deaths will be a direct result of their own value system (islam) which is an abomination to civilized society.

Wow, what bravery! I'm awed by their courage and military genius (Okay, sarcasm off)! Here's a very good question by the way: Where are all those hypocrites and liars of the left who routinely bitch and moan about the "human rights" violations of putting panties on a captured terrorist's head? They're nowhere to be found! Even when the Mo's routinely use women and children as human shields, they have not a syllable of protest. It is only when they are killed in the crossfire (specifically because of this favorite, cowardly tactic of the Mo's), that they show their ugly, drug-induced faces to loudly condemn the United States for the "brutality" of its soldiers. Proof again, that the so-called "human rights" groups constantly condemning America are nothing but a bunch of "whores."

So the Taliban wants to destroy a hydroelectric dam? No shock there-electricity is a tool of Satan-it powers radios and TV and other unIslamic things. They can't have that.
Using kids as shields? Again, no surprise. Along with the palestinians these ghouls are the lowest of the low. If there's a way to strap explosives to infants and have them crawl toward their enemy the Taliban will find it. I hope Illah is proud of these creatures.

Pakistan-Afghanistan Express. They come over at will, but we can't go over there to end it. Smells like Vietnam or Korea where there were lines we could not go beyond, but always only we were restrained--the enemy could come across and then scurry back to escape reprisal.
(I know they bombed Hanoi with B-52s, but there was the DMZ, and we could neither go into the North nor use the proper weapons [for justifiable or unjustifiable reasons] to win those wars. That is why No. Korea is still a nuclear problem. As for Vietnam? Lots of our troops died there. For what? Idiots, utter idiots, we still have them leading us by the nose.
