"The parents of 24,000 children in northern Pakistan refused to allow health workers to administer polio vaccinations last month, mostly due to rumours that the harmless vaccine was an American plot to sterilise innocent Muslim children." -- from this article
The assorted crazinesses and conspiracy theories (I like best that well-known one about Neil Armstrong hearing the azan on the moon -- one giant step for Homo Islamicus, apparently) that are widely believed in the Islamic world provide yet another example of the susceptibility to lunatic ideas and the most absurd rumors among populations of people who have been brought up in societies where they are deliberately taught not to think.
For Islam teaches that Allah must never be questioned. The products of his will or whim are simply there. Ours not to reason why, for Allah Knows Best. And that is how the ask-mr-fatwas sites, in giving their opinions which have the effect of unappealable rulings to the inquiring ("Can I wear a bouffant hairdo?" "Can I defecate in a toilet if the water in the bowl is still?" "Can I inherit property from the parents of my 'reverted' spouse?") always conclude: Allah Knows Best.
The habit of submission in Islam (Islam means "submission") is not merely one of submission to Allah over rituals. It is a larger submission, a Total Submission. And that submission includes the habit of Mental Submission. That helps to explain why, after a very short period, in the first few centuries of Islam, that is at a time when the lands conquered by Muslims were still largely inhabited by Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians, there was here and there the transmission of discoveries made by non-Muslims (e.g., Hindu mathematicians), and also very modest development of what might be called science. The modesty of Islamic science and technology can be seen by quickly consulting any of the authoritative histories of science and technology. But one discovers that:
1) many of those involved in these scientific endeavors were either Christians or Jews, or were Muslims whose parents or grandparents had been Christians and Jews, and therefore their mental formation, and that of the societies in which they grew up, had not yet been thoroughly islmamized; and
2) the people involved held views that in most cases were dangerously un-Islamic. Ar-Razi, for example, could reasonably be described as a freethinker. In other words, what brief scientific effort there was, between, say, 800 and 1200, in what is called High Islamic Civilization, was not the product of Islam, but was rather the product of individuals, many of them not themselves molded by Islam or even believers in Islam.
The habit of mental submission leads not only to susceptibility to every kind of crank belief, or even to the entertaining of two separate and contradictory beliefs ("The Arabs could not have been responsible for 9/11/2001 and it must have been the Mossad" and "The Americans had it coming to them and they will get more of it from us"), but to a touching desire to find validation in some praise for Islam uttered here and there, over the centuries by this or that non-Muslim. For it is with a desperate eagerness that Muslims quote the list of cranks and oddballs who, in the Western world, converted or "reverted" to Islam: a French doctor, Bucaille, who treated the Saudis; Leopold Weiss (Muhammad As'ad); an upper-class twit like the son of Lord Burt, former head of the BBC; and assorted others including all the female yvonne-ridleys who have found in Muslim dress something that answers their felt need, their need to be "someone special" or that "special someone" in a world that otherwise pays them no never mind.
Muslims are inculcated with and exhibit a sense of superiority: we are Muslims, we are the Best People (cf. Qur’an 3:110), "Islam must dominate and is not to be dominated," Allah will prevail and Muslims have a right to, and will, rule everywhere. At the same time, they can see that there is something wrong with Muslim societies and polities. They can see that they have produced nothing of cultural or scientific significance, or at least they have some inkling of that. They can see that the Muslims have produced nothing, and their wealth is merely the result of an accident of geology. They can see that not only the ancient hated rival, Western Christendom (as they still regard it), long ago pulled away from them -- and so have the formerly impoverished countries of East Asia. They can see, and Arab "intellectuals" who write reports for the U.N. can identify, the failure of Arab (and other Muslim) societies to produce scientific papers, to publish books, to translate other books, to create their own universities that are semi-decent. Their societies are, culturally and artistically, failures.
But they cannot conceivably blame Islam itself for those failures. That cannot be done. They cannot point to the limits on artistic expression and mental freedom that is part of Islam. They cannot dare to note that the habit of mental submission is at the heart of Islam. So they must blame...the Infidels. They must, that is, again and again, if they are even willing to admit that something is wrong, blame those Infidels -- because otherwise they would have to blame themselves. They would have to blame what created and molded them, which is Islam.
And that they will not do.
But we, by noting all this, we the Infidels, by being aware of it ourselves, can force at least some Muslims to make that connection themselves. We need not accept blame for what is the fault of Islam. We need to do this for many reasons. We need to do it to shut off the possible appeal of Islam to the economically and psychically marginal by showing them not so much that Islam is "for losers" (an unpleasant phrase) but that Islam itself creates whole societies of "losers" -- or of those that exhibit political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures directly attributable to the teachings, the attitudes, the atmospherics of Islam.
And by understanding this ourselves in the Infidel lands, more people will be keener to recognize the nature of Jihad and the variety of its instruments. They will then better understand the full civilizational menace to themselves and their descendants of the spread of Islam and the growth of Muslim populations deep within Infidel lands.
Finally, if there is to be hope of appealing to the most intelligent Muslims, those who at least admit there is a grave problem, helping them to dare to make the connection between the failures of Islamic societies and of Islam may cause the growth of incipient self-doubt and self-questioning. This will, at the very least, weaken the hold of Islam on its brainwashed or fearful adherents, and may even cause some, especially among non-Arabs, to begin to see Islam as a vehicle of Arab imperialism, cultural, linguistic, and political, and to begin to consider returning en masse either to the faith (Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, even in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans Christianity and Judaism) of their forcibly converted ancestors, or perhaps to another belief, or no belief at all.

A prime example (in my mind) of the concept of Total Mental Submission is the use of the phrase 'inshallah' ie "God willing" used by many Muslims when asked if something will be accomplished.
I used to work for Aramco, and I heard the phrase on a regular basis by my Saudi Arab coworkers. Never could get a solid yes or no. This idea of Total Mental Submission means that the Muslim lacks the concept of a free will. And a free will is key part of the Western mind.

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY - Islam means submission or slavery.
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH - The followers of Islam generally speaking, are truly the most ignorant people on earth. Their religion limits their ability to study other texts with an open mind.

Right on Hugh
I think its so telling that Muhammad Asad (Leopold Weiss) spent the rest of his life in europe and is buried in Spain istead of one of his Islamic paradises. Many Muslims don't know that he lived like a kafir for his later days, and had a crisis of faith. You can feel the tension in his last book, and his aborted inventive apalogetic translation of Buhkari. His is quoted to have said around the time of his death something like, "if the muslim world and muslims were like today back when i converted, then I never would have." His Koranic translation has alot of Muhammed Abduh and his own wishful thinking. I think he made up his own Islam for himself. His Islam was something romantic like in his autobiography akin to Iqbal's. Anyway, what ever it was, it ran out of steam at the end of his life.

It is a mistake to include Islam in conspiracy and craziness theories as it is a theology of a belief system with absolutes.
People can believe JFK was capped by Lyndon Johnson, but they will not go out and massacre people in trying to convert them.
People can believe NASA never went to the moon and yet houses of worship are not built to it.
Islam is no different than the Alex Jones, Steve Quayle, Jeff Rense, Cindy Sheehan psychopathy. It is a group of people with low self esteem and feeling helpless who are empowered by anarchy and common created enemies which gives the person purpose.
One might note that these crazy "theories" which Islam quotes often come from western anarchists on their websites and books they publish. bin Laden is adept at quoting his favorite western kooks.
A coup on an American president is just as effective if it is whispering campaign of Bush being a drunk by Al Franken on John Stewart with Americans cheering to Zawahiri quoting the same story to bombing Muslims in Iraq.
Conspiracy and craziness is the world, but Islam is much deeper as all anarchist belief systems are, but conspiracy buffs relish in the knowing....but Islam has followers who relish in the acting out of violence.

Comics Joking About Islam Live in Fear
16 February 2007
AMSTERDAM — Actor and stand-up comedian Hans Teeuwen has launched a solidarity campaign to support his colleague Ewout Jansen, who has been receiving death threats from Muslim extremists because of his jokes, De Volkskrant writes.
Teeuwen says he finds it difficult to unite all fellow-comedians as one force, for many seem to be afraid to speak out for the "freedom of humour". Every comedian's agenda tells you the exact time and place where he is going to perform. One or two phone calls with threats and he cannot perform at ease any more, Teeuwen explains.
Teeuwen will act as the spokesperson for the cabaret duo Ewout Jansen en Etiënne Kemerink, to distract the attention now focused on Jansen.

Thanks, Hugh, for a very thoughtful essay. If Fayez want to ask Allah about how long to grow his beard and thinks that he gets the answer...fine, grow it as long as he thinks will please Allah. But, if Fatima, in Pakistan, decides that her six children will not have the polio vaccine, and a outbreak occurs, will she just shrug and say, "Inshallah?" Or, will she take the children to a UN clinic or USAID clinic and demand that they deal with the terrible medical problems that her children have because of her bad decision that she made based on her submission to the will of Allah? Or, if she has some money, will she and a couple of her children fly to her brother's home in Davenport,IA, where they will sicken there, taken to an emergency room, and have months of treatment, thanks to the US taxpayer? Submission to Allah seems to bring higher and higher costs to the infidels in the West; think of the families of the five victims in Salt Lake City..they too are living with and suffering from one 18 year old Muslim's submission to the will of Allah.

Interesting that he said of his anti-Zionist stance, "I considered it immoral that immigrants, assisted by a foreign Great Power, should come from abroad with the avowed intention of attaining to majority in the country and thus to dispossess the people whose country it had been since time immemorial."

Sorry, can't resist more from about Asad:
'Few in the Muslim world took notice of Asad's passing. He had argued for a rational Islam; he had sought to reconcile Islamic teachings and democracy; he had tried to make the Qur'an speak to modern minds.
Unlike so many other Western converts to Islam, Asad chose also to live in Muslim societies, and worked to give Islam direction. But by advocating this reform, Asad remained a foreign body in contemporary Islam, a transplant rejected time and again by his hosts.
Paradoxically, Asad won genuine acclaim in the West. There he found minds open to his ideas, and opportunities to publish and lecture. And there he ultimately found refuge from the late twentieth-century reality of Islam.'
http://www.geocities.com/martinkramerorg/WeissAsad.htm
Which all brings up the question, "Is Islam reformable?" with it's possibly depressing answer for lovers of Western culture.

I don't know about the bath water part. Have you ever ridden in a subway car or bus with a bunch
of Muslims who are holding on to the steady bar overhead?
Actually it's nano-technology that will provide the real relief. Tiny little things that will inject themselves into the bloodstreams of the target people and wreak all kinds of havoc. Depends on what they are programmed to do.
They are already here.
Then there is that non-lethal micro-wave weapon they demonstrated recently that makes you think you are burning up. Do you really think they have not developed a 'lethal' version of it?
I heard that the company who makes those hats that mullahs wear has put GPS and listening devices in them.
I somehow suspect that the recent ruling that because alcohol is banned on school campuses that Florida students are no longer allowed to bring those little bottles of hand sanitizers to school had something to do with Islam. I wonder whose idea that was. Now they are trying to kill Our children too. With an expected worldwide epidemic of Flu? Just ducky.

The semi-demented Leopold Weiss, who became Muhammad As'ad, has given his name to the first half of the name given to a certain mental condition, first identified at this website, and now known to Infidels world-wide as the "Weiss-Schwartz Syndrome." As to the second half, the black to the white, the chornij to the belij, the kara to the akyol, I'll leave that up to you to figure out.
Google "Weiss-Schwartz Syndrome" and "Jihad Watch" for more.

I heard the exact same thing from my highly placed sources. I didn't believe it until now, when you have just confirmed it. It must be true. All Muslims living in the US who don't immediately flee will soon be sterilized by the government. Muslims have not cornered the market of looney conspiracy theories. Discovery Channel, or one similar, had a full hour about the theories that the US did not go to the moon, much less land on it. These proponents of this mindless drivel were educated WASPs, supposedly. Don't forget all the stuff written about the Kennedy assination. When I was about 10 years old, there were endless articles written about James Dean not being dead. Of course Buford Pusser, late sheriff of McNairy County Tennessee, was killed by the FBI or drug dealers or whatever. The infamous Alex Jones is another non-Muslim purveyor of all kinds of conspiracy junk.
The problem with Muslim conspiracy theories is that there are so many of them, gullible Mohammedans that is.

When muslims's furnaces and air conditioners brake down, government spys put in non detectable gases that causes sterily in muslims, and later on in years it causes any deep thoughts of jihad to become comics with a great thirst for Johnny Walker wiskey or terrible Niagara Ice wines, if they dont go for those there is the Moslen and Blue light for the blue collar muslim.

That is why we do not need to fear a well-organized Muslim invasion that militarily conquers the U.S. Their capability is limited to destruction, they cannot create. Their strength comes from turning our strengths against ourselves: our reliance on technology, our legal system that allows anyone to drag anyone into an expensive and time-consuming proceeding, our internal political divisions and loyalties, our political candidates' reliance on big-donor funding to get elected, our powerful economy that incidentally is completely dependent on petro-fuel, our desire to avoid collatoral damage in wartime at any cost, our desire to open our borders to the poor tired huddled masses of the world regardless of their ideology, etc. etc. etc.
They are not strong, we are weak, BUT we are only as weak as we allow ourselves to be. It is a self-imposed weakness. Each and every one of those issues above can be addressed, if/when we choose to.
We don't have to turn our society into a despotic police state, we just need to follow our Founding Fathers' lead. They knew that it is not immoral to act in our own best interest. In fact, acting in our own best interest is exactly what we should require of our leaders, they apparently need to be reminded of who they are representing. They need to be reminded that their constituency does not live in Kabul or Ryaadh or Baghdad or Islamabad. They need to be informed that fawning over those false constituencies is not necessarily in the best interest of their true constituency. We deserve that much. We built and financed and fought and died to protect this society. We deserve that much.

If the Pakistanis choose to stop vaccinations due to religious belief, that is their right. But it is our right to stop taking responsibility for their choices. USAID and hospitals in Davenport should not pay the price for the Pakistanis' decisions. We need to focus on protecting our own interests, and let the Islamic world take care of theirs.

The paranoid moslem mind, one has to encounter moslems personally, close up before one can believe the daft, irrational, illogical paranoia.
They are honestly so full of submission that they cannot see the contradiction in their beliefs.
I went to a school in London which was 90 % south asian.
A spilt between Indians (sikhs/hindus) and moslems (paks/Banglas), the rest were white and black.
For some strange reason only the moslems suffered "racism/discrimmination"
Why it didn't bother the Indians was something they could never explain, why did we all go on to work in the city in IT, Finance or pursue business ?
Why did they end up as cab drivers and not us?
Why did they utter absurd statements like
"it was the moslems who made India" and yet when asked "how come you can't make your own countries" would have no reply ?
How could they blame the British Empire and imperialism for the woes of the islamic world and yet be proud of the moghul and ottoman empires.
It really has to be expeienced personally to believed.
Amazing 1.5 billion people totally unable to think.

Don't accept and repeat the figures of Muslims. The correct figure is much closer to 1 billion. If you must give a large figure, then certainly stick with 1.2 billio at the outside. amd even this figure is based on the assumption that every person who has not openly declared himself a non-Muslim in a Muslim country must, therefore, be a Muslim. But of course that isn't true, and we all know why.

While most sensible Muslim authorities recognise the value of polio vaccination, resistance by local mullahs, particularly in Nigeria, make it very difficult to eradicate it totally, the way that smallpox was. This resistance is either based on a supposed US conspiracy to sterilise Muslims, or infect them with aids, or on the vaccine being made using monkey tissue and thus being haram. People flocking to Mecca from every corner of the world has been mentioned as a possible route of re-infection from one global backwater to the back of beyond on another continent.Because this resistance is a threat to world health the EU is financing a trip to Egypt for several Nigerian imams to see how an Islamic country with a more enlightened policy has managed to rid itself of the disease, and to discuss Islamic law on the subject, with al-Azhar experts, at the same time.

Mus huntcowboy: "Well spotted. Muselimes tend to increase their population by the mother lode when it comes to telling the world 'how many they are?'"
It took awhile for me to understand WHY precisely it is that Muslims are doing this - exaggerating their numbers, especially in the west. But now I understand clearly why. It is because they understand the way politics works in the west. By exaggerating their numbers they give the illusion that western politicians depend on their votes in order to win elections. That forces naive politicians to actually pay attention to what Muslims are saying and to adjust their policies accordingly, if they want to be elected. In short, by peddling these exaggerated demographic numbers, Muslims are playing us. It's a lie. A clever lie, yes, but a lie nonetheless. Don't fall for it. In fact, a central strategy for the anti-jihad forces ought to be to consistently level low ball figures for the actual number of Muslims in our countries.

Why is it up to the Europeans to fund this type of activity? Why aren't the Saudis and the other Persian Gulf oil-states using a smidgen of their oil billions to fund this attempt to improve their fellow-believers' health?
And why should the Nigerians believe the Egyptians, who regard black Africans as little better than animals?

American_sodier and Vee,
Thanks for pointing me to Leo Weiss aka Asad
In the link to Martin Kramer's piece on Weiss, one verse from the koran that brought on his "enlightenment" shows how Mohammed's life was at odds with "Allah's" teachings:
"You are obsessed by greed for more and more / Until you go down to your graves." And then later, in the same verse: "Nay, if you but knew it with the knowledge of certainty, / You would indeed see the hell you are in."
Qur'an, 102 (Surat al-Takathur). The translation is Asad's (Leo Weis's).
102.001
YUSUFALI: The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),
PICKTHAL: Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you
SHAKIR: Abundance diverts you,
102.002
YUSUFALI: Until ye visit the graves.
PICKTHAL: Until ye come to the graves.
SHAKIR: Until you come to the graves.102.006
102.006
YUSUFALI: Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!
PICKTHAL: For ye will behold hell-fire.
SHAKIR: You should most certainly have seen the hell;
One who robbed and was a lecher and enslaver and pedophile appears to be false to himself, a prime example of "Do as I say, not as I do."
This apparent "permission" from Allah for everything that Mohammed wanted (mostly women and girl-children but robbery was ok also) is brilliantly encapsulated by the novelist Richard Grenier:
"Mohammed struck me as a kind of a gamey figure for a religious leader, I mean for a man God spoke to personally. I didn’t know what to make of him really, sort of a blend of Saint Teresa of Avila, Jane Addams of Hull House, William the Conqueror, and Casanova. . . . When he has his midlife crisis Mohammed gets the Call, and has visions, and goes into a trance and Allah dictates all these Suras [chapters] to him, which together make up the Koran. And either Mohammed is plagiarizing the Bible like mad and is a hysterical plagiarist or it’s one hell of a coincidence. . . . He’s always praying to Allah for guidance and if Mohammed really wants something bad enough you get the impression Allah is going to tell him it’s okay. I mean Allah can’t seem to say no to him."
[Richard Grenier, The Marrakesh One-Two (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1983), pp. 5-7. The movie Ishtar is loosely based on the story in The Marrakesh One-Two.]

This is one of the best and most accurate autopsies of Mohammed, the founder of an ideology that he fashioned to support his brigandry, yen for lots of captive women, girl children, etc.

Ha,ha, ha. This is such fun, this thread. Oh, Foolish Ones, just how is the water supply going to be poisoned for one set of people, without poisoning it for ALL of us? How is water going to be contained without syphoning into the water table?

Is it my imagination or has my original post now disappeared off this thread? So after well over 1 1/2 years of posting here, I've finally had my first post deleted. I guess that means I haven’t said anything too controversial thus far so I suppose I’ll look on the bright side.
Thanks to special_guest and auntbea and zena who actually got the joke. Sure, I was a bit dismayed by those who actually bought into such a ridiculous conspiracy theory (a chemical which could actually make women promiscuous? Puleese...), but quite frankly, my post was wholly on target for the topic of this thread and moreover, merely demonstrates how easily such a tactic could actually be employed against our enemies. And frankly, isn't non-violent deception, which takes advantage of the enemy's basic weakness (namely their fundamental irrationality), a better approach than bullets?

(Oh yeah - except for that snide comment about Ted Kennedy. That disappeared too. Maybe that means that Ted Kennedy is a "sacred cow." That's probably 1/2 true, just not the "sacred" half...)

Well, Caroline, you really let the cat out of the bag. At least you didn't name the antidote. Posted by: ebonystoneebonystone
The antidote is a variant of RU486 - it's called the RUPentium.
Incidentally, where's Caroline's original post?

Man, just when I've thought I've heard it all...
I can just imagine those villagers running rampant with pitch-pine torches at night, baying for the blood of the Infidel innoculators. And when somebody mentions "Frau Blucher", you can hear a distant whinnying..
