Dinesh D'Souza, call your office: these farmers are being radicalized not by the immorality of American culture and the audacity of American writers who criticize the elements of Islam that give rise to violence and Islamic supremacism, but because they are being prevented from growing opium. Anti-drug American cultural conservatives who seek to ally with "traditional Muslims" like these, in accordance with D'Souza's recommendation, would be in for a rude surprise.

The tractor roared through the field, the plough tearing through the valuable poppy crop as the farmer looked on. A helicopter searched for insurgents and armed police stood watch, their uniforms replaced by robes and turbans to make them less conspicuous.“The people are unhappy with this eradication campaign; if it goes on they will all join the Taleban,” Dilbar, a poppy farmer in Helmand province, told The Times.
The prospect of such a surge in Taleban numbers is bad news for the 5,000 British troops based in Helmand and 1,400 more heading there after the announcement by Des Browne, the Defence Secretary. The fiercest fighting since the Taleban were overthrown in 2001 came last year, with more than 4,000 people killed, and intelligence reports predict a new offensive this spring.
Poppy eradication is a double-edged sword. Afghanistan provides nine out of every ten grams of heroin sold on the streets of Britain, and officials are determined to stamp out poppy growth. Yet a successful campaign would leave many unemployed as potential recruits for the Taleban.
Afghans, ever the pragmatists, have devised their own solution. “We leave some fields without destroying the poppy so everyone is happy . . . otherwise they will go and support the Taleban,” said Aminullah, 21, a policeman with the eradication force in Helmand.

Ya can't win for losing. They kill us for doing Drugs and the kill us when we stop. Some people are just so hard to please.
I say, Crop Dusters, spraying ROUNDUP (EPA approved) would be much less labor intensive.

If they would just grow tomatoes, Iran has the perfect market.
I have a friend who built hydroponic greenhouses all over the ME. Many of which have been destroyed by the Palastinians.

just don't kill any more bees. millions are mysteriously disappearing and they are vital to agriculture. strange coincidence that honey is a strong agri commodity of the Middle East.

...well, so what!...you are already fighting them....they use the profits from the drug sales to purchase weapons and explosives for the Taliban...it is better to start fighting to win instead of just prolonging the conflict....as long as the cycle of drugs=money=arms=explosives=muslim attacts=need for money=more drug sales=more money etc, etc...continues the more the violence continues...
...lets destroy the opium, and if the farmers choose to side with the taliban, then so be it....
Ban Muslim immigration now...

DRUG DEALING AND SLAVE TRADING...STAPLES OF THE MUSLIM ECONOMY
Muslims in Muslim gangland countries (all Arabic Muslim countries) are allowed to grow and sell drugs openly spreading evil and exploiting the tragic weakeness of others. If you burn their cocaine crops they might get upset and join the Taliban and start murdering innocent people. So apparently the local authorities in Afghanistan are cowered into appeasement, and being Muslim probably secretly see nothing wrong with selling crack to non-Muslims, or Muslim children for that matter.
Not only do Muslims openly engage in illicit drug trafficking; they also have the proud distinction of being the last remaining SLAVE TRADERS. Make no mistake about it. Slave trading is alive and well in Africa bc ARABIC MUSLIM slave traders go into villages in poverty striken Africa and take children from their families and sell them as human slaves. Just look it up on Youtube if you think I'm crazy. Stop being so darn ignorant to the abject wickedness that is Islam.

If there wasn't a European market for the opium the farmers would not be growing poppy plants.
The chain is Afghanistan, into Kosovo and then into western Europe.
The cash goes into Rothschild and Warburg banks in England, France and Germany. In Copenhagen, it is transferred into blood diamonds which kicks back into the diamond cartel in double sold diamonds which all is easily transported to fund terrorism....which buys Russian arms to murder Americans.
If you add the white slave market with Chicom shipping you have the wonderful world of funding with laundered oil money which is at war with the United States.

Islam was born out of poverty and the lack of will to become rich by honest means. After all, the "Prophet" devised "Islam" only as a means of robbing the rich and gain status in life. If not outright robbing, then the converted rich would have to pay the "zakat" which was again an increase of money. If still there is no conversion, there is always "Jaziya". Islam grabs, somehow, instead of honest money-raising.
