Former Georgia imam sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for financial support of Hamas

Mohamed Shorbagi Update. "Muslim leader sentenced for backing Hamas," from AP:

ROME, Ga. (AP) -- The former Imam of a Rome Muslim congregation has been sentenced to more than seven and a half years in prison for providing monetary support to the terrorist organization Hamas.
U.S. District Judge Harole Murphy sentenced 42-year-old Mohamed Shorbagi today in Rome.
Federal prosecutors said Shorbagi had sought donations from his mosque that were sent to the Palestianinan terrorist group. They also said he provided logistics for them by creating media materials that ultimately were distributed oversesas.
But Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Dammers suggested that his sentence be reduced from 15 years in prison because of Shorbagi's help in testifying for the government in other terrorism-related trials.
After the sentencing, Shorbagi shook hands with about a dozen friends and family members who were gathered at the court before he was taken away.
At the sentencing, Shobagi said he realized that some of his actions were wrong, which was why he decided to cooperate with the government.
He pleaded guility in August to a charge of providing material support to Hamas.
He is a citizen of the Palestian territories but is in the United State legally. He says he has been in America for 22 years.

Any JWers who are familar with the situation in GA please let me know about it. I am getting ready to re-locate there and don't want to step into a bed of red ants.
How badly are certains areas occupied? I found one
website where you can locate Mosques, are there others?
We are going to go rural and often it is hard to tell who lives nearby. I know of one compound I saw on Western Resitance are there others?
We will have pigs and dogs.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I think a rush to judgement should be over-turned, and a stet sentence or an appeal should be made until further recognition of the repurcussions are evaluated. International Judgment is a no-brainer.

I just about cried when I re-read my post.

The History of the deep South is replete with members of my family on both parent's sides. From statesmen to scholars to major entrepenuers. There is a private school started by one of my great-uncles that sends students to the Ivy League schools with a firm grounding in the classics, that is not much seen anymore.
I never thought I would have to be concerned about the 'occupation' of dangerous-to-be-around people.

Oh Well

Jail? Deportation? No-I want some desert islands located to drop off all these losers from the whole world once they're convicted of crimes. Jail means getting freebies at taxpayer expense (Korans, laptops, toilets facing in the right direction, special meals-hell, jail ME!). Deportation means this scum will preach via Internet or videotape (Satan Khomeini was deported but it didn't stop him from spreading his filth into Iran). We need a Devil's Island, an Elba-some place where these cretins can spend their final days away from civilization. Let them fend for themselves-after all, the Koran has all the answers and it would be a marvelous opportunity for them to get to know their god very well.

americaningermany-

I doubt the Koran will reveal the way off an island. And even if those "scholars" did find a way the US Navy will make sure they won't get far. Exile worked for Napoleon (it helped that he was poisoned) so it should work just as well for a bunch of kooks who know nothing except Illah and how to please him.

With a little luck they might end up wiping each other out in a war to decide who's the most pious.

Throw him in jail, but dont piss on this scum's koran.

Deport him....

Ban Muslim Immigration....

Even our prison cells treat him better than he deserves....our taxpayers do not need to feed or care for terrorist supporters....If the terrorist is caught actually killing someone, the penalty should be severe and swift...

I am actually quite happy to see my tax dollars spent to keep a terrorist-supporting Muslim imam in prison. It's one part of the federal and state government budgets that I hope will grow dramatically in the future.

As for deportation: a felony conviction is grounds for revocation of a "green card". Deportation is not something that is usually imposed during a criminal trial. The deportation hearing would be before an immigration court while he is in prison. Hope that's the way is goes ...

...Muslims currently are the fastest growing prison population...at the current rate of new Muslim prisoners, new and larger prisons will have to be built to accomodate the increased need for prison beds...

...it is far cheaper and more cost effective to deport them now....

...if we keep them in our prisons,we feed and care for them, then we release them and they are still here...prison has never rehabilitated anyone...

....when you have garbage in the house, throw it out....

"He is a citizen of the Palestian territories but is in the United State legally. He says he has been in America for 22 years."

Sort of tells you something, right there. An individual should be obliged to apply and successfully qualify for US citizenship after 10 years of residencey. Those who do not wish to give up their former nationality should be scrutinized thoroughly. As always, what can we hope for with someone who originates from a terrorist hotbed?
