Investor's Business Daily calls CAIR on its hypocrisy regarding the Secular Islam Summit.
Politics And Islam: The first Secular Islam Summit was a success if for no other reason than it intimidated the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the PR machine of militant Islam. The Washington-based group that boycotts airlines and bullies radio personalities and politicians into toeing the Islamist line is clearly worried about the message from Muslim reformers.
It dispatched its henchmen to Florida to shout the reformers down at their confab earlier this week. CAIR also posted on its Web site no fewer than four stories bashing the event and its courageous speakers, many of whom are women calling for an end to inequality and mistreatment under radical Islam.
CAIR declared the summit illegitimate because few of the participants are "practicing Muslims," and those who are, it claims, are merely pawns playing into the hands of "Islamophobes."
"In order to have legitimate reform, you need to have the right messengers," asserted CAIR spokesman Ahmed Bedier.
And who might that be? The four CAIR executives who have been successfully prosecuted on terrorism-related charges? The CAIR co-founder who said the Quran should replace the U.S. Constitution as "the highest authority in America"?
True voices of moderation are the delegates to the Secular Islam Summit, who insisted in their declaration that mosque and state should always be separate. They also called for tolerance for non-Muslims, and an end to violent jihad. CAIR should take notes.
Indeed. Read it all.

CAIR like all vampires, cannot stand the truth, and when the lights shines on those who spread hate they wither away. l hope CAIR is kept in defense, keep them busy, deperate and weakened. Keep their feet in the fire,so that many more can take their power away.

"Radical groups like CAIR have been on the offensive, primarily because counterattacks by moderates have been few and far between"
...time to change this senario....it is better to be on offense than defense....
Ban Muslim Immigration NOW.

Could this be the begining of the end of CAIR?

I wish the seculars luck, but Islam is a religion, and CAIR has doctrinal rigor on its side.
Given the militant nature of that doctrine, I think it takes a lot of contortions to sanitize it, not that we shouldn't applaud those who try.
But let's face it, apostates like Ali Sina have an easier task.

(From the transcript of Glenn Beck’s interview w/Bedier and Hamid)
http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0703/05/gb.01.html
Bedier:
“CAIR's history and Muslim organizations and clergy in America have denounced any type of killing because somebody leaves a faith. That's very clear…” (‘a faith’ is not the same as saying Islam)
Bedier was an archetypal spokes mouth for CAIR as is represented in statements like, “The Koran says, in Chapter 2, Verse 256, there’s no coercion in religion.” and “The Koran is in the same form as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. The only version, true nature of the Koran is in the Arabic language.” He even had Glenn Beck agreeing with him.
What is amazing is that CAIR doesn’t appear to want anyone but CAIR defining what Islam in America is or should be. Even the ACLU doesn’t demonstrate this level of superciliousness.
One has to wonder how many attendees were photographed and tailed after the summit by the Islamic mafia.

CAIR fears the truth....especially if the Non Muslims know it....

CAIR must fear that a rival organization of Muslims is about to take shape. They can't have that-CAIR wants to maintain the party line and its monopoly as the one "purely" Islamic group.

No people....CAIR fears being replaced, because CAIR was started by a bunch of nobody nowhere no account low self esteem people who chose Islam to hide in.
The created CAIR to give themselves power they could not gain on their own merit. If the secular intellectuals gain public support and start debating these ignorant goofs, the media and funding will go to the secularists.....and CAIR will trudge back to it's nothingness.
That is what it fears in the same way Democrats only feel empowered if "their party is in power" as Democrats only have self worth if the group they belong to is in power.

CAIR is un-American and they know it!
A group of secular Muslims is much more amnenable to the American Way.
No wonder CAIR is afraid. It's a Wahabbi front!!!!

May I say a word in support of Investor's Business Daily?
Anytime the editorial board of IBD addresses the issue of Islam or Muslims they show they "get it". They are always spot on with strong editorials, more than a few of which have been published here at JW. Would that the NYT or WaPo or LAT had an editorial board so well informed.
Busted by IBD.

Would that the NYT, WaPo or LAT even report on the Secular Islam Summit. I went to their sites, as well as CNN, Fox and BBC, and there isn't a peep about it, though at least Glenn Beck of CNN was there. CAIR has no need to worry because the vast majority of people in the US haven't even heard of it since it's not in the news. At least some of the Arab media were there, though I can't expect its viewers heard an honest accounting.

"CAIR declared the summit illegitimate because few of the participants are "practicing Muslims," and those who are, it claims, are merely pawns playing into the hands of "Islamophobes."
If all the participants were practicing Muslims, CAIR would say that they weren't "true" Muslims, or that they were in the pay of the CIA or Zionists.
a CAIR spokesman interviewed at the conference by Glen Beck was asked if he condemed Saudi Arabia for enforcing Sharia law? The spokesman flatly refused, saying that "you can't condemn a whole nation."
I only wish that Beck had the presence of mind to ask the spokesman what he thought of Israel.
If I had any doubts, that one interview told me all I need to know about CAIR and its agenda.

CAIR's Bedier seemed a bit put out because CAIR wasn't invited to this party....
Bedier, in the video, was attempting to dictate who comes and goes at this summit....He also mentioned St. Petersburg as being "my town".
What an arrogant blockhead.

bcg,
Is "cleaver cult" accidental, or is it a clever pun? Frankly, I think describing islam as a "cleaver cult" is most accurate.

The arrogance of the CAIR thugs is amazing! In addition to being a putative " muslim civil rights organization", it appears that CAIR is also a branch of the Saudi mutaween. I certainly never thought we would have to contend with the fanatic Saudi religious police, but it doesn't surprise me. Wherever muslims travel, tons of islamic baggage inevitably follow. I heard that muslims now "own" Dearborn and Detroit but I had no idea they own St. Petersburg too.
Bedier is obviously frantic and feels cornered. Cornered animals are very dangerous. His Saudi masters will not be pleased that this summit took place in "his" town, on his watch. Maybe they'll can him.
