Some stand on streetcorners and hand out religious tracts. Some use different methods of persuasion. "Cabbie Runs Down Students: Religious Argument Leaves One Hospitalized," from WSMV.com, with thanks to Jerry:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A local cab driver allegedly tried to run over two customers after a fight over religion became heated. The incident happened early Sunday morning on the Vanderbilt campus and left one man hospitalized and a cab driver arrested, said police
Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police. After they paid the driver he allegedly ran them down in a parking lot.
Ibrihim Ahmed, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. One of the passengers, Andrew Nelson, managed to outrun the cab but Jeremy Invus was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries, said police....

his faith mustve been so strong that he felt that he had to finish the argument with trying to kill them? obviously they rubbed him up the wrong way. maybe they pointed out the fact that islam is not the religion of peace. these stories only reinforce the belief that muslims are extremely dangerous when you question or criticise their religion.
it also reinforces my judgement that most americans will not put up with this crap. europeans will take it until they really do get a good ball kicking then its game over, another stalin, hitler, oliver cromwell, that kind of thing.
but this article doesn't really go into detail on what was actually said, or if they used physical violence towards this cabbie. i'd be interested in more links. but i'm gonna google this over the week and see what was really said. i'll keep y'all posted

If the students were armed like they were supposed to be, there would not have been a car used as a weapon. The situation would have ended at the first push of an accelerator.
That is what the Second Ammendment is for.

As a graduate student at Vanderbilt several years ago, I can attest to the fact that about 75% of the cab drivers in Nashville are Somalis.
I do know that on one of my rides in a cab with at Somali driver, I asked him what Somalia was like. He almost went ape-shit on me and I didn't even bring up Islam.
I always did wonder how a bunch of Somalis ended up in Nashville. Perhaps they were just big Johnny Cash fans.

I have seen this story twice here in the Nashville area, there appears to have been no physical confrontation between the cabbie and the 2 guys before he tried to murder them. They paid their fares and were walking away when he ran them down. I wonder if they thought they were just having one of those spirited religious debates we used to be able to enjoy here in America and didn't realize they were creating a holy warrier up in the front seat. This is the 2nd act of jihad in Nashville, the bible belt, the heartland, etc. The first was the donut shop employee who tried to buy grenades and AKs so he could wage jihad.
It's not on the west coat, or the east coast, it's in my backyard. Well, great.

That's odd. There is no mention of the word "Islam" or "Muslim" in the entire article. It was a "fight over religion", so religion seems to be part of the story, but the reporters didn't think it was worth mentioning which religion. Or they didn't think it was politically correct. To tell us the facts. Even though that is their job. To tell us the facts.

And that's why I'm a little wary of starting up conversations with random Muslims about the Qu'ran, their damned prophet, among other things. What if that Muslima student who sits next to me in Psych 40 finds out which dorm hall I live in and tries to murder me? What if that seemingly nice old Pakistani shopkeeper has a gun under the counter and pulls it out on me when I start talking about the Qu'ran? What if I go to a mosque open house and the imam can't keep his act going for long and blows his top off? I probably won't have a better chance of not getting attacked even if I were polite. I would probably get the same treatment as two (possibly) drunk college students.

Why should I be politically correct? Why must I respect them? Why is it okay to insult Christians and Jews in the media?
A simple cartoon spawns deaths and riots. LAME! I am sick of this. THIS IS WHAT I HATE!! Read your history! The Western Roman Empire could not control its borders. The Western Roman Empire couldn't raise an army. In the end, they went without a fight. Sound familiar????
My beloved Europe is going fast. France is already gone. All over England and Ireland, mosques are appearing far too quickly. Italy and Spain don't have the will to fight. They are destroying Western Civilization thru immigration. Why can we not discuss this? As soon as we do, the media calls us racists! I HATE THAT!
Funny how the whole world hates the Yanks……. It is strange. Say what you want about George; however, without the Yanks....The World falls. So, I will support the Americans. I truly do not hold out much hope for Western Civilization. I WILL NEVER KNEEL IN A MOSQUE!!!

What is it with "news" reporters and not mentioning the word "muslim" when a muslim commits a violent act? Other religions get mentioned, as pointed out on the main page.
Seriously, it's become so common now that it's laughable. Even if you don't have a typically muslim name in the story, if the religion isn't mentioned, or is only alluded to, you can pretty much bet it's a muslim. The Salt Lake story is a perfect example.
Is EVERY news reporter and paper in America so weak minded and/or politically correct (i.e. brainwashed) that they all do the same exact thing?
It's really beyond silliness now.
What's next, a followup story saying police haven't started their investigation yet, but they are already 100% sure that it had nothing to do with hate for the kufir, jihad, terrorism or anything at all to do with islam? It's amazing what can be determined these days before an investigation even begins...

Last year I put up a posting about occupations -such as that of airline pilot -- that in Infidel lands would have to be off-limits to Muslims, for there was sufficient evidence to worry about security.
Here is that posting:
"In the Western world, what can Muslims be allowed to do, and what must they be prevented from doing? Clearly, anyone who claims that he takes his worldview from the Qur'an, and the Hadith, and the model of Muhammad, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil, must be taken seriously. We, the Infidels, have to find out what it means to derive your worldview from the Qur'an, the Hadith, the biography of Muhammad. We cannot guess at this. We cannot assume that Islam, more or less, must be just like other religions, or other belief-systems that are called religions. We have to find out. We cannot find out by listening to Muslims who practice taqiyya-and-tu-quoque. And since the actual contents of Qur'an and Hadith and Sira are, for Infidels, so horrifying in what they directly express and in what they imply, anyone aware of the contents of Islam, the tenets of Islam, the attitudes to which Islam not distortedly but naturally gives rise, must -- however charming, however mild-mannereed, however seemingly acceptalbe in all other respects, must be held to a knowledge of, and acceptance, what is contained in that Qur'an, those Hadith, that model of the Perfect Man.
What then can we allow Muslims in our societies, whether they come from Muslim countries, or happen to have been allowed to settle here, or are among those targetted for the campaigns of Da'wa among disaffected, alienated, psychically or economically marginal people all over the West (from the ditzy lord to the melancholy bicycle-delivery boy, the first looking for an explanation and justification of his upper-class-twit existence, and the second trying to find a structure for his existence, something that will order him about from dawn to dusk, and what's more, provide a grid for viewing the universe and a convenient scapegoat -- the Infidel -- for everything).
We cannot allow them to study, obviously, nuclear physics. We cannot allow them, obviously, to study those aspects of biology, or chemistry, or materials science, that might aid in the manufacture of weapons. Dr. A. Q. Khan in Holland, and Drs. Germs and Anthrax (examples of the liberated Iraqi women who under the previous regime were allowed to study in Great Britain, and bring their deadly knowledge home). We cannot allow them to study encryption, or very much to do with computers beyond the most elementary bits. We cannot allow them to work for any companies or in any academic departments where they might acquire such knowledge. We cannot allow them to be airline pilots, or part of an airplane crew. We cannot allow them to run our busses or trains. For now we think we can allow them to drive taxis -- but think of a taxi plowing in to a "Salute to Israel" parade, or into this or that gathering of Infidels for any reason, should someone have a lapsus. We cannot allow them, can we, to sort the mail (anthrax), or even to deliver it, if they will find mail not to their liking, or decide to target those who receive that mail not to their liking. We cannot allow them to engage in the indoctrination of our children, whether small or in universities, if they will continue to fill the minds of the unwary ("Gosh, Prof. Khalidi or Prof. Farooq or Prof. Dabashi" is "really brilliant" and "I learned so much about Islam." I'll bet you did.).
We cannot allow them to rise in government where they might sit on key Congressional commmittees, or sit in on meetings of high officers, and learn all kinds of things about potential war plans, or even about where weapons are stored, and how. We cannot allow them to treat, in some cases, Infidels if we have reason to believe that at any minute, for reasons we do not understand, a formerly mild-mannered doctor, supposedly as gentle and sweet as the next, has under his knife someone who suddenly, to him, represents the Infidel at his most evil, his most Shaytanic.
We cannot allow them to take over newspapers, or rise high in television, if we think, if we know, that they will subtly or not-so-subtly engage in propaganda to prevent our right understanding of Islam. Look at the effect, in the BBC, or some of the French papers, of large contingents of Muslims in the Arabic-language services, and the effect such people must have on non-Muslim colleagues.
We cannot allow them to...
Well, you think about it. You fill in the rest. You decide if, upon studying the contents of this belief-system, what functions and jobs you think it reasonable to entrust to those who still claim, who still identify themselves, as Muslims.
[Posted by: Hugh at August 10, 2006 08:30 PM]
Here is the excerpt most relevant to the Nashville attempt of murder by taxi:
"For now we think we can allow them to drive taxis -- but think of a taxi plowing in to a "Salute to Israel" parade, or into this or that gathering of Infidels for any reason, should someone have a lapsus."

It is ironic some of the dumbest ideas about what to do about Islam come out of main stream Christian churches? I went to a talk several weeks ago by a prominent Presbyterian minister who was convinced that the only way for peace between Muslims and the rest of the world was for Israel to give the West Bank away and that would solve everything.
He also went to lengths to explain to me that Jihad was an inner spiritual struggle. When I asked him why people who blow themselves up cite the Koran as inspiration, he waved his hands around in circles and made sound but no words came out. Some sort of Jedi mind trick I believe. Apparently he did not have the droids I was looking for.
I understand the love thy neighbor thing but would Jesus really invite someone who is sworn to kill him to be his neighbor? Not to mention that killing with kindness is much less effective than a car bomb.

RE: [Posted by: Hugh at August 10, 2006 08:30 PM]
Brilliant synopsis of how untrustworthy we must regard Muslims as being, Hugh. This is not to say that some Muslims, or even many, are wholly honorable and unworthy of the suspicions mentioned in your August post (so to speak). Yet, the simple question remains; "How can anyone ever tell for sure?"
If Muslims wish to complain about being held suspect in nearly every walk of life more important than, say, a ditch digger (oops, what about burying landmines or IEDs?), they need only ask themselves about taqqiya, kitman or whatever.
Taqiyya represents an ultimate moral and ethical lapse in character that is tantamount to a crime against humanity. This offense is of such magnitude that it cannot possibly be disregarded or dismissed. Taqqiya allows for such an unfair advantage in daily negotiations, transactions and all worldly dealings that the integrity of anybody even remotely suspected of upholding this vile tenet must be discounted and held suspect, if for no other reason.
Even the near deaf can most likely hear strident shouts of "bigotry", "Islamophobia" and "racism" (especially racism), rising from the gallery. Shall common sense be drowned out by the cries of those who might use any and all sorts of subterfuge to dissemble against true honor and good faith?
Most ironic of all is how taqqiya does not even top the list of Islam's actual shortcomings. Abject gender apartheid, pursuit of global cultural genocide and theocratic governance all supercede taqqiya in terms of objectionable status, if such a thing is possible. Yet, taqqiya remains a profound stumbling block, even amidst a brood of such overwhelmingly repugnant monstrosities.

People often remark about the servile nature of the mainstream media. Those of us who want to know what is going on in the world do not rely on the MSM for information. It follows that the majority (?) who do rely- heavily or exclusively- on the MSM either don't know any better or wish to remain ignorant. The way to reach these folks is by a gradual "enlightenment", one by one, rather than by trying to converting the media. In other words, we can let go of worrying about their jihadenial.
It would indeed be satisfying to know what was said between the two parties that night. I hope it will be forthcoming. In the meantime I'll stick with the bus.

They ended up in Nashville for the same reason they ended up in Dearbon Michigan, Washington D.C., and cities all up and down the East coast.
The Congressional Black caucus screamed "Racism", and demanded that the flood gates be opened to immigration from Africa. And of course the social engineers weighed in with the usual dogmas about the great benefits of multiculturalism and diversity to our society.
Those argumens, plus Clinton in the the White house, is all it really took.
It should freeze anyones blood to contemplate an Obama in the white house and the Democrats in control of the Congress.
Generations of Americans fought and died to preserve this country and its culture, and this generation is so fearful of being called an Islamophobe or Racist that it throws it away.

It is a dangerous and self-deluding mistake to focus only on suicide attacks in Israel and Iraq. That makes us forget that the carnage is not so much about us but about a them - a them that is even more dangerous to other Muslims than it is to us in the West.
From Pakistan today:
A SUICIDE bomber in Pakistan killed 16 people, including a judge, in a courtroom in the city of Quetta overnight in the latest attack in a series of suicide blasts to have sent shudders through the country.
Intelligence officials have attributed other attacks to sectarian Sunni militants linked to al-Qaeda and groups operating from tribal areas, regarded as hotbeds of support for the Taliban.
From Iran yesterday:
Police and insurgents clashed after a bombing in southeastern Iran late Friday near the site where an explosion killed 11 members of the elite Revolutionary Guards this week, Iranian news agencies reported…
A Sunni Muslim militant group called Jundallah, or God’s Brigade, which has been blamed for past attacks on Iranian troops, has claimed responsibility for the Wednesday bombing, AP noted.
From Turkey yesterday:
A Turkish court has sentenced seven suspected Al-Qaeda militants to life in prison for their roles in suicide bomb attacks that killed scores of people in Istanbul in 2003.
From Algeria yesterday:
A deadly and carefully planned series of bomb attacks in Algeria by an al-Qaida affiliate may signal a new escalation in violence that many Algerians hoped had abated, experts say…
Towns across the Kabylie region awoke Tuesday to a series of seven bombings, some car explosions, that largely targeted police stations. Six people were killed and about 30 injured.
From Lebanon on Thursday:
At least three people were killed and 20 injured when bombs packed with metal pellets tore through two buses traveling on a highway Tuesday, February 13, near the Christian mountain town of Bikfaya northeast of Beirut, Lebanese officials said.
From the Phillipines today:
Police in the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao are now on alert after receiving an intelligence report that terrorists are planning to bomb buses and attack the transport sector there…
Meanwhile, South Korea has warned its citizens not to travel to Mindanao because of possible bombings by the Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist groups.
From Thailand on Friday:
Suspected insurgents shot a village head in a mosque during Friday prayers in Thai southernmost province of Pattani, while eight rangers and police officers were wounded in two bomb blasts in Yala.
From Indonesia on Saturday:
Security forces are on highest alert in Indonesia’s restive Central Sulawesi province following warnings that militants may be planning attacks, the region’s police chief said on Friday…
Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim country, has in recent years been hit by a series of bomb blasts blamed on Islamic militants.
From Eritrea today:
Hundreds of Islamist fighters were flown, with Eritrean assistance, from Somalia to Syria and Libya for military training. Others were taken to Lebanon to fight with Hezbollah, the report to the UN security council has revealed.
There is a pattern here, and I mean more than the absence of any wickedness by Westerners.
at February 19, 2007 1:26 AM
Off-topic, but relevant to the general theme. News just in: Islamic extremists in Thailand have killed seven people and injured more than 60 people attacking places where Thai-Chinese would be celebrating the Lunar New Year. Two public schools were also torched.
Update: Extremists launch overnight wave of violence

Seven people are dead and more than 60 wounded in the biggest wave of coordinated bombings, terrorism and murders ever reported across the four southernmost provinces. A bomb this morning in Yala town raised the death toll to eight.
At least 28 bombs and three murders targetted foreign tourist sites, Thai-Chinese celebrating the Lunar New Year, hotels, karaoke bars, power grids, telephone lines and commercial sites in the country's southernmost provinces. Two public schools were torched.

Quite correct, rational! As well as other westerners and due respect to Hindus, Sikhs and of course, Israelis and others who have suffered for western values, freedom and democracy.

We cannot let America go down.It isn't an option.

More on this winner...
Ahmed has been convicted of misdemeanors including evading arrest in a motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license, said police.
Ahmed was charged with theft because police said the license plate on his cab was listed as stolen. His bond is set at $300,000.

With a Muslim's complete disregard for any infidel laws, a closer look at the validity of driver and vehicle licenses of all Muslim cab drivers might be revealing. Is an unlicensed, or fraudulently licensed cab, or driver, still covered by insurance should passengers be killed or injured in the case of an accident? Obviously Muslim cab drivers are not too concerned with their passengers safety, unless of course, they are Muslims

I'm beginning to think that this is what it will take in the long run. Lots and lots of traditional holidays mucked up and ruined by a few murderous fanatically religious spoilsports who just can't bear the sight of other people actually having a bit of fun.

"A DRIVER spent two nights in jail after being accused of "revving his car in a racist manner".
Mechanic Ronnie Hutton, 49, yesterday described his court ordeal which finally ended when prosecutors dropped the allegation of racism.
But he was still convicted of a breach of the peace for revving the engine of his £25,000 Lotus.
Witnesses claimed he had been trying to intimidate a Libyan couple on the pavement. Ronnie, of Stirling, claims he was only revving the powerful V8 engine to avoid another £15,000 repair bill.
But off-duty Chief Inspector Eoin Jenkins thought he was targeting Muslim Isam Maigel and his wife Hana Saad."

Hugh your theory of not allowing muslims in key positions of government, schools, etc is logical, but in the real world of this Western pc climate would never happen. it would drastic decisions, and l do not see this happening anytime soon. l believe that muslim strife has to get so bad unfortunately before islam perhaps if we are lucky enough to be banned from western society. This will take many more deaths, and a very honest view on islam by our so called political elites, how will the ACLU look at this? we will have to ban them as well.

I took a taxi home on sunday morning at 5am.
I got into a discussion with the driver, Irfan 24 Muslim, British born. We pulled over to the side of the road and talked for 2 hours about the UK, about islam and about differences in our society.
He compared the UK to the neighbour who had been seen counting his money, everyone knew where he kept the key and it was 'there for the taking'
I asked whether that meant islam promoted stealing and he suggested i was mocking islam.
I asked whether he regarded women as equal, he laughed 'Do you?' he said. 'The woman is not as intelligent and has been made inferior, why would I?' he said. He told me that man was given the power to do what he wants with regard to the woman walking down the street.
We spoke for 2 hours and to be honest, none of the content of what he said surprised me, what did surprise me was how open he was about his prejudices and his beliefs.
Admittedly we had agreed we would speak freely and perhaps in another situation he would not have spoken so openly.
I think my point is, when I have had conversations with non-muslim friends and colleagues, many of them have felt it necessary to deny obvious and apparent facts, or make excuses for the extremities of islamic teachings, when it seems those that those that follow the islamic ideology have no such intention and are openly both adamant and unapologetic.
We need more debate, we need people to learn what islam is about from those that follow it, not from people who would make excuses to keep their and our eyes closed.

I posted this once alread on Jihadwatch, but it fits perfectly with this post.
I am an american, living in Bonn, the former capitol of Germany.
Last Thursday (4 days ago), I was in a taxi and made a cell call with a friend and spoke with him in english (this is rare for me these days). The taxi driver, an egyptian, asked me calmly if I am an american, and I, not thinking anything about it, said yes.
And then all hell broke loose.
The man started screaming at me: "scheiß Amerika, scheiß Amerikaner, scheiß Bush" (shitty america, shitty americans, shitty Bush), "ihr seit alle der Teufel und im Bett mit den schmutzigen Juden" (you are all the devil and in bed with those dirty jews), etc etc etc.
I became furious and fast, called the taxi-central , demanded to speak with the boss, explained to the boss what had happened, gave me cell phone to the bloody egyptian, who has given instructions by his boss to stop at the main train station and let me change cabs for free.
For a moment I was really quite afraid for my life. I thought the guy was going to punch me or ram the taxi into a tree.
Goes to show how the hatred is just seething under the surface the whole time and how "normal" looking muslims can suddenly just flip-out.
Frankly, I have had it with their bullshit. Enough is enough.
Their God is not my God. Their God is not my God of love and longsuffering. Their attempted theft of two other religions doesn't mean diddlysquat to me. And their bestial behaviour proves every concern that has been voiced over our friendly, loving muslim neighbors.
Don't trust them. Their Qu'ran gives them a license to kill.
disgusting. pathetic.

Avoiding such arguments (about "religion") out of fear of irrational retaliation isn't going to accomplish much. Quite the contrary. We're at war with a group of people that don't need armies; they're all in the army. We've seen how effective our military can be when arrayed against an identifiable enemy with a clear objective, but this is asymmetric war. We can't rely on the military to win it alone. The rest of us need to fight, too, like it or not.
My question is: What are our options? A few have been mentioned or implied in this thread:
Obviously, our legal system, at least as it presently stands, renders such options problematic. There must be some other things we could do. For one thing, I think we should hammer Muslims them for intolerance, and try to use political correctness to our advantage. They're gay-haters, Jew-haters, and clearly favor discrimination against women, and in marriage and dating. Those are positions that aren't supposed to be tolerable in enlightened liberal states. Stupid as political correctness is, we might be able to use it against them just as effectively as they use it against us.
How about another angle? What would happen if 1000 or even 100 blog-readers from across the country simply showed up to attend Friday night prayers at their local mosque some week? Would they be welcomed or refused entry? Is it even legal to refuse such visits? Would there be a confrontation? Violence? If such visits started happening week after week, everywhere, and growing, the message would be sent that we're curious about Islam, and about what they do and talk about there. Seems like it could be a moderating influence, not to mention a demonstration that we're not all cowards. Anyone know what to expect, so as not to be surprised by the people who should themselves be surprised? No shoes, right? Anything else? Do they sit in chairs or pews or what?
Just thinking out loud about things average people can do. I'd be interested in anyone's ideas on this point, or any references to works that have been published or posted anywhere.

(Below is a story left by a poster at LGF on 2/18/2007 10:27PM PST)
"About 25 years ago my father got in a cab on north Michigan Avenue in Chicago, in a hurry to get to a meeting a few miles further north in Lincoln Park. Traffic was heavy, and as the cab descended into the tunnel leading to north Lake Shore Drive, the line of cars came to a complete halt.
"I hope we're not stuck here for long," said my father. "I have an appointment in about fifteen minutes."
The cabbie said, "I think you will be on time, but the will of Allah may be different. Do you accept the will of Allah?"
"I prefer not to discuss personal matters like religion with people I've just met," said my father. The traffic still hadn't moved.
"I see," said the cabbie. "But do you know that if you do not accept the will of Allah, then you are preferring death to life?"
In the middle of a dark tunnel full of traffic with no pedestrian walkway and daylight at least a quarter mile away, my father grabbed his briefcase, got out of the cab, walked back to Michigan Avenue, and hailed another cab."

I wonder if orders from the White House have been issued regarding the treatment of news stories involving Muslim violence in the USA.
The powers-that-be may have decided that too much truthfulness in reporting could inflame the seething hatred that many informed Americans already have for the twisted ideology of extremist Islam.
Perhaps they feel that this battle will enter the streets if more of us know the extent of Islamic intolerance and violence opposing us regularly.
So the MSM follows the toned-down omission pattern established by the EU media, but to no avail...the jihad advances daily around the world and on our own soil, regardless of how we call it out in the press.
By attempting to protect us from ourselves, our leaders do us a great disservice by postponing the inevitable.
How many more must die before the "confront, curtail, contain, comport" elements are undertaken by citizens?
With no outright hatred for the system that created violent jihad, can we stand up against this attempted domination?

@bonnacaruso.
I suppose there are thousands of similar stories like the one you witnessed.
Stories that never get published.
I also once witnessed when a Muslim office cleaner started arguing with my boss and insulting a salesman. Why? Because his fellow cleaner was his female cousin. And she had entered the salesman's office to clean. What's been wrong? Well, the salesman dared to change his shirt while she was cleaning. His cousin being exposed to some naked male arms then made this cleaner virtually storm into my boss' office and start ranting about the salesman's behaviour for about 15 minutes. My boss managed the situation by just letting this man go on until he cooled off. I was just speechless - a cleaner asking my boss to penalize the salesman for changing his shirt in presence of a female cleaner...
Well, it's actually been quite some time ago - before September 11. At that time I still didn't know too much about islam and just thought of this
guy as a mentally disturbed person. As did my boss..
The islamic terror is obviously only the tip of the iceberg of muslim discontent and aggression.
It's logical anyway. Before someone tempts to murder he probably goes into a selfpropelling spiral of ever increasing levels of hatred. So for each committed act of terror you'll have a multiple of failed acts of terror, a still higher multiple of pyhsical aggression, followed by an even higher multiple of verbal aggression. And well, it doesn't end with verbal agression as not everyone who feels a strong discontent actually articulates it. Now assume a multiplier somewhere between 7 and 20 for each stage of hatred...

Recall Atlas' piece:
"Public information officers or spokesman for law enforcement agencies are purposely downplaying and in some cases lying outright to the public about arrests of Muslims in the US," so said one Federal law enforcement official.
At this thread, Savage_Nation made the following comment (and later confirmed the individual he spoke to was the off duty officer that took out Sulejman Talovic:
Most SLC residents are in complete denial.Let me share some thoughts with you if I may. I just left Salt Lake City a couple hours ago with a load to Menominie WI. I took yesterday and today off cause of time restraints so I spent it at the Flying J at the 201 and I15, about 2 miles from downtown. Most of the peeps in there are regulars and local people. I asked some people what they thought of the massacre and every damn one of them said he was just a poor misunderstood lad from Billy Boys war.
Interesting though, the SLC Police and State Patrol hang out there too and I asked one of them what they thought and the trooper said that off the record they all know it was a personal jihad but they cant talk about it on the record because they are all under orders of silence from the top brass at HQ.
Although anecdotal, the trend appears to answer your question.

"We cannot allow them to be airline pilots, or part of an airplane crew."
Posted by Hugh
What do we do with Muslim airlines that fly into the US on a regular basis? We all remember the Egypt Air co-pilot who (apparently) destroyed his own plane, killing all aboard.
How many of these airlines have landing rights within the US? We could say that they won't have a lot of fuel by the time they get here, but those planes will have to take off again and they will be flying over US airspace with a full load of jet fuel.
Do we tell Air France that it can't hire Muslims or at least cannot put Muslim crews on flights bound for the US? What about in the airport? Do we tell other countries that planes bound for the US cannot even be touched by Muslim workers? Nothing would stop someone on a maintenance crew in Europe or Asia or even Canada from "dropping" an explosive somewhere in the cabin or in the hold. We can screen luggage and even go through it by hand but that won't stop someone who is loading passenger luggage from putting his own "luggage" in there as well.
Whatever rules we make for our own country, they will be obviated by globalization.

It being a holiday has prevented us from contacting people we know downtown that would know details (such as what religion, status of the poor guy that got run over (I did hear thru channels he was run over by both front and rear wheels!) etc. I was surprised to see our uber liberal CBS affiliate with the story this morning. Albeit thin on details, at least they reported it. They did show a picture of the van the cabbie was driving and it plowed head on into a tree. I would imagine he was blinded by visions of virgins. It's News Channel 5 in Nashville, will advise more when we have it.
On the question of all the Somalis in Nashville, it was widely reported years ago (maybe 8-10?) that the Catholic churches were sponsoring 1,000s of North Africans, mainly Somalian "Catholics" into the Nashville area, I would imagine with the idea of filling in their shrinking attendance; however, the "Catholic" Somalis turned out to be Muslims in Catholic clothing. Then, magically, mosques start literally popping up overnight in strip malls, etc. Also, I guess immigrant Somalians do jobs we Americans don't want to do. . . hmm, my grandaddy made his living for 35 years driving a cab and quit when he continued to be physically threatened by the immigrant cabbies, one even following him home and staking out his house, til he called the police.

Investigators said the students paid their fare and were walking across a parking lot when Ahmed hit them.
This is a constant in muslim and arab attacks. They will never fight you one on one in a fair fight. Americans believe in and adhere to the "John Wayne" fair fight mentality. Jihadis know this is your M.O. and won't engage you using your "it's just understood fair fight" ground rules.
They will wait till your back is turned or your guard is down, even a little, and then attack.
Who do they always kill? unarmed/defenseless kids in a pizza parlor, unarmed/defenseless women at the Jewish Federation, unarmed/defenseless pedestrians in San Francisco, unarmed/defenseless kids in a pedestrian area at UNC, unarmed/defenseless kids buying Vaenltine's day cards at the Trolley Square, etc.
Every act of muslim terrorism shows they are cowards as well as demonic.
So many of these jihadis come from North Africa where they've learned from watching animal role models. It's always those in the herd who are weak, young, infirm, old, or just aren't aware of their surroundings and the danger within that die at the hands of predators.
Consequently never turn your back on, believe or trust a muslim. You put your life and the lives of your family at risk.
These two college students learned this lesson the hard way, the dead people in the mall, even harder.

Jonesport,
allah is satan. Jews and Christians worship life, read the same book, adhere to the same basic beliefs, and most importantly worship the same G-d.
islam literally worships death.
One of the most important commandments for Jews and Christians is "You shall love G-d." That doesn't appear anywhere in the koran.
The Ten Commandments don't appear in the koran.
And in fact sura 17/33 says "thou shalt not kill any man whom allah has forbidden you to kill, except for a just cause."
The koran is replacement theology. When they scream "allah akbar" that means "god is greater" NOT "god is great." By this, they mean THEIR god is greater than the G-d of Christians and Jews.
Everything goes back to Ishmael.
There is a great book, "Israel's Bible Bloc" by Dennis "Avi" Lipkin alias Victor Mordechai. You may of heard him as a guest on the Michael Medved show.

The failure of law enforcement and media to call a spade a spade and put this in its proper perspective is going to be the last straw with millions of American citizens, who want nothing more than to go about their daily lives without being subjected to this ideology and its army of apologists. Regrettably, there is no turning back and one day soon(within 15-20 years) the nation may very well find itself mired in civil chaos between the culturally elite,ie those sucking on the tit of Saudi funds, and what is left of the U.S. populace that wishes to maintain some semblance of the nation they remember. Take the time to be armed and formulate a contingency plan(I can even fall back on a Samurai sword should things seriously devolve) and don't worry if your neighbors laugh at you. Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police.
Let’s see. They’re from Ohio, and college students, so they must've been sick of being hip-deep in scowling Moslems.
For his part, the scowling Somali Moslem cabbie was unhappy to see the students emerge from a bar at closing time and hop in his halal cab with their beery breath and freedom loving attitudes.
The Moslem complains, words are exchange, the kids get out, and the scowling Somali Moslem cabbie has no choice but to attempt murder after the voice in his head screams out, And kill them wherever you find and catch them. Drive them out from where they have turned you out; for disbelief is worse than slaughter.
I only hope that the college students said the worst possible things about Allah and Mohammed, the worst God and the worst person in world history.
Put the cab in reverse, enter the parking lot, aim the car at their backs, press the right pedal to the floor, and praise Allah. Inshallah.

The Fox guy said Fox would continue to follow the story "because apparently nobody else is" and marvelled at how the media had become cowed by the Islamic political correctness machine. Oh, please let there be hope.

A reporter for Fox is down here in Nashville researching the story, she was just on Fox and went a little more in depth. Apparently one guy was Catholic, one was Protestant and then the Muslim cab driver. The two boys started talking to each other about religion, then the cabbie got in on it and it turned into an argument. Then, of course, he tried to kill them. Neighbors and friends say, get this, THIS IS COMPLETELY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR HIM! Really? So he doesn't go around running down innocent people in his cab every day? How very odd.
So, anyway, a Catholic, a Protestant and a Muslim are in a cab, right, and then the Catholic says . . . it's like a really really bad joke on America.

No, and he didn't do it in this case either. Islam taught him that these two men were NOT innocent.

Fox News said one of the guys was in critical condition.
Hugh's post would certainly draw "racist" accusations from the MSM no matter how true or even more importantly; just basic common sense.
Isnt that what PC insists you do; suspend all common sense?

I work in one of the research bldgs at Vanderbilt, and I can report that a good part of the housekeeping crew are burqa-clad Somali Muslims. If there was a radical group of them that wanted to do something, they would have unfettered and unnoticeable access to small amounts of very nasty chemicals. Other labs near me culture infectious microorganisms that could easily be accessed by the cleaning crews also.

I hate when they say this. I would rather that his associates said "yeah he was always a mean SOB and we been expecting something like this.
I guess it the feeling that you don't know who will snap next.
BTW Fox said last night that the one guy is critical.

"My question is: What are our options?"
...there are no options...
at February 20, 2007 7:40 AM
Okay, why do these people, that hate us so much, have to come to the USA and try to force us to be like the crappy country they left? If their religion and way of life is so wonderful that they have to wage a "Jihad on all infidels", why the heck did they leave in the first place?
At least in this country, YOU CAN LEAVE! GO HOME, practice your free relgion at home! Fix your own damn country and quit trying to screw ours up. We got the liberal whackos here to do that for you!
I hope the cabbie is deported back to his own country. But believe this, if it had been an American cabbie of any ethnicity, they would already have been convicted for an Anti-Muslim Hate Crime and strung up.
Free religion my tropical booty! Free religion for anything other then what this country was based upon is more the norm these days. I agree that we should be able to worship the way we want, but don't try to convert the masses. You can always move to a country that follows your beliefs. Trust us, we'll let you go!

Zenster, I'd say that options 7 and 9 are the best to pursue, but I think it's erroneous to assume that those options must be as extreme as they are described. Example, option 7 needn't involve taking all rights from everyone, only most rights from Muslims, with a bit of radiation outward from that due to unavoidable collateral damage sometimes, as well as the necessity of having to deal with a certain fringe of non-Muslims who might collude with jihadists. Similarly, option 9 need not be quite so extreme to work -- particularly when option 7 is being implemented.
You asked if there were other options not included in the list. One that comes to mind is Hugh Fitzgerald's suggestion that we do everything we can to exploit internal divisions among Muslims. I can't see how anyone could object to that, rationally.
