While the Russians continue to pursue short-sighted and ultimately self-defeating aid to Iran -- the same country that is backing the anti-Russian jihadists in Dagestan.
"Terrorist Bombing Prevented in Moscow," from MosNews, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
According to Moscow police security officials prevented a bomb attack in the Russian capital the day before the country celebrated a national holiday last week, the Bloomberg news agency reports. The Federal Security Service and city police detained a 29-year-old man from Dagestan with a 500-gram explosive device on a trolleybus in northwest Moscow on Feb. 22.
“The device was in a solid cylinder, and filled with buckshot, nails and other pieces of metal,” the police said in an e-mailed statement. The man, identified as Farid Magomedov, was traveling to a metro station and had a remote-controlled detonator in his pocket, police said.

"Dagestan..."
Shades of Pechorin, Lermontov, and General Yermolov.

They should tape it to his torso, and test fire it....

When will Russia learn that when you sleep with a rattlesnake sooner or later you will be bitten?

what do you think will happen with this would be suicide bomber? will he get a 60 minutes tv interview? will there be televised protests for his release? will he be given court appointed lawyers? will he recieve not only a trial but an appeal process? will his attorneys have access to classified, anti-terrorism intel?
i doubt it. now just who is it that knows how to fight jihadis? the US? the EU? nah, it takes a brutal policy of no mercy against these vermin and Putin is certainly not afraid to be brutal, unlike our PC government and treasonous politics.

Oh, the Russians will probably apologize, give him a lucrative government job, a new car, introduce him to some "friendly Iranian agents," and show him a picture of George W Bush and a picture of a Hummvee with a target circle around it, and advise him he is in the wrong neighborhood....

Ah Litvinko who was poisoned by the Putin FSB stated the Chechen terrorist attacks were instigated by Putin to get dictatorial powers which he now has.
This "bomber" is probably the message of, "See Putin keeps you safe as dictator as he stopped this bomber."
People have to start understanding that Moscow with central European assistance is in control of al Qaeda and Iran. They are the threat instigating all of this.

ref Lame's comment above, there is a theory which runs like this:
the USA lured the USSR into Afghanistan in revenge for having being lured into Vietnam by the USSR. Al Qaeda was one weapon the USA used in that conflict.
Afghanistan succeeded beyond expectations, and became the catalyst for the breakup of the USSR.
those who mourned the loss of the USSR the most then turned Al Qaeda into the means of their revenge on the USA.
however, probably none of this matters now, since the monster has now turned on both his former masters, and wishes to destroy them both.
regarding the pro-Chechen and (apparently) Muslim convert Litvinko, the really interesting question is: what he and others were doing with the polonium which eventually poisoned him ?
if the theory that it was the missing component (and detonator) of a suitcase nuke, why was it taken it to London, leaving a toxic trail in its wake? because the technician who would arm the bomb was there ? because the bomb was there ? and if that was so, where is it now ?

Despite Lame Cherry's delusional attributions, Russia's ties with Islamist terrorism run far deeper than many of you might imagine. I recommend reading my post over in:
"Russia will work to end sanctions on Palestinians"

Robert - I would be very surprised if you could find any evidence supporting that statement.
Islamic fundamentalist Wahabites from the North Caucuses are Sunni Muslims who regard Shia Muslims as heretics. They don't regard Iran as an Islamic country, because it is Shia.

500 gram explosive device is about 1.1 pounds.....is that c4,centex, tnt, nitro, black power, home made substance....a one pound explosive device could be very dangerous or just a big firecracker....at any rate, I doubt he was going to a target, more like just transporting to another location....more info needed...
