A Stop-The-Presses Alert from the Secretary of Defense. "Taliban, Al-Qaeda regrouping in Pak: Gates," by Sridhar Krishnaswami for PTI, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Defence Secretary Robert Gates has said Taliban and Al-Qaeda are using Pakistan's tribal areas particularly north Waziristan to regroup, a problem the United States is trying to address with Islamabad."I would say the Taliban and Al-Qaeda have been able to use the areas around particularly north Waziristan to regroup and it is a problem. We are working together with Pakistan to address that problem," Gates told mediapersons at the Pentagon.
Responding to queries whether the safe havens and training camps used by Al-Qaeda and Taliban in Afghanistan can be taken out by the US if Pakistan was either unable or unwilling to do so, Gates only confirmed the problem, without getting into the specifics of the rules of engagement along the restive border.

In 2001, I thought it extreme when the father of the neutron bomb, Sam Cohen, advocated using enough warheads in the Pakistan hinterlands to end the Taliban and al Qaeda problem.
After the demolition of the US government, our war dead, the suffering postule of the Middle East, Sam Cohen has proven correct in this area should have been neutralized as he advocated.

Well, if we have to "fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here," as the mantra goes, or as Representative John Boehnert said as shown on the NBC evening news tonight a propos the Democratic attempt to put an end-date to Tarbaby Iraq, "if we don't fight them over there they will follow us home." That's right -- they will "follow us home," presumably by stowing away on our own planes or ships, and then just be checked right in by customs and the INS, and then end up coming at us on the streets. Meanwhile, neither John Boehnert nor those of his fellows who are busy supporting this crackpot winning of "Iraqi" hearts-and-minds winning (spare us more of those generals who, because they get a degree from Princeton or Harvard in something, are then declared to be the World's Leading Intellects and Masters of Grand Strategy, Who Can Break Any Counter-Insurgency) have ever uttered a word, as far as I know, about Muslim immigration to this country or to the countries of Western Europe. They are "following us home" alright, but will be allowed to do, apparently, whether or not we stay in Iraq.
In any case, what now? After having given $27.5 billion or its equivalent to Pakistan over the past 5 1/2 years, what have we gotten for our money? We've been snookered, and snookered, and snookered. Isn't there some kind of ability of someone somewhere to open his window in Washington and scream: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it from (the Pakistanis, the Iraqis, the Saudis, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, the "Palestinians," the Arab League, the U.N. Secretariat, the E.U.'s foreign minister) any more?"
No one? Anyone?

Lets see, How would doing something about this play in the MSM?
Echo's of more Vietnam comparisons? Like trashing the idea of destroying your Enemys lines of supply and Communications in 3rd party Countrys. Especially when everybody with even half a Brain knows what is going on.
Despite the Demoncrats stated desire to pull from Iraq to finish Afganistan, they will not support what needs to be done.
Considering that the US is NATO's backbone as it is. Are we really to expect the Demoncrats to provide the Troop Surge necessary to conduct an operation of that size. Especially if it is without the Support of the Goverment of Pakistan.
How does one suppose our Aircraft support such an operation if Pakistan decides to deny the US use of its Air Space? Fly over Iran Instead?
I see various areas in the Middle East as I would a Game of Hop Scotch. Just the right number of spaces safe for your Feet to land on. However, No point in making the Game Board bigger than it need be.
If Shame is a consept in the Muslim World, them best we Shame Pakistan into doing more to support our efforts. It is not like we havn't a couple Hundred Thousand detailed Photos of the place by now. Targeting Data and all.
Besides, we could watch the Demoncrats squirm like Worms on hooks at the thought of having to admitt that we really do have accurate Inteligence. Putting them in the position to put up or shut up.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and the various "Human Rights" and "immigrant Rights" groups will see to it that they get an easuy and comfy ride to our western Lands so they can carry on as they've been doing since the stone Age.
Lucky us.. to be members of the U.N.

Hate to reaffirm the fact, BUT THEY ARE ALREADY HERE. How long were the 9/11 terrorists in the U.S.A before executing the plan? Sleeper cell members in the U.S. could number in the thousands. I certainly do not thinking that is "paranoid" number by any stretch. There has been reported all kinds of strange activity that seems to slide under the wire of the media and is written off as coensidence or un verifiable...like for example up here were I live in Minnesota, people said they observed some middle eastern types casing the Prairie Island nuclear power plant. How do we treat a rumor like that? Dismiss it as paranoia, or like James Wood [the actor] who tried to report the 9/11 terrorists on a dry-run flight as very suspicious characters to the airline prior to what happened? Make no mistake, the battle is EVERYWHERE muslims are, not just "over there".

the famous words "if we fight them over there" would have more meaning if they really meant it. let the border of pakistan/afganistan resemble Dresden.

"How does one suppose our Aircraft support such an operation if Pakistan decides to deny the US use of its Air Space? Fly over Iran Instead?"
Merely send Pakistan a polite note informing them about our intent to use their airspace with a special mention of how even a single attempt at interdiction will cause their entire nation to instantly become the world's biggest parking lot. Enough of this prinking about.
"snookered,"
...I would have used another word....
Perhaps so exsgtbrown, but I'm confident that there would still be a "k" in its spelling.

Yeah, I'm sure they're here, but they have no support. If we let-up, they'll gain more support, so keep hammering until their loses are our gain !
