I don't know too much about Obama (I'm a Guliani-ite), but there was a favorable review of his strongly stated advocacy of sanctions on Iran, and I like his view that the Iraq war has strengthened Iran.
Beyond that, I've read some pretty negative stuff here in JW posts, but, I have an open mind on this apostate. He's not in the same disillusioned-later-in-life category, but guys like Ali Sina and Ibn Warraq, and many more apostates, are truly amazing people.

Maybe it's just my general attitude, but I do not exactly know what to make of that. There is a fine line between satire and sarcasm. I try to cross that line as often as possible. Did I just see RS also trying to cross that line?
I perceive Obama as a typical Washington politician. He will try to be all things to all people, and in so doing, he will be nothing.

Obama could turn out to be a strong opponent of Islamic intolerance and violence, anything is possible. But he has so far offered nothing along those lines, and so there is no reason to assume he will be an anti-jihadist ally.
Any attempts to misrepresent his childhood, and to cover up the facts of his younger years, will only lead to more suspicion.
I don't know if Robert's message was meant sarcastically, or in an overly exhuberant display of optimism, or for some other reason, but I know I'm not going to wait around for Obama to decide which side he's on. If he or any other politician, liberal or conservative, starts speaking intelligently about jihad, they will get alot of eager attention from me.

My read on Obama is that he hasn't got the cojones to sail the course Robert suggests, nor will he or his handlers deem it necessary. This potato isn't just hot, it's radio-active and the Obama camp would like to bury it in a lead lined coffin.

I really liked that picture of Muhammad -- is that Persian?? Great likeness, I guess...reminds me of the picture I once saw of the Buraq...or this, like, Haram?
Anyway, I hope Obama settles the issue as to which side he's on.

Obama is a typical liberal from the wash beltway, and will be a typical appeaser. l heard about the church he belongs is a black separtist church, and their pastor is friend with the looney muslim louie and they both visited the ME and its leaders. these are the people mr obama associates himself with. it any white male politician would go this same type of church, and just take white in the black, of "black family values, black blah blah , this "white politican" would be labelled a racist. so obama is not given the same grueling questions, get a pass because he is black. just like madame clinton gets ta media pass. same old same old libeal lies, aka appeasers, and nothing but talk.

Obama won't be president and Madaam Clinton won't be either.
(They will probabably show up as Madaam President and VP in 2008 campaign for the Dems, however)
So, the question of Obama's affiliations are moot; for the moment.

The con-reps best get used to Obama... it's either HIM or HILARY in '08. The GOP is on it's way to the dustbin of history, along with 8-track tapes, pompadors, Randy Travis, and "abstinence only" education.
The good news is that neither President Obama nor President Hilary will be obsessed with Iraq; neither is heartless enough to send 3300 of OUR sons to die so he/she can get re-elected... so maybe, just maybe come 2009 Bin Laden will finally be brought to justice.
Remember him? It's been over 2007 days since 09-11-01, he's still a free man, still plotting to murder millions of us. He WAS the focus of our foreign policy until Bush and Cheney realized how much money their "previous companies" could make if we had a big, GOP-er style war. Plus, face it, if they'd have put 500,000 boots on the ground in Afghanistan, we'd have caught Bin Laden in a couple of months, and by the time the '04 elections had rolled around, Bush would have been a shoe-in for defeat at the polls.
With a longer, more costly war, he was able to ride the graves of our boys all the way to an easy re-election. And just LOOK at all those judges he got to appoint! And all the non-neo-con Federal Attorneys he was able to sack (oops.. wait a minute, that's not turning out so well now is it? LOL. Looks like Libby's going to have Rove as a cellmate!)
And speaking of Libby, I wonder how many foreign spies were killed by their governments when Cheney ordered Valerie Plame to be outed? Hey, Dumbya said that Iraq had Urnaium from Niger, and if Plame and Wilson try to contradict that with facts, it could lessen OUR demand for war with Saddam. So OUT HER and to hell with all those spies she was training in Iran and China. We don't need them anyway, right? Plame testified that ENTIRE NETWORKS of spies in foreign nations working for America were destroyed. Thanks, Bob Novak! Thanks, Cheney, Rove, and Libby! Thanks, Harriet Miers, Abu Gonzolez, John Asscroft, Ronald Dumbsfeld! Have a great life!
Bush Sr. said that anyone that disclosed the name of secret federal agents is the LOWEST type of scum that should be punished to the FULLEST extent of the law. Are their any conservatives left that still agree with him? Hellooooooo?

so maybe, just maybe come 2009 Bin Laden will finally be brought to justice.
Maybe, just maybe, come 2009, you'll realize that if and when Bin Laden is brought to justice by a Republican or a Democrat or even Ross Perot or Ralph Nader, someone else will step up to take his place, quoting the same verses of the Koran and other canonical texts and inspiring the same fanatics that surround Bin Laden now.
It's safe to say that we're in a different phase of the War on Terror now. More and more Westerners (apparently not you, though) are realizing that those who follow Islam's dictates are not going to stop fighting us regardless of what we do, short of submission to them as our rulers, and that the whole thing goes way beyond Al Quaeda or even Iraq or even the Middle East (look at Thailand or the Philippines). This is a battle of ideologies and clash of civilizations, at least for those of us who understand the meanings of those terms (again, apparently not you, who apparently can't grasp anything beyond "Plamegate" and "2008 Presidential Election" and "Osama"). Those, things, at best are small fish in a big pond. The fact that you rail at them shows you are fishing for small fry.
at March 20, 2007 8:13 PM
kj,
If you want to be taken seriously here and in life, post facts, not bozo conspiracy theories. Gee, that’s just what I want in a secret agent an undercover blonde amazon in Iran or China. Face it they both watched too many 007 movies and they started to believe they were the Bonds. More likely they are the Arnolds.
at March 20, 2007 8:17 PM
Bin Laden is dead already.
Muslims are too proud to let others take credit for their actions. That goes double for Bun Laden.
It serves Al Quidas interests to maintain the illusion of him living.
All those Vidios of him walking arround the Mountains of Afganistan clearly showed a Dog on the downhill side of life.
Dead in a cave praying he had got his name on a transplant list.

Like we are supposed to believe Obammas "converson" means something? Raised a Muslim during the most formitive years of his life. While his "Campaign" has already flip flopped over the issue.
Is it possible he remembered the old lying to the Infidel lesson? He is a Politican after all.

The commentary from both Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald (search Hugh Fitzgerald and Obama in the archives) seems to assume that Senator Obama knows whereof they speak on issues like freedom of conscience and oppression of women in Islam. So, let's say that's true, that Senator Obama knows that Islamic schools of jurisprudence follow hadith and endorse death as a penalty for apostates, that he knows that the penalty for blasphemy is death, and that blasphemy might involve something as slight as an insult to Mohammed, that he knows full well that these beliefs are inconsistent with our constitution and present dangers to millions of people worldwide, will Senator Obama take the lead in speaking out against these kind of flagrant abuses of human rights? Will he take the lead in speaking out for freedom of conscience, of thought, of expression, of criticism? Will he support courageous apostates like Ayan Hirsi Ali and be a champion for women oppressed by Sharia law all over the world?
But how can one do this without alienating Muslims in general? Will CAIR support him if he talks like this? Will Congressman Ellison? Will MPAC? Will any major, well funded Muslim group stand behind Senator Obama if he accepts Spencer's invitation and speak out for basic principles of freedom and justice endangered by Islamic teachings founded in the Qur'an and Sunnah? And what of our so-called 'allies', Saudi Arabia and Pakistan? What will the leaders and people of these countries say about Obama if he speaks up?
Even if Obama knows whereof Robert Spencer speaks he will pay an enormous political price for speaking the truth. And that is the conundrum of public truth telling and Islam: standing up for what is right must involve standing against mainstream principles of Islamic thought, and that cannot be done without making enemies of the majority, not the minority, of Muslims worldwide. And so those who know either do not want to know and forget, or they choose to stay silent not to make friends, but to avoid the massive multiplication of enemies.

What is the attraction to Obama?
What has he ever done?
He is left of Teddy (fat-head swimmer) Kennedy
Hillary would be better (uggghhh strangle spit)

Good Job!
I am glad somebody is doing this. Lets put the ball in Obama's side of the court and see what he does with it. Either way it works out great. Either he turns into a fighter of freedom or he becomes the weak willed liberal many think he is and exposes himself.
Win-Win
Mr. Spencer I salute you!

Obama's CV is way too thin for a prospective President. Doesn't matter what his upbringing was. The last time we elected somebody with that little experience on the basis of touchy-feely sound bites, we wound up with Dubya. Anybody remember "compassionate conservatism"? Almost as much of a crock as "mission accomplished".
My question for Obama:
Who's your Cheney?
at March 20, 2007 10:23 PM
HooooWeee! That's the funny thing that happened to me on the way to the forum(Borders Books)last summer. Seems every direction I looked was this Obama face. Never noticed him before, but I figured I must be out of the loop of the beltway. Since that awakening I have been paying attention and still don't really know who he is or what he is really being prepped for. I don't buy him for a New York minute. If and when he gets in bed with Hillary it may start to make some sense.

Nothing new with K-Joy. Dems good, Reps bad, Reagan/Bush evil, Carter/Clinton the saviors. You can keep your socialist party rhetoric. There are not many here that will stand up for either party until they show some cajones despite political outcomes. None of the current 'frontrunners' on either side of the aisle hold much promise.

To KG
Attacking does not give us answers. Why is it you think Osama Bin Laden is the only threat we face?
He is just one guy, most likely dead, hiding in a cave.
Give us real answers and solutions not attacks and we might take you seriously.
The President, any President is only as informed as the horde of people around him who filter the info he gets. Often times based on their own agendas.
As busy as they are, there is no way they can keep up on what is happening in our country, let alone others, without being 'briefed' by underlings.
Let me remind you Senators get briefed also on security matters. And what is Congress busy with?
Witch hunts in the FBI and Justice Departments.
Yeah, let's weaken our ability to prevent a different kind of 9/11!
That will show those GOP'ers.
I personally cannot believe you would equate the grief that all Americans suffered on 9/11 with the numbers of deaths from the Flu. You obviously think that it is all about numbers, not all the other affects that that day had on our way of life.
You would probably tell a rape victim that she should be glad it was only one guy, not ten.
Stop hating Bush so much that the redness of too much blood in your eyeballs makes you blind.

War is deceit per Islam. Didn’t Ayman Al Zawahiri say he has spies in the US of A or was it that Adam guy? Not quite in those words but that is what was meant. Until he speaks out against this, many will always wonder.
