However, no group has claimed responsibility. "Indo-Pak peace train hit by terror; 67 dead," from NewsLocale:
Terror struck the Samjhauta Express early Monday morning when a bomb blast ripped apart the peace train causing the death of at least 67 people and injuring many others. The attack involved two crude bombs and occurred near the Indian city of Panipat. The train links New Delhi with Lahore and was restarted in 2004 as a mark of peace between the two warring neighbors. It is not clear how this will affect the peace process, but one fact was significant. This is the first terror attack to target innocent citizens of both countries.
Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf called the attack wanton and vowed that it would only strengthen the peace process rather than derail it. "Such wanton acts of terrorism will only serve to further strengthen our resolve to attain the mutually desire objective of sustainable peace," he said.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the culprits would be brought to book. The finger of suspicion is being pointed at Islamic terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, although no group has claimed responsibility.

The Indians are idiotic enough to have this service in the first place. Partition happened for a reason. Panipat - the site of 3 battles, all of which were won by Muslim invaders of India. Lashkar e Toiba/Jaish e Mohammed are the worthy successors to Babur, Akbar and Ahmad Shah Abdali.

It must stand to India's eternal credit that they have, just like Israel with their Palestinian enemies, shown such immense restraint in the face of constant provocation from Pakistan. The terrorist attack upon their parliament alone should have served as more than adequate justification for nuclear retaliation against Islamabad.
Consider what America's response would have been to a suicide attack upon a full session of the house and senate in Washington D.C., and then substitute the factors for India's equation. Again, like Israel, India has demonstrated superhuman restraint, especially considering that India's landmass could absorb Pakistan's entire nuclear arsenal without decimation, whereas Pakistan would undergo complete and total obliteration in such an exchange. Such an imbalance in "throw weight" cannot but have tempted India's strategic forces beyond all endurance.
As an American, on numerous occasions I have been obliged to tender personal apologies to the Indians I encounter. Coming within months of our own 9-11 atrocity, the Indian parliament attack met with such minimal condemnation from an America so preoccupied with currying (as it were), favor in the eyes of its Islamic “allies”, that it may as well have gone entirely unnoticed. India’s status as the most populous democracy in all Asia made such neglect upon our own part nothing short of a national disgrace.
America has employed an, oft times, wise policy of selling advanced weaponry to ostensible allies. Our sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan certainly qualifies as such a proverbial deal with the devil. These transactions serve a vital purpose of keeping marginally aligned nations in step with our own national interests. All well and fine that we complete this sale to Pakistan to keep it wholly dependent upon America for its advanced aviation technology. In reality, Islamabad has few other ways of offsetting any Chinese threat.
Once the last F-16 airframe is delivered, America should sell India whatever Patriot missile systems it needs to neutralize Pakistan’s own IRBM counter-launch capability. Nothing could send a more clear message to Pakistan than to let them know that the recipient of their unwanted attentions could now defeat an incoming wave of nuclear tipped missiles after yet one more abhorrent ISI inspired attack against India.
Pakistan’s incessant terrorist activity must be curbed. Who else but America can possibly meet such a demanding task? Islamabad currently controls the only Islamic nuclear arsenal in the entire world. If we are to claim that they serve even the most remote purpose in fighting terrorism, why not hold them to it with a loaded gun to their head? After such interminable provocation, both America and democratic India deserve nothing less.

And, just HOW do we know the bombing was the act of jihadists? How do we KNOW that muslims were responsible??
Couldn't the bombing be attributed to Mad Methodists, or U.S. Imperialists, or crazed librarians, or hungry children??
When we read or hear of some bomb blast somewhere, why do we immediately think it must be due to some muslims? Why? Are we islamophobes? Are we (OH, NO!!) prejudiced? Racist??
Why don't we immediately suspect Baptists, Catholics, or Buddhists?
Why?
Because it is always muslims. Always has been before. It's an educated guess. A probability estimation based on experience and observation.
It's always the muslims. Yes. It is.
They are at war with the World. All of them. All of the time. And Everywhere.

"They are at war with the World. All of them. All of the time. And Everywhere"
Please forgive me, texan, but this beggars the simple question;
When will the World be at war with them?
Silly of me to ask, I know.

How fitting, that the religion of peace would blow up the "peace train". Next time call it something else.
The Muslim dictionary defines 'peace' as follows:
kill, destroy, murder, mame, create havoc and turmoil whenever/wherever possible.

And nothing will happen. Delhi will get bombed (worse than 2001), nothing will happen. Mumbai will get bombed (worse than last year), nothing happen. Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Lucknow (where my relatives live), Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and other Indian cities will get bombed (or perhaps nuked). And nothing will happen.
When will this stalemate end.

As long as those countries as well as China has the bomb, the stalemate will continue, forever. Long live the cold war !

This will end when we have a government in India with some spine. I thank Zenster for his post expressing sympathy with India. I know a lot of fellow Indians who blame the US for selling arms to Pakistan when they know very well where those arms will be used.
However, I am not one who blames the US for their foreign policy. Their policy is dictated by their needs, domestic and global. India has a problem with Pakistani terrorists and it needs to learn to deal with it on its own. No amount of whining is going to get us any respect. Yes, we should have gone into Pakistan after the Parliament attacks. I wonder what kind of deal was cut by our politicians in order to NOT go in. I think it was a HUGE mistake... perhaps time will prove me wrong. I sincerely hope so.. but I don't believe it.

Zenster: "Consider what America's response would have been to a suicide attack upon a full session of the house and senate in Washington D.C., and then substitute the factors for India's equation."
Zenster,
Your comments and observations are much appreciated. If only there were people (like you, Hugh, Robert and some other talking heads on this forum) in the establishment who think and understand the pain of populations living in Israel, India, Southern Thailand and other countries under constant threat of Jihadis, this problem would have been understood correctly and addressed properly. Being on this forum and knowing what you people think has given me much hope and comfort that people are opening their eyes to the danger posed by Jihadi mindset. When a critical mass of people understand Islam as it is, that will bring the impetus to force the muslim nations to take a critical look at their religion and reform themselves.
As for the current Indian govt., they are as drugged as the govt. here.

I can see it now. The western leftists in Europe and the US are soon going to be screaming it is THOSE Christian fascists from the US at work again!!!
And sadly, there are going to be people who actually believe it.

I second that.Great post, Zenster.
My sincere sympathies to all our Indian posters, and I know there are quite a few.
Yet another outrage. Every day something else. All over the world!!
It hasn't even made the MSM here as yet.
This is becoming more and more intolerable.
I have posted this link before, but for the benefit of those who missed it:

Almost every country that has a problem: yep,,you guessed it - the cult of "peace".

India is the perfect fast-forward to see where we're going.
Although a minority in India, the Moslems have a firm hold on power there. For example, do you think the federal police will actively puruse the Jihadis who did this mass murder?
Nah.
When you get your infection rate up into the 20% range, the 6th Pillar of Islam looms large. In India they call these incidents religious riots.

You guys have it right. We Indians are used to our government (and congress party) doing absolutely NOTHING in response to this problem. It's only a matter of time before another Mumbai happens, or a Varanasi, or an attack on the Parliament, etc etc.
I wonder what our friend Jehanzeb has to say about this?

And for Jewish and Israelis
More Indo-Israeli co operation

And more general info
I still firmly beleive that one of the greatest mistakes made by the USA and UK was that after the murder of the children at Beslan, was the Bush & Blair didn't visit Beslan, lay a wreath and offer the Russians a military alliance against the "bottom raisers".
Instead their advise was "negotiate with the chechens"
Every chechan should have been arrested in the UK and expelled to Russia.
Legislation should have been passed to allow citizenship to be stripped from moslems.
Fund raising for islamic causes banned.
3-400 mosques should have been closed (or the equivalant for each person murdered in Beslan)
Instead every nation is busy "cutting a deal" with this or that moslem nation for short term favour.

Indians have been foolish enough to run trains and buses to "help" their enemies to infiltrate, and that too legally.
Indians have been too stupid to realise the actual ideology of Islam, even after 1400 years of being at the receiving end of Islamic babarism.
Can't help a person who doesn't see reason, even for his own survival, isn't it ?

The train was going to Lahore, Pakistan....why on earth would anyone want to go there...Lahore is a breeding ground for Islamic terrorist slugs...I suspect the Islamic terrorist slugs in Lahore do not want anyone coming to Lahore...This train bombing is not the first train to Lahore to be bombed...The Islamic terrorists are sending a message..."Do not come to Lahore."
....As usual, the terrorists prefer to kill unarmed civilians.....explosions set off in crowded conditions to maximize the body count and intensify the terror effect...
....As usual the silence from the Muslim communities is apparent...oddly the silence from the Indian communities is also apparent....
...Have people become so benumbed by all the violence that they just don't care?....
.....If I were the military in the area, I would seriously be considering martial law imposition, much tighter security at all public transportation stations, increased spot vehicle inspections, unannounced background checks on all visitors (especially from Lahore, Pakistan); I might even put the military on a higher level of alert or even close the border during the nightime hours, I would employ extra security guards at the rail stations with trained bomb sniffing dogs, I would install camera equipment at all public transit stations and in the rail cars too...
....The Muslims would issue a fatwah on me, but I would do it all....and I would do it immediately....

Assalamau Laikum all,
Champ, "samjotha" is not the train of peace...it is the train of compromise...that is what samjotha means...the peace is simply implied.
exsgtbrown....not many in Lahore are saying "don't come here"....on the contrary and truthfully Pak is ready in the mind for commercial and tourist expansion. The minister for tourism wants 1Millions of peoples to come and visit this year alone...and not simply for kidney transplants.
It is your wrongful perception that we don't want you here...we do. In general Lahoris are very friendly ...as always the dispicible actions of the few spoil it for the rest of us furniture makers. Yes ...business is not that great at the moment.
To be honest we don't need F16s from the Amerike...we could not defeat India with them anyway...so why bother with them. What we need is the Amerike and the UK peoples (not just of Pak descent)to come here and see for themselves.
Pak has made hugh strides in Software...we have some of the best writers of viruses in the world.
Many SW houses have sprung up...while today you may employ 1 SW writer in the Amerike...and get 3-4 for that price in India....you can get a whooping 6 for that price in Pak....talk about value for money.
Forget about the bombers...come and visit us...we need each other.

"Forget about the bombers"
...what about the knifers,stranglers,rapers,pistoleros,shotgunners,machine-gunners,grenade throwers and the Christianophobic self-serving Martyr wannabees?....

Assalamau Laikum exsgtbrown,
you say ...What about the knifers,stranglers,rapers,pistoleros,shotgunners,machine-gunners,grenade throwers and the Christianophobic self-serving Martyr wannabees?"....
What about them...you have these types in the Amerike too don't you....you ignore them there....so ignore them here too.
at February 28, 2007 8:09 AM
"What about them...you have these types in the Amerike too don't you....you ignore them there....so ignore them here too."
..yes, but they are not rampantly running around attacking everything under the sun claiming loyalty to something they do not even care to understand anymore...
The Muslims have lost sight of a Religion of Peace and have resorted to just killing everyone in sight....As MO said: "Kill them where you find them"... such wonderful peaceful advice...
Any Non Muslim going to Pakistan does so at his own risk...safety cannot be assured....acceptance is not guarranteed....a return home in a casket is possible....
....While Pakistan may have a few peaceful souls, they stay secluded and do not openly walk around with NON Muslims....to do so would ensure a shorter and sometimes painful demise...
....News reporters go to Pakistan only with armed guards and only stay for short periods of time....
...tourists have all but stopped going to Pakistan...no enjoyment in painful death, I suspect....
.....The Islamic terrorists in Pakistan are slowly guarranteeing Pakistan will see a ceasation of foreign aid and possibly a war with India....
...Pakistanii Terrorists are dimming Pakistans future....
....Global businesses are slowly cutting off business contracts with Pakistani businesses....
Thank you for your invitation to go to Lahore....but it is unsafe and unwise for anyone to go there....
...Even you could not guarrantee a safe visit....
at February 28, 2007 9:04 AM
Assalamau Laikum exsgtbrown,
You say ..."Even you could not guarrantee a safe visit"....
While your statement maybe ultimately true...it could apply to me in the Amerike ...could it not.
Lahore is nowhere nearly as dangereous as you make it sound. News reporters are always out to get a story that wants to make for example madrassas look extreme...some of them are undoubtly...I won't deny that.
But reporters will refuse to vist modern moderate ones...no story there.
What about the ordinary peoples and daily work of textiles and food in Lahore....don't act suspicious, forget about talking about Islam ...see it in action...enjoy.

"While your statement maybe ultimately true...it could apply to me in the Amerike ...could it not."
....You could come to America and carry big Signs stating You Love Islam, You could wear a big baggy burkas, you could say your Muslim prayers openly....you might have some people call you names, you might have someone blow the horn on the car, you might have someone take your photograph, you might have people just look at you....but you will not be shot, blown up, raped, have FGM performed, you will not be stoned, flogged, dragged down the road, have your kidney removed, you will not have acid thrown in your face, you will not have your limbs amputated, you will not be simply shot in the head or hanged from the bridge..
...Most likely you will be simply ignored as it should be... and you could go home in peace...
Muslims do not treat Non Muslim human beings so kindly...

"The train was going to Lahore ..."
Lahore, the name says it all!
"To be honest we don't need F16s from the Amerike...we could not defeat India with them anyway...so why bother with them."
Exactly. What has been accomplished is to make Pakistan utterly dependent upon America if a war should begin with China or India (perish the thought). At that point, we could simply cut off the supply of spare parts and support personnel and, like with Iran, those F-16 fighter jets would rapidly become incredibly expensive Hangar Queens.
"Pak has made hugh strides in Software...we have some of the best writers of viruses in the world."
Naseem, you are allowing your lack of intelligence to show. Posting such inflammatory boasts as above within the online community is tantamount to trolling.
Virus writers are among the scum of the earth. The computer damage, drain upon staff resources and extra layers of CPU demand that anti-virus security systems require all make virus writers responsible for losses amounting to BILLIONS of dollars each YEAR.
To brag that your country has the most proficient virus writers is akin to boasting that your country churns out the best trained terrorists (which it does as well). Both are highly dubious claims to be making and all the more reason your nation should be crushed like the global cockroach it is.
