Yet another indication -- the second one today -- of why Islamic reform is so exceedingly difficult.

One of Australia's most important Muslim leaders has sought police protection after criticising controversial cleric Sheikh Taj al-Din al-Hilali.Tom Zreika, president of the Lebanese Muslim Association - and Sheikh Hilali's employer - said he received non-stop phone threats yesterday after he released a document urging greater integration and for Muslims to "mend their ways".
The report, prepared for a national meeting of imams in Sydney this weekend, says some Muslims are "ruining it" for all and that Australians have "had enough" of Muslims. His report also recommends that imams become involved in community activities such as voluntary firefighting and surf lifesaving.
Mr Zreika said he was threatened recently after saying, "I can't tolerate this freak show", following recent remarks by Sheikh Hilali.
But yesterday, after the contents of his paper were publicised, the threats, from Muslims, came non-stop.
"They just say, 'Mate if you don't shut your mouth we are going to come and fix you up'," Mr Zreika said. "I know they are Muslims because they quote Muslim prayers."

I wish Tom Zreika, Leb Moslem, unsuccess in his effort.
Cuz, if the Moslems in Oz do cool out, then the focus is taken off of them and they can go back to their hate-preaching inside their mosques, hate-mongering inside their heads, and fast-breeking inside their bedrooms.

Okay, I am not Australian so maybe I am out of line but... it seems to me that it is an egregious misuse of the friendly Aussie greeting "mate" to use it in a DEATH threat. On the bright side, it does show a small degree of "assimilation" doesn't it? I hope the real mates never lose their Aussie spirit nor their country.

Yet again the question must be asked: When will the vast majority of peaceful Muslims finally launch a jihad against that tiny minority of jihadist misunderstanders? If nothing else, have them declared apostates. At least then the infidel world can actually see that something is actually being done. Or is the reason that this hasn't happened yet is because the majority knows that the minority is, in fact, practicing Islam more faithfully than it does?

Dude is suggesting that imams get involved with "volunteer firefighting and/or surf lifesaving"...FINALLY, a muslim voice calling for the PROTECTION of life rather than the taking of it! (But of course this is so bad that other muslims have to hunt him down to kill him....insanity!)

The Message is Clear. Dare to say anything against the Radical Factions or Islam in General and you will die. although Islam and Muslims are allowed to defame , and slander any Religion or Group is wishes , with impunity , but don't dare call a Spade a Spade or Question Islam cause that is unfair.

Ruining what? Probably ruining the 8:66 plan which has a decent chance of success:
Now hath Allah lightened your burden, for He knoweth that there is weakness in you. So if there be of you a steadfast hundred they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a thousand (steadfast) they shall overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. Allah is with the steadfast.
by moving too quickly to the 8:65 plan:
O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there be of you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred (steadfast) they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are a folk without intelligence. Exhort the believers to fight. They will win easily, because disbelievers are without intelligence.
Which will likely get Islam kicked out of Australia.

True: German Nazis were a 'minority of extremists'.
True: German Nazis took over Germany and dragged the world into WW II.
False: Muslims that believe in Sharia, Jihad, the re-establishment of a Caliphate and global domination by Islam are a 'tiny minority of extremists'.
True: Islam has been at war with the world since the time of Muhammad, with a hiccup now and again.
True: "Houston, we have a problem."

The problem should be obvious: Islam and the West are incompatible, have always been enemies and will continue down a path where the 'extremists' of Islam, the majority, are going to keep hounding us until we "submit to Allah" or die. They will do it by subversive means, political means and violent means. They show us examples of all three front-line attacks each and every day.
I'm sorry, but I don't plan to cooperate with Islam. And I'm not going to be so polite about it any longer.

I can think of a third alternative...one that would line up with your plans to not cooperate with islam...that involves people dying,... but not us!

Methinks that "Tom" (a convert to islam I'm guessing) is the real misunderstander of islam and is probably wondering what possessed him (no pun intended) to convert to the wonderful world of islam-mania which is the freak show to which he referred.
Of course, those threatening him have the weight of the koran behind them.
I'd be curious what moslem prayers they were quoting to him. Come on Tom, 'fess up; let us infidels in on the dirty little secret.

Tom Zreika. It's strange to see some names (Tom, e.g.) associated with some ethnic groups. It's like seeing a reference to "Rabbi Tommy Cohen". In any case, Tom has got it right about the Islamic nuts such as the cleric Sheikh Taj al-Din al-Hilali. He is part of a freak show. CAIR in America is of a similar nature.

This Muslim needs an AK 47, but then Australia has taken guns away from it's citizens to protect themselves.......but the criminals and anarchists still have the guns to fix him up.
It will take police 15 minutes to respond by which time the Muslim will be beaten to death, chopped to death or shot to death with an illegal gun.
It is wonderful watching liberal socialism protecting society when it comes up against Islamofascism armed with more than words.
The problem from Thailand to Oz can be solved if local armed citizen militias start protecting themselves and stop relying on police who make certain they show up after the shooting is over.

It is crying shame that it takes much bloodshed, death, war, intolerance, acts of hatred, rape before those in power are convinced there is a problem.
I am convinced. I dont need to see this s#&$ on my doorstep to be convinced there is a problem. I am convinced now.
So regretfully, if he dies, it maybe that it brings a few more liberal thinkers round to the view that there is a problem.

hi bevc,
from an aussie, and just to clear up your point, "mate" can have very serious, threatening connotations, as well as the more familiar friendly greeting.. it all depends on the inflexion put on the word.. you can say "mate, sit down and shut up" and in an angry voice the word means "listen here and make no mistake, i'm talking to you"
i'm offended they are adopting small aspects of my culture and rejecting the same culture as a whole.. and very stressed at the thought that things like this have happened here for decades now.. and our gutless heirarchy still, still won't acknowledge there is a serious problem. what it will take is the pack rape of a daughter of a politician or a fatal bashing of a tv personality or influentual person, . and even then it may take 4 or 5 big incedents. if this guy IS shot.. it will barely make a ripple.. he's not a popular tv star and it will be a "baffling police mystery" due to the closed shop of islam and the paranoia of the authorites, scared to stir up controversy or of being labelled racist.
