Tiny Minority of Extremists Update: why isn't the vast majority of peaceful, moderate Muslims rising up and demanding the removal of the "uncovered meat" Sheikh?
From the NZPA, with thanks to all who sent this in:
CANBERRA: A meeting of Australia's imams has given the outspoken spiritual leader of the country's Muslims an extra three months in his job, angering the government.A meeting of about 60 imams late decided against sacking the mufti of the nation's biggest mosque, Sheikh Taj El-Din Hilaly, who was accused of justifying rape last year when he compared immodestly dressed women to uncovered meat.
Imams council spokesman Mohamad Abdalla said the meeting voted to consult the country's 280,000 Muslims about Hilaly's future, angering Prime Minister John Howard who said the decision was out of touch with the views of the community.
"They're exercising their right. But I think they're doing their community damage," Howard told Sky television.
"The failure of the community to do something more decisive about this is damaging the image of Islamic Australians as part of our community. I think the impact of this decision will be extremely negative."

"...who was accused of justifying rape last year when he compared immodestly dressed women to uncovered meat."
"Immodestly dressed?" Nope I think the transcripts will bear out (if memory serves correctly) that he compared women whose head and necks were uncovered to uncovered meat; we're not just talking Brittany Spears short skirt/no panties look here. His remarks were more: "dress like its 7th century Arabia or you get what you deserve". Here at my office in Chicago right now I am conservatively dressed for my attorney bosses but the imams would consider me "immodest" since the nice weather means my blouse can finally be crew neck or scoop neck without getting frostbite.

Looks like the "vast majority of moderate Muslims"
are proud of Hilaly and his statements after all. Next time they complain that they're all being unfairly attacked when this idiot makes another nutty statement let this decision be thrown in their faces.
It's foolishness like this that makes the notion of moderate Islam seem like an impossible dream.

In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.
Hard Truth
What is a Moderate Muslims the Quran teach us that there is only one Submitter (Muslim), the system of God has always been easy but humans try to always make it difficult for them self.
Yes God does tell us to cover our self and the woman should cover them self, and other verse he tells the woman to lengthen their dress, but he leaves that up to them not man. Because the main think is righteousness of the person’s heart
It all depend about where you are some place (COUNTRY) myth required them to be more moderate about there dressing, because everyone is like that, but still doesn’t make it right. The must important thing is for us to cover our private part. As man you should know what is your private part, just like woman knows their private part, in some country they cover their hair like must woman do from tradition (hand me down system).
Remember that God doesn’t punish you as a group, but as individuals, because we all have choice to go right or left.
The Imam should stop preach his words, but preach God’s word which is better for his life.
We need to stop worry about others and worry about our self, and if we all do what is required from us which is in our heart this world would be a better place to live for us all with difference thought and religions.
"Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!"

There was a Russina monk - St. Seraphim of Sarov, who spent a lot of time in a retreat in the woods. Even there he had visitors and once a young girl, out of boredom started combing her hair while waiting for her parents who talked to St. Seraphim. Some older women chastized her for "tempting the holy man", but St. Seraphim just laughed: "Live the child alone - it is only hair". True faith in true God makes resistnace to temptation easy. Even normal self-discipline is absolutely sufficient for a man to behave in gentlemanly manner. Wonder what would be arabic for "Gentleman". Is the concept even translatable?

"Imams council spokesman Mohamad Abdalla said the meeting voted to consult the country's 280,000 Muslims about Hilaly's future, angering Prime Minister John Howard who said the decision was out of touch with the views of the community."
So what are they going to do after they consult the country's 280,000 Muslims and find that the majority think the old turd was right on the mark with his "uncovered meat" statement?
Amazing how these Imans become instant democrats when asked to make a real moral decision. They wouldn't waste any time consultng with anyone if they were genuinely offended by the old bastard's remarks.
Ask what these Imans would do if a government official made statements insulting to Islam or the "Phrophet." They'd demand his immediate resignation or removal -- no consultation necessary.

Here's an illustration of why Moderate Muslims will never win the battle for Hearts & Minds.
Over on YouTube I take on pro-jihadis, usually about Palestinian propaganda or anti-Israeli propagand. This exchange started under a clip of Israeli soldiers firing on those Muslimahs who recently ran to form a protective shield around some jihadis that were trapped in a building....

Doesn't it feel good to get praised by the enemies of Islam? Well keep getting praised because it's a form of worship for you Jay. Kissing the kuffars behind to please them. Shows how much of qur'an you comprehend. May the Islamic Ummah never put someone like you in charge.

"why isn't the vast majority of peaceful, moderate Muslims rising up and demanding the removal of the "uncovered meat" Sheikh?"
.....because there are no peaceful moderate muslims....it is all a lie...
at March 26, 2007 1:25 PM
exsgtbrown - while some people calling themselves 'muslim' may actually be moderate - Islam has never been moderate.
No moderate person can legitimately tell a Muslim to stop doing the things Mohammed did.
This is why placing hope in moderation is a mistake. Its' all or nothing -- muslims say this when they're being honest. The terms must be Unconditional surrender ( not to the will of Allah, however! )

I don't see the fuss or the need to fire the Imam in question. Let me refresh your memories. All he said was' "If you leave an uncovered meat outside and the cats come to eat it, whose fault is it? The cats or the uncovered meat." The sinners (non-believers) are a people given in to blindness over Logic. They choose blindness to guidance so it doesnt matter what the Imam says that will convince them to believe. We were told about this infidel disease in the Quran, surat Baqarah,
.."..verily those who disbelieve, it is the same to them that ye warn them or that ye warn them not. They do not believe......"

Wow Abdullah, so if one manages to keep his instincts at bay they are blind or do not believe. Silly me, I decided that if one believes in God they would avoid jumping on wimen beacuse lust is a sin, regrdless if the woman is all covered or naked. My dibelief in Mohammed must blind me to the point of resisting the sin because it is aginst God, not because the temptation is too much or the punishment too horrible.
BTW I have a cat, which simply does not touch anything on the table, even uncovered meat. Even an animal can learn to hold their instincts instead of blaming the world for being too temting.
On one thing I agree with you wholeheartedly:
We do NOT believe Muhammad! Not one little bit!

The "uncovered meat" imam is not the threat that a smooth talking quasi-westernized successor would be. Hilaly has probably set back the jihadists' cause at least a decade in OZ.

Is it only me or has anyone noticed that Hitlery Rotten dresses according to the wishes of her masters already?
Ain't NUTHIN' attractive 'bout that woman! Inside or out.
It's hard to put together a more repulsive wardrobe than she has. Unless you shop at "Halal burka fashions". LOL

MP is right, the damage has been done to Islam's image, and this will seal the deal - Australians of all political persuasion have been turned off. Pretty soon the only friends the Muslims will have will be the hard core atheist, feminist, gay-rights supporting left.

They DO have balls. Just like people have balls in all Western countries.
We all have in place governments who are "democratically elected" and we are afraid to break the rules - for now.
So we either get tougher folks into office by peaceful means.
Or we simply submit to the inevitable. NATCH!!

as we see comments from these immans, muslim men are very weak minded, they cannot control themselves.
their cult is inhuman and created for those men who need to have all beauty covered from them. islam is a slow black death pestilence slowly eating away the human mind.

Even covered pork is a problem. Just ask the Imams in the Twin Cities.

"If the australians had any balls they would expel that religious nut back to where he crawled out of." - callmeinfidel's post.
Infidel, rest assured, the folk over here have the right gear. In fact, we are all so well endowed we can't get around without the aid of wheelbarrows.
MP & Brett_McS - fully agree. We're much better off having that boofhead here than some silver tongued spinner of fables. Hilaly is the best aid in the anti-Dawa cause here in Oz. Long may he remain, long may he be outspoken.
"OT: Does the 10,000,000th viewer get a prize?"
Sure does, 2 kilos of pork chops.

Zena-
Can we make that a sort of official euphemism?
The Slow Black Death (SBD)
- as opposed to the regular kind of Black Death
Common sense and cynicism begin to blur...

But human males are not cats. Maybe Abdullah like your fellow muslim males are incapable of controlling yourselves. Thus perhaps we should treat you like cats....

You know, I get tired sometimes of comments like the one above.
I am an atheist.
I also consider myself a feminist, in that I believe men and women are equal.
I completely support gay rights - my daughter is gay.
These facts do not make me a leftist muslim lover. We are all fighting the same enemy here - and I believe islam is the most terrible enemy the world has ever known.
